A word from Bourbon Steak - Four Seasons Washington DC
Featuring contemporary American fare with a focus on seasonal ingredients, BOURBON STEAK offers all-natural, organic and hormone free cuts of beef and the freshest seafood available worldwide. Prior to grilling, all meats at BOURBON STEAK are first poached to mouthwatering tenderness-red meats in butter, lamb in olive oil and pork in bacon fat.

Keeping with the nation’s capital’s emphasis on power daytime dining, BOURBON STEAK is one of the first Michael Mina restaurants to serve lunch. Guests can anticipate new salad entrées accompanied by homemade, fresh from the oven bread, each specifically created to complement the salad it is paired with.

Rockwell Group of New York composed a design scheme which reflects the elegant informality of Mina’s modern American cuisine, while also paying tribute to the classical stature of the hotel. Natural materials and crafted accents surround the space, from seeded and rubbed glass, to stitched leather and wood.

Our booth was perfect by the window. We were celebrating our 28th anniversary. The restaurant is a bit loud, but fun. We received a Happy Anniversary card and a toast of champagne to start. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was delicious. We would definitely eat there again if we visit the Four Seasons in Georgetown.

The reviews were spot on for this restaurant! I researched in hopes of finding the premier steakhouse in DC, and boy did I ever! Bourdon was incredibly awesome in every way. Our dinner was certainly one of the best meals and experiences ever. Their steaks are delicious, however, being the bread lover that I am, their rolls were awesome! From now on, every trip to DC will include dinner here at Bourbon! Rowdy from Tulsa.

Let me start by saying I used to work for a different Four Seasons property, so I know what the standards and expectations are - and Bourbon Steak blew them out of the water - incredible food, wine, service (!!!) They really made us feel special and the food, oh man the food, was incredible. Of everything we got and shared, my favorite was the beef tartare and the truffle mac n cheese. Just an overall amazing experience and can't wait to come back to DC again. Definitely a Wow me!

We had a great meal, beef and sides were cooked to temperature, and the sides were excellent. The wine list was marked up quite a bit but some good wines to be found. Overall it's a great meal, be ready to drop some coin as it's a touch more pricey than the others in town.

Overcooked bread, under seasoned mushrooms, barely cooked spinach. Bourbon steak missed the mark on everything food. Drinks and service terrific but at more than $60 for a piece of meat that retails for around $20/lb and with so many other options around DC, we will either go elsewhere or just stay home the next time we want a good steak.

Went here for my girlfriend's 30th birthday, and couldn't be happier with the selection! The service was excellent and the local steaks were delicious. Definitely recommend the beef tartare for an appetizer. At one point, the sommelier came over to the table to discuss different wine options, which was an added bonus for a great meal. Will come back.

Food was excellent. Service started great then waitress got a table of 8. We waited over 20 minutes after putting forks down from main course for plates to be cleared. Had to get sommelier to help. Then had to get up and tell someone our dessert order as it was another 15 minutes of waiting after all in our party had reviewed the dessert menu. While the rest of the staff stepped in to help with the dessert service, they should have continued the support as evern trying to pay the bill took forever.

The dishes had a nice presentation but were below expectations. The ceviche was missing the tanginess, steak tartare was not as finally chopped and lacking kick (mustard), and lastly the fillet was not buttery; it required a lot of chewing, more like eyeround. The only item that was good was the swordfish.

We had a reservation and were a bit early. We were left in the bar for 45 minutes waiting for an outdoor table, most of which were empty. When I asked about a table we were taken to a low outside "bar" table and handed bar menus. Once seated at an appropriate table the appetizers were good. Despite the restaurant name and prices, the filet that appeared after a considerable delay was tough and over cooked. The replacement was good - not great - but by that time my wife had finished her "ok" halibut. Would not go back as I expect great food and service at that price point.

I brought my wife here for her 29th Birthday and we had an amazing time. We each ordered the 18oz New York Strip which turned out amazing. They also served French Fries with various dipping sauces and buns that were fried in truffle oil which were to die for. I couldn't believe that these items weren't at an additional charge. We also ordered a side of the truffle oil mac & cheese and that was also very good. I did have one small thing I didn't like. They charge $5 dollars for diet coke and don't offer free refills. I didn't know this until my check came out. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but I at least want to know about it before the check comes out. The server did comp the extra amount too which was nice.

We went especially to have a great steak experience, but slightly disappointed. The steak was nice, but way over priced. We had 2 steaks, couple of drinks and dessert and came to around $200. I would have spent this at a Michelin star restaurant and got more. It's called Bourbon Steak, but my husband wasn't impressed as there was no Bourbon sauce to go with the steak, which you would think they would specialise in. Service was very good.

Bourbon was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in DC. I recently dined there during a vacation. I was slightly disappointed with this visit. My primary complaint was the steak seemed to have more fat and less flavor than usual. The service, ambience and trademark complimentary appetizers (biscuits in truffle oil and duck fat fries) were all great.

