The food was excellent. Had the chef do an eggs bennie and it was delicious. The buffet was well stocked with a large variety of food and fruit. Coffee was served very timely. We were asked a number of times if we needed anything else, staff was very attentive. All in all an excellent experience.

  • Sunday evening meal

It was good to be able to book by email, but that was probably the best feature of the evening. We arrived at the Fairmont Bow Valley Grill on a glorious Sunday evening, having heard my sister rave about the place. There was a reception on the terrace outside, so the view was therefore non existent. This was very disappointing. There was a distinct lack of atmosphere, seated in a big low ceilinged room. Server was fine, but girl who showed us to our table had a condescending manner. Food was fine, but certainly not outstanding. Overall, I don't think I would be tempted to return.

We enjoyed the ambiance very much. We were celebrating our anniversary and had no difficulty having a discussion that was easy to hear and private as well. The menu choices were a bit more limited than we expected from a 'Smokehouse Grill' as we would have liked to see at least one other cut of steak and perhaps a chicken/rib combination. The food we received was very tasty. I shared mine with my husband because the amount of food in his selection was small. He had the Atlantic Salmon and was still hungry.

This is a pretty spot with fairly standard hotel food, but spoiled by poor service. Hostesses ask diners to wait in a seating area in a ordered line for a vacant dining room because they have only one person taking diners to their tables. The wait for an empty dining room makes a bad first impression. But it gets worse. We had knives dropped on our table from a two-foot height, no bread served ("Oh, I forgot."), and mineral water that was never refilled. There's a splitting fee for sharing anything. With prices hovering around $40 for an entree, we expected more.

I have been to the Bow Valley Grill several times. Each time we have been there we are never disappointed. There is a variety of foods offered for everyone's liking. That staff is very friendly and accommodating to your needs. The hotel is beautiful and worth a few minutes to poke around before leaving. I believe we have been to this restaurant now during every season and have to admit that winter is my favorite time (especially around Christmas). Guaranteed that we will be back again soon!

Wow, what a view! The extensive buffet spread is bar-none, and the service exquisite! Everything that we would expect of a high quality Fairmont establishment. Hostess Elizabeth was very informative as to activities to do in the area, and really made our special day memorable.

Went for sunday brunch on Aug 3 and was seated as far away from the windows as possible in amongst a sea of babies that took turns outdoing each other in the screaming dept. I askes to be seated elsewhere but was told nothing was available even though a table on the lower level remained unoccupied the whole time. As well ouf server had a poor attitude and was bossy and seemed more interested in what everyone was going to do that night. Food was very good though as usual.

The food was great but I hadn't been to the Bow Valley in years and had such a great brunch back then. I remember baked apples and waffles...yum! Now, there are few breakfast items and more lunch items. I was a little disappointed. Service was excellent though! I feel like they were trying to accommodate for everyone which is nice but the brunch had already been so good in the past. The price of the buffet also went up.

We booked this restaurant online having never heard of it before, but it was our 15 wedding anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere special. Well we sure got what we were looking for. The restaurant is gorgeous. The view is breathtaking. Our waitress Staci was fantastic. The food was AMAZING. Our boys, aged 12 and 13, were raving about the food even the next day. I wish I could attach pictures. Thanks for a memorable evening.

We've been going to banff springs for brunch over the years and still enjoy the restaurant and atmosphere of the banff springs hotel. The buffet is good but nothing really outstanding and a bit overpriced for what's available in selections of food items. Service was good and friendly staff. If your planning a day in banff then the buffet is a good starting point for exploring the hotel and grounds

I recently enjoyed the breakfast buffet at this location. The price was somewhat steep, but you do get what you pay for! Lots of good food and very good service! I only wish the dessert section was a little more "wow". But nothing major to complain about. But be ready, if you want a quiet brunch this may not be the place, lots of families an a very energetic atmosphere. Children had their own buffet table that was lowered to their hight with all the kid classics on it, but still very tasty, super cute! Oh! and get the orange juice if you can, very fresh and delicious. All in all, a very fun and lavish way to start your day in banff!

One has to dine at the Fairmont in Banff where you can enjoy a view of the fantastic Canadian Rockies while being pampered by first-class service and very good food. The waiter even went out of his way to get a bottle of wine from the bar that was not on the restaurant wine list. The bar service and bartender were great also. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Went here for Fathers Day dinner. The steak was very good. My dad who had salmon thought it wasn't that good. My husband didn't enjoy the roasted chicken. Our server was not as friendly as we would have liked. Did not recommend anything, did not offer a refill for people who got pop. Our food took a long time to come. Not sure if I'd go back for dinner but maybe I'd try their brunch.

I've had my share of brunches from cruise ships to 5 star hotels. The Fairmont's Easter Brunch is top of the list- excellent array of tasty foods for every palate, separate kid's area complete with free face painting. Carved ham and beef, lots of salads, outstanding seafood including smoked salmon and shrimp plus an endless desserts. All beautifully displayed- chocolate easter bunnies, bunny shaped breads, real Easter eggs on each table, etc. Service was also top notch- I had to wait for my partner's daughter to get her face painted, so our hostess came over and asked if I would like coffee. She promptly brought it to me. We've decided to make this an annual event- not to be missed. Oh and did I mention the chocolate fountain?

We've enjoyed brunch here many times, but this time was a disappointment. We were put in an infrequently used room with leftover tables and banquet chairs. Were never offered a wine/mimosa menu. Coffee was refilled only when asked for, coffee grounds in cup were just ignored, cup not replaced. Hot foods were all cold, although tasted good otherwise. Perhaps best to go on a regular Sunday, not on a special one.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our late lunch here on the first Saturday in April. We were at the end of a great trip to southeastern British Columbia and Banff and stopped here on our drive from Fairmont Hot Springs, BC, back to Calgary. We were so impressed by the superb quality and extensive variety of entrees, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, salads, chilled and warm appetizers, breads and desserts. The venison stew, beef medallions, grilled fish, and poultry dishes were superb. Our table by one of the huge windows afforded magnificent views of the mountains. We felt at home and were very comfortable. The service was excellent.

Needing a last minute reservation on a Friday night for three, this place was the only one with availability at the Fairmont. That tells you something. The restaurant is large, LARGE. We were greeted warmly and the service was friendly. Not fine dining by any standards but comfortable. The good was a tad on the $$ side for what you got, but they tried. We tried the seasonal menu and wine pairing ($85/pp). The pairings were great (the wine portions) and the price was equivalent to what you could order from the main menu anyway. We liked our meals, but there was nothing exceptional about them. I would only go back if we were ago without plans on a busy evening. I won't remember what I ate here in a day or so.

Brunch here is worth the drive and the money - incredients are top notch, servers are friendly and welcoming and un-pretentious given the pomp that often surrounds the springs. The views are hard to beat as is the choice and quality of the buffet. I have to remind myself to do a walk through and resist the urge to pile up a full plate at the first station. The salad station is really well done with fresh ingredients (the pesto boccaccini is amazing) and beyond that the warm food stations are delicious - the meatballs and curry dishes are beyond good. Having brunch here with a couple of mimosas, overlooking the mountains with some good company is a pretty great way to start a day.
