We had a reservation and they put a card on the table for my friend's birthday; very nice. I did not like the table we were given, but no other was open. Took a while for our server to come over. Food was good - rib eye steak okay - not outstanding for the price. Being charged for horseradish sauce was rediculous!! They had cookies for the birthday girl - nice touch. There are a lot of better reastaurants out there for that price. ($260.00 for 2) I won't be back.

I've been to Bourbon Steak on two occasions now, and both times the food was excellent, and the service is great. I had the Lobster Pot Pie which I would say is a 'must-try' if you like Maine lobster! I had a dry-aged NY Strip steak the second time and it was cooked perfectly and delicious. The appetizers were great too - make sure to try the Ahi Tuna. Large wine list too. Service is very attentive and prompt. Expensive but worth it if you're celebrating a special occasion.

Bourbon is not marked from the street and actually inside the Westin hotel on Powell. Exeptional food and service. Definitely try their tuna tartar. However be prepered to pay. List expensive stake without sides is $50, list expensive glass of wine is $10, list expensive descent glass of wine is $16.

His food is always amazing. We had to wait a little longer than we would have liked. The server was great though! She was just busy. I informed them that it was my girlfriend's bday. They did have a card waiting for us. However, they didn't offer a dessert for her bday, like most restaurants do. Other than that, it was great!

The service was attentive and pleasant. The mixed drinks were fine. My starter - a soup - arrived with great flourish, and barely warm enough to eat. The steak - a filet - was properly cooked, but nothing special. The side dish - potato au gratin - was rich to the point of inedible, overcooked, and also arrived almost cold. It went unfinished. The dining room is lovely, but that night, uncomfortably overheated. I won't be going back. You can have a better steakhouse meal in a lovely San Francisco setting for considerably less money.

Wow -- we were seated in the table closest to the entrance to the restaurant, service was slow, a wine pour very small, the steak came without much of the promised sauce, the wait staff was defensive when we asked for remedies and the dessert we ordered was awful. A big disappointment.

Not the first time we've been to Bourbon Steak, but it might be the last for a while. They have a new chef, however most of the menu items are the same. We're certainly glad the Snake River Farms Rib Cap has stayed. However, the end-of-season heirloom tomato dish needs to get removed quickly. Desserts were fantastic & well done presentation wise. Service was terrible though. It took nearly half an hour just to have our order taken after sitting down. Our waiter would disappear for long periods of time & we had to flag down a different person on the wait staff to move things along. The pacing of the meal left a lot to be desired.

The staff was outstanding, they had an anniversary card for us on our table as we had mentioned in OpenTable reservation. Our server, Aracely, was vibrant and informative and provided outstanding recommendations and guidance. The staff bent over to make sure every need was accounted for from the hostess to management on. They kindly accomidated a gluten allergy as well. Best food I have ever had. Made our anniversary a cherished memory.

I found this place to be okay, but expensive for what you get. Its not spectacular and there was nothing out of the ordinary about the steaks. You can get similar quality for much less elsewhere at other steakhouses. I think you are paying for the Michael Mena name and the neighborhood, and I do not think either justifies the price. For the experience, we tried a small portion of the Japanese Wagyu beef to split, and that was really cool to do. I'd recommend you try it if you have never had it. The beignets for dessert were awesome, and the best part of the meal. I'd go back for the beignets if I was in the neighborhood and wanted a snack.

Reservation was handled perfectly and we had almost no wait for our late reservation. Staff was friendly but somehow bit fatigued, and that must be the reason they forgot some tiny details. We had to ask twice for the special french fries. Wine was very good. The meat , well I have had better; Wolfgang Pucks remains my steak-hero, but is not located in town, so Alexanders' remains my favorite here in town.

  • Failing for a reason
    TheCarnivore
    Dined on 10/3/2014
Failing? Well, when we dined, the restaurant never seemed to get past half capacity. On a Friday night. At 7pm. The menu is infamously overpriced, which is understandable for quality ingredients, but the joke is driven home when the table water is the same Fiji in a plastic bottle that you can get a gas station for a dollar. Only now, it's $8. The $11 sides were similarly underwhelming and skimpy. But nail was the weak service. From servers that lack knowledge of their product (which, again, is an issue when folks at the table are ordering cuts of meat that, by themselves, weigh in at hundreds of dollars) to the cliche of the rude sommelier to a weak manager unable address problems. Bourbon Steak is pure disappointment.

Our customer experience started poorly and didn't get better. Nice for her, the 20% tip was built into the bill ($2200). We had a group together sharing drinks at the bar prior to a 5:30PM reservation. At 5:30 the waitress came over, demanded we sit immediately and stopped drink orders in flight. After being seated I tried to order appetizers and was told "No, you'll order your appetizers at the same time as you place your meal order." Which i pushed back on as being a bit odd. Lastly we ordered desert and then were shut down and 8:30PM & moved to the bar to make room for the next reservation which was seated 1 hour later. Overall: The bartender was awesome and the experience went into the ditch as sooon as our waitress hit the scene.

it is a steakhouse inside a 4-star hotel, sharing an upper level store in the lobby. ambience looks romantic but it is too noisy to actually be. the menu has options than I would have expected (and compared against Morton's or Ruth's), especially regarding the meat's cuts/parts. food quality is good but outstanding service is professional but lacks of friendly approach/suggestions. price is high, just a bit less than other well-know places, also due to high recharges over wine. in a nutshell, a good place to go but without top expectations.

Excellent attention to detail, great food, perfect location. A new favorite. Celebrated our wedding anniversary, a special table was set aside, a card signed by the staff on the table. The waitress remembered to congratulate us our the actual years being married. Food was great, steaks terrific. The sommalier recommended a 2008 Neal Cabernet from Napa Valley that was excellent and under $100. I really felt spoiled at this restaurant, a little pricey but for a special occasion why not?! Look forward now to trying other Michael Mina restaurants!

I'll start off with the good... the French fries! Unfortunately it ends there. Absolutely nothing else had any type of wow factor. The 10oz sirloin was slightly overlooked, dry, and had little flavor. The ceviche was so-so. The dumpling / dim sum was edible. The mushroom side dish was not. Our server was flat, emotionless and absolutely unpleasant. I have never had such a poor server bring me a $200 bill (2 people).
