Tucked away jut off Main Street in Manayunk, this place is a real gem. Great ambiance, delicious food and live music. I highly recommend especially for a date night."

  • "Had not been to Manayunk for a while and did not want to head into town so found this restaurant on opentable. Was a great find; the 4 of us had a nice table, far enough from others, and the right size to be able to have a good conversation. Only wish it had had a white table cloth... Cocktails were large and very tasty. Some of us ordered from the bar menu, some ordered from the main, and one of us got a Special. Was all very good, and we all decided it was worth coming back for. At 10pm (on a Friday night) a DJ started playing music at the bar and the bar got lively, but it did not bother us. Was nice of the manager to swing by at some point and ask whether all was OK."

  • "Service was what it is supposed to be, they have a decent bar, the food was miserable. The crab cake entree was a lump of mashed potatoes overcooked in salt. The fried chicken was so salty it wasn't edible. I go out to dinner atleast twice a week for the last several years and I can honestly say this was the worst meal for what they charge that I've ever been to. Why pay 20 bucks for fried chicken that tastes like something I could get in a drive thru. Go somewhere else for food unless you don't mind quality."

We both loved the food (I almost always order the Jambalaya), but equally impressive is the dedication of the staff, from top to bottom, to please their customers. The only downside to the restaurant is the occasionally overpowering noise from the entertainment that sometimes made conversation difficult. Still, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food and a pleasant staff."

The manager stopped by our table twice to ask how our food was and if there was anything he could get us. The food was timed perfectly and delicious. A band started to play later (after 10) and the bar scene was the best in Manayunk."

  • "First time at Bourbon Blue on a cold night in January. We loved the decor in this old stone building on the canal. Liked the idea of a New Orleans themed menu, which is unusual around here, and the food was pretty good. When we arrived at 7 on a Saturday, the place wasn't even half full, which was great for us because we wanted to talk. As it filled up completely over the next hour, including three birthday party groups, it got very loud and difficult for conversation. Probably better in warm weather when you can sit outside."

  • "If your looking for Gumbo and Jambalya with all the trimming that come with the Cajun feel... this is the best find by far in the Philadelphia region. Never a disappointment, and priced reasonably for what you get. Great view on a warm early dinner off the balcony overlooking the canals. It attracts a friendly crowd, and dont be shocked if you are pulling your chair up to the table next to you to discuss movies or politics by the 4th drink. We ahve been here many times, and will continue to make it our #1 stop when cajun / creole is on the taste buds."

The jumbalaya on the menu was delicious, even had a nice kick to it. The atmosphere was very nice; wide dining room, but still felt intimate at your table. Service was good and I would recommend this place to others."

  • "I went there on a whim; i had passed by the week before while Xmas shopping and thought it looks inviting. So I made reservations for Sunday, December 29th with a date who's an apex carnivore AND a foodie. (I'm a single vegetarian who eats over the sink.) The brunch couldn't have been better; first, the breakfast options were considerable and AMAZING. It took a while to narrow down the choices to eggs Benedict with lump crabmeat (me) and the meatloaf sandwich (her). How was the food? Simply outstanding. Cajun / creole anything is always tops in my book, but this was simply off the charts. You really have to go there and experience it yourself; you'll leave full, happy and determined to go back ASAP."

  • "For a restaurant that wants to pride itself on it's cajun cuisine - it better well be able to make a good fried catfish dish - or leave it off the menu. The catfish was actually soggy, the corn machoux just tasted like a canned corn and black bean relish. Most of the dishes hardly had any flavor. The fried pickles needed to be sliced thicker as you mostly just tasted the breading"

Only one gripe: the draft beer list was a big disappointment - they only have 6-7 on tap and two were "fruity" choices which are not my favorite."

  • "Bourbon Blue has much potential but it misses the mark. The menu is interesting but the dishes are lacking in preparation. An example was my wife's tilapia which was somewhat dried out. The jambalaya I had was better but not spectacular. If you want unusual food in Manayunk this is not a bad place, but there are better dining experiences. If you drive to center city you can easily find both."

  • "Went during restaraunt week when they offered a $10, $20, and $30 selection. I'm a big eater, but after reading reviews I went with the $20 option.I had the calamari that lacked flavoring compared to Manyunk Brewery that I had during happy hour.I had the jumbalaya for my main course. This was spot on to down south that I've had in the past and was very flavorful. The portion of jumbalaya was vast and I surprisingly couldn't finish it. We arrived about 45 minutes early and did not have to wait. My GFand I were willing to sit at the bar until our table was ready, but they were ab;e tp seat us at our requested outdoor table that had a nice view. My GFhad the tilapia, which had a good spice and the sweet potato succatash was great as well."

  • "This is a go to Sunday brunch spot when we're in Philly, especially in the nice weather, when you can dine outside on the deck overlooking the Manayunk Canal. 1/2 price bottles of wine all day Sunday, with a $3 draft beer special, and a make your own Bloody Mary bar. The Blueberry Lemonade hit the spot. French Toast is always very good, with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Good options to craft your own omelet. Lunch menu also available, which includes a really good grilled shrimp and Bibb salad."
