Bouchard Restaurant and InnWorth the tripMy wife and I have celebrated our anniversary here on two occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. We drive up from the NY metro area and it is well-worth the trip.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBouchard RestaurantThe food was delicious! Our waiter was attentive and explained the menu to us in a way that didn't make us feel uncomfortable. I will recommend Bouchard to family , friends and anyone visiting the Newport area. The price was reasonable compared to NYC.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMa special eveningeveryone catered to our needs as we had an infant with us. the cuisine was first class and the chef modified a dish to satisfy our request. the owner/hostess even watched the baby while we ate. the veal chop with morels was great. as was the stuffed lobster and the soufflé.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best Newport has to offer !!!Outstanding in EVERY WAY !!!!!
There was not 1 thing that could have been done better. The best Cosmo I have ever had as well. The food , unsurpassed !!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BestWe love this restaurant. The food is the best we have ever had and the service is equal. It is a gem. The wait service is professional, yet warm, friendly and knowlegeable.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Perfect Anniversary DinnerMy husband and I decided to take a long weekend in Newport, RI to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We certainly chose the perfect dining destination. We enjoyed a wonderful haddock with lobster sauce and wonderful salads to start....the beet was especially delicious. We are so glad we ordered the gran marnier soufflé upon arrival. It was, simply stated, PERFECT. The restaurant knew it was our anniversary and surprised us with flutes of champagne after our meal. Bouchard will be part of our special memories.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! The Bouchard wasExcellent! The Bouchard was worth the walk from our hotel in downtown Newport! Service was relaxed and attentive (Alex), timing was right on the order of the food without feeling rushed or neglected. I had the filet of beef with the demi glace which was prepared perfectly! Being from Chicago and having fine dining available, this is a great part of the Newport experience!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely fabulous! This is a special occasion restaurant for us-intimate, reasonably quiet, the best of everything This time I enjoyed the very memorable roasted re stuffed lobster-one of the best dishes I've ever had. My husband was equally as happy with his filet with Brie and an incredible sauce.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food in NewportWow! What a meal. Right up there with the top restaurants in any big city. They didn't miss a beat from start to finish. Highly recommended!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!!We had a wonderful evening at Bouchard. The food was totally delicious and the ambience very nice...quiet and romantic!! The staff were welcoming ad wonderful...YUM!! We'd go back in a minute!!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent French cuisineGreat restaurant. A little hard to find due to absolutely no signage. But worth the hunt nonetheless6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW!!! Rivals the best.We have been to Newport many times, and Bouchard's was a new spectacular find for us. A small hidden away gem. Everything beat our expectations - the menu was interesting, the food was beyond delicious, the service was outstanding and the ambiance is quiet/ elegant. Coming from Boston, but often a visitor to NYC, I would say that the service at Bouchard's beat anything in Boston and rivaled the best of NYC - the only thing we noticed about the service was that it was so good.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best! One of my favorite restaurants, and a must for dinner when we stay in Newport!!! Fine dining restaurant with quaint atmosphere and prices to match, but worth every penny. Every dish is consistently phenomenal from the appetizer to entree to dessert. You really can't go wrong. Service is always friendly and welcoming. Fantastic dining experience!!!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a delightful experienceWe have been here several times and they never fail to please. From the fois gras to the sea bass stuffed with fois gras to the delicious sweetbreads and grand marnier desserts your palate will be singing. The service is efficient, professional , and friendly without being cloying. The wine list is varied and offers something for all palates, and at reasonable mark ups.
This is a place where you will look forward to returning with great anticipation. The only complaint: we don't live closer so we could visit more often.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove, Love, LoveA must!! So much better than Talullah's on Thames. I think it's the best restaurant in all of Newport!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic meal and service...Pretty sure this is my first 5 star review on open table. We had a great meal. The Escargot ravioli and Homard et St. Jacques Cardinal Gratinée were both excellent. Filet of beef was very tender and tasty. Service was also excellent. Only complaint...the beat salad was miniscule. We would not hesitate to return.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSome of the best food we'veSome of the best food we've ever had with beautiful presentation! The service was remarkable in generally excellent surroundings. Parking, though, is only on-street & difficult to find. We requested a table that did not seem like it was in a hallway & then a speaker was directly behind my chair at our table in the corner. If returning, I would request specific seating when making the reservation.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best Restaurant in NewportWe had the best meal at this restaurant since eating at a Michelin 2 starred restaurant in Lyon, France. The food is beautifully prepared, service warm but very professional, ambiance elegant yet relaxed. Recommend the Duck and the Lamb and of course the perfection of Grand Marnier Soufffle with creme anglaise for dessert.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOur romantic dinner was spectacularIt was our anniversary and Bouchard came highly recommended from or friends who visit Newport throughout the year. The food waswonderful and the souffle amazing! Bouchard is a must eat at place when stressing in Newport.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSomewhat stuffy but overall goodWe had a nice meal here but felt the atmosphere of the restaurant was too stuffy/formal for our taste - waiters in black tie, heavy drapery and decorative teacups along the walls, etc.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great dining experienceWe were in Newport for a long weekend recently. I can't believe we have never been to Bouchard. It is on far end of Thames st.
