Fresh, local ingredients, prepared with care. Excellent wines that reflect the quality and character of our region and work in concert with the cuisine. Warm, inviting ambiance, service at a relaxed, leisurely pace.
Santa Barbara ‘Wine Country Cuisine’ means we source our ingredients using an ‘as-fresh-and-as-local-as-possible’ approach, with fish from the Santa Barbara Channel and produce from the surrounding countryside. We then take into account how these flavors can be presented in concert with our local wines. I believe you’ll taste the difference and see how well they work together.
We believe Santa Barbara is producing some of the finest Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Other locally produced varietals will surprise you with their quality, variety and approachability. Please ask your server for recommendations on how any of our 40+ wines by the glass match up with your selections. Bon Appètit!

  • "We were celebrating our 63rd Anniversary and felt that Bouchon was a delightful choice! The food was very good....I had a special salad with goat cheese and fresh figs followed by a mushroom ragout, both creative and delicious. My husband had the fresh sea bass and thought it was perfect! We enjoyed some Qupe chardonnay, which was an excellent choice! Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. He brought a charming small plate as a treat for our anniversary. We will definitely return!"

  • "Celebrated our anniversary at this charming spot for the second year in a row. The service is impeccable—friendly and helpful without being overbearing in the slightest. The menu is always interesting and the dishes are impeccably prepared. I'm not enough of a foodie to break down each dish individually, but we enjoyed every bite and found the experience to be extraordinary in every way. They have an excellent selection of Central Coast wines and a separate list for out of region, state and country selections. Our waiter's recommendations proved to be right on point. Highly recommended for a romantic night out or just a great French-influenced meal."

  • "Recommended by a friend and read reviews before going, all excellent, so had high expectations. It was a truly excellent evening. Crab cakes were exquisite and heirloom salad just right. Yellow tail salmon and sea bass mains were both tasty and interesting. Local Pinot Noir is a new favorite although waiter tried too hard to sell us up to expensive bottles of wine. We mentioned we were celebrating our engagement and the waiter went out of his way to take us to a gorgeous painting for the perfect picture. Ambiance is just right, fun, beautiful but not pretentious. A first rate, top tier, highly enjoyable dinner."

They scattered rose petels on the table as a happy birthday decoration, instead of singing, which we were both grateful for. The food and wine were delicious and the service was very attentive and friendly. This was the first time I had been to Bouchon and I will definitely go again."

  • "Food was very good and the menu has enough variety yet does not overwhelm you. Wine list has very good options at differenct price levels. Unfortunately when I got the check they added 20% Service Fee (which I have no issue with) but they did not mention it nor did they highlight it on the bill and left the tip section empty in the credit card slip. I almost ended up leaving a 40% tip but on second review I noticed the charge. I find that very rude and sneaky of them and left a bad taste in my mouth after an otherwise very good meal."

  • "IM MADE DINNER RESERVATION, SADLY THE TIME REQUESTED WAS NOT AVALIABLE . IN ADDITION THERE WAS NO ROOM IN THE MAIN DINNING ROOM, WHICH I THINK IT WAS A MISTAKE ON OUR PARTS. THE MAIN DINNIG ROOM LOOKED LOVELY AND VIBRANT. THE OVER FLOW DINNING ROOM WAS BORING, FLAT AND COLD. OUR DINNER ARRIVED AND IT WAS GOOD. WE ORDERED WINE WITH OUR DINNER. THE SERVER LOOKED FOR OUR WINE FOR SOME TIME, ONLY TO COME BACK AND ANNOUNCE IT WAS SOLD OUT. WE MADE ANOTHER SELECTION, WHICH WAS OUTSTANDING. SO A PLEASANT EVENING WAS HAD BY ALL, IT WAS A GOOD RESTARUANT THAT TRIED VERY HARD TO BE GREAT. SADLY I FELT IT FELL SHORT."

  • "We ventured to Bouchon for our ninth anniversary date; this was also our second visit to the restaurant. Once again we were treated with warm welcomes and excellent service. The food was outstanding and the wine pairings were spot on. The only down side was the very noisy group behind us that created a very noisy environment. We have recommended Bouchon to all of our friends and we will certainly return for dinner soon."

