A word from Bouchon
Highly acclaimed chef Thomas Keller (of The French Laundry) is behind this beautiful Yountville restaurant. Enjoy excellent French bistro cuisine in a dining room offering wonderful Parisian ambiance.

We invite you to visit Bouchon Bakery, an authentic, country-style boulangerie located next door Bouchon Bistro. The Bakery serves traditional French breads and pastries and is open from 7am - 7pm daily.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The food was very good but we found that the meat selections were very costly. What we had was good and not too overly priced"

  • "This is a superb restaurant with very French food updated with local products. The wine list, as in much of Napa, is extensive and the service excellent. It gets a bit noisy at times but is not loud enough to be disturbing."

  • "Service was spotty. Booth was comfy. Food was decent."

  • "Quite crowded and loud. Still it is an excellent resturant. This time we were there for lunch. It took a while to finish our meal. The main course came a lot later. That can be good if you are trying to space out your meal. However, be aware of it if you are on a tight schedule."

  • "Four of us dined here to celebrate my wife's birthday. The experience was enjoyable, but not outstanding. Service was OK, except that three hot entrees were delivered together, and the fourth entree (cold, a salad) was delivered about 5 minutes later. We waited politely - but our food had cooled significantly by the time the fourth plate arrived. I'd have given only 2 stars for service, but the third star was redeemed because the young lady at the entry noticed that we were giving presents to my wife, asked if we were celebrating something, and arranged a complimentary peach cobbler. The food was good, but - in the opinion of all four of us - not superb, and certainly not Michelin star quality. The key question - would we return? Unlikely."

  • "Excellent food choices, unique preparation. Fresh ingredients. Excellent wine choices from local to international. Reasonably priced for Napa. I would review as outstanding overall, except server was confused as to order and mixed up tables when presenting check."

  • "Our experience at Bouchon was truly outstanding. Our waiter was punctual and professional. Our appetizers and entrees were exceptional. My trout almondine was the best I have ever had. The scene was vibrant and the experience was fabulous. We will go back in the near future."

  • "Trip to Napa for some wine tasting included dinner at Bouchon. Food was great. Highly recommend. Wanted to try everything on the menu."

  • "Excellent food and service and we weren't rushed. All members of staff were friendly and efficient. The only down-side was the noise level, a little loud but probably to be expected with bistro dining."

  • "What an enjoyable experience. The food was fantastic, service superb and atmosphere casual and friendly. Will definitely be back."

  • "It was great! We spent the day in Napa and finished it off with a lovely, fantastic dinner with amazing food & great ambiance!"

  • "What an incredible meal! We had oysters, frisee salad, tomato salad, trout almondine, lamb special - fresh, delicious, wonderful! We also had the worst table in the restaurant (much apologizing from passing waiters), waited 30 minutes for oysters (waiter was a bit condescending) and there were flies buzzing about! Not what we've come to expect from such a well-regarded restaurant."

  • "The food was pretty tasty but it took a very very long time to be served. Overall not a bad experience but not a great one either. I sent back a corked glass of wine and we were charged for it none the less. Lunch for two was a little over 200.00 dollars before gratuity. I understand that we paid for Keller’s brand but we could have easily enjoyed a luncheon just as good and certainly less expensive at any of the surrounding restaurants."

  • "We celebrated our friends wedding in Napa and on our last night we had the pleasure of dining at the world famous Bouchon Restaurant in Yountville and it did not disappoint. This Thomas Keller restaurant is easily one of the top 10 restaurants in the country. Everything was absolutely amazing. The service, ambiance, food and wine list were all on par with it's Michelin star rating. If you are in Napa, it's a must try."

  • "Was not expecting it to be so very loud. The coffered ceilings are lovely, but they amplify the noise in the dining room and make conversation quite difficult. Weather permitting, get an outside table if possible. The trout amandine was spectacular and the saffron mussels were excellent. Portions are quite a bit more generous than I expecting for a fine dining establishment. I would have indulged in dessert if I hadn't been so full. Service was outstanding; attentive without being clingy."