Nice walk from down town with plenty of shops to stop in on way out to restaurant.
. Made our reservations thru Open table for Saturday night. We had the fish specials which were lovely. We also had appetizers that were recommended by our server. We did wait a long time for our main entree to arrive and did continue to ask our server. We waited for about 30 minutes. The owner came over later and brought us champagne as apology for our long wait. The kitchen was backed up and the restaurant was full.
The place had a nice energy and feel. We will be back.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food; wine service OKParty of three, each of our appetizers and entrees were excellant, as was a souffle which we split. Of course ingrediants were outstanding but it seemed that the saucing selections always contributed a "pop" with the first tastes, markedly elevating each offering. Special note to the lobster bisque, which was both light in the mouth (for a bisque), but with exceptional extract and depth of flavor. Service and seating was prompt; wine service was not. Bottle with appetizer didn't receive a second pouring until after all three appetizers were completed. We intervened on the bottle with the entree and made the second pouring ourselves as we finished our entrees. We were there on a busy Saturday night.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for an upscale night outEating at Bouchard was a dining event. The menu was expansive and everything we tasted was perfect, save for a disappointing Lobster Bisque. Friendly and attentive service, great wine recommendation. The kind of tuxedo-clad, perfect wait-people you'd expect from an upscale restaurant. I will absolutely go back the next time I'm in Newport.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem !Bouchard's was one of the finest restaurants I have ever been to. Ambiance, food and service were extraordinary. Since I am not a fan of French cuisine, I thought I'd try Bouchard's based on previous reviews and my curiosity. The meal was exceptional. We enjoyed Beef Wellington and Veal Oscar. One "foodie" in our party is gluten intolerant and carefully inquires about menu limitations. Not wanting to disappoint, our waiter told him that could enjoy almost everything. He thoroughly enjoyed the meal as did we all. Make sure you leave room for the Soufflé for desert.
Service was first rate and the pace of the meal was just right. When traveling to Newport, dining at Bouchard's is a must.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA very nice experience but...To start, I have dined in countless places over the years and the service here was second to none...outstanding! However, among our table, the food was all over the map in terms of rating, from 2.5 to 5 stars, so I guess its all in what you order. Thus, I have never been so ambivalent in my review of a high end restaurant.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience! We love good French food and we travel a lot! This was possibly the best restaurant ever! Been to a great Williamsburg French restaurant several times but Bouchard was better.
Pate fois gras was extraordinary. Our friends are very picky eaters and not gourmands but they found everything to be superb as well.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulRomantic restaurant with exquisite food.
It was difficult to chose an entree, they all looked delicious.
I have to return to try them all.
I had their signature lobster dish. It was delicious and the presentation was beautiful.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic French - great chef! The chef is better than wonderful. His food is traditional French cuisine with a modern twist. Coffee crusted duck? Delicious! Fois gras? Unbelievable! It's not cheap but it is worth every penny if you are a foodie or celebrating a special occasion. My only complaint is the $3 charge for sharing an appetizer.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingDelicious meal excellent service fine quality
Recommend highly5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Newport gemFood was great as was the service. This is definitely one of the better places to eat in the area if you care about good food. Service is professional and not too fussy. Will definitely eat here again.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply amazing! We dined at Bouchard for my 50th Birthday and it was everything i had hoped it would be! The service was impeccable ... friendly, professional but not stuffy! The food was divine! The Dover sole melted in your mouth as did the special stripped sea bass. Our appetizers , the escargot ravioli and the Tomato Tarte were delicious. Of course the evening wouldn't be complete without the Grand Marnier souffle! A wonderful evening!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great dinner celebration! Our second time celebrating my fiancée's birthday here! Amazing food, service and atmosphere! The owner Lisa is a real sweetheart! Can't want to go back next year!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMJust about perfectAfter moments of fleeting concern upon arriving (the host ignored us while handling a frenzied phone call) and being seated (no one showed up at the table for a long three minutes), things quickly moved into excellence mode once our waiter took charge and a magnificent dinner got underway. This was a superb meal in all respects, from the superb quality of the food, to the relaxed but elegant service, to the old-fashioned dining room setting. Bouchard is worth a trip to Newport. We also dined at Castle Hill on this trip, and Bouchard is much, much better at all levels other than (arguably) Castle Hill's views. I'll be back to this establishment as often as possible.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNo question this is one ofNo question this is one of the very best dining experiences in Newport. We visit the area once a year and this has been on our must
list each time. Great for a special occasion or the once a year indulgence. Enjoy!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best restaurant in RISeating was timely, the atomosphere was formal without being pretentious, the waiter (actually all the staff) was attentive, informed, and fun to interact with during the meal. Each element of the meal, from the starters to the meals and through dessert and coffee was worthy of a conversation of its own.
