Prior to grilling, all meats at BOURBON STEAK are first poached to mouthwatering tenderness-red meats in butter, lamb in olive oil and pork in bacon fat.

Keeping with the nation’s capital’s emphasis on power daytime dining, BOURBON STEAK is one of the first Michael Mina restaurants to serve lunch. Guests can anticipate new salad entrées accompanied by homemade, fresh from the oven bread, each specifically created to complement the salad it is paired with.

Rockwell Group of New York composed a design scheme which reflects the elegant informality of Mina’s modern American cuisine, while also paying tribute to the classical stature of the hotel. Natural materials and crafted accents surround the space, from seeded and rubbed glass, to stitched leather and wood.

  • "Had a 8 oz Filet Mignon here. Ordered Medium Rare, steak came Meduim Rare+ and felt a little bit dry, but was delicious none the less. Ordered the Foie Gras as a side. Portion was reasonable but not huge as I had hoped. Had a glass of premium wine at $45, decent. Overall a nice meal although a bit on the expensive side. Place was humming and quite full. Reservations recommended. As the restaurant was busy, service was less attentive than I would have expected for a restaurant of this calibre."

  • "Enjoyed one of the best meals of my life! We arrived early and were seated right away. The birthday card from staff was a nice touch. Cocktails were amazing (The Killa B and the PC 2014) as were the trio of frites and rolls with truffle butter. The Strawberry Gazpacho was probably the most beautiful dish I have ever been served. My husband enjoyed the wedge salad, the bone-in New York Strip from VA (aged 50 days) and the salt-baked potato. I had the Lobster Pot Pie, reassembled table-side, which was phenomenal. I ended the meal with the Summer Panna Cotta and Moscato. We were checked on often by many of the staff and Colin provided excellent customer service. Can't wait for an encore meal. We'll be back!"

  • "With some of the highest prices around and being located in a city that has a vibrant restaurant scene, expectations are a little higher, and the most expensive restaurants should really wow you. We weren't wowed. I realize that restaurants with stellar reputations like Bourbon Steak don't appreciate reviews like this and some reviewers tend to wear rose-colored glasses when they're in one of the city's top restaurants, so forgive me if I've been to enough "best restaurants in the [name your] city" to be able to distinguish good from great. This was just good. The service by committee method left something to be desired, with one server strangely removing our bread plates before we'd even touched the bread. Still a hot bar scene."

  • "My husband ordered the NY Strip. To be honest, we've had better (and much cheaper) steaks at places like Outback. I ordered the stuffed pork chop, and it was extremely dry and over cooked--almost inedible. The sides and cocktails were the star of the show, and salvaged an otherwise unmemorable meal. In the end, we spent $300 on a dinner that was worth about $100. The noise level is incredibly high. We couldn't hear our server or ourselves talk. Unfortunately, I won't be going back for dinner. It might be worth a trip back for cocktails or dessert."

  • "Overall the food was great, everything from the duck fries to the steaks. The major con was the service. We let our server know that we had to leave by 6:30pm for a show at the Kennedy Center. We sat down at 5:30 and ordered our entrees immediately. However, our steaks did not come until 6:25pm! On top of that our steak sauces did not come until 10 minutes after that. It ultimately ruined our meal because we became rushed to finish our food. I actually had to leave while still chewing my last piece of steak. "

  • "We were seated with a "happy 5-year anniversary" from the hostess, then greeted with a congratulatory message from chef Michael Mina on the table and complimentary flutes of champagne. Everyone who stopped by our table (whether to clear a dish, take an order, or refill water) took the time to wish us a happy anniversary which we thoroughly appreciated. We started with the tuna tartare (delicious!), then the lobster pot pie (great presentation) and seared ahi tuna entrees with terrific wine pairings. We ended with coffee and the bourbon brownie. (To my surprise, my husband--who NEVER eats bread or sweets--scarfed down two of the delicious, buttery rolls served before the appetizer and also indulged in my brownie dessert.) "

  • "Bourbon Steak is well-known to red meat eaters, but it's also one of the best fish restaurants in DC. This time, I had a skate crudo as an appetizer and Artic char for my main. Both were beautifully finished and presented, and the tastes were complex and wonderful. Of course, the wine list is excellent, including a larger than typical list of half-bottles and one of the best single malt scotch lists in the city. Service was attentive without being cloying. An expensive meal, but worth it."

  • "While we enjoyed our meal the wagyu tenderloin at $32 per ounce just wasn't worth it. Don't get me wrong it was an excellent steak but I've had better for less than half the price at other upscale locations in other cities. The black truffle mac and cheese, the puréed potatoes, the bread and the commentary tasting of fries were excellent. The bar was very crowded and extremely loud because of the Derby and that did make the dining experience less enjoyable...we witnessed several diners request to be moved further from the bar as a result so if you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner this might not be the best location."

  • "My thirteen year old requested a steak out dinner for himself and his brothers for his birthday. I had been to Bourbon Steak for a number of great grown-up dinners but wasn't sure how this would play out. Huge success. They put us (appropriately) off to the side but far from treating us like an inconvenience they made an event of the whole meal. Not only was the food fantastic but the staff put on a real (impromptu) show explaining the different cuts and different types of steak. The boys loved it. It's a given that a meal for four at Bourbon Steak is an investment, shall we say, but this whole experience was well worth the price of admission. "

  • "This used to be one of my favorite restaurants but after my last visit I was very disappointed. I ordered my filet medium rare and it came well done. I hate sending things back but it was inedible so returned it. It came back still overcooked but I suffered through it anyways because the rest of my party was almost done with their meals. I ended up eating about half and taking the rest home for my dogs. In the past when things have happened we've been taken care of much better but this time they did nothing to make up for it. I know this restaurant researches their diners beforehand so maybe if I made the reservation under my husbands name like I used to we'd get better service..."
