Diner Reviews
  • "I was disappointed, the wine we ordered was a very small pour looks like they were trying to squeeze 5 or 6 pours out of a bottle? The food was good 3 Scallops for $24.00? Scallops cost them $2.00 a piece but felt the portion was small all around. Expensive night for 2 our total was $77.00 and we left hungry. 2 drinks no apps or dessert???"

  • "My fiancé and I are novice bourbon connoisseurs. This place had them all and the staff know their born on REALLY well! Food is amazing, some of the best in town!"

  • "My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves at bourbons bistro. We don't often go out (we have 2 small children) so we always choose carefully when we have the rare opportunity to eat out alone. My husband enjoyed his pork chop and the homemade bourbon ice cream. My favorite part of the meal was the olive oil cake, id say it was the best dessert I have ever had! We will return on our next date night (whenever that may be)."

  • "After many years of passing by on our way to other restaurants, we stopped for dinner with two friends. We should have stopped much sooner. The menu was not very long, but it offered a very nice selection of farm to table, freshly prepared starters and entrees. The wine list also offered several favorites, and reasonable pricing. The bourbon list is extensive, and includes "flights" - an opportunity to select several matched "tastings". Shannon, our server, was personable, efficient, and knowledgeable. We highly recommend that you try this restaurant."

  • "We had a great time at the father's day brunch. There was something for everyone and the waitstaff was very attentive. Thanks!"

  • "Try the pork tenderloin -- moist, tender, flavorful. Service was outstanding. Husband said his steak was good, but lacked flavor."

  • "This restaurant is wonderful. The bourbon selections, appetizers, main courses, and desserts are all to-die-for. Calamari w chorizo, pork tenderloin w proschuitto wrapped asparagus, soy-braised short ribs, finished it off w bourbon balls. Everything was delicious!!!"

  • "My husband and I had a Groupon so decided to try Bourbon's Bistro. It was fabulous! We had Spicy Fried Oysters & Lobster Bruschetta for appetizers. My husband had the scallop dish and said the scallops melted in your mouth. I had the pork dish and it was so tender. The flavors of everything was wonderful. The selection of Bourbon was almost overwhelming! We took our desserts to go (we were so full from our meal). The bread pudding was delicious and the Bourbon balls were the best I have ever tasted! We can't wait to dine there again. "

  • "Had a pre-concert meal that was great. My husband loved his steak and I was delighted with the pork tenderloin. After selecting a dessert, the waitress surprised me by telling us it was on them since it was my birthday celebration. It even came with a candle to blow out."

  • "The bar and bartender are the reasons why I like to go there. They really need to work on their variety of food options."

  • "Bourbons Bistro is a great special occasion/group meeting place. Its dark but you can talk intimately w/ others at your table. We ordered scallops, duck, oysters and wings & they were all exceptionally flavored and the portions seemed right. Our bourbon samples were labeled on little cards so we knew what we had. Overall, a great experience. "

  • "We hadn't been to Bourbon's for a year or two. They've made some changes to the menu, all for the better except for the omission of the late, great fried green tomato appetizer. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The food was very good. I had the pork tenderloin and would recommend it although the hamburger looked delicious and was reportedly so. We'll be back much sooner this time!"

  • "Very good brunch plus very tender and moist fried chicken. Down side was arriving late in the afternoon after many items were gone. Had to wait for the food to be replenished. Service was good and pleasant surroundings."

  • "Dined at Bourbons Bistro on a Saturday night. Restaurant was busy and the crowd was energetic. Food was excellent. Our steaks were among the best that we've had in recent memory and the sides were creative takes on old favorites, with a few new delicious adventures. Bourbon list is the most extensive that we have encountered. Bourbon cocktails were refreshing. Overall, a great dining experience."

  • "This is one of our go to restaurants when entertaining out of town guests. Incredible array of Bourbons but I suggest you try some of their Bourbon based cocktails. Simple yet elegant fare. Highly recommend the duck burger. Try some of the Bourbon flights."

  • "Unique and tasty bourbon drinks. The filet and mushroom bread pudding were excellent flavors. Fun wine list. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. "

  • "Great service. Server was sweet and efficient. Bustling dining room. Not happy that the full menu was not being offered (no burger or duck burger) and I was not informed. Filet was mediocre and had poor texture...seemed like the meat was in the freezer."

  • "We had dinner at Bourbons Bistro on 5/1/14. They were very good about accommodating a change in reservation time when we were delayed. We were seated promptly and the service was good throughout dinner. The selection of bourbons are second to none and the server's recommendations were very good. The place filled up while we ate and became extremely noisy - a combination of some very loud patrons and a large number of people filling the bar area. We found the appetizers and dinner to be good, but nothing special. Desserts were good, but at $10, a bit pricey. My prior experience here was good. Overall, it's an OK experience especially if you want to sample different bourbons. The food is adequate, but nothing special."