Adding to the ambiance was the walk to the restaurant. It was a pleasant night and the streets were filled with people of all ages and nationalities.
If asked what we were hoping for the evening, we couldn't have described something this good.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe warm and attentive serviceThe warm and attentive service was matched by the perfectly prepared food. I particularly recommend the lamb, a meaty cut cooked exactly to order. Pricey but worth it!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible MealThe meal was incredible, and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend the Escargot Ravioli. They did a great job making our anniversary extra special.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Restaurant on the East Coast!Once again a fabulous dining experience. Escargot ravioli are amazing! I had a salad and 3 portions for dinner!!! Wait staff are excellent, warm and welcoming, and make great suggestions to enhance our dining pleasure. Thank you for a wonderful Mothers Day for my family and me.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNewport's FinestIf you want the absolute BEST restaurant in Newport, go to Restaurant Bouchard. Everything about the experience is TOP NOTCH. The menu is varied, the presentation is gorgeous, and the food is even better to eat than it is to look at. The service harks back to the golden age when servers were discreet and knowledgeable, pleasant (charming even) without being intrusive. Our waiter helped us to select a very reasonably priced wine that perfectly complemented my companion's salmon en croute and my lamb chops. The sauteed foix gras appetizer is to die for as is the vanilla bean Grand Marnier souffle for dessert.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNewToNewportMy wife and I went to Newport for our wedding anniversary. Restaurant Bouchard came highly recommended and deservedly so. Using Open Table was easy (our first time using the website). We were expecting a nice French restaurant and that's what you get. Great food, great service, great wine in a relaxed atmosphere. Did I say we had great food? Can't say enough great things about the experience. We will return, for sure. Try the soufflé.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSouffle!Best Grand Marnier Souffles with Crème Anglaise.
I come here every year I am in town.
Had a lovely Birthday dinner with my Love.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorites !I have dined here before and nothing has changed - it is exceptional !
Service is impeccable and the food in incredible - but don't forget to order the special deserts!
I will return ...5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceThe food, service and ambience were all superb! I great spot for a romantice dinner or special occasion.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the moneyGreat food, service and ambience. Totally pleased.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding French FindCharming quaint little candlelit house gives off a warm and inviting feeling. White linens with rouge velvet chairs give a wonderful French flair. Wait staff is very pleasant, professional in black tie, and make you feel welcome and special. The signature starter Asparagus and Lobster Puff Pastry was absolutely perfect, asparagus had a lovely crunch against the lightly layered pastry. Excellent restuffed Lobster. The split fee was well worth it. This delicious dish was a delight to look at also. The Grand Marnier soufflé ordered rising high above the dish was broken and drizzled in creamy sauce. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. If you want to make your girl feel special, by all means take her here!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable ExperienceI wanted to find an outstanding restaurant to take my mother to for her Birthday. I went on line and typed in Top Restaurants in Ct. To my dismay most of them were at least 2 hours away from me so I typed in Rhode Island and The Bouchard came up. A day in Newport and dinner sounded perfect! I booked my reservation and waited in anticipation for the big day! The big day arrived and my mother and I enjoyed shopping for hours and then we finally went for dinner.... We were very pleased with the staff and service! They treated us like a pair of queens! The food was absolutely delicious and at the end they gave us complimentary flutes of champagne!!! Best birthday for my mother ever!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and service.Amazing food and service. The cod was the best ever. Try the tomato tart, Dover sole and for desert, the apple tart .5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways exceeds expectations! It is always amazing to me how Bouchards can continually raise the bar on good food, good ambience, good value and just all around good hospitality. It is obvious that the owners are ever present and ever involved! I wish them continued "bonne chance"5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Dining and ServiceWe loved the Bouchard Restaurant. We ate there on May3 and had one of the best meals we've had. As we've traveled a lot in the US and Europe, this is a real compliment. I had a wonderful swordfish entree and a delightful Caesar seafood salad. The Grand Marnier souffle was exquisite--don't miss it. (You need to place the order early as it takes a while to prepare.) The waiter recommended a white wine that went very well with the food. At $43 a bottle, it was also good value. My husband loved his food as well. Lovely service. (The wife serves as a welcoming host while the husband is the chef--great combination.) You can get a parking pass for a nearby church parking lot only a few steps from the restaurant.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!!!Food was unforgettably delicious!!! We had the cod specials - yummy and generous portion. Lobster and asparagus appetizer excellent. Will return next trip to Newport.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
