Diner Reviews
  • "I have eaten at Bourbon Bistro several times for dinner. The entrees and service have always been exemplary. I decided to take my mom to brunch on Easter Sunday. We were a little disappointed in the food selection. It was breakfast food only and by 12:30, we were looking forward to having some lunch items. I would suggest including some pork or beef medallions, maybe a pasta dish and/or salad; so you have the choice of breakfast, lunch or a little of both. What was served was good, but the only meat was bacon. I think for the price, it should have some other selections. I will return for dinner and drinks (great!), but probably not for brunch. Thank you!"

  • "I was recommended to Bourbons as a better alternative to places like Ruth Chris and Stoney River. This didn't disappoint! Best dinner in awhile, great service that was extremely knowledgeable. Definitely a great spot for upscale dining."

  • "Three in our party and two of us did not like their meal. Steak Frites, the steak was very tough, could not chew some of it. The pork was not cooked long enough for my husbands taste and it was tough. Salmon was good. Goat cheese appetizer was good. missed the pork belly appetizer that used to be on the menu."

  • "We were first timers and were treated like we knew the owner!"

  • "Visiting from Chicago and saw Bourbons Bistro listed as a top bar in Louisville. The food, service and atmosphere did not disappoint. We'd definitely go back when we're in Louisville!"

  • "We had a groupon that was about to expire and no babysitter, so my husband and I took our 11-month old daughter with us. We didn't feel that her high chair was in the way of other customers or the wait staff. And our waitress was so friendly and laid back and took the time to play with our daughter. This is definitely a special occasion place for us due to the cost, but it was a nice date night out and "family night out.""

  • "We've been to BB several times as part of the urban Bourbon tour, and enjoyed each visit immensely. However, we'd not dined there before. Both the appetizers and the main course were delectable, and the dessert was excellent, though the bread pudding portion seemed very large ( can one really take issue with too much dessert?). The food was excellent, and everything we had imagined. This will become a routine stp for us Cincinnatians anytime we are in Louisville!"

  • "The food and service were spot on. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the chocolate lava cake with bourbon caramel glaze was amazing. And the bourbon selection is second to none. Great place for drinks or a great dinner."

  • "The food was excellent but the chairs are some of the most uncomfortable that I've ever sat in at a restaurant. I actually texted two different people who recommended this place and they acknowledged that the chairs were very uncomfortable as well. The food and service were great, and the maple old fashioned is an interesting drink to try, if you're a bourbon fan."

  • "I was only in town for one night and wanted to find a place that was unique and would give me a taste of Louisville (and bourbon). This place hit the spot. Outstanding food and flights of bourbon to educate the palate. Great, knowledgeable staff and price was right. Highly recommended."

  • "Food was great, service excellent - a little on the noisy side for a "romantic" dinner, but not overly rambunctious... Extensive Bourbon choices... Great place to experiment."

  • "The goat cheese and garlic dip was wonderful. We also enjoyed the steak and pork chop. Had a great time, would definitely recommend it."

  • "We had a party of 8 and as the restaurant filled up you could hardly hear the person next to you speak. While the food was good it took to long to be served and one of the entrees was forgotten entirely. They do better with smaller crowds. Weeknights only."

  • "We've been to bourbons several times and the food is always great! It's cozy and can get pretty loud if there is a large party having dinner but the food is excellent and their bourbon list is top notch!"

  • "We had high hopes for a date night at Bourbons Bistro but were served grand dishes of disappointment. My experience began with a review or their sizable bourbon list; however, they were out of my selection. Ok, bourbon is experiencing a boom time and I can forgive being out of stock of a craft selection, so I opted for a Manhattan thinking any decent bistro named after great whisky would have a top notch bourbon-based cocktail. The Manhattan tasted like a glass of vermouth with two shots a cherry juice. I set aside and eventually ordered a replacement Michter's small batch. My main course was the Duck Burger, which was swimming in goat cheese. The burger had good flavor and I like goat cheese but it was over the top."

  • "My hsband and I wanted a special date, just him and I before our baby arrives and this restaurant was perfect for a romantic evening, just the two of us."

  • "We go to Louisville a few times a year to see Broadway shows and have trouble finding new places to eat downtown that are unique and offer good food at not too over-the-top prices. The service was prompt, the food was very good and had great flavor! Even the burger tasted like something you wouldn't find anywhere else. The French toast was different and tasty, too! The brunch menu isn't extensive, but that's likely what makes the food great. They concentrate on doing a few things WELL instead of a lot of things "okay". The only downside is that (on a winter day) it was pretty cold inside the restaurant. I am guessing it is the old-style brickwork that makes it colder. Other than that, this is a great Bourbon Trail place not to be missed!"

