We were visiting NYC for our 25th anniversary and chose this restaurant because I'm a fan of Daniel Boulud's cooking and because my wife and I both love mediterranean food. We were not disappointed. There are so many wonderful-sounding dishes on the menu it was very hard to decide but we had the OCTOPUS À LA PLANCHA (incredible), the GAMBAS AL AJILLO (beautifully cooked but very subtle), the MEDITERRANEAN MEZZE (best falafel I've ever had), the SICILIAN SARDINE ESCABÈCHE (beautiful), the OLIVE OIL POACHED HALIBUT (amazing), the CHARRED BROCCOLI RABE (meh), and the PATATAS BRAVAS (fantastic, smokey, hint of harissa). And the Grapefruit Givre is probably the most unexpected and delicious dessert I've had in a long, long time.

We went with the prix fixe since it was more affordable than ordering à la carte. Both main courses and both desserts were superb. I loved my chicken Tagine and the assorted ice creams, especially the rose flavor. One appetizer, the octopus, was fabulous but the other, shrimp, was disappointing. There was nothing wrong with it but nothing special either. Our Santorini wine, presented with a flourish as being the last bottle in the cellar, was wonderful.

I really enjoy having lunch at Boulud Sud but so far have only eaten in their outdoor cafe due the lovely summer weather. I particularly love the greek salad and grilled octopus ala plancha which i have served together. Delicious and healthy too. I like to have this with a glass of their Bandol rose. Yum!

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious late lunch at Boulud Sud. We ordered from the prix fixe menu. The selections were varied, the portions generous and the food wonderful. The service was professional without being over bearing. My one comment was the price of wine by the glass. There were few options for less that $12 a glass.

We had a wonderful dinner. we ordered the prix fix menu. the portion were good size. The beets salad was excellent and the octopus appetizer was very tasty and pleasantly tender. The hake was cooked to perfection. The chicken tagine was below expectations: the chicken was cooked to perfection (moist and tender with a crispy skin) but the vegetables and couscous were over-salted and timid on spices. Not to miss the grapefruit givre dessert.

WE had a delicious dinner in a pleasant setting before a concert at Lincoln Center. The food was excellent, the service wonderful and not stuffy nor condescending. It is also extremely conveniently located across the street from Lincoln Center. It is pricey but worth it, in our case for a special occasion and for others as a routine. I would definitely recommend it.

We tried the Restaurant Week Menu this time--the salmon crudo was bursting with flavor, and the tuna entree was very good. The chicken tagine was good but not terrific, with mostly dry white meat. The staff were helpful and attentive as usual, although when we wanted to speak with the sommelier she had already gone for the night. (We were surprised to be served a wine from Calabria which had been listed as being from Liguria.) It did not spoil our evening but it came as a surprise since we have come to expect perfection!

Sorry that they don't allow a corkage fee. Their wine list does not allow for a fair number of inexpensive wines. They should have some for restaurant week. Also, there were too many supplements on the restaurant week menu. If you want people to come back, which is the goal, then these factors should be taken into account.

The food was very tasty, nicely presented, good portion sizes, great value for the money. The menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, entrees, desserts, it would be difficult not to find a meal on this menu even for the most selective diner. Highly recommended and on my list of favorites. The entire staff from the bar, greeter at the door, waitress, water staff were exceptionally attentive. The service was not rushed, they were right on time to clear dishes between courses, thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

My friend and I took advantage of the Restaurant Week Prix Fixe menu. We had a fine dining experience. The atmosphere and service from beginning to end was lovely. We made different choices for all three courses. We were both completely satisfied with the first course and dessert. As for the main dish, both the steak and the tuna were very tender and supported by excellently seasoned beds of supporting veggies; however the steak and tuna themselves were surprisingly plain/unseasoned. Nevertheless, we would both return, no question!

My fiancee and I had dinner here during restaurant week and it was fantastic! The service was friendly, helpful, and professional, the decor/ambiance was elegant and warm, and the food was spectacular and inventive. I would highly recommend the brioche crusted loup de mer (which was one of the best fish dishes I've ever tasted) and the fried cochinillo (which was an additional selection for the first course of the restaurant week menu). Overall, it was an extraordinary meal!

I wasn't so sure about going to Boulud Sud unfashionably early during Restaurant Week, but it was a delight from extremely professional and friendly staff and pleasant, uncluttered ambience to first rate fare (even on the limited Restaurant Week menu). The service was outstanding and the food very fresh and tasty. I went during restaurant week for lunch. My daughter LOVED her lamb burger. The desserts were terrific. I did not love my main course, which is why I did not give it 5 starts, but I've come to the conclusion that that dish is simply not my thing in general, so 4 stars is really too low but all I could visually assign. I would eat here again and I do recommend it.

Everything was first-rate: the beet salad, the lamb burger with polenta fries, the small bits of almond cake (not almond-y enough) with rose petal ice cream (fortunately, not too perfumed). Each plate was nicely designed and presented. Portions were ample. Excellent Spanish olive oil for dunking very good olive bread. Attentive, expert, smiling service. All right, I've convinced myself. I'm going to try to go there today, as well, for the last day.

This time we had the Restaurant Week menu, four of us. A good selection of choices. My citrus-cured salmon appetizer and tuna main course (sushi grade - I ordered it rare - although it was not listed as such on the menu) were sparkling and truly wonderful, as was the delicious dessert. Impeccable service, friendly and helpful hostess, too. Only minor problem, quickly solved, is that the tables right next to the open kitchen are very loud, with lots of clanging metal and dishes. Fortunately, there was a better table also available. Water glasses were kept filled and other signs of a well-run restaurant.

The ambience was very casual, but servers were disciplined very well. Had citrus cured salmon for the first course. Liked the hidden anchovy sauce. Second course was Long Island tuna. Tuna, per me, excellent mix of seasonings! Chocolate mousse dessert shared by all, the best! I always wanted to try this restaurant after having a great meal at Daniel's. The Octopus A La Plancha appetizer was excellent - the best octopus I've had. The shrimp appetizer (Gambas Al Ajillo) was also excellent, with a very tasty Spanish chili sauce. All three of us had the Brioche Crusted Loup de Mer, which was prepared to perfection - nice firm white fish and the brioche topping was nice and crisp, providing a nice texture without being greasy. I had the Grapefruit Givre for dessert and it was the perfect way to end. A nice sorbet with a very funky hairdoo! The Almond Gateau and Gianduja Mousse also got rave reviews. The only downside was each of my selections had an upcharge, so the $39 restaraurant week special went up to $61.

I love the lunch menu and especially the lamb burger. The desserts are delicious, inventive and beautiful. There are a few out door tables on Broadway, but as a NYer I don't see the attraction of eating on a busy street full of bus fumes--I make an exception in Paris and Rome!
