the concept Fresh, local ingredients, prepared with care. Excellent wines that reflect the quality and character of our region and work in concert with the cuisine. Warm, inviting ambiance, service at a relaxed, leisurely pace. the food Santa Barbara ‘Wine Country Cuisine’ means we source our ingredients using an ‘as-fresh-and-as-local-as-possible’ approach, with fish from the Santa Barbara Channel and produce from the surrounding countryside. We then take into account how these flavors can be presented in concert with our local wines. I believe you’ll taste the difference and see how well they work together. the wine We believe Santa Barbara is producing some of the finest Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Other locally produced varietals will surprise you with their quality, variety and approachability.   • "Bouchon's food preparation was incredible. The menu definitely had it's limits, though. If, for instance, you are not a big fan of pork products you have to ask to alter the recipe or eliminate a number of otherwise attractive options. The portions are actually meal-sized which allows you to leave feeling like you have had dinner, versus just a tasting. The service was amazing. The waiter was knowledgeable without any air of superiority when it came to sharing his understanding of food and it's wine pairings. Tastings of the wines were offered prior to committing yourself. The servers, however, are coached to give you too much unsolicited information. Nevertheless, they visited the table and asked the right questions just enough."

  • "I had asked a few friends to recommend a nice restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Each of them gave me a short list of recommendations and Bouchon was on all of them. The menu had a nice variety to choose from and the waiter was very helpful. My husband has some food allergies and restrictions and the chef was able to alter the dishes to accommodate his needs. They happily split an appetizer, making it easy to share and when my husband had an extra course, the waiter brought me an extra little something so that I didn't "feel left out". A very nice touch. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious! Bouchon is an excellent place for a special occasion, it's a bit pricey for an everyday dinner."

  • "I am picky when it comes to service when a restaurant is charging good money and has a good reputatation. I found the service average at best. I had to ask to have my water glass filled. And this wasn't a drought issue thank you. They seemed confused with my dessert order. It was my birthday. The waiters were constantly hovering in one area instead of dispersing and checking peoples tables. For food, my lamb was good but what it came with average. Also they seemed anxious to clear my plate off when I was clearly still eating. Presentation was nothing extraordinary. I had a lovely time because I was with my boyfriend & it was my birthday, but I wouldn't recommend it. Restaurant is overrated. Definately confused feeling for this small place."

  • "We had 8 women in our party, visiting from Atlanta, Houston and New York for a bachelorette party weekend. We were seated at a round table in the outdoor portion of the restaurant. The staff were very attentive, kept our wine and water glasses full constantly, accommodated all our requests, and put up with how loud we were. We lingered a while after we finished dinner and the staff even helped us getting a limo to drive us around the rest of the night. We absolutely loved the food, and will highly recommend it to others visiting Santa Barbara."

  • "Unfortunately, Bouchon failed to deliver food quality and service. My first outing with Bouchon's Santa Barbara location proved to be a disaster for my birthday dinner. Two of my friends decided to take me out for dinner at Bouchon and in the reservation, I did state that the dinner was celebrating my birthday. None of the employees acknowledged my birthday nor did they remotely care about how the food tasted. The waiter did not ask how enjoyed my three appetizers. The only time he asked was after the entrees were finished. Crab cakes were mushy in texture and lacked flavour. Peach salad also lacked flavour and the grilled peaches were rather small. The cheese tart contained an extremely thick crust with very little cheese!"

My husband ordered the herb-crusted yellowfin tuna and I had the grilled venison medallions; both were mouth-watering! We finished it off with their blueberry-lemon upside-down cake, which was excellent! Tony was our waiter and he was superb! He was extremely attentive and very knowledgable on the wine. The owner was very friendly and made sure we had a great dining experience. There was always someone there to pour our wine, refill our water, take away plates, and their timing was always perfect. We've been to a lot of restaurants that were more costly than Bouchon and the food and dining experience weren't as great. Highly recommend!!!"

I think the only time you'll get a delay in service if there is a high maintenance customer who's impossible to please. And even then, someone on the serving staff will notice and take care of you. Great teamwork. Excellent & uncomplicated food. If you'd like to treat yourself to a fine dining experience while in SB, and this is one of the few places you can go that is 5-star in my opinion."

  • "This restaurant was recommended by the B&B where we were staying. It is a wonderful small and interesting, charmiing, bistro-like place. We sat outside and enjoyed a marvellous dinner. The salmon with a crusty skin was delicious and my husband had the rack of lamb, which he really liked. Our waiter was excellent and we especially enjoyed the extensive wine list, though it was a bit pricey. We will be coming back soon when we travel to Santa Barbara agail Joan and Peter"

  • "The food was delicious. The French onion soup was great. I had the wagu filet and my boyfriend had the porkchop. Both were moist and well seasoned. They wished "happy birthday" to my boyfriend as soon as we checked in and then when we are seated. :) Unfortunately, my bf had to point out one thing that was not perfect...both merlot and pinot were poured into the same type of merlot wine glasses. He sort of expect that from a nice restaurant. Other than that, service was wonderful. I definitely would come back!"

  • "We had a party of 8 with diverse tastes and we all found wonderful options on the menu. Our food was fantastic from the trio of scallops (it is an appetizer for two but made a wonderful lite entree for one) to the duck, black cod, salmon, and chicken that we tried. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. Our appetizers were delicious as well. The pickeled ramp and asparagus soup (a daily special) was delicious. The wait staff were attentive and discreet. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal - the atmosphere, the food, and the service were all impeccable."
