A word from Bourbon House
“Arguably the best oyster bar of any white tablecloth restaurant in New Orleans” per the Times Picayune, Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House is all about local seafood. If it’s not in season, you won’t find it on the menu. Enjoy authentic New Orleans dishes and oysters on the halfshell in a lively atmosphere overlooking Bourbon Street.
Dickie Brennan and his culinary team have created an incredible menu of classic New Orleans dishes complemented by new favorites. Signature favorites include Gulf fish on the Halfshell and New Orleans style Barbeque Shrimp.
Bourbon is a central focus at the bar with more than 100 American Whiskeys on the list. Bourbon House is the perfect place for a mint julep or a straight up shot of that hard to find small batch whiskey.

Compliments to the chef for one of the best meals my man and I have her had, hands down. You have to have the Seafood Gratin, to die for! Our waiter and cocktail waitress were fantastic and each received a fine tip! Very good start to a fun night on Bourbon Street. If you're looking to add some class and absolutely delicious food to your stay in NOLA, Bourbon House is your place! Be sure to make a reservation because its divinity is no secret!

Had a very nice dining experience. Had made reservations so our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The wait staff was quick to greet us and take our drink orders. Or dishes were brought out in a timely manner and at the appropriate time intervals. Our drinks were well maintained without having a waiter hanging over us. It was like the were watching us from afar and showed up at just the right time. I would highly recommend Bourbon House to anyone seeking a fine dining experience in such a chaotic neighborhood! Would definitely visit again!

We were graciously ushered to a great table in a window overlooking Bourbon. Incredible people watching. The chargrilled oysters were among the best I've had in NOLA. The other dishes were good though one steak, ordered medium rare, was delivered way over cooked. It was promptly replaced when we brought it to the attention of a passing server. Our waiters (one for drinks and one for food) pretty much ignored us the entire 2 hours we were there. I even had to ask another server to get us our check. Most service in New Orleans has been attentive- not here. So disappointed.

This restaurant is pleasant enough and the service is decent. The food, however, is not on par with its looks. Neither one of us particularly appreciated neither the appetizers nor the main courses we ordered. The main issue seemed to be an excessive amount of fat in the dishes. This statement is made with full awareness of how fatty the New Orleans food is in general. Our consensus was that we could have skipped it and gone some place else.

Came here for a work dinner with 2 guys from Houston. Started with appetizers; calamari, bbq shrimp, and alligator boudin. The calamari had a little too much breading. I love boudin and this alligator boudin did not disappoint. We each then had a soup. I had the soup du jour-truffle and white bean. Very rich and filling. I didn't finish the soup because I wanted to make sure I had some room for dinner. For my main dish-redfish on the half shell. Stick a fork in and pull the delicious melt in your mouth fish. I didn't make it very far into the fish before I was full. The wait staff boxed it nicely for me. 3 of us split the white chocolate bread pudding and it was awesome. Wish I had enough space to eat more than 2 bites!

My husband and I were not impressed with this restaurant. The atmosphere and service were good but the food was just ok and overpriced. I ordered the signature dish BBQ shrimp Po Boy and homemade chips. The sandwich was mildly seasoned and the chips burnt. My husband ordered the fish tacos which were better but expensive for what they were. All in all we would not return.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary here on a Sunday evening. The staff was not unfriendly but certainly aloof. We had to flag them down several times even though we were one of two tables for two of them. I had questions about the wine list and the server behaved as though she was very knowledgeable about wine even telling an elaborate story about the origin of one. Unfortunately for her, we had actually visited that particular winery and knew the story was, well, wrong. We chose to find that amusing though and moved on. The crab finger appetizer was delicious. I ordered petite filets medium rare and they were nearly well done. My husband ordered fried shrimp and felt it was just okay. Too many restaurants here to go back.

While the bourbon list was vast and the restaurant was recommended it was so sad to see them fail at doing the simple things. I'm fairly certain the waiter forgot to but in our order (multiple times), we were without bread for a long time and even requested it, our appetizer was cold (it should have been the hot BBQ shrimp). In any event, I think you can find much more for your money elsewhere!

