My mother and I absolutely love this restaurant, but we'd only come here with a deal, because the prices are a bit high. We had come for dinner a while back, and liked it so much that we jumped at the chance to go to brunch when Scoutmob had 50% off. We split the frittata, eggs benedict, and french toast. The frittata was good, but nothing special, but the eggs benedict was the best I've ever had. And the french toast, which we had as dessert, was to die for. We can't wait until there's another deal, because we LOVE this restaurant!

BES used to be an it-spot as long as the originators ran the place. A bit chaotic, with excellent food, good service, and—what a fabulous scene. When the face of BES left in 2011 after months of hefty disputes with its owners, an embarrassing media battle flared up, fueled by gossip and spite. No longer at cruising altitude, BES started its descent: Gone was the scene, and soon thereafter the quality of service. The turbulences were worth the commendable cuisine for a while—but unsurprisingly, where there's injury, there is always room for insult: What are forgotten starters, cold fries, or notoriously sold out seafood good for? Buckle up and brace for impact. BES, rendered dysfunctional, is approaching oblivion.

We waited for quite a while after we were seated and before anyone came to take our drink orders. Wait staff did not know the menu and we were not informed that a couple of items were not available on ordering. They did not bring the right silverware or plates to go with our orders. The only saving grace were the decent cocktails. But in all it was disappointing.

I was told to check out BES about 1-2 years ago, so my expectations were elevated. The decor of the restaurant is GREAT. The bar, while not very large, is welcoming and rounded to provide more seating than usual. The staff was friendly (it was also the bartneder's first night) and courteous.
First of all, we wanted to order a bottle of wine. There are less than 10 options, and thye only had ONE that night. Seriously?
The foof was barely "good". The mussels weren't bad, but the typically flavorful broth lacked depth. For entrees, the lambchop wasn't bad, but didn't stand out. The fish was well-cooked but didn't have much flavor.

We had cocktails, appetizer, entrees and dessert and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Everything was tasty, nice presentation, much care in service. Though this restaurant is pricier than where we usually dine, we were satisfied with our "splurge" because the food was so good.

I have eaten at B.E.S. in the past for brunch. Brunch was busy and the food was great. The french toast with corn flakes and nutella is something worth visiting for. I expected the same experience this time for dinner, but was deeply disappointed. Most of the items from the menu were not available, and the waitress failed to advise us until we ordered. The bread was stale and the brownie our waitress recommended us was rock hard. Although our servers were kind and checked with us several times throughout the night, food and service is not the same as it used to be.
