Boulud Sudoutstanding serviceRecently took my mom for lunch when we were on a tight schedule. The server managed to make the lunch seem leisurely but was highly conscious of our request to be done by a certain time and kept us handily on our schedule. He was a real pro. This simply added to an already great experience with excellent food and a beautiful room.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect pre Lincoln CenterI have found the perfect place to have a pre or post Lincoln Center dinner . The food is excellent. Ambience fine and service perfect.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBoulud Sud - a new favorite!Great flavors and very good quality of ingredients. Service was pleasant and generally unobtrusive. The dining room was packed, so the noise level was high, but still able to carry on a conversation. Really loved it.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for Mothers Day and itWent for Mothers Day and it was great. 3 course price fixe was perfect.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGet the Octopus AppetizerIt was amazing, and save some room to dip the focaccia bread in the humus!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall excellent experienceAmazing food, great service, nice atmosphere at reasonable price. 5 stars on all aspects!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional experienceOne of the best restaurants in New York. Seasonal menu featuring a wide selection of creative presentations. Hamachi crudity appetizer was excellent as was Cedar grilled Rouget and Moroccan chicken tagine. Highly informed and attentive service. Expensive but worth every penny.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerWe had a wonderful experience for a late dinner. Food was absolutely outstanding
Christine, the sommelier made sure all our needs were taking care of.
We'll definitely come back5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFlavors sing!Delicious food. Great flavors. Nice variety . Small, medium & large plates. Sharing is encouraged. Very fresh & seasonal.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite a Good Lunch But...Had a very good lunch at Boulud Sud. The prix fixe had good and tasty choices at a fair (though not bargain) price. Unfortunately, our table backed onto one with three small children. They were decently, though not perfectly, behaved but struck me as inappropriate to the room and the food. I thought the things I ordered were a bit precious. The tastes were interesting but the sausage suffered from a sameness that became a bit boring. The chocolate dessert was quite lovely. All in all, a sound choice but not so exciting that I'd be rushing back.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for pre show Lincoln CenterIf you are on a special night out and going to view a performance at Lincoln Center, this is a great pre show restaurant. The food is AMAZING, and worth the steep prices. The staff is accommodating. If you are from out of town it's fun people watching too!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe scene is lively, comfortableThe scene is lively, comfortable and affluent. The food is interesting and experimental--not amazing but interesting and fun. The service is excellent. It's a good "before the theater or opera" choice--the dinner moves right along without feeling rushed. All things considered, a really nice experience. I'd definitely go back if I needed to dine again in the Lincoln Center area.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful restaurant. PresentationBeautiful restaurant. Presentation of food gorg! Apps were good. Flatbread , falafel. Entree's ok lamb burger, merguez sausage. Desserts really good - grapefruit something and rose tartlets - food not hugely flavorful. Mild flavors but desserts delish5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second time going to bouludMy second time going to boulud sud and once again, a fantastic experience! The lavender, honey infused vodka drink is reason enough to go (not to mention the grapefruit givre) but my brother was visiting from out of town for his birthday and I wanted to do something extra extra special. Boulud Sud exceeded expectations and was "the best meal of his life." The location and atmosphere are vibrant and fun--perfect for a celebration or a group of friends! Will definitely be coming back!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMReal Mediterranian placeIt was our first time at Boulud Sud. Food is excellent, makes you remember every bite. Service is outstanding. Place is a bit noisy. It should be more romantic to match the food and service. Overall: good experience, but it would be excellent if I would have coversation while i am dinning in lower notes.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food in a pleasant, upscaleGood food in a pleasant, upscale atmosphere...at a price.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBoulud Sud is a gem--deliciousBoulud Sud is a gem--delicious and innovative food, excellent service, interesting wine.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMHeading a Boulud TrifectaHaving been to all the other Boulud restaurants in New York including the flagship Daniels, we had great expectations of this one.
