Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I tried the tasting menu and it was an amazing experience. We also opted for the wine pairing. We enjoyed around 10 inspired courses and tasted 8 worldly wines. Often a variation or completely different course was arranged for each my wife and I. Next time we will bring friends to see even more of the chef's wide ranging creations. Knowledgable, friendly staff created a memorable dining experience. "

  • "They really made our anniversary special. There was an anniversary card waiting at the table for us."

  • "Tiny portions, spotty service, average food at an exorbitant price."

  • "Out of three steaks only 1 was cooked correctly . Order medium which is pink throughout and was medium well. Didn't have time to send back as we had an appointment however I saw another table send their steak back twice. Sides were ok ...Mac and cheese was good. horseradish mash, creamed spinach and mushrooms were ok Probably not go back for price versus quality. Would rather go to Dominicks steak house or Mastro's"

  • "Verty noisy inside, had to sit outside so you could hear yourself speak. The food was excellent."

  • "Great food quality! We live in the area and would frequent more often but just too noisy. Could not have a conversation without yelling. Maybe try again when the snow birds leave AZ."

  • "Very poor experience focused on lack of hospitality for a fine dinning restaurant. Restaurant not even close to full. Group in attendance from conference of restaurant professionals. This was a very poor example of our industry. 3 bottles of wine consumed prior to getting our salads, group of 5."

  • "We love to go to Bourbon Steak. The food is always excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for excellent steak and lobster."

  • "If you prefer a quiet setting, ask to eat outside. The three flavored french fries with three sauces which started our meal were delicious. We had the small filets done just as we asked. The meat just melted in your mouth, it was so tender and flavorful. We were going to skip dessert, but the beignets with the McCallum's sauce captured our fancy, and it was fantastic. The sauce was so good, we ate it with a spoon when we had finished the beignets. We will definitely return to the Bourbon Steak House."

  • "Bottom line - I do not think the price matched the experience. I was hosting a group of ten and felt that the waiter was pushing me the whole time to make quick decisions on everything from appetizers to desserts. If I hesitated, he immediately offered to bring out a "selection of specilaties". He wanted to show himself as the expert when all I wanted from him was to provide guidance and let us make our own decisions. I don't know what the hurry was because the restaurant was not full by any means. I had to direct him to let us choose our own desserts. Very annoying especially when you are with customers. The wine was great and we had a good time but I did not like being rushed."

  • "This restaurant has a fabulous physical presence and outstanding food. We loved all of it. My only complaint was the inordinate expense of the wine list. We had 8 people there, three of whom were experienced wine drinkers (80 years collectively). We spent nearly 30 minutes reading and discussing the wine list in order to find offerings that were good and reasonably priced for our group. We were successful and enjoyed some great wines, but our search would have been easier if there were more wines under $200."

  • "The staff was wonderful. The complimentary fries were flavorful and appreciatedl. The appetizers and drinks arrived promptly and then it was over 40 minutes before our entrees arrived. We spoke not only to our server, but the manager. For the prices paid I would have expected better service or some accomodation. Also for the expense the room had little to no ambience and was so noisy I could barely hear my dinner companion. It was also extremely warm in the restaurant. All in all I was hoping for a much better experience because the hotel itself was fabulous."

  • "We have a wonderful meal at this Restaurent. We sat outside which was very comfortable. The lobster pot pie was excellent and is an item that should be shared as a side. It was rich and yummy. Other sides Brussels sprouts, Mac and cheese, salads were all wonderful also. We all had steaks which were cooked to our order and even though they were excellent something was missing - maybe needed to be served warmer, a bit more seasoning, ?? Service was a bit odd it took over 20 minutes to get the drinks we ordered. I would definitely return to this Restaurent and highly recommend it."

  • "I took our team to dinner for a celebratory dinner and chose Bourbon Steak. The service was impeccable - some of the best I have experience anywhere. From the hostess staff to the servers, truly impressive. The food was terrific, and the decor and ambiance made everything really special.."

  • "My wife and I went to Bourbon Steak for dinner on our anniversary. Based on the prior reviews we were expecting something much more romantic and enjoyable. The food was just ok and the service was not that great. We stayed at the Fairmont Princess for 4 nights and waited to go to Bourbon Steak on the last night feeling that is was the finest of the restaurants there. In all honesty, the dinner we had at the Hacienda was much better and more enjoyable."

  • "Beautiful setting. Interesting and excellent tasting side dishes and 3 of 4 main dishes...one entree had to be sent back for being overdone initially, and a new one was provided, though it was underdone. A long wait for the entrees to arrive, and although outdoor patio setting was lovely, the heaters did not provide much heat...one became empty and it took the waiters some time to replace the propane canister. We had an enjoyable meal , but the service was not quite on par with the price."

