A word from Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant
The Bow Valley Ranche has two restaurants where people come and go in the Fish Creek Provincial Park's beautiful surroundings. Located at the end of Bow Bottom Trail SE, in Fish Creek Provincial Park, just follow the signs for Bow Valley Ranche.

The Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant is the new fine dining facility located in the restored Ranche House. Their menu features a contemporary interpretation of Alberta regional cuisine. The Grand Salon seats about 125 guests.

Charlie's room, seats another 25 and there are private dining dining rooms available. Sit down beside the massive fireplace in the William Roper Hull room or enjoy the covered wrap-around verandah during warm weather. Enjoy lunch, dinner, cocktails or weekend brunch. Reservations are recommended.

  • "Last year my b/f and I visited the Ranche for the first time and really enjoyed our brunch as everything we ordered was so flavourful, so we thought it would also be good to try out the dinner menu. We ordered the fish entrees ealier this week and although the waitering was excellent and professional, we were disappointed with our meals as the fish was over cooked, dry and lacking a flavourful sauce or the right mixture of ingredients that makes fine dining that extra bit more worth it. The dessert (apple/fig) was far too sweet for the adult palette."

  • "We celebrated my Mom's 81st Birthday at the Ranche with High Tea. Although not the traditional High Tea, the food was delicious, both from the brunch menu as well as the high tea menu. We did however wait quite a while for our dishes to be cleared and offered dessert, but otherwise was a great time!"

  • "My husband chose the Elk and I had the lamb shank last Friday evening; both were cooked perfectly. presentation was wonderful and the service was excellent, and overall the restaurant has a lovely ambience. We will definitely be returning. It's definitely a place to consider for your special occasions, or to bring an important client."

  • "We had the 6 course tasting menu - only the main course of halibut & lamb chops was really outstanding. Otherwise the food was good, but not amazing (e.g., pheasant was dry, foie gras was cold in middle). They also brought my husband a pecan cheesecake for dessert after our server had already asked if we had any allergies & we had confirmed the tree nut allergy. She was very apologetic, however, & mistakes do happen, but it could've gone badly had I not noticed. I think when we go back, which we will simply because we love the location & ambience so much - we will order off the menu rather than the set courses. Also, we had mentioned we were celebrating a birthday & nothing special was done, which was unusual."

We had a little delay in getting our desert (we even didn't notice it), and we were offered free drinks, however we already had enough drinks, so they offered the deserts for free, that's was I call customer service. Overall great restaurant with a great location and good food and service, will surely go back again!"

There are a few other fine dining restaurants in Calgary and we have enjoyed them too. They adjusted the food fine, but I picked this place because, even though it was fancier for us, it still had kid options. But otherwise, it was an awesome experience."

  • "I'm visiting Calgary and met up with a friend there that I hadn't seen in a year. The restaurant staff were great at accommodating our 'chattiness' and we never felt rushed or that they were annoyed at our having been there for so long which I really appreciated. Plus the food and coffee were both excellent. I'd been there for supper before but never brunch so I was pleasantly surprised to see all the different types and group sizes and ages of people present. Want to return with the whole fam for a brunch. Plus, that beautiful wilderness view can't be beat! :-)"

  • "Went there for an aniversary dinner. The place was not too busy, which surprised us as the location and decor are top notch. The building is old, but we dig that. The food was fantastic, very rich. This is a protein centered menu, so make sure you are into that. We had a great night and the service was fantastic. The food is pricey, so at least for us, it is now a special occasion place."

  • "We were looking forward to trying the new restaurant in this old gem of a building. The decor & ambience are still wonderful, and the service was very good. However, I was disappointed in the brunch menu as it was very limited in selection for non-egg eating vegetarians - the choice came down to between 2 salads. As this was brunch, I was hoping for a vegetarian hash, or risotto etc. - something hot and breakfast-y. Not sure if we'll be back to try the dinner menu."

  • "Great place. Went for brunch last weekend to celebrate my husbands bday. They were very accomodating and even ordered a crave cake for us. Which turned out to be cheaper than if I had gone and bought one. The food was great and it was beautiful. I wish they had a larger breakfast style selection as many items were more lunch foods. The servers also forgot to bring coffee to the decaf crowd (there were 10 if us) but they were very apologetic and quick to help when we asked the second time. They were really friendly and great about our 2.5 yr old and his obsession with the window. Overall it was lovely"

I would highly recommend Bow Valley Ranche restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in a beautiful setting. The fact that this restaurant is in Fish Creek Park, does make it a little out of the way, however, this also means it has a very unique and beautiful setting."

  • "Lovely restaurant. Lovely setting. The food was simply flawless, with service to match. A meal here is clearly going to cost you more than one at Dennys, but the pricing is not all all unreasonable for the quality of food and service - a ballpark of $75-$100 a head for 3 course dinner with drinks (and if you really do want to spend spend spend, there's a few things on the wine list that will satisfy that urge). We will definitely be going back, and I would have no hesitation at all in recommending the Bow Valley Ranche to anyone."

  • "With the new management we were excited to try the new menu. Our table in the corner (very nice) started rough when the young girl who sat us dropped the extra cutlery that she was clearing. No apology and several items were left on the floor. We ordered the Chateaubriand for Two and when it was delivered to the table, it was dumped on the edge of the table on a wooden slab and the server left. I had to rearrange the table so that we could reach the meal. While I was serving, our waiter returned and suggested that he could help distribute the meal (as is usual for Chateaubriand). His apology was the staff was “scared” of the new dish and didn’t know how to serve it. He did fine until he dropped a spoonful of veggies all over my husband."

For dinner we had the wild boar wellington and the arctic char for our main courses, both were delicious! The service was great as well, very well timed and we never felt rushed.   • "A historical location recently renovated and reopened in February. The decor was well-done and added to the distinctive ambiance of the Ranche, but we questioned the selection of laminate flooring as out of character with the historic nature of the house. It did not dull our experience, however, as we selected special creations from the chef's "Valentine's Day" menu. The portion size was generous. Our waiter was very attentive, polite and helpful. While our Wild Boar Wellington (slightly under-seasoned) and Arctic Char were very good, our plan is to return to the Ranche soon and enjoy selections from their regular menu as well. Be sure you leave room for their Chocolate Souffle'! You will not be disappointed!"

  • "Beautiful location! The place had a new, bright, and warm atmosphere. Service was outstanding. The meal portions were surprisingly very large and plating and presentation very elegant. The dishes were all warmed which made the food more appetizing. The soup was a bit bland - Lobster Blisque. We had the Chateaubriand for two, and quite frankly, the portion was almost too much! The reason that Iwe had the Chateaubriand was, unfortunately, there was no beef choice except for the Chateaubriand. Maybe since this was a Valentine's Day Menu, the menu was a bit different. For anyone liking beef, you didn't have a choice. Dessert was superb! Pricing was very expensive.."

  • "This was our first time there since Great Events took over. The inside hasn't changed much except the floor and walk paint. The food is still first class! I had a lobster bisque which was my first time. The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. It is expensive but so worth it. I can't wait for summer to sit on the veranda. The staff was very friendly and helpful."
