BraaiBraai is a Brunch BeautyBraai is a wonderful Theater District find with an exceptionally fun and delicious menu of South African tapas and entrees, amazing cocktails and wines, and a superb staff that attends to you with amazing care but without being intrusive. The decor is simple but inviting and the food is dimply delicious and perfectly prepared.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely Returning! My best friend requested to go to a South African restaurant for her Birthday to try something new. I chose to take her to Braai in New York.
When we walked in, a hostess greeted us and asked us where we wanted to sit. We thought the restaurant looked very sophisticated. The lights were dim and candles were lit at every table. We were a little confused as to what to order but our waiter cleared up all the questions we had. Our waiter was friendly and made himself available. Customer service was great.
Overall, this is one of the restaurants that I will continue to go to whenever I am visiting the New York area. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very relaxing.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place. i try to visitGreat place. i try to visit anytime I'm in NYC. The appetizers were very good, we had ostrich sliders, vegetable samosas and venison carpaccio for four of us. I had a strip steak and Lisa had branzino and although those choices are not adventurous, they were prepared perfectly. The wine list was all South African and the Left bank, a bourdeau-type blend was terrific. We'd go back.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThey're mid-way through aThey're mid-way through a renovation / redesiugn. It's pushing for a much more chic / Cape Town feel than the previou African Safari themed place. I like it. But given they're currently half way through it, there are are a few unfinished touches.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a pre-theatre dinner. We had a pre-theatre dinner.