  • "Had never eaten at Bouchon or the bakery (which had a line out the door)..... Went there for brunch and it was a treat. My wife and I shared the chicken & waffles, croque Madame, and French onion soup. All were fantastic, cooked perfectly, and flavorful. The sauces for the chicken and the croque were to die for - perfect balance of richness and lightness. Service was perfectly attentive without being intrusive. We'll be back!"

  • "We had a fantastic dinner late on a Saturday night in August as part of our anniversary weekend in Napa Valley. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing. The lighting was perfect (not too bright) and you really felt like you were in some nice, high-end bistro in Marseille or Lyon. We have been here quite a few times and Thomas Keller has never disappointed us! It is really nice that all the wines are served at the proper temperature (56-60 degrees Fahrenheit for reds - room temperature in a medieval castle!)."

  • "From start to finish, we loved it. The bread is out of this world, and we had the truffle risotto and chicken with waffles. scrumptious."

  • "We had a wonderful time having lunch on the patio. Our server was incredibly professional, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was great. The tables are close to others but it wasn't noisy. We would definitely return."

  • "Innovative, tasty and practical. We always top off a visit to the Napa Valley by fortifying ourselves with a terrific lunch to tide us over for the long ride home. The next door bakery is also terrific for sandwiches and goodies."

  • "Its impossible that this place has one michelin star. Its like they wanted to give french laundry 4 stars, so they gave keller an extra star to throw at this one. While I understand that its a casual french brasserie, I expected the food to be really good, or at least up to the other Brasseries that I've been to. It wasn't at all. For each dish, the food was bland, or the flavors were muddled. So, AVOID this at all costs. There are so many better restaurants in the napa area, even if you're looking for a casual place with great food."

  • "Just an average dinner. Not up to our expectations."

  • "This was my first experience at a Thomas Keller restaurant. I consider myself a foodie to a small degree, so I had really high expectations. It did not disappoint. We ordered: - Devilled eggs - Mushroom Appetizer (Special) - Skate Wing - Roasted Chicken - Spottswoode Sav. Blanc. In terms of presentation, taste, temperature, texture - I could find nothing wrong. The vegetables especially had a crispness and freshness which I rarely experience (I assume the veggies come from their garden across the street or somewhere close). The uniqueness and balance of all the flavors in the dishes stands out - everything was memorable. If the French Laundry is better than this, it is clearly worth the trip."

  • "You cannot find fault in the food, it was perfectly prepared and delightful. However, for a fine dining experience, the service was disappointing. Four of us dined, and we asked for separate checks for the two couples. Our server told us she would take care of that in the end (which she did not, and had to request again at the end). We ordered wine, one glass being a chardonnay, and all glasses showed up as a red. When we finally got our servers attention, there were no apologies, just a brisk removal of the wine for replacement. Our food came very quickly, all courses served at the same time. Plates were being requested to be cleared while we were still eating. Eat at Bay Area establishments all the time - this was unacceptable."

  • "We had heard SO many good things about bouchon and were completely Disappointed. We had three people, two ordered steak frites which we were told was the best around. When the food came out, the steak frites were rubbery and well done when they had been ordered med rare and med. long story short, they take them back, all the while the other girl has all but finished her quiche, and the manager unapologetically brings a plate of OLIVES to "hold us while we wait" (again, no apology). First of all, neither of us even eat olives..we hate them! He didn't even ask what we would like while we wait. So presumptuous, unapologetic for less than stellar food and service. If u claim to be best in America, u better well live up. Won't be back!"

  • "Bouchon lives up to the Thomas Keller reputation. Exciting food choices, great service and warm ambiance. This stretch of Yountville on Washiington St has lots of great restaurants to choose from...just allow some leeway for reservations and this is one NOT to miss. Also try Redds and Ciccio. French Laundry needs 2 months lead time. Try Auberge de Soleil up Rutherford Rd....exquisite meals and view from deck to die for and easy to get into for lunch..but ask for the deck, in day time and inside for night time. Splurge..your are on vacation Mon"

  • "In the area we have had better food for less money. Don't go expecting French Laundry, it's a bistro and the menu is more simple. The food perfectly prepared, servers are experienced. If you are looking for traditional French bistro fare this is a great place."

