Boulud SudHail to the Quail!Had a lovely stuffed quail for a change from the always great Chicken tagine. Marvelous. It's always fun to discover something new on the always excellent menu. And the appetizers were exceptional as well.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect dining. The dinner was wonderful. A wide choice of dishes allows to satisfy all the desires, the wine list is exhaustive, the irreproachable service. This experience(experiment) was a total success. I deeply recommend "Boulud Sud" to whoever wish to discover the Mediterranean gastronomy.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMToo popularBecause of popularity the restaurant was full with guests.
So, it may not so suitable for the guest who prefers quiet atmosphere.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptionalThe tasting menu was one delicious serving after another. I'm going to tell anyone who will listen how great this place was.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service personnel - waiter,The service personnel - waiter, greeters, wine steward - all friendly without being gushy, well informed and helpful. The tidbit to start with (sorry I forget the French word) promised an adventure. The octopus over arugala was excellent though the aioli wasn't seasoned sufficiently, needed more garlic zing. The rib eye was just ok with the sauce, a bagna cauda, very inappropriate. The spring peas were a nice touch as were the roasted shallots and potatoes. I would judge the main course as average. The sommelier did help us pick a nice bottle of wine in the affordable range that complemented all courses especially the cheese (which was a bit skimpy). Still for the $60 prix fixe I would go back.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMUnusual & delishFirst, I was struck by the MANY things I wanted to order, THEN that the offerings were unusual without being 'precious', but most of all the food very satisfying, and quite delicious. We found a great Red wine from Santorini, & the staff was very friendly, yet efficient. Definitely a PLUS for people like us who visit Lincoln Center often.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost all of the food wasAlmost all of the food was great. For the beef tartar I perfer the classis variant over the way it was prepared.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a brunch on Sunday. We all had 3 course Prix Fixe. They were all great and price is a bargain $32.
Especially, Morrocan themed appetizer was amazing. My garden salad with hot mini potatoes was good.
Overall, very satisfactory.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable DinnerExcellent food, excellent service, and a wonderful dining experience. We shall be sure to return on our next trip to New York City.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMimaginative food, great dessertsThe octopus appetizer was perfectly done. In all the dishes, there was a pallette of flavors. The teas available on the dessert menu were high quality and served correctly. Inexplicably, our initial server totally forgot my cocktail order, and I never mentioned it, having reconsidered; nor did he. A different server took over when the meal was served, and he was excellent, and perhaps the original serverwas just in a rush to go home. Overall, great dining for lunch, great view with a window seat or a kitchen view, and, of course, not inexpensive, but good value.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was incredibile. The food was incredibile. Our server gave us excellent suggestions starting with the cocktail and ending with the dessert.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA High Price For AmbienceBoulud Sud is a restaurant with outstanding ambience and good food. However its prices are much higher than average for these features. For example, $18 for a Ketel One martini is unconscionable.. Also portions are quite small.