  • "The food was great but the server was absolutely fake - not a genuine person at all. It is this reason I will not return and will definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If the staff were to try and be more real instead of putting on a saccharine filled sales pitch, the restaurant could be a fine dining establishment."

  • "comfortable setting for two. Light crowd i thought for a Saturday night. We ordered the ribeye with horseradish whipped potatoes and the Maine lobster pie. Steak was excellent, well seasoned and soft to the bite. Potatoes were nothing special. I could have done just as well at home. Lobster pie consisted of a huge pie crust served as the base with lobster in shells and vegetables in the middle.. The dish was tasty and satisfying although for $75 I would have prefered a more generous portion of lobster meat. The overall service was very good. Servers were attentive and pleasant."

  • "After sitting down for 10 minutes we had to wave down or server to order. We did not see him again for 1 1/2 hours until we had wave him down for our bill. Only had one glass of wine during our meal and my $58.00 dollar steak was well done not medium as ordered."

  • "Great food, and the service was excellent; however it was a little loud and table location made us feel like we were in the middle of the resturant."

  • "Overall the night was great. Food was delicious, wine list was thorough, great service. It was a bit on the pricey side. Dinner for 2 and drinks was about $250. The dinner lasted about 2 1/2 hours. No complaints here. Great job Bourbon Steak."

  • "Horrible, horrible experience. We spent $500 dinner for three for a below average bland food. Even the Caesar salad was disappointing. All it had was leaves and old croutons. Not even dressing on them. Hubby and son had steak and said it was just ok. I had grilled tuna and hated it. Didn't even want to finish after few bites. Desert was good and the ambience was good . The service was bad. It took 3 hours for the whole dinner. We went there to celebrate my son's birthday. Very disappointed with the whole experience. We felt we wasted our $500 that evening which was supposed to be a special one."

  • "Had to get up to find someone to give us water and menus. Very young staff, many With little experience. A cold, noisey atmosphere. Food was of good quality but very overpriced, as we're the Wines. Typical resort patrons on expense accounts."

  • "Bourbon Steak was a delightful experience from start to finish. After being seated, my date and I were immediately met by our server, who was the right level of attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. After the complimentary fries cooked in duck fat--which were amazing--we had the cauliflower soup and the tuna tartare, both of which were very tasty. For dinner, my date had the pork chop with the pork belly, while I had the Snake River Farms NY Strip, and each entree was cooked exactly as we requested, and unbelievably delicious. (We also shared a wonderful side of bone marrow.) We talked later about how delightful the meal was, and how we felt as though we were the only ones in the restaurant that night. We would definitely return."

  • "My husband and I really enjoyed the steak but that was it.. there wasn't much choice on apps... and the side portions for share were small and bland.. We even ordered a dessert and it was small and pitiful for the price we paid.. The small fries was a bit tacky... The steak was the best part of the meal... but overall would not go back if I am going to spend that much I would rather do Mastros's"

  • "We have been coming to this restaurant for years... it just seems to get louder and louder. They usually do a great job during the Phoenix Open Event (their property sits right up against TPC which makes this a very desirable location for dinner). The noise level inside was almost unbearable, we could barefly hear anyone in our group (outside is lovely and quiet). We were a party of 4 and it took us over 2 hours and 15 mins to get our food - they were having some kind of issue on this evening with their staff. Our waitress did the best she could (she was lovely and cheeful). If we go back again, we willd definitely sit outside..."

  • "We ate outside and enjoyed a wonderful experience. We had friends come outside to sit with us for a few minutes just to get a break from the noise inside. When it's busy, it can be overly loud in there. Overall, we love this restaurant and will return."

  • "Didn't recognize any of the wine. The one Chardonnay I liked they ran out of after 1 glass. It was so loud from all the diners we couldn't hear each other talk. I couldn't even hear the waitress. The lobster pot pie was awesome however."

  • "A great dining experience with good ambience and an interesting approach to reinventing the steakhouse. Drinks and wine menu were good. Only let down was that the service, whilst very good, was a little unresponsive to one of our diners dislike of butter on plates etc. Highly recommended."

  • "The wines cost a fortune and were not great. My steak had to be sent back TWICE!! The lobster and sides were mediocre!! ASTRONOMICAL PRICES!!"
    Dined on 1/18/2014
  • "Nice restaurant. Was expecting it to be outstanding and sadly was not. Food was very good but not quite up to the standard of a steakhouse by Michael Mina. The Scallops were delicious but the Lobster was overcooked. Over very good experience but expected more! With all the fantastic restaurants in Scottsdale, don't know if we would go back."