  • "We picked Bouchon for a quiet & romantic place to sneak away and eat after our wedding. It was perfect. The food was outstanding (Quail & Lamb were our choice of entrees). Our server was the best we've ever had (my husband and I have both worked in high end restaurants in Sonoma, so our standards of service are high). We have found a new favorite getaway tucked away in the heart of Yountville. It's a "must-go" place"

  • "Owned by the same people who own French Laundry, Bouchon shares FL's gardens and attention to detail. The setting is classic French bistro, the menu offers variety and everything is done just right. The wine list is impressive and offers options from Napa and Sonoma to Burgundy and Tuscany. We had Heirloom Tomato Salad which was perfect, French Onion soup that puts others to shame and Steak Frites cooked to perfection. After the nice (and reasonably priced!) bottle of wine was consumed, we had no room for dessert but if the line to the bakery next door is any indication, it is worth trying. We selected a table outside which was perfect for summer evening in Yountville. Oh yes, and I forgot to mention a perfect bread."

  • "Four of us went to Bouchon for the first time on Saturday. Three of us had meals that were delicious. My husband ordered the pork chop and it arrived under cooked and cold. He sent it back and they brought back the same pork chop, still too raw and inedible. Yes, they took it off our bill, but offered no apologies. They offered to bring him another dish, but by this time the rest of us had finished our meals. Our waiter was non attentive and couldn't care less about our dining experience. We were just another party to "get through" Don't go, not worth the money."

  • "We had an anniversary lunch but they did nothing special for us but say "happy anniversary". The waiter rushed us throughout the curses and even presented the check while we were still eating desert. Salads (goat cheese) were good and big enough to share. The fish was good but overcooked. A side of French fries was undercooked and too salty. The desert (profiteroles) was mediocre as the crust was chewy. My wife had to sit on a giant crack in the bench along the wall which was uncomfortable. We were surprised it had 1 Michelin for that did not seem right to us. If eating there again (not likely), I would make sure to request an outside table in the reservation for they are less noisy and cramped."

  • "I had high expectations for Bouchon, so maybe that has something to do with it, but chef was too generous with salt on our salad, salmon tartare was good but nothing special. The best part of the meal was bread and wine (Chardonnay on special that day for $25 per glass). Our server was not enthusiastic, and that's putting it mildly, and tables were very close to each other, so I'd be having lunch someplace else next time I am in Yountville, e.g. Redd, where we had lunch the next day for the exact same $$ but had a much better experience."

  • "We were so excited to go to Bouchon but were horribly disappointed with very poor service and problems with both of our main dishes. One steak was undercooked and it took 15 minutes to be corrected without any explanation. The other was overcooked. Our server was inattentive to say the least. We wished we had spent our special evening out elsewhere unfortunately."

  • "We sat outside as it was warm......while the specials were listed with prices on a blackboard inside the restaurant the waiter reeled off the night specials but with NO PRICES. As we had out of town guests with us.....we did not ask.....it would have been awkward. Were we surprised when the bill arrived and the specials were all at least $15/ person MORE than everything else as an entree on the menu!! Even though we told the host when we left.....they just nodded ( and in effect, said TOO bad)........ It left us with a bad taste in our mouths Although we've frequented this restaurant many many times....NEVER more. Not fair. And success has gone to their heads. Even though we are locals.....they've lost us. Ahhhh well!!"

  • "We were really looking forward to having dinner at Bouchon during our Napa trip. We made reservations well in advance for our anniversary based on several recommendations from friends. The food was good, but the service was painfully slow and in my opinion sub-par. We were there for well over 3 hours, and had to ask for our check after 40 min. The patio was very cute, but the food and service made our experience at Bouchon pretty average. We had high expectations, and while we enjoyed our dinner it just didn't live up to the hype. There are a handful of other restaurants in the area that we wish we had tried instead, and a couple of others we left raving about after our meal. Not a bad experience, but didn't live up to our expectations."
