A word from Bourbon House
“Arguably the best oyster bar of any white tablecloth restaurant in New Orleans” per the Times Picayune, Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House is all about local seafood. If it’s not in season, you won’t find it on the menu. Enjoy authentic New Orleans dishes and oysters on the halfshell in a lively atmosphere overlooking Bourbon Street.
Dickie Brennan and his culinary team have created an incredible menu of classic New Orleans dishes complemented by new favorites. Signature favorites include Gulf fish on the Halfshell and New Orleans style Barbeque Shrimp.
Bourbon is a central focus at the bar with more than 100 American Whiskeys on the list. Bourbon House is the perfect place for a mint julep or a straight up shot of that hard to find small batch whiskey.

When we arrived we were lucky to be seated at a table by the window. We were able to watch the tourists, conventioneers, locals, and a few crazies roam up and down Bourbon Street. There was a musician playing the saxophone across the street, which caused some people to dance down the sidewalk. The interior is beautifully decorated with wood floors, mirrors, and pretty lighting. My husband had oysters on the half-shell and I had a salad; both good. For our main course my husband had the redfish and I had the duck. Both were perfectly prepared and excellent. Our dessert was chocolate pecan pie with a Tabasco praline, and my, oh my, they were de-lish! The contrast of the sweetness and the little bit of kick from the Tabasco was amazing. Service was prompt and attentive. On our next trip to New Orleans, we will most definitely return to the Bourbon House!

The best thing about the restaurant is the location and ambiance. Although the food had very good flavors, the servings were on the small size and we were left unsatisfied. So we decide to ordered a dessert to share, bread pudding, which was disappointing; the bourbon sauce was eehh! now, this is the Bourbon House, right!?

Bourbon House is truly excellent. This is my second time dining here and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. The food is some of the best in New Orleans and the bourbon list is one of the best I've ever seen. The atmosphere is great and the service is wonderful. Everyone should eat here at least once and I intend to eat here every time I visit the Big Easy from now on.

After eating at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse the night prior I expected much more from this Brennan's restaurant. The service was poor-food had to be ordered from one person while drinks from another. We waited 20 minutes for a bottle of wine. Food was good, but not great. The reputation of this restaurant is much better than the reality.

Drinks were delicious, crab fingers were divine, entrees were so yummy, waiter was very friendly and professional, and they got us in and out in under an hour as we were going to the Saenger for a show afterwards. Leaving 4 out of 5 stars due to not getting water or drink orders taken until at least ten minutes after being seated, drinks arriving after appetizers were delivered to table, frozen drinks arriving very much in a liquid state, no knives with which to eat our food, no servers available or stopping at table so we could ask for knives, and steaks being slightly overcooked. They were very very busy with it being a Saints home game weekend, and we really enjoyed our meal.

My wife and I had a reservation for 3 weeks and were looking forward to dinner at the Bourbon House. We arrived early, before 6, and although several other tables were vacant, we were seated at the worst table in the restaurant, right outside the kitchen. The noise level was already high, and with all the traffic passing our table, it was nearly impossible to enjoy dinner. The food was very good, but the atmosphere pretty much spoiled it.

The ambiance is okay but a little rundown looking. More of a tourist trap on Bourbon. My server was very inattentive, and it took an hour for my seared tuna (read: raw) to come out. How does it take an hour to not even cook the fish? The restaurant was not even full. I will not be coming here again, and I would recommend going to another restaurant. New Orleans has a wonderful food scene.

We arrived early on a weekday evening and had the fish special of the evening. The entree was very good with generous proportions. The wine selection was just OK, with no outstanding selections. The dessert select was good but should be "outstanding" for a NO restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend.

This was a very interesting, but at the same time- frustrating and confusing service style. We had 1 server for only drinks and dessert, and 1 server for only dinner, then we had a busser show up and introduce himself as well. We didn't know who to ask for anything, and it seemed they didn't talk to each other either. We asked for a minute to decide on drinks, then the dinner server came up wanting our entree order, before we had even decided on drinks, let alone order them. The busser came by later and plopped a bag of bread down right in front of me- startling me, because he basically threw it on the table. We had a problem with drinks, charged for a replacement, and just asked for the bill to leave.

Open Table reservations always result in a great seat location. Wait staff is broken into drink servers and food waiters. The drink staff was terrible. Friendly but needs training on how to deliver. Late to take orders, slow to actually bring the drink, incomplete orders and then another 10 minutes without an apology. The food waiter was busy but also friendly. We liked him. Food was quite good.

The location and view is unmatched for dining in the French Quarter. The team approach to serving seemed to lend itself to some service missteps. But personalities more than made up for this The redfish on the half shell was very good- the accompaniment was lacking creativity. The BLT wedge excellent as was the pumpkin cheesecake.

We sought a reservation because I am a whisky lover. The menu caught my wife's interest as she is an avid foodie, and the selection of whiskies is mine; such an extensive selection is uncommon! The server's knowledge of the libations was impressive, even hometown jargon from my tastings were understood quickly! Great service! The only hiccup was her redfish. It was dried-out too much and a lack of sauce exacerbated this fact.

We ordered an Old Fashion bourbon drink that barely included a hint of bourbon and tasted like fruit juice. We ordered an edible roasted chicken which included a very good jambalaya risotto. We also ordered an lousy spinach shrimp salad at an overpriced cost of $16.00. The spinach salad included about eight boiled shrimp that were tiny and appeared to come from a frozen bag. Jumbo size the shrimp are not! Neither was the size of the salad portion, which was more of a side salad. The ambience was good and the location is fantastic on Bourbon Street within walking distance of the New Orleans Central Business District. The waitresses are college age, not professionals. There are better options elsewhere in New Orleans.

The location of Bourbon House is very convenient in the French Quarter. However, as soon as you enter, the noise level is quite high, and we found ourselves screaming across the table. It was even difficult to hear the waitress (who was very good) tell us about the specials. The food was tasty but the quantity of food in all of our entrees (4) was small. When I ordered the barbecued shrimp entree, the waitress was kind enough to let me know that the shrimp still had its' heads, so she recommended a double portion of the appetizer shrimp. That would have been fine, except she should have also recommended some sides to go with it. I was not really full at the end of my meal. The fresh baguettes were very good and we were brought extra.

Had a very nice dining experience. Had made reservations so our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The wait staff was quick to greet us and take our drink orders. Or dishes were brought out in a timely manner and at the appropriate time intervals. Our drinks were well maintained without having a waiter hanging over us. It was like the were watching us from afar and showed up at just the right time. I would highly recommend Bourbon House to anyone seeking a fine dining experience in such a chaotic neighborhood! We were graciously ushered to a great table in a window overlooking Bourbon. Incredible people watching. The chargrilled oysters were among the best I've had in NOLA. The other dishes were good though one steak, ordered medium rare, was delivered way over cooked. It was promptly replaced when we brought it to the attention of a passing server. Our waiters (one for drinks and one for food) pretty much ignored us the entire 2 hours we were there. I even had to ask another server to get us our check. Most service in New Orleans has been attentive- not here. So disappointed.

This restaurant is pleasant enough and the service is decent. The food, however, is not on par with its looks. Neither one of us particularly appreciated neither the appetizers nor the main courses we ordered. The main issue seemed to be an excessive amount of fat in the dishes. This statement is made with full awareness of how fatty the New Orleans food is in general. Our consensus was that we could have skipped it and gone some place else.