It is convenient, if you are going to Lincoln Center and are willing to pay a premium for a Hot Spot in a neighborhood with other good restaurants.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeAmazing food. One of those restaurants where you just know that anything you order will be absolutely fantastic. My only qualm was that the waiter told us the bronzino was $50 and served two people, but it ended up being $50/person (i.e., $100) on the bill. Other than that, a great evening.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMnice addition to the areawhen you walk in - if you go straight - you could fall down the stairs. Very dangerous entrance. Should be corrected. Also --needs some kind of shelf in the ladies room near the sinks- I had to put my purse on the floor in order to wash my hands.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the PatioFun sunny patio across from lincoln center is great for people watching. Menu is different but everything was first class.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy! This lunch was among 4 friends! We chose the three course lunch with wine pairing and enjoyed every morsel. Crispy Artichokes! A musts. Hanger Steak Delicious, Ratatouille divine and the grapefruit dessert A MUST OF FRESHNESS! All the wines were superb with our appetizers thru the dessert wine. We will be back!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMboulud food, service are greatexcellent fish, interesting prix fixe, variety of dishes to share, can choose an excellent wine at a moderate price if you study the wine list.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPraise for Boulud SudYou can always count on a specially prepared, delicious tasting, well served dining experience. The proximity to Lincoln Center is an added advantage. A delightful place to dine.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a wonderful restaurantThis is a wonderful restaurant with very interesting and delicious food and a lovely setting which is very comfortable and relaxing and enjoyable. No one rushed us and we all agreed it was a perfect place to meet. We shall return soon.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA high end meal very wellA high end meal very well presented. Nothing memorable, I fear, but not a note was jarring. Good apps, good sized mains (a fine Tuscan steak cooked as requested), nice vegs. Good desserts. But still nothing memorable.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre theater placeMy son (11) and I had a great experience here before going to ballet. The food and service were outstanding! I was called to confirm my open table reservation. The waiter(Kevin) took special care to explain each dish to my son. He offered to have have any dish altered for my son if necessary. Several people checked on us during the meal. The waiter also selected an excellent wine to pare with my meal. The seats provided privacy and the decor was modern. The attire is formal with jacket and tie. Not sure if it was required but it elevates the level of dining. My son had octopus appetizer that melted in you mouth. The rabbit was also delicious with a light broth. We will certainly dine here again.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAs ExpectedOur first trip to Boulud Sud was as expected- terrific!
Our table was ready per reservation and the waiter was aware of food allergies as listed on our Open Table reservation. The room was vibrant, but not loud. Comfortable tables and chairs that were well-spaced added to our experience. Service was impeccable. Ample staff worked together as a well oiled machine. The menu was not overbearing, but offered several standards as well as some outside the box items. Wine list was complete. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner- not too fast, not too slow. Our waiter was always nearby, but not hovering.
We highly recommend Boulud Sud for your next trip to New York.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMcmDineExcellent food, great service, table close to the kitchen - to busy/loud5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat modern take on MediterraneanBoulud Sud offers a modern interpretation of Mediterranean cuisine using the best American and European seafood and vegetables. The presentations were lovely and the food delicious. We especially liked the soups, Soupe de Poisson and Vidalia Onion Soup, and a boned quail wrapped in skin. We were offered an interesting wine list that included selections from our favorite regions such as Langedoc in France. Our visit was a very satisfying experience and we will go back.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the 7 course tastingWe had the 7 course tasting menu and were very pleased with the dishes. They were beautifully prepared, consisting mainly of fish and sea food thus allowing for a lighter but very filling and satisfying meal. The service was courteous, thoroughly professional and warm.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat For SharersThe food is fantastic.
The service is great- if a little intrusive.
If you like Mediterranean style food you will enjoy Boulud Sud.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMImprove serviceWe arrived on time, our table was not ready no big deal, went to the bar and waited, after a while my wife went to the receptionist who acknowledged that she forgot about us.
We order a plate to share and some appetizers, evyrhing came at the same time. We had to ask to take back the apppetizers while we finished the first plate.
We ordered a bottle of wine that was left alone in a service table even though our glases were empty. Getting the attention of someone to serve the wine was an adventure5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMnever dissapointsThe food, service and attention to detail never falter. My only problem is the sparkling water offered upon being seated, which then shows up as a charge on your bill. It's a minor point, given excellent food and wonderful wait staff, but it's annoying.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMoutstanding serviceRecently took my mom for lunch when we were on a tight schedule. The server managed to make the lunch seem leisurely but was highly conscious of our request to be done by a certain time and kept us handily on our schedule. He was a real pro. This simply added to an already great experience with excellent food and a beautiful room.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative MeditarraneanBoulud Sud is a wonderful addition to the generally barren Lincoln Center restaurant scene. the food is tastely, creative and beautifully served. The service is friendly, even in the pre-performance rush, and the room is inviting and adds to the experience. The quality of the experience is consistent across many visits, each of which has been thoroughly enjoyable. While pricey, experience seems to justify the price, especially in comparison with many other options in the area.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect pre Lincoln CenterI have found the perfect place to have a pre or post Lincoln Center dinner . The food is excellent. Ambience fine and service perfect.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBoulud Sud - a new favorite!Great flavors and very good quality of ingredients. Service was pleasant and generally unobtrusive. The dining room was packed, so the noise level was high, but still able to carry on a conversation. Really loved it.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for Mothers Day and itWent for Mothers Day and it was great. 3 course price fixe was perfect.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGet the Octopus AppetizerIt was amazing, and save some room to dip the focaccia bread in the humus!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall excellent experienceAmazing food, great service, nice atmosphere at reasonable price. 5 stars on all aspects!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional experienceOne of the best restaurants in New York. Seasonal menu featuring a wide selection of creative presentations. Hamachi crudity appetizer was excellent as was Cedar grilled Rouget and Moroccan chicken tagine. Highly informed and attentive service. Expensive but worth every penny.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerWe had a wonderful experience for a late dinner. Food was absolutely outstanding
Christine, the sommelier made sure all our needs were taking care of.