  • "I was disappointed as a vegetarian that the only option on the menu for an entrée was a beet salad. Really?? In this day and age being vegetarian is quite common. I thought it was unimaginative on the part of the chef and a bit cliche to offer a salad. Get it together Bourbon Bistro- other restaurants around town are catering to this segment of the population. And until you make an effort to engage that segment of the population, we will be going elsewhere."

  • "I planned a dinner for 20 out-of-town guests at this restaurant. The food was okay however two guests did not receive their food until everyone had finished eating. The manager nor the server offered to take the meals off the bill or Offer any remedy for this poor service. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant for large parties."

  • "Great bourbon flights, my husband really enjoyed that.....I drove home :-) Menu was nicely varied.....nice seafood selections. I had the Salmon with basil pesto & the arugula salad. My husband and son had the Creek-stone filet. Very tender, cooked to perfection. We also had the fried chicken livers as an app, one of my favorites when visiting Louisville. It's one of the few cities that many restaurants have sautéed or fried chicken livers."

  • "When people think of Bourbon's Bistro they think of a bar housing and serving one of the largest collections of bourbon, in a commonwealth that truly is the bourbon capitol of the world, and they are correct on all counts. What they perhaps overlook is well prepared and presented food at reasonable prices in a great atmosphere. Chef Jeff Bridges is constantly looking for dishes that he showcases nightly that are not only innovate but that pair well with the selection of well over 100 bourbons sold and served by the masterful mixologists. This place has a casual laid back feel and with the addition of an amazing private dining and entertaining space on their second floor it truly is a great spot to frequent on a regular basis."

  • "They had a speci menu for 502 week. You got a salad, entre and a desert each for 2 people for $50.20. We did the 502 menu and it was delicious. We were afraid the portions would be small since it was a special but they weren't. We were quite impressed, it was delicious and filling. There was a large group there before us but our food still came out at a reasonable time. Overall it was a great experience."

  • "We have been to Bournon's about 3 times. I was disappointed in the small quantity of vegetables you get. When the dish is described that it comes with kale and asparagus, I expect more than 4 tbls of kale and 3 asparagus. I was also disappointed with the service; we had 6 people. 3 people had their dishes mixed up. My wife ended up with a med/rare steak that was supposed to be someone elses. 1/3 of the way through it, she figured it out. Also, it took a long time to get our appetizers. ON the positive side, my shot ribs dish was excellent."

  • "Great atmosphere.... I had the duck and my date had the bass- both delicious. Enjoyed the bourbon flight over the bread pudding. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a quiet dinner and a great selection of bourbon."

  • "Bourbons never disappoints! It was the opportunity for the others in my group to try Bourbons for the first time, they were impressed. The food was excellent and the service was too. I highly recommend the olive oil cake, it was delicious."

  • "The bar area was crowded and lively on a Friday evening. We were originally to be seated near this area, but our hostess graciously agreed to seat us a little further back. Our waitress was very personable and responsive, and offered a great substitution to the wine I originally ordered. Our entrees were average and a bit overcooked (herb crusted chicken). The bread pudding dessert was the highlight and was done just right. We will come back, but may opt for the happy hour experience."

  • "Trying to find a place to enjoy a meal with a 92 year old ... who likes bourbon was made super easy by this place. Truly a fantastic find. The only negative was the parking side of it. That aside, the food was very tasty. The opportunity to do bourbon flights and the ambiance was perfect. All in all, I would love to go back to this place and will next time I'm in Louisville."

  • "We were so impressed with this darling restaurant! Wanted to try a new place in Louisville...drove down from Cincinnati to meet friends and knew about their bourbon selection. We had a bourbon flight and a few samples of wines as well. Since we all love bourbon, wine and great food-this place had it all! Omar, our server, was great and very attentive to our needs. We will be back, with more friends!"

  • "We went to Bourbon's Bistro last Saturday and it was fantastic! We started with the Pork Belly as an appetizer along with some wine/bourbon. I ordered the salmon and my husband had the steak frites. Both were quite tasty. To finish off our night, we had the olive oil cake and bourbon balls. I would def recommend a reservation ahead of time to avoid any long wait."

  • "My wife and I went to dinner here after seeing the restaraunt featured in a local magazine. We were certainly impressed. I had the prosciutto wrapped pork chop - simply amazing. They have Over 100 bourbons to choose from for a cocktail. The kitchen is open to the street so when you walk up you can see the chefs prepping good, very unique! Great place, would definitely go back."

  • "A group of four tried BB and had a nice time. Our waiter was attentive and courteous, ambience good and food was great. I had a burger and fries(which is the least creative dish there) and it was cooked perfectly. My ceasar salad was crisp and ample and flavorful. The rest of the table enjoyed their meal as well. We did not get dessert. We were just looking for casual dining and did not explore the full menu. I will return- perhaps for a special occasion as it is pricey."
