  • "Took two friends from Bristol to Bouchard's for their very first visit and they (and we) were thrilled! The food was absolutely superb, just as it is every time. Their consistency is incredible. Two of us had the rack of lamb; it was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The cod was also a hit with one of our party, while the pate left the table quiet while we enjoyed. The service was definitely level 5 stars, but I took off one star because we had a very long wait for our entres. Despite that, the quality of the service close to made up for that, and it's one of the few times I've had that issue in all the years I've gone there."

  • "The restaurant is small and tables are close together, but still feels intimate, noise level is low. The staff is attentive. The food was wonderful, the wild mushroom appetizer was delicate yet intense with flavor and creaminess. We had four in our party, all ordered the lamb chops , we agreed they were delicious , seasoned perfectly. The accompaniment of potatoes were tasty and velvety, however the portion could have been larger. Overall , It was a great dining experience. Lastly parking was available, an important feature in Newport. Will come back and recommend ."

  • "Old world meets new world. We started with lobster bisque & lobster with asparagus in puff pastry. Then our entrees were restuffed lobster with scallops (and magic, I think) and the special of fresh caught cod a la oscar (topped with crab). We ended with a shared soufflé. Every mouthful was absolutely delicious. The wine list is extensive, too. Our waiter was super attentive, but never hovered. He sensed what we needed before we asked. This is definitely one of the top 5 places we've ever eaten, here or abroad. It is a bit expensive, but worth it. We cannot recommend this beautiful restaurant enough. If we ever find ourselves in Newport again we will come back."

  • "My three girlfriends and I were staying the night in Jamestown but we decided to have dinner in a Newport and I picked Bouchard because it was ranked number one on Trip Advisor. I have never bothered to write a review but I always read them. Because our experience was so remarkable from start to finish, I decided to share with others that the ranking is well deserved. The service was exceptional (our server was Max) and everything brought to the table was delicious. Even the rolls and the side salad were yummy. I ordered the cod special. We split the soufflé and profiteroles - fantastic! I'd recommend this for a special dining experience - it was pricey but we got what we paid for!"

  • "We came here for a romantic dinner. We came early so it was not crowded when we arrived but the place is not huge and by the time we left it was certainly noisier but not loud. That is my only complaint. The food was exceptional and we were doted on by the staff. Nice wine list but not huge. Prices are a little steep but you come here expecting that."

  • "Last Friday we were in Newport for one night. A friend suggested Bouchard for a superb French dinner. What a delicious experience we had. Max as our server enhanced our evening with his personality, menu suggestions and timing. The scallops I enjoyed were fabulous as were my husband's escargot ravioli and duck. Portions and presentation were exceptional for a fine dining restaurant. The sauces for our dishes were also special. The Grand Marnier soufflé topped off our wonderful dinner. A dress code of "business casual" is reasonable for an elegant place where Max sports a tuxedo. N'est ce pas? C'est magnifique. Merci, Chef Bouchard."

It was a great start to a wonderful evening and a culinary adventure that tantalized our taste buds for two hours! The tuna tartare was exquisite and the pate was a show stopper! It was the best we have had! My son-in-law raved about the escargot raviolis! The duck, pork tenderloin and veal chop were perfectly prepared and accompanied by magnificent sauces! The evening ended with wonderful desserts (the raspberry sorbet was outstanding). And the restaurant even delivered complimentary glasses of champagne for the perfect toast to a fabulous evening. Service was spectacular! Don't miss this restaurant!"

Food was dull, In particular the vol au vent was poorly executed with tough pastry and stringy lobster. Dover sole was ok over sauced. My husbands lobster bisque was good and his pork tenderloin ok. I was I'll shortly after dining there. So many great choices in Newport this pretentious spot is a pass."

  • "The food at Bouchard is outstanding. Everything that came out of the kitchen was simply perfect, and on Valentine's Night that isn't easy. Hands down the best Bouef Wellington I've ever had! The service was good but not great. The waiter did not seem all that enthusiastic but was efficient, at least, and certainly did not detract from the evening. The wine list is limited with mostly lower end selections but with a higher mark up (watch that). All in all though a good value for the meal. In the end...a very nice place and I'd go back."
