  • "We booked the Bow valley Ranche for Eter brunch, not being sure if it would be the same great quality as we knew the management had changed. We vere very pleased with our meals, the service and the the great ambience and would definitely go back again."

  • "This is my 3rd visit to the Ranche but the first time with the whole family and I was pleasantly surprised on how well our server and the rest of the staff treated the kids. They had a great time and they enjoyed all their food. One of my kids went to the kids buffet and the other from the brunch menu. All the food was delicious and the service was immaculate. Every time I come I am reminded why I continue to visit."

  • "First time to BVRR - Our party of five ordered a host of appetizers and entries. Oysters were fresh with good accompaniments, tortellini were delicious and accompanied with some excellent beef steak tidbits. Potato/leak soup was gobbled completely by my kids. Striploin was overcooked from the medium rare I ordered but it was a very good cut of meat so still edible. The lamb, risotto, salmon were excellent. My kids loved the death by chocolate for desert and the nights special was a simple souffle baked to perfection . Service was EXCELLENT, and we appreciated the measured pace of the meal. No rush to get us out the door. Bunnies and deer on the grounds as we walked back to our parking spot. We will be back soon."

  • "We went here for Sunday Brunch and it was so amazing we just had to go back for dinner! The Brunch is wonderful and the setting (being right in Fish Creek Park) is perfect for a nice walk through the park afterwards. Best Eggs Benedict ever! :) As for dinner, the lamb was the best I've had and the fig pudding is to die for! Oh, and they have this amazing green tea after dinner drink! I've never had anything like it! Not something I would have ever thought to order but the manager, Arthur, recommended it so I thought I would give it a try and I'm so glad I did! The service was warm and friendly yet unobtrusive and professional which is exactly what I hope for when I dine out but rarely get. Thank you Bow Valley Ranche!"

  • "Outstanding service. Made to feel special. The food for the most part was excellent. One item fell short of expectations and staff were quick to respond and offer alternatives. We left feeling eager to return again. Would highly recommend."

  • "Didn't have any expectations walking in and was very surprised by how nice the food was!"

  • "Six of us headed out for an unexpected celebration and were surprised at how "very good" the quality of the food was. We tried the beef, lamb shank, stuffed chicken and char along with the vegetarian dish. We are tasters, so we all had a chance to try the offerings and other than overly salty rissotto (good but salty) the fare we very, very good. Note - the Oysters were tiny, really tiny, but good:( Spectacular room (a little loud). Service was there when you required it and not interupting when you were enjoying your dinning experience, which I rate as perfect and highly professional. It's moderate to high as far as price is concerned. I'd definitely return as it's the only "true fine dining establishment" in the far South. JVD"

  • "An early season Tuesday night. The dining room was quiet. The deer grazing on the hill side just outside the window we were seated at set a wonderful mood. The venison was cooked to perfection and served with baby carrots and a parsnip puree that was sweet light and left you wanting more. Two others in our group ordered the steak. They both ordered different temperatures and both came cooked to perfection. The special was Halibut with langoustine. My wife enjoyed it immensely. The portions were the perfect size, especially if you had the appetizer and intended desert. The sharing platter had a great assortment of cured meats and cheeses, there was also a pate and a couple of relishes. The deserts were light and not to large. Sublime"

  • "Last year my b/f and I visited the Ranche for the first time and really enjoyed our brunch as everything we ordered was so flavourful, so we thought it would also be good to try out the dinner menu. We ordered the fish entrees ealier this week and although the waitering was excellent and professional, we were disappointed with our meals as the fish was over cooked, dry and lacking a flavourful sauce or the right mixture of ingredients that makes fine dining that extra bit more worth it. The dessert (apple/fig) was far too sweet for the adult palette."

  • "We celebrated my Mom's 81st Birthday at the Ranche with High Tea. Although not the traditional High Tea, the food was delicious, both from the brunch menu as well as the high tea menu. We did however wait quite a while for our dishes to be cleared and offered dessert, but otherwise was a great time!"

  • "My husband chose the Elk and I had the lamb shank last Friday evening; both were cooked perfectly. presentation was wonderful and the service was excellent, and overall the restaurant has a lovely ambience. We will definitely be returning. It's definitely a place to consider for your special occasions, or to bring an important client."

  • "We had the 6 course tasting menu - only the main course of halibut & lamb chops was really outstanding. Otherwise the food was good, but not amazing (e.g., pheasant was dry, foie gras was cold in middle). They also brought my husband a pecan cheesecake for dessert after our server had already asked if we had any allergies & we had confirmed the tree nut allergy. She was very apologetic, however, & mistakes do happen, but it could've gone badly had I not noticed. I think when we go back, which we will simply because we love the location & ambience so much - we will order off the menu rather than the set courses. Also, we had mentioned we were celebrating a birthday & nothing special was done, which was unusual."

  • "I went to the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. We had a little delay in getting our desert (we even didn't notice it), and we were offered free drinks, however we already had enough drinks, so they offered the deserts for free, that's was I call customer service. Overall great restaurant with a great location and good food and service, will surely go back again!"

  • "The food was excellent though 45 minutes wait time for our order to arrive seemed a little long. For the most part, interaction with the staff was pleasant and welcoming but some wait staff seemed aloof and guardedly reserved. More smiles more often would make for a more inviting atmosphere."