  • "We are from a Chicago suburb and were looking for a restaurant to go to after the Derby. We were surprised to get in anywhere, let alone a wonderful place like this. The steaks were tender and juicy with the best flavor we have ever tasted. The mushroom bread pudding was awesome, and I don't even like mushrooms! Thank you Bourbon Bistro and Open Table! "

  • "The food was excellent - I had the pork loin, mom had the filet and step-dad had a mushroom risotto dish. All 3 were superb. The waitress was friendly, attentive and helpful. The ambience was lively (we were there during the Kentucky Derby weekend) - the place was packed but we didn't feel rushed and the food and service were better than we had hoped given how crowded it was. Will definitely dine there again when back in Louisville. Don't miss this one!"

  • "3 friends and I had dinner while visiting Louisville for the Derby had a fabulous dinner! Our waitress Shannon was an absolute delight and guided us through several amazing wines, delicious appetizers like the Lobster Bruschetta and an incredible assortment of entrees like the Filet and the Duck Breast. I would absolutely eat here again and highly recommend it for a great dinner. Book it and you won't regret it! "

  • "Really can't stress how great the experience is at Bourbons Bistro, and as the name suggests, especially if you are an aficionado of Kentucky's finest export. While it's easy to get enamored with the bourbon selection, the food delivers every time. Everyone at my table of five was satisfied beyond expectation. While the regular bourbon menu is expansive, be sure to get a look at the reserve list, which has some real specialties. Also, don't hesitate to to ask for suggestions either, they will help!"

  • "Bourbon Bistro is a fine dining establishment for which Louvillians should be proud. The flights of bourbon are wonderful. I had mine with a glass of ice. In fact, I had two flights. The blackened shrimp was subzero served on pasta with asparagus and that was an appetizers. The hamburger was a hit for several. This is one of our favorite places."

  • "I have eaten at Bourbon Bistro several times for dinner. The entrees and service have always been exemplary. I decided to take my mom to brunch on Easter Sunday. We were a little disappointed in the food selection. It was breakfast food only and by 12:30, we were looking forward to having some lunch items. I would suggest including some pork or beef medallions, maybe a pasta dish and/or salad; so you have the choice of breakfast, lunch or a little of both. What was served was good, but the only meat was bacon. I think for the price, it should have some other selections. I will return for dinner and drinks (great!), but probably not for brunch. Thank you!"

  • "I was recommended to Bourbons as a better alternative to places like Ruth Chris and Stoney River. This didn't disappoint! Best dinner in awhile, great service that was extremely knowledgeable. Definitely a great spot for upscale dining."

  • "Three in our party and two of us did not like their meal. Steak Frites, the steak was very tough, could not chew some of it. The pork was not cooked long enough for my husbands taste and it was tough. Salmon was good. Goat cheese appetizer was good. missed the pork belly appetizer that used to be on the menu."

  • "Visiting from Chicago and saw Bourbons Bistro listed as a top bar in Louisville. The food, service and atmosphere did not disappoint. We'd definitely go back when we're in Louisville!"

  • "We had a groupon that was about to expire and no babysitter, so my husband and I took our 11-month old daughter with us. We didn't feel that her high chair was in the way of other customers or the wait staff. And our waitress was so friendly and laid back and took the time to play with our daughter. This is definitely a special occasion place for us due to the cost, but it was a nice date night out and "family night out.""

  • "We've been to BB several times as part of the urban Bourbon tour, and enjoyed each visit immensely. However, we'd not dined there before. Both the appetizers and the main course were delectable, and the dessert was excellent, though the bread pudding portion seemed very large ( can one really take issue with too much dessert?). The food was excellent, and everything we had imagined. This will become a routine stp for us Cincinnatians anytime we are in Louisville!"

  • "The food and service were spot on. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the chocolate lava cake with bourbon caramel glaze was amazing. And the bourbon selection is second to none. Great place for drinks or a great dinner."

  • "The food was excellent but the chairs are some of the most uncomfortable that I've ever sat in at a restaurant. I actually texted two different people who recommended this place and they acknowledged that the chairs were very uncomfortable as well. The food and service were great, and the maple old fashioned is an interesting drink to try, if you're a bourbon fan."

  • "I was only in town for one night and wanted to find a place that was unique and would give me a taste of Louisville (and bourbon). This place hit the spot. Outstanding food and flights of bourbon to educate the palate. Great, knowledgeable staff and price was right. Highly recommended."

  • "Food was great, service excellent - a little on the noisy side for a "romantic" dinner, but not overly rambunctious... Extensive Bourbon choices... Great place to experiment."

  • "We had a party of 8 and as the restaurant filled up you could hardly hear the person next to you speak. While the food was good it took to long to be served and one of the entrees was forgotten entirely. They do better with smaller crowds. Weeknights only."

  • "We've been to bourbons several times and the food is always great! It's cozy and can get pretty loud if there is a large party having dinner but the food is excellent and their bourbon list is top notch!"

  • "We had high hopes for a date night at Bourbons Bistro but were served grand dishes of disappointment. My experience began with a review or their sizable bourbon list; however, they were out of my selection. Ok, bourbon is experiencing a boom time and I can forgive being out of stock of a craft selection, so I opted for a Manhattan thinking any decent bistro named after great whisky would have a top notch bourbon-based cocktail. The Manhattan tasted like a glass of vermouth with two shots a cherry juice. I set aside and eventually ordered a replacement Michter's small batch. My main course was the Duck Burger, which was swimming in goat cheese. The burger had good flavor and I like goat cheese but it was over the top."
