  • "I was really disappointed! I wrote that it was my daughter's 16th b-day she loves Hells Kitchen/ Chief Ramsey on my comments. THE ONLY REASON WE BOOKED THE RESERVATION @ THE BOXWOOD CAFE, because of this. IT WAS A VERY COLD DISAPPOINTING BIRTHDAY."

  • "We came to the GR Boxwood specifically for afternoon tea in the main room and it was lovely. The snacks provided were top notch. The only disappointment was simply that the tea selections were limited. Also, I have heard that in the summer that the teas moves to the roof which may or may not be a good thing since it does get rather warm up on that level. Being in the main dining area which is decorated very nicely I think is ideal, especially for older patrons. I will come back for my next special occasion. Lastly, they have two group event rooms for those who want to host a tea for larger crowds. "

  • "The rose tea was wonderful. The scones and creams were delicious. However, the sandwiches were only so-so. I did not care for the curry one at all. But perhaps that is just me. This being a Gordon Ramsey establishment the sandwiches should be better tasting. Not to be harsh, but honestly, I could get a better tasting sandwich at Submarina."

  • "Afternoon Tea at the Boxwood Cafe was delicious & delightful! This was my first time at the Boxwood Cafe & I wasn't expecting much---the tea was very reasonably priced for Beverly Hills/WeHo & making reservations seemed too easy. But everything--from the lobby of the lovely boutique London Hotel, to the stylish restaurant with its view and attentive serving staff, to the last tasty dessert morsel--was wonderful. I would go back again and again AND, when I need one of those stay-cations and want to be close to the strip--this is where I will stay, hands down. The Rose-Vanilla tea was fragrant & tasty, the scone & almond cake delicious, sandwiches were super fresh and the desserts were luscious. Just beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!"

  • "Lovely hotel, lovely room - really mediocre tea... Tea bags rather than tea leaves- good pastries, terrible sandwiches - dried out bread, fishy lox and generally poor tasting. We were quite surprised and a bit disappointed but, the room and service were lovely. Gordon would not have approved had he actually tasted the food, however, being with good friends made it fun. Just don't go and think the food will be comparable to other high teas - not so much."

  • "My mother, sister and 5 year old son had tea here over the holidays. The room is stunning, the service was perfect and the food was delicious, in particular the smoked salmon sandwich and ALL of the pastries, especially the scones w/ lemon curd and clotted cream. I have been to afternoon tea at the Regent Beverly Wilshire, the Peninsula, the Hotel Bel-Air and the Langham in Pasadena. It tied the Peninsula (but the tea at London cost us less $) and was FAR better than the other three. And I liked the room more than the lobby at the Peninsula."

  • "Beautiful, tasteful decor, lovely city views, sensitive and attentive service, and a somewhat limited, but excellent selection of entrees, salads and sandwiches. Casual but upscale."

  • "When my mother and I visited Boxwood Cafe for afternoon tea last Thursday, they served afternoon tea at the roof top. We ordered Earl Grey for tea, and our teas were served with a tea bag in a ceramic pot. I know they usually serve loose leaf tea in an iron pot, and not to mention, customers next to our table were served with an iron pot. We were very disappointed that they served our tea with a tea bag in a ceramic pot for $28 per person afternoon tea. Scones were not freshly made and they were already cold. At the end, when I asked for our check, 20% tip was already included. I used to like this restaurant, so I was very disappointed. It's a part of Gordon Ramsay restaurants, so I expected better quality drink, food and services."

  • "Lived up to expectations. We only had breakfast here but it was great, the service was good (much better than other reviews suggested) and it wasn't overly expensive."

  • "I was amazed at the decor, elegant grand beautiful breathtaking Decor at the Box Wood Cafe. It was my birthday and I brought my family of 5. The surroundings, the people the inside of the Box Wood Cafe was just as beautiful as the Hotel. The service was great however I'm sad to say I was very disappointed by the breakfast. The Omelet time I orderef was very bland very little to it. My adult children are big eaters and are very big critics of food. it is not often that they are disappointed by something especially food . however in this case they left their food on their plate there was no seasoning. I would go back I will try dinner but not breakfast I'm hoping for a better tasting food my next experience"

  • "We came for the afternoon tea and had a great time . Wait staff was very attentive to our table. The restaurant was very slow so they had a lot of time on their hands, they must have changed the settings on the empty tables around us a minimum of five times during our two hour visit!"

  • "- now, unfortunately, it got quite pricey for what it is, and therefore there are so many alternatives out there, when you want to take your colleagues etc. out for lunch"

  • "Afternoon tea here is amazing - well worth the price and you will get FULL. A really fun and great place with a group of girlfriends... really quiet on the weekday we came here, no need for a reservation on a weekday I would say. Give it a try!"

  • "I booked Boxwood for our anniversary. We arrived to an empty restaurant so went upstairs to rooftop - after we were told it's basically the same menu. I ordered shrimp cocktail - 4 shrimps arrived slightly seasoned with a bowl of dipping sauce - looked straight out of a packet. Not worth the $22 price tag. I sent them back. I ordered a Cobb salad with no blue cheese, and got blue cheese. I'm pregnant so something I'm not comfortable eating. The waitress disappeared for ages so that was frustrating too. Overall, a MAJOR disappointment. We've been to a few Ramsey restaurants in London but this didn't feel like a Ramsey."