Boulud Sud did not disappoint. The ambiance exuded a simple sort of elegance . The maitre de was genuinely welcoming, service was excellent - attentive without any obtrusive waiters hovering around, . The food definitely lived up to our expectations . It came out promptly in a timely sequence , all in a relaxed setting. We will go back there soon for sure !4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and combinationGreat service and combination of mid eastern foods. Very tasty4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDelectable food, suave service,Delectable food, suave service, and an intriguing Mediterranean menu make Boulud Sud not only the best pre-theater dining option near Lincoln Center but also one of the city's top restaurants, worth traveling to even if you don't have theater tickets.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went early and had a greatWe went early and had a great dinner in a quiet atmosphere. When we were leaving at 8:30 it was much more noisy but by today's standards still OK.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is the perfect place toIt is the perfect place to dine before Lincoln Center. The food is wonderful, although the fish special at $100 was a bit pricey (a heads up by the waiter would have been better when he announced the specials). The food is fresh and there are wonderful choices for fish and meat lovers...and plenty for vegetarians as well. The dining room is stunning!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a pre-theater dinner thereHad a pre-theater dinner there last Friday. Very accommodating and the fixed price choices were delicious. It is expensive but worth it.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost perfect but not quite.Overall, the food and service was excellent except for two glitches. The lemon pasta with lobster was ambrosia. The lamb flatbread was truly delicious. But my rabbit with orecchiette dish overall was a bit heavy and under-seasoned. And my friend had to request his coca-cola several times before they remembered to serve it to him.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is very good. Delightful,The food is very good. Delightful, surprising combinations.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful restaurantA really wonderful restaurant. It was just a bit too noisy and thus somewhat difficult to hear our own table conversation. Happily, I don't think there is any music, which would render it impossible to hear. The food is inventive and excellent in every way, and the Mediterranean concept works beautifully.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, artisticallyExcellent food, artistically presented. Choices for shared items varied and two are suitable for a table of four. Entrees included # of selections fish, fowl, meat, pleasing for varied tastes.
Service was good, but a bit clipped and perfunctory; doesn't match up with the quality, interest or variety of food.
Tables a bit close together, difficult for wait staff to pass between diners.
Room appearance very appealing. High ceiling, contemporary, subtle lighting. Wood on several woods softens the feeling and absorbs sound, as does the carpeted floor.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMReally special food! It wasReally special food!
It was my third time there, will definitely go again and again...4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable DinnerI'm not a big fan of bench seating with tables lined up next to each other and this is how we were seated at our recent dinner at Boulud Sud. Usually the conversation isn't easy and nor private; however, this arrangement did work for us this time.
The service was outstanding and most accommodating. We selected a glass of wine to start our dinner. Our waiter allowed us a small taste before pouring our serving. This particular wine just didn't "do it" for us. He immediately suggested another one which we tried and purchased the bottle to have with our dinner.
Our meal was excellent, both of us enjoying fish dishes. We opted for a cheese plate for dessert along with a port....WOW! Pricey meal but memorable and worth it!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious lunch and greatDelicious lunch and great service. I was surprised it wasn't crowded.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHave dined at Boulud Sud umpteenHave dined at Boulud Sud umpteen times. Never disappointed. The restaurant is one of Daniel Boulud's best spin-offs of his NY flagship restaurant, Daniel. The food is terrific, the service is suavely professional. My choice, by far, for where to dine before a show at Lincoln Center. And good enough to be a superb destination irrespective of other considerations.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed an excellent dinnerWe enjoyed an excellent dinner at Boulud Sud. This time we chose the prix fixe. All courses were outstanding. The grilled loup de mer was perfectly prepared and the octopus ala plancha was delicious. We love this restaurant's wonderful selection of Greek wines.
The weather just turned to spring and I noticed that the outdoor seating is now available. But it would be a shame to miss the lovely indoor decor and ambiance.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the perfect spotThis was the perfect spot for brunch before the afternoon play at the Vivien Beaumont Theatre. It did not feel like a typical cater-to-theatre-crowd place. It was special. The food presentation and quality was superb.