  • "I requested a romantic table because I was flying to Cali with my boyfriend for our anniversary and I was giving a pretty good table covered in rose petals - I asked if I could move to the perfect table and they said "Since I came all the way from New Jersey they would make it happen". Our waiter was amazing, food was amazing, loved the restaurant overall! Only negative was the total jerk practically yelling about how much money he made and being rude to the waiter at the table next to us - no fault of Bouchon. Would absolutely eat there again!"

  • "Food was great but service not attentive. Ordered special app for 2 but it was forgotten. Waiter & runner not in sync. Ordered a Pinot waited for several minutes. Waiter came by table & dropped the wine list and said she couldn't find it & asked me to pick it out but then she ran off to another table. When she returned I pointed it out to her and she said I had asked for Merlot. I had not and my date said so. She just seemed to be distracted with decanting wine for another table to pay close attention to us. Food flavor and presentation was great. I have been here before and I know there service to usually be very good so would still go again. After so many mistakes I would have thought they would have wanted to offer something."

  • "We celebrated our friends 25th wedding anniversary and it was a romantic touch for them to put a few rose petals on the table in front of them. They smelled lovely and it set a theme for the night- the smells coming from the open kitchen were wonderful. The crab cakes appetizer and the scallops prepared 3 ways were outstanding. I had salmon on polenta that melted in my mouth. Our whole party enjoyed being able to have wine that could change with each course as they serve so many wines by the glass. The chocolate lava cake was sinfully rich and the creme brûlée was classic and excellent tasting."

  • "This is our favorite special occasion restaurant. We always love the food, & the service is always excellent. The chef is creative; the ingredients are fresh (produce from the SB Farmer's Market). Our waiter Hunter was so attentive and knowledgable, and helped us pick out the perfect wine (Samsara Pinot Noir. Wonderful. The wine list is amazing,) And while it's higher-priced than a more casual restaurant, it's still less expensive than the other 'fit for foodies' places we've been to (e.g. we've been stunned to see other restaurants serving $39 fish entrees; not only is Bouchon more reasonable, but no one matches their food.) The only caveat: we once ate in the "cork room" w/a group and it wasn't as much fun as the main restaurant."

  • "It is a small place, cozy and romantic. The servers are very attentive. The menu is based on local produce, and seafood. I had the special of the day black cod, with mustard sauce. It was excellent, the fish was well done, and the fig salad with Marcona almond had just the right amount of dressing, my husband had the scallop trio, another special of the day, it was also exceptional and fun, scallop prepared 3 ways. Overall recommend this place very highly if want a good meal and ambiance."

We selected the restaurant for the focus on local fresh foods & local wines combined with the description on the web site that insured great ambience. Our dinner was excellent but the greatest thing about Bouchon is the orchestration of the timing of the experience - we had a leisurely meal with lots of conversation and perfect timing between courses. They served seamlessly with little interruption of our conversation with friends we had not seen for awhile. Byron gave great suggestions and answered questions thoroughly so we all enjoyed our meals & the wine and a terrific dessert!"

  • "Overhyped this restaturant was highly recomended by hotel staff. The food served is french californian food focusing on local poduce and meats in this area. Ambience was nice and is well situated in downtown on the famous state street. Service was great but was busy that the server only had time to put our dishes on our table and thats it. No refills for water (sparkling) or wine had to be poured ourselves. Not typical in a classy restaurant. We ordered the venison and tuna dishes. Frankly the dishes were to healthy to be tasty. The tuna and meat was fresh and tasty. But the side dishes wer gross and not appetizing at all. Too healthy is just not very good tasting. I had to gag in my own mouth to swallow the food bc it was just to gross."

  • "Bouchon must labor much, at least for those coming from Northern California, under the need to distinguish itself from the other Bouchon -- but it does so in my opinion very well, emphasizing local wines and ingredients that, in Santa Barbara, are fairly distinguishable from what's availalable up Napa-Sonoma way. The scallop flight appetizer, and the salad Lyonnaise, were rich and perfectly suited for splitting. The salmon was tasty and fresh. And the chocolate chip bread pudding was comforting and satisfying. A really nice date night out for parents or tourists, both of which we were."