The atmosphere is very romantic, however, the formal dining area has two attached "sports bar" type areas... Which would be fine except its football season. So our romantic dinner was interrupted by shouting and whooping. The staff is great. Gumbo was good (B+) and the shrimp creole was very flavorful. Hubby got the fried seafood platter, he enjoyed it. Portion sizes were good, but like many other places the prices are a little over the top. Would still recommend it though!

We are locals and eat raw oysters very frequently, but have never been served anything like this. Half were nice size and a reasonably good flavor, the other half were as best I could describe as awful. They were tiny, had a bad after taste, and I would not believe they were actually served. We ered 2 doz. Our server was much more concerned with the large table next to us, as we had to ask him to take our order. When another table next to us received bread and butter after just being seated, we asked for bread, and yes it did arrive about 10 minutes after our main dish arrived. We eat out frequently and have had mixed results in prior visits. We will not be back.

My husband and I lunched at Bourbon House on a recent New Orleans anniversary trip. The service was slow initially, though the restaurant was not crowded. Once the service started, it was friendly and competent. My husband enjoyed the barbecued shrimp po-boy, proclaimed "outstanding." I had fish tacos, a very generous serving with three tacos. The fish was blackened, and slightly dry, but it was accompanied with fresh corn, black beans, onion, cole slaw and sour cream. Overall, a tasty dish, but it would have been even better with guacamole. I was only able to eat the tortilla for one taco, and ate the other two without tortilla. It was a satisfying meal.

I was traveling alone and booked a reservation last minute. Unfortunately, it was for much later than I wanted, so I decided to walk to the restaurant and see if I could snag an earlier table. It turns out that the front section of the restaurant along with the oyster bar are first come, first served so I was able to grab a seat at the bar immediately. All in all a good experience. My only disappointment is while their on-line menu said they had hushpuppies, they do not. That's blasphemy in my book -- who serves fried seafood without hushpuppies??

The restaurant is in a great location but that's about the only positive from our experience. We are long-time New Orleans visitors and this was by far our worst food experience in over 20 years. The corn and crab soup smelled slightly spoiled and two of our three entrees were inedible, the gulf fish with artichokes and the shrimp creole. We actually complained about the soup and the shrimp creole and our server said, "Yes, most people don't like the shrimp creole here." The wait staff were almost zombie-like, bordering on hostile. We tried to be as friendly as possible and insisted on paying for the meal and tipping appropriately despite the horrible food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Been coming to NOLA for past couple years but hadn't ate here yet. Finally did this trip and wasn't impressed. Food was ok, had much better charbroiled Oysters elsewhere, and entree was just middle of the road. Wait staff was not very friendly either compared to other places nearby. Also, wine selection by the glass was limited. Did like the Bourbon glass being included in the bill, especially after specifically asking them not to because it was a corporate dinner. Had to have them remove it. So, ok but not great.

This place is right in the center of it all. The atmosphere seemed some what casual. There were couples, families and even a few bachelor/ette parties when we went. Most of the food was very good. Alligator boudin balls were excellent!!! My fish was very overcooked but the rest of the meal was delicious! I would recommend trying out the bourbon house and even selecting a bourbon or two to drink off their extensive bourbon menu. Although right outside was crazy, this place is much tamer and shines when it comes to flavor and service.

This is a hard critique to write because my husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal and mine was awful. He ordered Oysters Bordelaise as an appetizer and Fried Oysters for an entree. We split the spinach salad which was yummy. The bordelaise oysters were awesome and ended up my replacement meal for the terrible Fish Iberville dish. The dish smelled horrible when they put it in front of me, and I could not choke it down because of that. I had to flag down the waiter to have him replace my meal. NO manager ever came to check on us after that or at any time during the meal, which surprised me. Customer service is not their strong point obviously. We will never go back.

We had heard good reviews of Bourbon House and decided to make reservations for a romantic dinner. The food and service were outstanding but ourselves and two other parties of two were seated in close proximity to each other in a half booth, half table setup. It was very loud in the restaurant and impossible to have a private conversation with the two other couples sitting within arms reach of us. One couple next to us actually left before ordering because they couldn't hear each other. Besides the seating and noise level we had a wonderful meal and plan on going back again soon!