We would eat there again--regardless of the Lincoln Center location. Thank you!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMlovely for lunch...great foodlovely for lunch...great food in such a pretty room and such nice waiters..a little bit noisy at night but nonetheless one of the best the
upper west side has to offer4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPut it on your List.Innovative and Imaginative food with a staff that seems genuinely glad to have you there. Very special.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVastly overpriced even forVastly overpriced even for the Lincoln Center area. I suspect that the $60 prix fix menu did not represent the most outstanding items this restaurant has to offer. Still, for this kind of price tag one would expect more quality than what was presented.
The main course, a fish dish, was well prepared, with a rice pilau, but nothing special. Of the deserts I opted for a grapefruit concoction that had no detectable trace of grapefruit but was a definite overkill with the pastry chef throwing in all leftover sweets and spices into what seemed to be a scooped out orange peel.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience. Food wasGreat experience. Food was the best. Would visit more often if it wasn't so expensive.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is so nice to sit in aIt is so nice to sit in a NY restaurant where the food is good, service is accommodating and friendly, and you can hear the conversation at your table!!!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a restaurant thatThis is a restaurant that lives up to high expectations. The food was fantastic. The ingredients were each of the highest quality, but the chefs put the dishes together in a way that was magical. Well done. Great value too. I will be back! If you have heard of this restaurant and are trying to decide whether it is worth it . . . it is. You must go. Highest recommendation.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent menu (there wereExcellent menu (there were so many good choices, it was hard to make a decision)! The lamb burger had to be the juiciest burger we have ever had.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThank You Boulud SudWhat can I say besides amazing, I have personally worked for Chef Daniel before, and this has to be one of his best restaurants.
The octopus was cooked perfectly, I've gone to so many places and they often over cook octopus, but Chef Aaron did a spectacular job. The beef tartare was out of this world, and I had thought I found the best beef tartare a year ago back in Miami. The combination of the Harissa with the beef just had my taste buds dancing the whole night. We couldn't stop raving about it. The entrees were spot on, the duck duo I had was just prepared perfectly, there was no low point to my meal.
Then to wrap it up chef Ghaya had so much creativity to her desserts that I had to question what was in each dessert at least twice3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful dinnerWe had a wonderful dinner at Boulud Sud. The food and service were excellent. The sommelier suggested a great wine well within our price range. Overall - a fantastic experience. Highly recommended and plan to return.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM10th Anniversary DinnerThey took great care of us on our 10th wedding anniversary.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenalPhenomenal food and attention to details make Boulud Sud a special place even to New York standard.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely cordial staff andExtremely cordial staff and service, scrumptious lunch and overall wonderful dining experience.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHave dined at Boulud Sud perhapsHave dined at Boulud Sud perhaps half a dozen times. Have yet to find a dish that's less than wonderful or a staffer who is less than attentive and efficient. Other Daniel Boulud restaurants can be hit-or-miss. Not Boulud Sud. It's a consistent triumph.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA good place for opera nightsGreat addition to the area around Lincoln center.
We tried Bar Boulud a while ago but were not very impressed.
The menu at Boulud Sud was much less standard and even with the prix fixe menu between 5-7 pm, there are still a lot of options to choose from.
The food was excellent and the sommelier suggested a beautiful wine to go with it.
All in all this will probably become our go-to restaurant on opera nights.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA great experienceWe've been to Boulud Sud three times now, and every time surpasses the previous time. The food is delicious, perfectly cooked and seasone. The portion sizes seem right to us and the pacing between courses is good as well. The wait staff is always courteous, friendly, informative, all without being too in-your-face. All in all, a delightful experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Travis Swikard is incredible!!Chef Travis Swikard is incredible!! Creative, personable, and extremely talented!
p.s. Handsome too:)3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place when itI love this place when it has full menu options. Been twice in past week (once at 9pm and once at 6pm). Evidently before 7 they only offer prix fixe (I guess to get everyone to their shows on time). But I was disappointed in the selection vs their regular menu. I think its a great place to order lots of small dishes and share which is not an option before 73/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