We'll definitely come back5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFlavors sing!Delicious food. Great flavors. Nice variety . Small, medium & large plates. Sharing is encouraged. Very fresh & seasonal.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite a Good Lunch But...Had a very good lunch at Boulud Sud. The prix fixe had good and tasty choices at a fair (though not bargain) price. Unfortunately, our table backed onto one with three small children. They were decently, though not perfectly, behaved but struck me as inappropriate to the room and the food. I thought the things I ordered were a bit precious. The tastes were interesting but the sausage suffered from a sameness that became a bit boring. The chocolate dessert was quite lovely. All in all, a sound choice but not so exciting that I'd be rushing back.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for pre show Lincoln CenterIf you are on a special night out and going to view a performance at Lincoln Center, this is a great pre show restaurant. The food is AMAZING, and worth the steep prices. The staff is accommodating. If you are from out of town it's fun people watching too!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe scene is lively, comfortableThe scene is lively, comfortable and affluent. The food is interesting and experimental--not amazing but interesting and fun. The service is excellent. It's a good "before the theater or opera" choice--the dinner moves right along without feeling rushed. All things considered, a really nice experience. I'd definitely go back if I needed to dine again in the Lincoln Center area.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second time going to bouludMy second time going to boulud sud and once again, a fantastic experience! The lavender, honey infused vodka drink is reason enough to go (not to mention the grapefruit givre) but my brother was visiting from out of town for his birthday and I wanted to do something extra extra special. Boulud Sud exceeded expectations and was "the best meal of his life." The location and atmosphere are vibrant and fun--perfect for a celebration or a group of friends! Will definitely be coming back!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMReal Mediterranian placeIt was our first time at Boulud Sud. Food is excellent, makes you remember every bite. Service is outstanding. Place is a bit noisy. It should be more romantic to match the food and service. Overall: good experience, but it would be excellent if I would have coversation while i am dinning in lower notes.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food in a pleasant, upscaleGood food in a pleasant, upscale atmosphere...at a price.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBoulud Sud is a gem--deliciousBoulud Sud is a gem--delicious and innovative food, excellent service, interesting wine.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHeading a Boulud TrifectaHaving been to all the other Boulud restaurants in New York including the flagship Daniels, we had great expectations of this one.
Boulud Sud did not disappoint. The ambiance exuded a simple sort of elegance . The maitre de was genuinely welcoming, service was excellent - attentive without any obtrusive waiters hovering around, . The food definitely lived up to our expectations . It came out promptly in a timely sequence , all in a relaxed setting. We will go back there soon for sure !4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and combinationGreat service and combination of mid eastern foods. Very tasty4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDelectable food, suave service,Delectable food, suave service, and an intriguing Mediterranean menu make Boulud Sud not only the best pre-theater dining option near Lincoln Center but also one of the city's top restaurants, worth traveling to even if you don't have theater tickets.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went early and had a greatWe went early and had a great dinner in a quiet atmosphere. When we were leaving at 8:30 it was much more noisy but by today's standards still OK.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is the perfect place toIt is the perfect place to dine before Lincoln Center. The food is wonderful, although the fish special at $100 was a bit pricey (a heads up by the waiter would have been better when he announced the specials). The food is fresh and there are wonderful choices for fish and meat lovers...and plenty for vegetarians as well. The dining room is stunning!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
