  • "This is a great restaurant in the heart of the Pearl Street district in Boulder, CO. The food is consistently great, the service is top notch and the ability to sit outside when the weather is conducive is always a nice option. We have eaten here numerous times when we visit our son who attends CU and not once disappointed. When we ask him to pick out a restaurant he would like to eat at ,it is always the Chophouse for his favorite steak !!!"

  • "Three of us dined at the Boulder Chop House and we absolutely enjoyed everything. The malbec house wine was great along with the appetizers which included the spinach and artichoke dip and calamari- both exceptionally good. The bison burgers were cooked to perfection and I added sautéed mushrooms to mine. Will definitely return here. Our server, Lauren, was fantastic and made great recommendations including the wonderful appetizers. Nice ambiance as well."

  • "But decided to go to Boulder Chop House this past Friday since it was opening day downtown (absolute craziness as the Chop House is right near Coors Field). Last time we went to the Boulder Chop House (about a year ago), we were underwhelmed. The food was good, as usual, but the service was very lackluster so we we're hoping this wouldn't be a repeat. We were pleasantly surprised and had a wonderful server - Chris. He was cordial, attentive and calm. The food and the wine was fanstastic!"

  • "A great dining experience, with the exception of whoever decided to light up a joint in the restaurant. If the Chop House is going to allow pot in the restaurant, I probably won't go there again, and I won't suggest it to those who don't like the smell, are opposed to pot, or who have asthma or other respiratory issues. I don't want the aroma of pot on my clothes, in my hair or second hand smoke in my lungs. We all smelled of pot when we left and we were all a bit dizzy - if it weren't a serious issue, it would have been pretty funny - we were once young, too. Pot is much stronger now, as is second hand smoke. You should warn people that pot is accepted, so consumers can choose to dine there or not. "Pot pairings" might be interesting."

  • "I love a good steakhouse. We looked at reviews for a good one in boulder and found the Chophouse and Tavern. While the service was great, the building looked like a good steakhouse, the food was only mediocre at best. I go to nice steakhouses in each city I go to and this was on par with chain restaurants. We thought this could be our local gem but I think we need to keep looking. Please don't get me wrong, it is not bad at all..... it is just ok/good. Nothing to write home about and certainly not worth the prices they are demanding as you could get a better steak elsewhere for the same price or cheaper."

  • "We had a party of 10 people, and the service was great. We were a little squished as our table was right next to another 2 large parties. The cocktails and salads were awesome, and everyone loved the cornbread! However the menu did not have a single "organic or 100% grassfed" steak which is unusual in healthy Boulder, and was a problem for some of our diners. The calimari which we ordered as an appetizer was flavorless and chewy. However those who got a steak said it was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were delicious too. Having a few more organic and healthy options would make the menu top notch."

  • "Had a nice evening with brother in law and his wife. Nice meal. Nothing out of the ordinary. Service was quite slow. Meal was served and then we didn't see our waiter for a good amount of time. Restaurant does have a great amount of competition in downtown Boulder. It was our last choice in that it was available for reservations where all the more popular spots had no reservations available"

In the 80 minutes we were there the noise level and thus our enjoyment went from quiet and very enjoyable to out-of-control and awful as large parties were seated, indeed, over-stuffed into the place. Why ruin the customer experience with a table down the middle of a walking space?"

  • "We ordered a bottle of wine and our courses and were excited to be on our food adventure! Our server seemed timid and new to the restaurant, he brought over a skillet of fresh corn bread after we had been sitting for 20 or so minutes and after we were poured our wine. Only moments later we received our appetizer course which seemed rushed . Before we could even finish our appetizer course our mains came out and a female server pushed our appetizer course aside! I have been to many tastings and never have I had a previous course sit on the table while I ate my next. I hadn't had time to digest anything which is how a tasting is supposed to be! My boyfriend resorted to the bathroom and became ill. I asked for the check."

  • "The food has gone down hill over the past few years, and I doubt we will be back. In fact, the only reason we came at all is because we had guests I town who wanted steak on or near Pearl St. on short notice. The food is OK, but just not worth the price. The steak was pretty tough for a $30 fillet, I can do better buying my own at Whole Foods and grilling it myself. The whiskey bourbon sauce no longer has mushrooms, and the flavor was kinda flat. Service was very good, and it was a nice evening overall, but that had more to do with the company than the food."

  • "I come here at least once every couple months and it's always been a good experience. The professional service is the perfect balance of attentive without being overbearing or invasive. The food is great. Weather you order a steak or one of the other selections, such as chicken pork or fish, they are tasty without being overambitious. Quality doesn't need to hide behind pretentious recipes. It is also surprisingly reasonable wait to get a table on busy nights for a restaurant of this caliber, unless it's parents weekend. I guess vegetarians make exceptions when Dad is picking up the tab!"

  • "Boulder Chop House has become our family favorite. With three CU Buffs in our family, whenever a birthday, graduation, or going away special dinner is planned, BCH is requested. The wait staff is always courteous and prompt, including the silent guy who is always there to fill a water glass or remove a finished plate, the food is delicious and always prepared to perfection - and we never feel rushed. Of course we'll be back!"

  • "Décor is outdated, menu is boring and uninteresting, and the service is minimal. $16 for Lobster Mac and Cheese appetizer is well worth it if you get more than a ramekin serving and 3 pieces of lobster. When was the last time a reputable food critic reviewed this place? I don't think they want to waste their time. This place is relying on "history" and location to keep it going. $175 wasted! Would much rather eat at one of the other amazing Boulder restaurants for half the price."

  • "A chophouse should have at least a good, if not great prime rib. This was terrible! I couldn't cut it with a steak knife. I ordered medium rare and got the end piece that was gray! The cheese plate had good cheeses but not crackers. That was a first for me. We came to the chophouse to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, as in marriage, you take the good with the bad. This was pretty bad!"

  • "Charming restaurant; feels like a Chop House w/ '40-'50s soft music, wood decor, smooth lighting, and smell of delicious meat. We love meat. The Lamb Chops were delicious,... the "special" dueling steak dinner was a let down,.. the meat was not fresh or just not done right. It fell apart in the mouth between tongue/roof of mouth like tofu. Wine list was good. Attentive service from the moment we stepped into the restaurants."

  • "The appetizer sampler was very good - in particular the spinache aritchoke spread! My filet was unddercooked, but it took too long to get our food to send back. Service was fine to start and poor once food was delivered. The bottle of wine ordered when dinner was delivered arrived 25 minutes later... when asked about the delay they said they were busy...We sent it back, and they returned with three complimentary glasses which was nice - but it wasn't what we ordered or really wanted."

  • "My husband and I thought we would dine at the Chophouse since we hadn't been for a while but had fond memories of it. I'm hoping we were there on an "off" night--although the service was very good, the food wasn't as great as I remembered. Salads were yummy as was the French onion soup and sautéed spinach (but since when does a side of root vegetables include celery sticks?). My prime rib wasn't served with a steak knife, so it got cold as I was waiting for our server to bring me one. I also would advise anyone who plans to go to ask for a table way far away from the front door when it's cold outside. About 15 minutes from our arrival, I'd already put my winter coat back on as did the woman who sat in the booth next to us."

  • "I believe these were likely the worst scallops I have ever eaten. They tasted extremely fishy and over cooked. The only thing my plate had going for it was the walnut rice. The waiter looked like he had not slept in days and rarely stopped to see how we were doing. The cornbread was cold which made undesirable. Those that I dined with had steak and were pleased."
