A word from Bouley
Bouley features the exciting culinary talents of famed four- star Chef, David Bouley. Bouley offers French cuisine with modern Asian influences served in an elegant and intimate setting.

In addition to the á la carte menu, the restaurant offers a $55 five course tasting menu for lunch and $175 six course tasting menu for dinner. Parties of 8 or more may order from the tasting menu only and deposit is required to secure a reservation. Chef Bouley is always happy to accommodate all dietary needs and restrictions.

Jackets are required for gentlemen at both lunch and dinner.

  • "When you step though the door of Bouley, you are transported to a setting that is tranquil but not stuffy , food that is visually as well as tastefully exquisite and service that is attentive but not overbearing. My friends and I had the lunch tasting menu and each dish was satisfying and out of the ordinary in terms of the combination of ingredients, spices and appearance. It was a wonderful dining experience. The price is reasonable given the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. You are sent home with a baked treat that caps off the experience. We will return."

  • "My intention was to take my fiancee to a special, romantic dinner while we were in NY. She is gluten free and prefers organic, and Bouley fit the bill on all counts. What I did not expect was the most extraordinary, flawless, delicious and absolutely impeccable dining experience of our lives. We are world travelers and have had the pleasure of dining in top-rated restaurants around the globe. In one meal, Bouley jumped to the top of our list. Managers Emanuel & Nico were charming yet totally professional; Sommelier Dean listened to our likes and tastes (and accommodated my budget) and recommended what turned out to be the perfect wine for our meal; Carrie, our server, was also charming and the overall experience was, simply put, perfect."

  • "Started with an amuse bouche and an extra course of lobster with strawberry foam which was delightful. Big eye tuna with green apple foam & osetra cavair was a lovely combination althought the tuna was a bit too cold and lacked flavor. Black Cod with miso was nicely complemented. An extra course of white & green asparagus with a morel was heavenly. Long island Duck was flavroful and perfectly prepared. Organic strawberries with amaretto ice cream was so fresh and light that we did not need the final dessert course and found it was too much. Overall, a wonderful special lunch."

  • "We started with not a gracious maitredee. Although we made reservation a week in advance they gave us the worst table. I invited some Foodie friends from France no body was impressed. The food was so so and you will not believe the size of each dish . It was as small as the size of tasting menu dishes. We should have gone to Per Se or Cafe Boulud to get our moneys worth. I will not go back and will not recommend it to anybody."

  • "Can't say enough about Bouley. The food, wine and service were beyond outstanding. We were with Italian foodie friends and they were also suitably impressed. Only comment is don't take/accept the table right by the fireplace as the wait staff have stations on either side of the fireplace and it is a little "busy" right there; ask for a table further away."

  • "The service here was outstanding - professional and friendly - and the dining room is lovely. However, while the food was very good, at this price point we expect the cuisine to knock our socks off - and for the most part it didn't. A disappointment was the lamb loin which, ordered medium-rare, instead arrived rare, making it chewy instead of fork-tender as it should have been. And the accompanying fresh peppermint puree, which sounded inspired, tasted a bit grassy and lacked the depth that could have been provided by a good stock underpinning. The restaurant dramatically illustrates today's inverse correlation between portion size and price."

  • "Top notch service and decor. Zagat ratings are accurate, but personally I thought the food was a bit bland and that's a very subjective opinion. Bouley's is like a good broadway show that is thoroughly enjoyable, but later on you just can't quite hum the tunes. I've eaten tastier food is what I guess I'm trying to say, though it's definitely not lacking for quality or inventiveness."

  • "Bouley is one of the finest restaurants in New York. Food is imaginative and delicious. Decor is elegant and harmonious. So why is the service consistently below par? On our latest visit, dishes were seemingly dropped off a la UPS, and, in one case, a cover was not removed from the plate. One could almost sense a simmering hostility between service personnel and management. Hopefully, they'll get their act together before we return."

On a recent visit, it indeed succeeded in standing apart from the rest of the pack -- namely, through appallingly terrible service that in its incompetence, unpleasantness, and awkwardness, easily exceeds anything I have witnessed in twenty years of upscale dining in Manhattan. Something has gone tragically, wretchedly wrong at this restaurant, which is all the sadder for those who know its potential for greatness. Happily there are numerous wonderful places to eat in New York; Bouley appears no longer to be among them."

We had wanted to bring a bottle of wine we received 21 years ago to celebrate- but they do not allow corkage. However, the Sommelier was amusing and knowledgable, and the wines he selected were good. We have dined at Bouley many times over the years, in three different locations, the service was excellent."

  • "got there at for an 11:30 reservation did not get seating till 11:45, no explaination. Server was very aggressive with water and cocktail service (I didn't even look at the cocktail menu yet he just dropped it) Then he walks away and starts talking to his fellow staff. Everyone was just talking to each other in a very quite dining room, it was really uncomfortable. (overheard that the bread guy use to work in the garment district) After the initial greeting I was ignored, I had to wave someone down for a food menu and I was the only one in the restaurant. Then they forgot my hot water, will they forget my coffee? Lunch was 120 for one person so I feel that service should be much better."

  • "We went for the 5 course tasting lunch menu. There were 5 of us and it was outstanding. We experienced a lot of the different offerings and all were wonderful. Because of NY having so many wonderful restaurants I always try and never repeat a restaurant on a visit. After experiencing Bouley I will break that tradition and hope to return to Bouley soon. It was outstanding!"

The extras - the two amuse bouche, the bread cart, handmade chocolates with coffee, and the take-home lemon bread - made us feel like we were at the home of a welcoming and generous host.   • "We have had the pleasure of dining at some of the world's finest restaurants. The meal prepared for us at Bouley was the best meal I have experienced. I had the oysters to start, followed by the salmon, which was a special that night. They were both incredible. The oven that allows the fish to be cooked with moist heat makes the fish extraordinary and like nothing I have ever had. The subtle flavors of both dishes were memorable. I cannot fathom getting a better meal, service, ambiance....from the fragrant smell of the apples lined up on shelves at the entry to the "gift" of fresh bread when you leave--Bouley has it all and more."
