Diner Reviews
  • "When you can have one of the best meals in at the area at Bowman's Tavern. We were there on Saturday night at 8 PM. Seated promptly, fast, capable, friendly service and excellent food. Bowman Salad, cornmeal dusted oysters, pan roasted Cobia (a special), prime dry-aged strip steak (bone-in) and bread pudding were well prepared and are recommended. It's causal, fun (you can't help but sing-a-long with the guy at the organ) yet personal enough to have a conversation with your loved one, and the menu is broad enough to please almost everyone. Prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. Free valet parking is a plus (try to find that in New Hope) and the valet staff are very personable."

  • "Dinner for two on a Saturday was excellent...fried oyster appetizer was very good and both entrees were outstanding. This is a casual restaurant with a pub-like atmosphere, but the food was several notches above typical pub food. The prices were also very reasonable, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. This was our first time at this restaurant and we will definitely be back."

  • "We went for casual food and it was very good! But the place is noisy so it is very difficult to hold a conversation so if that is your goal you may want to rethink going there. We were tucked away in the corner and it was still really loud!"

  • "Valet parking was a plus, ramp for handicap was a little steep, ladies restroom needs attention/maintenance. Friendly staff, entertainment was fine, sweet potatoes waffles were very good"

  • "Our trip to Bowman's tavern was a chance encounter brought about by being out on a drive up the Delaware. The experience started out well with a very friendly valet staff, seconded with a favorable view of the restaurant, and it green surroundings. Once inside, our good opinion began to solidify, based on the decor, ambiance, and smiling staff. Bowman's accommodated our large group by seating us in a private alcove, which was very well appointed, comfortable, yet not completely cut off from the rest of the restaurant. The menu contained several notable dishes, including the Pan Seared Salmon on top of Pea and Pancheta Risotto with a tarragon emulsion. The service was a little lax, but overall, I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We were one of the few tables occupied when we arrived at 5:30PM but by 7PM the place was doing a brisk business with a variety of patrons from couples, families and groups of friends. I had the Bowman Burger, excellent and my wife had the small filet mignon. Her comment, "not the most awesome filet I ever had, but very good". The fried mozzarella was the best I ever had. I know, its fried mozzarella sticks, but these were cooked perfectly, and seemed to be fresh instead of frozen. The potato salad that accompanied my burger appeared home made, in skin potato chunks in a light base and was not the normal mush you get in most places. We had a great experience, our waitress was exceptional and we will return soon."

  • "The staff is outstanding. They make a very special evening. The food is very good, love the idea you do not have to have a full diner in the evening."

  • "Set in a wooded pastoral area, Bowman's Tavern has a nice menu selection that can satisfy any palate yet isn't too overwhelming. I ordered salmon and my dining partner ordered the petite mignon. Both were satisfyingly good. We found the wait staff to be competent yet was disappointed with the size of the Mac and Cheese appetizer turned out much smaller than how it was described. Nonetheless we enjoyed the meal and would return again."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 44th anniversary here. We were greeted with a smile and well wishes. The service was wonderful, no long waiting and the wine suggested was perfect! And the food....fanatastic. We were surprised with complimentary champagne and chocolate cake. There is valet parking but you can also use the parking lot on the left side of the restaurant, Very convenient and user friendly! Have already recommended Bowman’s to friends!"

  • "We were given a private room for our special anniversary dinner. Was lovely...very private but could still appreciate the wonderful trio playing soft jazz. Food was very good and chef was very helpful with making a number of requested changes to our meals. Look forward to returning soon! Price was reasonable for quality and amount of food, also!"

  • "We loved the casual friendly atmosphere of Bowman's Tavern. We ,walked in to a very friendly hostess who informed us that our request for a booth would take a minute if we didn't mind the wait. The owner Jack came by and greeted us and thanked us for dining at the Tavern. When our booth was ready we went to a booth by a window overlooking a well tended flower garden. I had the duck breast and my wife had sea scallops from the speacial menu having been in the business for years I must say the food was fantastic !!! The live entertainment was very varied in the styles that Lorenzo covered . Yes we enjoyed our 30th aniversay dinner thanks to this hidden gem of local fine dining ."

  • "Great waitress this time and she made the experience much more pleasant. Our party had burgers, veg. burger, and crabcakes. The crabcakes were better this time as we like them with a browner coating and they were perfect. Our beef burgers were awesome, done as requested (medium-ish well), and the veggie burger was great. The fries and cole slaw that accompanied the burgers were very good. Be careful when ordering a side of onion rings- they were $6 for 5 onion rings!!!! They were large but nothing special and certainly not worth that price. We also got an appetizer of sweet potato fries ($7) which were good but also not worth the price. Had good beers on tap. Some items too pricey for a tavern, but we like it and will return."

  • "We visited Bowman's Tavern on a Saturday in June. Our other option was to go to downtown New Hope PA. just 8 minutes up the street. We made the right decision. The food was very good, our wait staff were patient and courteous but attentive. And we could find a parking space in seconds as they have a parking lot. We went up to New Hope for ice cream and it took us 20 minutes to find a parking space. Your choice very good food with parking or good food with 20 to 30 minutes trying to find some place to park. Oh and we had a party of 9 which they accommodated very well."

  • "Went here twice recently, once with friends for lunch and just this past week with family for Father's Day. Both times the food, drinks and service was very good. Casual but classy--the place must have been recently renovated/updated. I wish I discovered this place sooner. I've been telling friends and coworkers that this spot is a nice alternative to the overpriced and often disappointing (at least in my experience) restaurants in New Hope. Will be back"

  • "The food and overall service was very good. The tables were too close together at least the one that I was seated at was; it did not allow enough room for the server or other customers to get by. I had to keep moving to allow other customers to be seated."

