Diner Reviews
  • "Wow those crispy artichokes -- best place to get them outside of Italy-- unbelievable and very nice staff as well"

  • "Overall great food and drinks. Just avoid the kale and beet salad Which was bland abd forgettable. The grapefruit dessert is obe of the bes desserts i have ever had. Tha. Paper table tops are terrible if they get dirty or greassy"

  • "Went for the pre-theater prix fixe. Generally, the food was thoughtful and well-prepared. Two complaints: the first course arrived way too fast, and about one-third of the steak was inedible because of a tendon that ran through it. The tendon was visible and it was obvious that much of the peice could not be eaten. It should have never been served."

  • "This evening was everything I expect. Food and service was incredible. You are missing of you do not stop I for dinner with friends. The share plates are fantastic and the Tartar is outstanding."

  • "My three pals and I went here for a Saturday lunch birthday -- the food was perfect as was the service. And when we stayed talking until 3:00 we were never rushed or made to feel "it was time to go"."

  • "A wonderful dining experience, friendly, attentive staff and beautifully plated three course meal. We were very pleased with our selections - arugula with grilled octopus appetizer, strip sirloin for my husband, and scallop "paella" entree for me. Desserts were decadent and delicious - chocolate torte and chocolate mousse. A great choice for a special occasion and convenient to Lincoln Center and Columbus Circle events."

  • "When finished with her meal, the diner at the table next to us knocked over a glass of wine on our table. Part of the wine went into my entree and most of it was absorbed by the table covering. Six staff descended on our table and they replaced what needed to be and had the tad reset within minutes! I even had a replacement entree(it was fresh pasta with an excel land sauce) in front of me within a few minutes. When my wife and I ordered desserts, a third one appeared on our table for "our troubles", complementary of course. We will be back!"

  • "Food exquisite, service impeccable. This restaurant is really special. The prix fixe menu is a bargain."

  • "The restaurant itself is a short walk across the road from the Lincoln Center. It has a large dining space, but tables fill up right before showtime at the Lincoln Center. I took my wife here for her birthday and partook of the pre-show prixe fixe menu. Got the mezze plate and shrimp appetizers, the chicken tagine and harissa-spiced lamb entrees, and the chocolate ganache dessert. All of the dishes were excellent -- especially the hummus and babaghanouj on the mezze plate. Chicken tagine was soft and succulent. The only thing that didn't strike my fancy was the couscous on the lamb plate. Restaurant also provided a complimentary glass of dessert wine to my wife for her birthday!"

  • "My friends and I had a wonderful dining experience at Bolud Sud. The food and service were outstanding and Ivy and her staff took the extra step to make sure that we were well taken care of. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a wonderful dining experience"

  • "Went there to celebrate a birthday and the food was amazing compared to the summer of 2013, the service was good and they took note of the fact that it was a birthday and made the desert round very special! Daniel has truly earned his lost * from 2013!"

  • "Service was not as good as it has been or I've come to expect. Perhaps with Boulud in the house, the staff got out of step with us. The wine steward was most helpful selecting, and then wandered a bit."

  • "I like coming here but one consistent problem is the MALE wait staff. They need more training, to know when to interrupt and not to begin talking about the specials when you've just sat down. , Usually when you're trying to order a drink, or when someone at the table wants another drink there is no one around and we are swiveling to catch someone's eye but have become invisible. The male waiters are nice, but lack judgment and finesse. We waited 30 minutes for bread the other night, after asking twice. . This is not the first time. Recently though we were not ready to order and hadn't called the waiter, he arrived, pad open, and didn't leave until we ordered. . Would like to see a few more simple wine selections by the glass. Thanks"

  • "hands down -- nothing even close in the area to this level of quality and ambience. Why would you want to go to fiorellos?"

  • "I have been there many times. The staff is really nice and the food is out of this world. Delicious and small bites if you like. Good for sharing food --excellent restaurant and I highly recommend. Restaurant is managed very well."

  • "We had lunch before going to the Metropolitan Opera. It is so convenient and the food and service very good. It was our first time there and we would definitely go back. The prix fixe lunch menu was good value as well as tasting good!"