  • "Hands down this is the best fine dining experience in Calgary. Everything about our evening was awesome. Stunning venue, service, food and drink. We will be back for more ! There are a few other fine dining restaurants in Calgary and we have enjoyed them too. However the combination of venue, service, wine list and the quality of the food make this place the winner for us. Thanks for a memorable night Bow Valley"

  • "It was great food and a great setting for sure. The website does list a kids menu though, but there was not one when we got there. They adjusted the food fine, but I picked this place because, even though it was fancier for us, it still had kid options. But otherwise, it was an awesome experience."

  • "I'm visiting Calgary and met up with a friend there that I hadn't seen in a year. The restaurant staff were great at accommodating our 'chattiness' and we never felt rushed or that they were annoyed at our having been there for so long which I really appreciated. Plus the food and coffee were both excellent. I'd been there for supper before but never brunch so I was pleasantly surprised to see all the different types and group sizes and ages of people present. Want to return with the whole fam for a brunch. Plus, that beautiful wilderness view can't be beat! :-)"

  • "Went there for an aniversary dinner. The place was not too busy, which surprised us as the location and decor are top notch. The building is old, but we dig that. The food was fantastic, very rich. This is a protein centered menu, so make sure you are into that. We had a great night and the service was fantastic. The food is pricey, so at least for us, it is now a special occasion place."

  • "Great food. The atmosphere, service and the food was superb. By far one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant in years."

  • "We were looking forward to trying the new restaurant in this old gem of a building. The decor & ambience are still wonderful, and the service was very good. However, I was disappointed in the brunch menu as it was very limited in selection for non-egg eating vegetarians - the choice came down to between 2 salads. As this was brunch, I was hoping for a vegetarian hash, or risotto etc. - something hot and breakfast-y. Not sure if we'll be back to try the dinner menu."

  • "My daughter and I enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Bow Valley Ranch. The food and service where both fantastic. Try the Crispy Pork Belly it is a great appetizer. Main courses where amazing. My daughters comment on the desert Death By Chocolate is that it made her taste buds dance!! The expert wine pairings, food quality and service ranks with the best in Calgary."

  • "Great place. Went for brunch last weekend to celebrate my husbands bday. They were very accomodating and even ordered a crave cake for us. Which turned out to be cheaper than if I had gone and bought one. The food was great and it was beautiful. I wish they had a larger breakfast style selection as many items were more lunch foods. The servers also forgot to bring coffee to the decaf crowd (there were 10 if us) but they were very apologetic and quick to help when we asked the second time. They were really friendly and great about our 2.5 yr old and his obsession with the window. Overall it was lovely"

  • "Our first time here. Very appealing place with excellent choices for brunch. Was surprised juices weren't fresh-squeezed and our waitress was slow responding, despite place wasn't full. Men's washroom didn't have a changing station for infants (don't know about women's)"

  • "My salad, and my spouse's soup were fantastic, very flavourful! My main dish (flounder), was less so, the sauce promised taste, but was flat. My spouse's chicken was so so. The dessert (pavlova) was divine, we shared :) and the decaf espresso's were also very good."

  • "My Fiance and I celebrated our one year engagement here on Saturday. The food was absolutely amazing, good size portions and the flavours were well balanced and varied. I would highly recommend Bow Valley Ranche restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in a beautiful setting. The fact that this restaurant is in Fish Creek Park, does make it a little out of the way, however, this also means it has a very unique and beautiful setting."

  • "I feel so fortunate that this gem is in my neighborhood. We went there for brunch on a Sunday morning and had a fantastic meal. This is a place that everyone in the city should visit at the minimum once. I can't wait to go for dinner now. The staff is professional and friendly and the decor makes you feel welcome. Really, you must go!"

  • "Lovely restaurant. Lovely setting. The food was simply flawless, with service to match. A meal here is clearly going to cost you more than one at Dennys, but the pricing is not all all unreasonable for the quality of food and service - a ballpark of $75-$100 a head for 3 course dinner with drinks (and if you really do want to spend spend spend, there's a few things on the wine list that will satisfy that urge). We will definitely be going back, and I would have no hesitation at all in recommending the Bow Valley Ranche to anyone."

  • "Lovely ambience but I was freezing. We moved our table further away from the vent but it was still very cold. The chacouterieboard has been a fave and with the new changes it wasn't as good. The main meal had very generous meat portions so that was a plus."

  • "Still the great food and service we have come to expect over the last five years."

  • "Truly the most amazing place to dine, the food was layered with flavors, the presentation was fantastic, the service was unsurpassed, in my mind the best food and service anywhere in Calgary, and the sommelier was a gem."

  • "With the new management we were excited to try the new menu. Our table in the corner (very nice) started rough when the young girl who sat us dropped the extra cutlery that she was clearing. No apology and several items were left on the floor. We ordered the Chateaubriand for Two and when it was delivered to the table, it was dumped on the edge of the table on a wooden slab and the server left. I had to rearrange the table so that we could reach the meal. While I was serving, our waiter returned and suggested that he could help distribute the meal (as is usual for Chateaubriand). His apology was the staff was “scared” of the new dish and didn’t know how to serve it. He did fine until he dropped a spoonful of veggies all over my husband."

  • "The setting of this beautifully restored residence is wonderful, a tranquil prairie oasis in Calgary's Fish Creek Park. My wife and I ordered from the Brunch menu which has a limited, but eclectic selection. We definitely will return when we can select from the full Dinner menu. Out hearty serving size meals arrived hot, well presented and in a timely manner."