  • "We went to Bowman's Tavern for lunch after a golf outing on Father's Day. The restaurant was ready for our reservation and we were seated quickly. The service was friendly and quick. The food was also delicious after a long day on the golf course. Our group ordered the flat bread and fried mozzarella appetizers which were great and came very quickly. We also had the scallops entree, the crab cake sandwich, the philly steak sandwich and a salad with grilled chicken. The onion rings were amazing. The only compliance was that each topping on the steak sandwich was an additional dollar which seemed a bit steep for cheese, peppers and onions. Overall a really great place to spend the afternoon."

  • "We were there for a late lunch on Sunday. Sat in the restaurant as live music in the bar was loud. Plenty on the menu to choose from, food was very good, service attentive and atmosphere friendly and welcoming. Would certainly go back"

  • "Just passing through. This was the perfect place to have a casual lunch. The hostess was incredibly gracious, I'd give her five stars, while our waiter was adequate. One FYI for Bowman's Tavern: The outdoor patio could use better maintenance: spider webs b/t the railing and even green gum stuck under one chair."

  • "Great hostess, good food. Our party had a Ginger Green Tea Mojito, which was good, and Blackberry Iced Tea , which the drinker did not like. The entrees were very good: Pork Mignon, Salmon, Mushroom Bolognese Gnocchi, and Crab Cakes. It seemed that the salmon was slightly undercooked in the center, but our diner did not send it back. For dessert we had a piece of the Chocolate and the Coconut layer cakes. The icing on both was delightful buttercream, but the cake crumb was a little too heavy. If I am dining out I prefer to eat food that is more special than I can make at home, so I would have preferred a moister, delicate cake, which is harder to make. The cakes were very tasty, it was the consistency that was disappointing. We will return."

  • "My wife and I wanted to try something new and happen to discover this hidden away resturant in the heart of washingtons crossing. Very easy to get to and even has complementary valet parking. They take reservations and had our table ready. There is limited outdoor seating but the inside is fairly big. Noise level on a friday night was excellent. Fantastic interior decor. Food choices were plentiful. Quality of food as well as presentation for prices charged were very good. Highly recommended for groups looking for good casual food with an upscale atompshere or for even a romantic outing. Wine choices are good and served as they should be. Will definetly be returning to expereince the rest of their menu. "

  • "We dined at the Tavern and our party included our 84 year-old mother, who uses a walker. The staff was outstanding the way they efficiently got us the only outdoor table large enough to accommodate our party by moving a couple at that table to a smaller one. It was great to see how all of the other diners were so gracious when we needed them to shift a bit so that the walker could maneuver around the tables. The menu was great, with everything from sandwiches, to interesting apps, to full platters - there was something for everyone."

  • "This place was just re done and it looks good! The menu has so many options which is great. They are accommodating for food allergies - i.e.; gluten. The menu is not marked - you just order what you want and they make it how you want it. I asked for gluten free salmon/risotto/peas. It was yummy, I also had the bowman salad!"

  • "I was pleasantly surprised by this establishment which is just far enough away from New Hope to avoid the crowds and parking issues. The food is very good, and the staff were very accommodating. My only issue is I have a phobia about servers asking "how long will you be at this table, because we have another reservation at 7:30?" Not my idea of a relaxing evening - I am forthright with my comments about I do not time my dinners and the restaurant was accommodating as a result. I will return after I visit my favorite places in Lambertville were the pace is more relaxing."

  • "Came across Bowman's Tavern via a web search - My hustand and I were looking for a place to take a girlfriend for her birthday in a specific geographic range. Read the reviews and details on Open Table and felt comfortable. I was actually more pleased than I expected to be. Maybe the pictures didn't do the space justice. I liked that it had characther, was comfortable and good for special (dressy) and casual meals. The food was also very good. A nice, diverse menu - just enough variety with classic and moden dishes - something for everyone. Everyone in our party had something different and we were all very pleased. We had the chocolate cake for dessert and were amazed by the size of the piece. It was delicious! Will definitely return. "

  • "Food & service were great. We had a large party & our server was attentive & quick with the drinks. We enjoyed all of the menu selections & unfortunately did not have room for dessert. Finished the evening with a nightcap at the piano bar, listening to Bob Egan & some great singers. Definitely would recommend to any locals or visitors. "

  • "My 3 companions and I tried Bowman's Tavern for dinner the first time on Friday night and returned for lunch the following day. If we are ever in the New Hope area again, we will eat there with anticipation. Jennifer, our server on both occasions, was friendly and cheerful, yet still remained very professional, making sure our orders were to our liking, checking our beverage levels, etc. I enjoyed a Golden Sea Bass for dinner and the best Veggie Burger ever for lunch. All the food was fresh and cooked perfectly. The noise level during dinner increased as the evening wore on, and the next day we requested a quiet table, which management was happy to provide. Casual dress or a little more dressy works. It was a very good experience."

  • "Mother's Day lunch was a positive dining experience. My wife was very happy with her salmon caesar salad and my reuben sandwich was good. Our server was outstanding. She was very hepful with menu selection and was attentive but not overbearing. Don't go for the ambiance; it's a bit loud and poorly lighted, but it is a tavern. "

  • "Have been to the Tavern a number of times. Had a 4:00 dinner reservation, was seated in a timely fashion, but then there seamed to be some confusion. Had to ask for bread, had to ask for plates for our bread. Then dirty dishes from our appetizer were not cleared. Heard another table being told the specials and when we mentioned it to our waitress we sort of got a blank stare. Hope it was just a fluke."

  • "The indoor renovations are complete, and the result was fantastic. However, the noise level has picked up quite a bit with the opening up of the dining room. The food and service was well paced and very good. The evening valet service was a courteous and respectful. A very pleasant experience. Looking forward to a future visit."
