we do not live in NYC but we come here every 2 months. we have been celebrating special occasions in the restaurant for the past 10 years. we normally use it for lunch given the bargain (cost/benefit) of the pre fix lunch. the food is excellent in general although sometimes (as this last one for eg) we feel they could use a little more salt- it may be our ittalian taste though. we still need to try Bouley for dinner although i have the impression it would be substantially more expensive. Wine selection is very good too. definitely the place to celebrate a special date and, if you are not in the mood to spend a lot on food and have a tasting experience, go for the pre fix 5 courses!

The tasting lunch menu was amazing with so many creatively presented dishes bursting with wonderful flavours, a tribute to the chefs. Service is very attentive and this is all set in a most elegant setting. This was our 2nd time to dine here in 4 years and we certainly were not dissapointed this time. Will go back again on our next trip to NYC. A must for foodies visiting New York.

Though we didn't mention our special occasion to any of the servers, their attention to our dining experience was perfection, accompanied as it was with their complete knowledge and even humor. There were four of us for lunch and we ordered the tasting menu paired with wine. Just splendid. Not being oenophiles, it was easy and enjoyable to have the professionals take care of us. The chef sent out several special tastings in-between the established 5 courses. The flavors and textures were sometimes surprising and always pleasing. I would have liked to take away all the descriptions and names of the wines we drank - but am happy to savor the remembrance. And we discovered sauce spoons!

There is a reason why it is a1star Michelin rating vs 3star. Bodley has a top notch beautiful room. Food is ok. You will have courses and say it was good but not memorable. I would recommend to skip and head toward 3star Michelin restaurants like Jean George's. There is a big difference!

Were did it go wrong? It started with a dining room that resembled a funeral parlor. Then, we were given lunch menus although were dining at 7:30PM. What followed was a meal that I am ashamed I paid for. My wife and I ordered the tasing menu. The first course (mushrooms in a coconut broth with tuna) was lacking salt and fishy. The wild salmon was just bland. The third course was a poached pheasant egg with comte, ham in a coconut garlic broth. The lamb was competent albeit, very small. The desserts tasted good, but are ultimately forgettable. All in all, eating here was a bad decision. This resaurant is masquerading as better and more refined than it is. A better tasting dining experience can be had elsewhere for half as much.

Hard to believe that this kitchen could get better but there were a couple of dishes, notably the giant sea urchin, which had been tweaked to make them even better. The opening dish (amuse bouche is a wholly inadequate sobriquet) was simply gorgeous. We ate the 5 course tasting lunch - tasting menu summons images of tiny morsels and smears but the helpings are generous without overwhelming. Add to that another five complimentary dishes from the Chef and this is the best value fine dining in NYC.

My brother and sister-in-law were in town and I searched for someplace very special. Friends had just lunched there and said it was exceptional. Our lunch was just that--exceptional. From the amuse-bouche of strawberry and tomato, among other ingredients, accompanied by a second, a gluten-free cracker with potato purée and black truffle, it was sensational. The five-course prix-fixe standouts were porcini flan with crab, the mushroom melange, chicken, smoked salmon with blinis, the foie gras with a sensational Armagnac sauce, lamb, and the incredible, generously served bread. The warm, helpful staff encouraged us to sop up sauces with the marvelous brioche. The room is among the most intimate and beautiful in the city.

Visiting NYC and made plans to dine at Boukey as we had heard it was a terrific restaurant. We have traveled the world looking for the best fine dining restaurants wherever we are going. Bouley would have to be near the top of the list! The staff were warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The room was well laid out and our table was not wedged into a corner as is often the case in NYC. The food was exceptional all the courses and little extras were delicious. However I think the best part was the sommelier who recommended lovely choices for champagne, white wine, red wine and an after dinner drink. A TRULY MEMORABLE MEAL

Went here with friends thinking I would just have to piece together appetizers/side dishes to make it fit with my vegan diet. But not the case! Chef made amazingly delicious vegan appetizer and entree! And of course, sorbet for desserts and in between meals (very French) which is easy for me. They even had gluten-free and vegan bread! It exceeded all expectations. Food was wonderful, service great, waiter was so nice - very accommodating and didn't feel as I was inconveniencing anyone. Definitely added to my list of favorite restaurants!

We went to Bouley for a birthday celebration. We opted for the chef's tasting menu, after the waiter explained how that would be something totally special, including dishes not available on the menu. Unfortunately, this means the normal tasting menu gets supersized and goes from 6 to 15 courses with everything on the menu but no special courses. We were looking forward to excellent food, but it was a mere "good" and by the time we got to the main courses, we were way past hungry. We ended up just trying a bit of the main courses and the deserts. The ridiculous amount of food was accompanied by a staff that spoke with such a heavy indian accent, that we, not native speakers ourselves, understood only part of what the courses consisted of.

The food, the drinks, the excellent and kind service was perfection. Nick especially was on point with suggesting wines as well as a champagne that just delighted my senses. What can I say about the food? All of it. The two apps, the special bonuses from the chef that flowed, the entrees, the sweets at the end. Not a single thing I didn't devour, appreciate and love. We started out smiling when we entered, and left in full on cherish cat grins. Thank you so much for an amazing memorable night.

This is a first rate restaurant. The food and service were impeccable. Pricing was in line with one what would expect at one of NY's finest restaurants. The one caveat was that the maitre d' almost ruined our experience. When we arrived at the restaurant, I told him how much we were looking forward to the dinner and that we were celebrating a very special anniversary. Without missing a beat, he directed us to the basement for seating. Subsequently, one of the waiters moved us back upstairs after asking us if everything was ok.

We just had the tasting menu, outstanding. We both consider this to be much better than another highly-rated restaurant whose chef's last name also starts with B, we're dropping that one from our list. The food here is innovative and perfectly prepared. While we didn't both necessarily love each dish, every dish was liked by at least one of us. The front-of-house works together seamlessly, the dining room decor is striking, there's nothing to not like here. The cheese quality was possibly the best I've had in NYC, perfectly aged. I mentioned I liked strong cheeses, the server made a special trip to the cellar for an absolutely perfect Epoisses. Heaven. Not a single service or kitchen flaw. Absolutely top of our list for next time.

In the end, with a tasting and wines, you are at over $400 a person. It's a nice, well spaced out room. Weird uncomfortable waiting area / bar to get in -- but at least it means there is no outside access to the restaurant so it remains special and calm. It's very nice, but I've eaten equally well for half the price in NYC

Visited about a decade ago & had a wonderful experience. A few changes, the little bakery has been replaced by an opulent velvet reception area where one might have a pre dining cocktail. The tasting lunch did not disappoint. Outstanding dishes blending textures, favors, temperatures. The staff could not be nicer very professional but not at all unapproachable. No longer live in the area but hope I don't have to wait another decade to repeat this wonderful experience.
