A word from Boundary Road
Boundary Road is a stylish little bistro located at the west end of H St. NE. Our mission is to provide simple, carefully prepared meals, highlighting local ingredients in a comfortable and convivial atmosphere.


Thanksgiving- Boundary Road will open at 7pm for beverages and light snacks. No dinner service.

FRANKENLunch- Join us on Black Friday for our Brunch/Lunch fusion from 11am-3pm. No reservation necessary!

  • "Went on a Sunday at high noon and it was fantastic! Our mixologist, Sarah, did an extrordinary job at keeping us happy. The Brunch punch and Vespa cocktails were delish. I had the most heavenly light and savory quiche and heard tales of the apple pancakes and rueben benedict! They have lots of options for vegetarian and gluten free. Definitely suggest that you check it out."

  • "The perogies were an amazing appetizer. My wife had a nice risotto dish, well prepared and quite tasty. I had the steak, which unfortunately was quite chewy. The sides with it were excellent, but I should have had the chicken (which looked delicious on the table next to ours)! Dessert ice cream and brownie was awesome. This was our first date night out from our little boy in months; great place and an almost perfect meal."

  • "I'm lucky to live on the Hill close to Boundary Road. I keep going back and it is the standard for comparison for all the other fine places along H Street NE. Each dish - appetizer, entree, or desert - has layers of flavor that come forward from the first note to the finish. The cocktails, beer and wine change from visit to visit. The staple entrees are complemented by what is local and fresh. Chef Brad is friendly and always happy to talk about what is working with each dish. He is happy to talk food with kids, too. The casual atmosphere belies how sophisticated each plate is. I love this restaurant."

  • "I ordered soft shell crabs on both of my visits and they were delicious. Had a wonderful dandelion, arugula, dried cherry salad with a wonderful balsamic dressing. I took my son and his girlfriend and we all ordered specialty drinks which were tasty and interesting. I love the wines offered by the glass as I look forward to exploring new wines that I am totally unfamiliar with drinking. Love this restaurant!"

The food was very good, the service was great and they allowed us to linger at the table and enjoy each other's company. We never felt rushed or that we needed to leave.   • "Arrived early for reservation and headed to the bar. A variety of handcrafted cocktails, international wines, and microbrewery beers are on the menu. We tried several cocktails, all were outstanding. Service at bar was attentive and drinks did not take an outrageously long time to make despite the care that goes in to each one. Some bars make you wait just a little too long for the artisan cocktails. Once our table was ready we sat down and found the service to be quite fast considering how busy they were. It was artichoke week so we started with the artichoke flatbread. Simply easy and light. I had the blue fish, while my guest had the halibut. Halibut was good but sweet potatoes were too smoky. Finished with the donuts - lovely!"

Was able to book reservations in the afternoon for a dinner that night without any problem, and when we showed up with 5 instead of the 4 we thought we had, they were very accommodating. Cocktails were outstanding and food was very good. Service was attentive and efficient. A little noisy for good conversation, but where in DC isn't?"

  • "Party of 8 for birthday celebration - Samantha saw to our every need. Began w drinks and meat and cheese plates; noteworthy beer selection, plus folks enjoyed the I'm thinking of buying a Vespa. Rye Rover basically a Manhattan. Onto the mains of Bison hangar steak and Bluefish - both great. We'll be back!"

  • "First caught a glimpse of this place on a recent episode on Food Network. They did not disappoint! Service was easy going and excellent with recommendations. The food was crazy delish! Everyone at the table had something different and all raved about their plates. I hate the brick chicken. OMG! It was so flavorful, juicy and it was a huge portion! It was hot from start to finish. From drinks, to wine; appetizers to dessert, this place was fantastic. Will be going back again! THANK YOU!"

  • "H street is close to my office, but I go home when all the H Street restaurants open up. It's hard to find decent food at lunchtime on H Street. The menu was limited for lunch but very satisfying and made good choices for all types. Don't have to drive downtown when you want something better than sandwich and pizza. Most H Street restaurants tend to play REALLY loud music and can't even talk. Here, the service was friendly and prompt for 8 of us at noon. Had nice cheese/meat tray to start. They got pretty busy. Hoping other restaurants take the hint! We're here...open up!"

  • "We came here and ended up eating a bunch of different dishes. The fries are delicious (and the mayo too!). The house salad is not a wimpy salad at all; you get a heaping portion, but it could use some form of crunch besides just vegetables. We also had the pork and beans and the sweetbreads, both of which were also very tasty. The bison short ribs were absolutely wonderful, with the smoky sweet potatoes really pulling the dish together. The halibut was well cooked as well. Only complaint was that the vegetarian dish, while delightful, is the same basic dish (farro risotto) that they've had since they opened. It's really tasty, and sometimes the vegetables change up, but it could be nice to see an interesting new vegetarian dish instead."

  • "I've been wanting to eat at Boundary Road for some time so when we had a friend in town, it was the perfect reason. Unfortunately every element of our evening was "Meh" at best. The server cared for us like she had absolutely no interest in being there that night. When asked if there were specials for the night, her response, a soul crushing "Nope". I have two positive things to say. They can make a good french fry and they have a good wine list. Every other element was so underwhelming, it will be a long time before someone will convince me to return."

  • "We could not have enjoyed brunch more. The menu was eclectic, with lots of fun options. After much deliberation, we settled on the Reuben Eggs Benedict and the Apple and Cheese Pancakes (both must-try dishes!), with a side of what was possibly the most amazing bacon ever. My breakfast cocktail--the ....Vespa--was good, and my friend's bottomless punch was light and delicious. We also loved the decor, especially the unique light fixtures. I am thrilled that Boundary Road is just a short walk away from my friend's new place... and she's even happier!"

  • "Boundary Road is fantastic... staff knows their stuff, the chef and his team make amazing food. Chef Brad Walker seems to have a true gift for meat. The cocktails are off-kilter and yet classic. The wine list is brief but well thought out and covers all the bases, and there is a constantly-changing and yet consistent beer list. A neighborhood joint that makes you wish you lived in that neighborhood."

Service was a little slow, largely because our poor server seemed to be having to cover the bar as well (the bartender didn't seem to be able to handle more than two customers at the bar). However, our server was really nice and was doing her best! (Food was slow, too.) And it is a pleasant place to be! I would go back for the fish, and for the risotto dish."

  • "Boundary Road is almost someplace I would return to regularly but in several areas falls flat. The portions can be undersized. The pacing is slow, far too much of a gap between appetizers and the main course. There appears to be inconsistency of the quality of food, although that was observed by follow diners rather than myself. Being seated by the kitchen window is noisy and distracting, granted for some they find it enjoyable. Overall I enjoyed it but am doubtful we shall return."