  • "Great food. Truly gourmet. The Mother's Day menu was WAY pricier than it needs to be. But it was a nice treat for Mother's Day. Service was impeccable...which is interesting because I think the restaurant has an identity crisis--service and food were five star, but the way Boxwood sells itself is three-star (I.e. Casual and less fussy than The Gordon Ramsay restaurant also in The London). Maybe regular days aren't as fussy and they just went all out for the occasion? Who knows...the point is that the food was soooo very good, I'd still go back any time!"

  • "We went in for brunch, turns out there was no more brunch being offered, and the breakfast buffet & open menu was over. So we had lunch instead. which was still fine. The burger, chicken club and fish were all prepared very well, and the stoicky toffee dessert was fabulous, should have ordered two."

  • "There were 3 of us for tea and asside from the 6 scones that were served there were only enough finger sandwiches for 2. The bread was dry. Where were the egg salad finger sandwiches? The humous was tasteless and spread very thin. It was as if the kitchen was not expecting any customers for tea and scrambled to put something together for us. The clotted cream was the best I have ever tasted. The lemon curd was not zesty enough and was a little too sweet. The waiter was outstanding and made us feel very welcomed. I think his name was Pierro; he was South African. Not the best effort at a high tea despite the name of the hotel- London."

  • "I would never go back here again. The food was terrible. Sandwiches felt stale and so were the pastries. No ambiance..and no surprise, the place was empty. On top of all that, we asked for 2 glasses of wine and were charged $35!! More than the lousy tea.."

  • "The food was good but the service was awful. There didn't seem to be any locals in the Resturant, just hotel guests."

  • "This was our 20 year anniversary and there is no other place that we could have celebrated it but at the Box Wood Cafe! They were so accomodating since our original reservations were for afternoon tea on Valentines Day; which we did not know and the person at the restaurant said say till 5:00 and order dinner. They accomodated us and it was amazing as always. We eat at all the Gordon Ramsey restuarants from the West Coast to the East Coast and we are happy to have Box Wood Cafe so close to our home!"

  • "Very flavorful food. Rich and sumptuous. Service a little slow - I guess they thought we were "ladies who lunch" who had nothing else to do all day."

  • "My cousin and I LOVE Gordon Ramsey and were pleased to see that Boxwood Cafe was a part of DineLA. The menu was perfect. We both enjoyed the Crispy Chicken Dumplings appertizers and the London Burger as the main course. Although my burger was medium and hers medium rare ( we ordered medium well and well done), we did not complain because we had already dressed them and were shoving them down our throats...and they were still super delicous!. Oh, and the fries..yummmmmmy! For desert I had the English Sticky Toffee Pudding. IT was warm, sweet, sticky, tofee goodness. I love that it was just enough for one because any more would have landed me in a coma. The Meyer Lemon Tart is not just a tarte either. It's lemon heaven!"

  • "Four of 4 had Sunday brunch on DineLA at Boxwood. The cafe is a bright attractive place. The staff were outstanding. And our food was truly delicious -- from the bread to the sticky toffee dessert. A great place for lunch. And the prices are surprisingly reasonable for a top chef's restaurant."

  • "The food was quite nice but the service was very poor. Water was brought to the table, but we had to ask for something else to drink. The waitress finally brought the wine list but then didn't return to take our order. I had to ask the busboy to have her come back. The bottle of wine arrived after the starter was served. Service during the rest of the meal was the same, including handling of the check! More attention to the needs of their patrons is definitely in order and will hold this restaurant back until that is fixed."

  • "Food was delicious, would have liked portions to be bigger though. Great presentation. Ambience of restaurant was a bit underwhelming for such a high end hotel"

  • "Having eaten here 2 times prior i know that boxwood would not let me down, every dineLA i at least try to fit this place in for lunch. The courses were beautifully presented and the taste was also amazing. My starter was the mushroom risotto which was creamy and delicious with the pickled red onion accenting the dish very well. My main dish was the braised pork and lobster benedict, which was a nice idea of a surf and turf with the lobster and pork tasting really amazing but i felt that the egg over the brioche was a little over cooked as i like the yolk nice and runny, besides that it was a great dish. And for desert the coconut panna cotta which featured peanut brittle and a mango sorbet was absolutely to die for."

  • "We were at Boxwood for lunch during DineLA. 3 of us ordered everything on the menu. The apps were great, I didn't try the other two but they looked good- my crispy chicken dumplings were savory and full of interesting textures. The entrees were good but not outstanding: mine, the London burger, was juicy and made with top quality meat, but the bun was a little smooshy and the tiny bottled catsup and mustard belonged in a different restaurant. I would have liked handmade condiments. But oh, the desserts! They were awesome. Sticky toffee pudding, lemon tartlet, and a coconut panna cotta. All stellar.Service was lovely, friendly but not annoying, and the room is gorgeous. And seriously, just flat out amazing desserts."

  • "Very cool, modern and tasteful dining room, could be a great hotel restaurant in town, but way overpriced for what you get and the service is severely lacking. Seems like most people got the memo because the place was deserted in the middle of mid-week lunch. Shame."
