Daniel Boulud has remade and improved so many types of cuisine that I am a bit surprised that he waited to devote a restaurant to Mediterranean cooking. But Boulud Sud, which has been open for three years now, was worth the wait (his and mine). He offers more than Provençal fish soups and tomato dishes. Boulud seemed to start with the premise that the Mediterranean Sea laps at more beaches than just those of Marseille. Boulud Sud offers guests delightful takes on traditional dishes from France, Greece, Turkey and North Africa. (And that was just the night that I was there.) We were a party of five and we all were very impressed and we vowed to return to Boulud Sud as soon as we can - even if that meant not going together.

It is not our first visit at Boulud Sud and other restaurants of the guy, this time we went for brunch and the food was very good, very tasty kicken tagine and deserts even better ; modern version of tiramisu, cinamon cake and mignardises. We also took wine by the glass, Chardonnay from California (Boulud's wine) was great as well BUT the service was very bad even if there were not many guests, it was very loose; I had to ask two times to get the wine served as we wanted to have a glass while waiting for the appetisers, it barely came at the end of the appetisers... Why having so many waitters if they do not serve the clients ? Nevertheless a nice place to go even if the quite expensive

Exceptional- from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out. The hosts are quick and friendly not much time wasted there. Once you sit down at your table, it only takes less than a minute for the bread and water to arrive by very professional staff members. The wait staff is also professional and well informed, just about perfect attentiveness- not too overbearing or too neglecting. Menu descriptions are true to what was presented, dishes are perfectly priced, portions are perfect, of course the presentation of food and DEFINITELY the taste. Elegant and classy without the snooty factor, swift and attentive without feeling rushed, and well-balanced & portioned and flavorful without leaving you feeling hungry or overwhelmed.

The little plates to share and appetizers divided into food types were interesting. Chicken tagine not as I recall, but good anyway. The martini was the smallest we have ever had and cost$18.00 which is the most we have ever paid. I do not recall whether they gave any in between tidbits or something at the end as the Lincoln does??Unless, you order dessert that was it.Also some inner line outdoor tables butt right up to the counters places from Epicure Boulud which seems too cosy for what turns out to be an expensive meal

i was excited to eat here for a nice long lunch ... this was my first time having Boloud's prix fixe lunch. what a disappointment. the food was mediocre and poorly thought of. the watermelon salad was a bunch of over dressed lettuce with four small pieces of over ripe watermelon. the entrees were equally ill conceived! this restaurant is fine for late night snacks ... but not a full meal.

We were visiting NYC for our 25th anniversary and chose this restaurant because I'm a fan of Daniel Boulud's cooking and because my wife and I both love mediterranean food. We were not disappointed. There are so many wonderful-sounding dishes on the menu it was very hard to decide but we had the OCTOPUS À LA PLANCHA (incredible), the GAMBAS AL AJILLO (beautifully cooked but very subtle), the MEDITERRANEAN MEZZE (best falafel I've ever had), the SICILIAN SARDINE ESCABÈCHE (beautiful), the OLIVE OIL POACHED HALIBUT (amazing), the CHARRED BROCCOLI RABE (meh), and the PATATAS BRAVAS (fantastic, smokey, hint of harissa). And the Grapefruit Givre is probably the most unexpected and delicious dessert I've had in a long, long time.

We went with the prix fixe since it was more affordable than ordering à la carte. Both main courses and both desserts were superb. I loved my chicken Tagine and the assorted ice creams, especially the rose flavor. One appetizer, the octopus, was fabulous but the other, shrimp, was disappointing. There was nothing wrong with it but nothing special either. Our Santorini wine, presented with a flourish as being the last bottle in the cellar, was wonderful.

I really enjoy having lunch at Boulud Sud but so far have only eaten in their outdoor cafe due the lovely summer weather. My husband and I enjoyed a delicious late lunch at Boulud Sud. We ordered from the prix fixe menu. The selections were varied, the portions generous and the food wonderful. The service was professional without being over bearing. My one comment was the price of wine by the glass. There were few options for less that $12 a glass.

We had a wonderful dinner. we ordered the prix fix menu. the portion were good size. The beets salad was excellent and the octopus appetizer was very tasty and pleasantly tender. The hake was cooked to perfection. The chicken tagine was below expectations: the chicken was cooked to perfection (moist and tender with a crispy skin) but the vegetables and couscous were over-salted and timid on spices. Not to miss the grapefruit givre dessert.

WE had a delicious dinner in a pleasant setting before a concert at Lincoln Center. The food was excellent, the service wonderful and not stuffy nor condescending. It is also extremely conveniently located across the street from Lincoln Center. It is pricey but worth it, in our case for a special occasion and for others as a routine. We tried the Restaurant Week Menu this time--the salmon crudo was bursting with flavor, and the tuna entree was very good. The chicken tagine was good but not terrific, with mostly dry white meat. The staff were helpful and attentive as usual, although when we wanted to speak with the sommelier she had already gone for the night. (We were surprised to be served a wine from Calabria which had been listed as being from Liguria.) It did not spoil our evening but it came as a surprise since we have come to expect perfection!

Sorry that they don't allow a corkage fee. Their wine list does not allow for a fair number of inexpensive wines. They should have some for restaurant week. Also, there were too many supplements on the restaurant week menu. If you want people to come back, which is the goal, then these factors should be taken into account.

The food was very tasty, nicely presented, good portion sizes, great value for the money. The menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, entrees, desserts, it would be difficult not to find a meal on this menu even for the most selective diner. Highly recommended and on my list of favorites. The entire staff from the bar, greeter at the door, waitress, water staff were exceptionally attentive. The service was not rushed, they were right on time to clear dishes between courses, thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

My friend and I took advantage of the Restaurant Week Prix Fixe menu. We had a fine dining experience. The atmosphere and service from beginning to end was lovely. We made different choices for all three courses. We were both completely satisfied with the first course and dessert. As for the main dish, both the steak and the tuna were very tender and supported by excellently seasoned beds of supporting veggies; however the steak and tuna themselves were surprisingly plain/unseasoned. Nevertheless, we would both return, no question!

The service was friendly, helpful, and professional, the decor/ambiance was elegant and warm, and the food was spectacular and inventive. The service was outstanding and the food very fresh and tasty. I went during restaurant week for lunch. My daughter LOVED her lamb burger. The desserts were terrific. I did not love my main course, which is why I did not give it 5 starts, but I've come to the conclusion that that dish is simply not my thing in general, so 4 stars is really too low but all I could visually assign.