  • "We love all of Daniel's restaurants. This place was a great fusion of different flavors, really different from his French and Modern American restaurants in menu, but the same in quality, service, and ambiance. Highly recommended!"

  • "We had an excellent dinner here. The food is expensive but top notch. Also good cocktails. Great for a special occasion."

  • "From the welcoming and warm attitude of the staff to the very fair price ($32 prix fixe for three courses) to the superb quality and presentation of the food to the attentive-yet-not-obtrusive professionalism of the waiter -- I can't think of a thing that could have been better. The two selections of bread, the sliced cold meats, the garden salad, the steak and eggs and the lamb burger were all excellent. Ditto the gelati."

  • "It's my second time at this Restaurant, but again I'm disappointed with the food. For starter my wife ask for octopus and it was good, For main course we ask for pork and Venison, both came savorless. The service was good, but a bittle bite confuse."

  • "$32 for three courses - soup at the Boulud restaurants is always excellent. Had the potato leek soup with watercress pesto to start, eggs en cocette for main course and the pistachio chocolate tart for dessert. Everything was fantastic and flavorful. Service was wonderful and we really enjoyed ourselves."

  • "The elegant but understated dining room is the perfect back drop for the bold tastes and dramatic flourishes of Boulud Sud's menu. Each dish, a list of Mediterranean classics, was deeply flavorful and beautifully presented. Big hits included the grilled octopus starter and the perfect scallops. We also went nuts over the crazy-delicious Givré, a frozen grapefruit rind stuffed with grapefruit sorbet and covered with a deranged mass of shredded halva. Even though I am not a big grapefruit fan, I would go back again just for that dessert."

  • "Chef Travis has amazing talents and the entire staff from Remi and Kevin on down to waitstaff ( Kyle!!) do an amazing job of making you feel welcome, appreciated and seeing to it that you are happy campers!! Bravo."

  • "Perfect for pre-opera. Great menu and service. Food terrific."

  • "First time here and I tried out their Prix Fixe Brunch. I recommend The Cocotte as it was an out of this world sausage and egg combination. The Hummus was tasty, too. The Blood Orange Dessert and Ice Cream were a perfect way to end the meal. I really like the creativity here and how well it's done. I've been to many places that try to be creative only to ruin dishes. Not the case here. It is pricey and I'll never understand why a glass of Mimosa is $16 but I guess that is par for the course considering the area. Service was a little slow at times but very polite, friendly and professional."

  • "We LOVED the food - but felt like the youngest loudest ones in the dining room. It's very upscale and quiet so this isn't the restaurant for a boisterous group. However - the food and service were excellent and we enjoyed the experience very much!"

  • "Second visit for us at Boulud Sud. We ate an early dinner before the opera. Location could not be more convenient, arrived 20 min late to no complaint (tunnel traffic), and seated at the window. Pre-fixe dinner @ $60 for 3 courses. Georgian shrimp special for appetizer, one lamb, one chicken, dessert was glacee and chocolate mousse. Shrimp was beautiful, but only 1 large. Entrée also modest size, OK with me, and very good. Dessert and coffee as good as any. Service was uniformly outstanding. Food was very good. Nothing that makes the list of best dishes ever, but all very good with a good menu and exceptional wine list. I would say comparable to picholine across the street for food, but much noisier."

  • "Food and service and management were each in sync and tremendous. Pre-theatre prix fixe menu offered wide choices and is a great value at this level of food and service."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "This is a casual and comfortable setting with creative, delicious food worthy of Daniel Boulud's name. We were not expecting such a good meal experience in a touristy/theatre area of NYC. Everything from cocktails to dessert was fantastic. The service was quiet, attentive, and friendly."

  • "Have been there many times for their superb food. The total experience of dining there is a pleasure."

  • "The dining room has no charm but the food is usually very good and the pre-theater prix fixe is tempting.Chicken tagine was flavorful, but leek and potato soup should have been hotter."

  • "We chose this place based on Open Table reviews and we were not disappointed. It was a great pre theater dinner. One reviewer mentioned the Grapefruit dessert and the odd hair like topping (so I had to try it just to see it) and I would agree that the hair was odd, but the actual sorbet was quite good."