Our dinner table for three on Friday was very underwhelmed by the food. Drinks, service, and ambience was fine. So it was disappointing that our three steaks were tasteless (50 day aged local ny strip) or too salty (flat-iron wag you) only decent steak was the ribeye wagyu from tx. And more disappointment from the side orders Mac n cheese, the Yukon gold potato purée and the mushrooms maitake were bland also. You can't win them all but I had a terrific time with my wife and sister at the Bourbon Steak.

Great design, energy in the bar, rich and glamorous of Georgetown, some famous rock star was sitting in the lounge next to the bar, and the food is very, very good. But it is also very pricey, even for a lace like this, and my pricey flatiron steak was buried in salt.

I love steak houses. Been to dozens of different ones, all around the country. So, my review may be colored by my by my memories of truly great meals I've had in the past. But, since Bourbon Steak styles itself as world class (it certainly charges world class prices), I don't think unfair to compare. In short, this emperor has no clothes. The food is decidedly average. The service is okay, but nothing of special note for a place of this supposed quality. And the ambiance is wholly underwhelming. The entire experience was three stars, but I docked a star for so badly meeting advertised expectations. Save your money and go somewhere else.

My wife and I had a great anniversary dinner on Saturday. We were greeted with well wishes from the hostess and again at the table. Then we were welcomed with champagne, a great way to start the evening. The food and service was excellent, wish we could have tried dessert but we were running late for a show. The one comment, and maybe this is a new trend (stupid one), but if you are coming over to pour champagne the second I sit down and wishing us a happy anniversary, I feel the restaurant should also pick up the tab on that champagne. We were surprised to see it in the bill and paid it because we were running late. I feel this is a really under-minded attempt to just boost the bill and I will be much more cognizant next time.

An overall excellent experience. Although the drink list was a bit unclear, the cocktail I randomly chose was outstanding. Instead of bread for starters, they serve three types of French fries and three dipping sauces. The curry dipping sauce was not great nor was the cheese flavored sauce, but the honey mustard sauce was tasty. As for dinner, the waiter warned us about ordering too many sides, but we insisted on getting 5 different sides for three people. Needless to say it was way to much. Sides were all excellent, but take the waiters recommendation as the portions are big. The steaks were outstanding. I ordered mine medium and it definitely came out med. rare. Still, it was a delicious steak. Service was outstanding and fast.

  • Too Much Butter
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 8/9/2014
I understand that butter is decadent and is used liberally in most expensive dishes, but this restaurant goes a little too far. They poach all the steaks in it, they drench the rolls that come to the table, every side dish is overwhlemed with it. It just seems a little too much. At this level, it would make more sense to have more sophisticated light (EVOO) dishes. Everything is so heavy, seems a little glutenous which makes it feel cheap or unsophisticated. Just something to think about...

So a Four Seasons hotel. This implies diners leaving when they see high prices (but they should have checked the menu on line). The food here is incredible. I recommend the tuna tartare and the steaks. I tried the lobster pot pie. It was good (a tiny bit over cooked). The downsides are service and atmosphere. Out waitress said all/every one of the right things involved in being gracious. But it didn't seem to wash. It wasn't about being gracious and giving the gift of a spectacular experience. The design of the restaurant is antiquated (the least of my concerns). So, some very big pluses, and some things that are not bad, but that gratuitously could could be better--there does not seem to be an adult in the room overseeing everything.

Almost everything about our meal was lovely especially the birthday greeting & dessert bites, exceptional service & divine food. We had 2 young vegetarians along who were resigned to dining on salad & sides but thrilled to be served a quinoa burger & delicious gnocchi--"special creations" from the chef. The ONLY downside to our experience was no fault of the restaurant or its staff but rather the behavior of some impolite fellow diners (see below). There were many journalists/business types seated nearby and the Africa Summit was in town. Many diners were toting photography equipment & working on laptops & cell phones which definitely detracted from the ambiance of our intimate family celebration. Maybe this is always the vibe?

Three of the four of us were not huge red meat eaters, but we wanted to give it a try. And man, we weren't disappointed. At all. Not only were each of our steaks (2 of us had the Wagyu New York Strip, 2 had the Waygu Flatiron) the best steaks we have ever had, but the sides (whipped potatoes with gravy, truffle mac and cheese, sautéed spinach, asparagus, and crab hushpuppies), the truffle dinner rolls, the drinks (Crystal Clear Mojito, The Potomac Martini, and the Jefferson), and the service were impeccable and made for the perfect meal. We all agreed we'd come back the next time we were craving steak or just a lovely night out. It's not the cheapest meal in town, but for the quality and service you get, it's worth every penny.

I'm not normally a fan of steak places. I normally see them as too expensive and too much food. Bourbon Steak however has ruined me for all future steaks. It is easy to drop some cash here and as long as you are denting your wallet, choose the Waygu. We got the hanger steak and the best thing I can say is that it melts in your mouth. Prepared medium rare it is almost creamy in its texture. The butter, scallion emulsion, and bourbon sauce is perfect on the beef. The trio of fries with the trio of sauces while were were waiting was an over the top treat.
