We went to lunch here before seeing Don Quixote. Service was very good. Portions were small, and a bit expensive. I had scallop salad. Four scallops at about $7.00 per scallop. Dessert was fair. Appetizer was good

A friend and I dined from the a la carte menu after the pre-theatre sitting and had an excellent meal, as always. My companion is a vegetarian and had many options, chosing the spiced squash soup and pumpkin ravioli, while I relished the lentil and lamb soup and the spiced sea scallops. The housemade gelatos and sorbets are luscious. Service was impeccable and staff even offered to bring our coats to us at the table when we were ready to leave. My only wish is that some dry sherries be added to the otherwise admirable wine list.

Although the reviews were good I wasn't expecting the food to be as great as it was. The prix fixe dinner was amazing value and everything we had was delicious. Beats some of the "big name" restaurants we've been to. The service was also excellent. The only thing I didn't like was the ambiance and general decor - it looks a bit tacky and dated (though it's not). We would definitely go back for a pre-show dinner and highly recommend it.

Boulud Sud offers the best pre-Lincoln Center offering in that neighborhood. We splurged on the truffles addition to the prix fixe menu, and it was worth it. Of course, this pushed the tab to close to $300 all in -- be warned. Service was as fast as necessary to get us to our event, with no stresses.

It comes and goes quickly. The vaunted white truffles, not Chinese, but Italian. Yes, there is a supplement involved, but it scents the opening of fall theatre and opera season in Manhattan, Lincoln Center. Shaved almost to translucence white truffles elevate hand made gnocchi to sublime. It is all about aromas and tastes at Boulud. Toast with Spanish cava and then Rossini's eternal, The Barber of Seville, and you have memorable dining, music and song. GaltDines.

Don Newman and I shared a delicious raw fluke (in a citrus marinade) with mushrooms app, octopus app, and sea urchin app. I then had the swordfish kabobs, with a Moroccan sauce, etc., which was delicious. Don had the rouget, which turned out to be overcooked, but he didn't say until after he finished it. We had sundry sweets for dessert, nothing special. We shared a bottle of fume fuss, which was fine. Not a great wine list, as I didn't recognize one bottle, and too few were reasonably priced.

I have been to Boulud Sud many times and cannot help but wonder why the service is sometimes exquisite and sometimes intolerable. We have been waited on by people who border on the rude and seem blissfully unaware of the needs of their customers. On the other hand, the service is sometimes gloriously professional and warm. I suspect that under the watchful eye of the maitre 'd, all goes well. When he or she is absent, it's catch-as-catch-can. So try for a little more graciousness, please, waitstaff. We are paying for your excellent food as well as good service.

Boulud Sud excels in every way. The large, comfortable bar and dining room are sophisticated without being pretentious. The menu, divided into 3 categories, de la mer, de la ferme, and vegetarian, offers both traditional and innovative takes on Mediterranean cuisine. You can pick and choose from each one, depending on the level and mood of your appetite. The wine list is amazing, although pricey, but there are a number of very good reasonably priced options. Service is professional and friendly, and the servers seem genuinely pleased to wait on you. Who could ask for more? This is New York City at its best.

This restaurant is an asset in the Lincoln Center area. Our lunch, to which we'd invited a friend, was entirely satisfactory -- good food, friendly service, and a quiet space to have a conversation. If we have one complaint it is that their signature octopus appetizer, which is indeed delicious, is overpriced at $22 for the tiny (the waitress's accurate word) portion you get -- octopus is not a luxury fish. Otherwise all went well.

Food was great but service was awful considering the number of staff on hand. Once seated we waited at least 10 minutes before we received a menu. Another delay before anyone asked us about water and then nothing happened. Someone else came back and asked the same question and followed through. Different staff came and went but there was no coordination - it all seemed disorganized and slapdash and not up to the standard we expected. The food however was wonderful - interesting and satisfying.

If you're going to Lincoln Center, the $60 pre-theater menu at Boulud Sud is a wonderful way to start the evening. The food is exquisite -- I love the grilled shrimp appetizer and the Moroccan chicken -- and the portions are large. The deserts are terrific. Service is always polite and perfect. The portions are ample, so if you plan to eat light, try elsewhere, as there is no ala carte menu until 7 pm.

I tried for weeks in advance to get into Daniel but didn't have much luck on a Saturday night at a decent time so I did some research into one of the other Boulud restaurants. It was my anniversary and I wanted a special restaurant with very good food without the pretentious of many of the notable gems.We were pleased from the moment we walked in.The service was exceptional(Jonathan was our server),the food had so many different flavors but somehow not intimidating to try. This is a restaurant we will frequent many times and not just for a special occasion. The mediterranean soup, octopus and quail were some of our favorites.

I went to the restaurant with high expectations and was quite upset. The food was not as delicious as I was expecting for the pricing. The shrimp appetizer tasted like shrimp in garlic butter, which is nothing to write home. Most flavors in other dishes were bland, but notable on what spices where used. I feel like acid vs base and textures could have been utilized better. I don't frequent these restaurants, so maybe this cuisine just isn't my cup of tea. Lighting/ambiance was stuck between, fine dining/romantic/modern. They need to pick one, and go with that

This was my second dinner t Boulud Sud and the second was as perfect as the first. Food and service were impeccable. We were there pre theater and were required to do the $60 prix fixe menu which was fine because it had a good selection of appetizers, entrees and deserts. Nice decor and low noise level, which is important to me. I would recommend Boulud Sud to anyone who wants a great meal in beautiful surroundings, as long as you don't mind spending a bit more.

This was my fifth time dining at Boulud Sud in the past couple of years. And it keeps getting better. The prix fixe in the early evening is not just a bargain but a delight. The ravioli were conversation stopping. The lamb loin perfection. Suggested wine pairings for the courses were spot on and well-priced. There are so few really fine places in the Lincoln Center area (I personally find Bar Boulud a little loud and cramped) so this restaurant is a wonderful oasis.

Boulud Sud has the right 'ingredients' for a great restaurant but is coasting on the reputation of the Boulud name. All the food was well prepared but varied from 'inspired' to 'what happened' - ie. why serve a chicken tagine in the iconic clay vessel when it wasn't cooked in it? Service was spotty and in some cases simply uninformed. And lots of unsubtle suggestions to push up the tariff - which is steep to start with. Way overpriced for what they deliver!
