  • "Our evening started out great upon getting to the restaurant for a 9:15pm reservation. Hostess and bartender were great. Food was great. However, when your service is bad it really doesn't matter where you are it overtakes the good. As best we could tell our waiter had 3 tables going. Our party of two and one other party of 2. The party of 8 table he had is where he spent all of his time. At times we weren't sure he even remembered we were there and would walk by us as if we were invisible. Unfortunately, going back to that restaurant, which is supposed to be in the higher end of quality, would not be a risk I would take. In this area there are way too many choices that you can be assured great food and great service."

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant. They are masters at their craft. The pesce crudo (ahi two ways) was delicious, and the rack of lamb was superb. We also had a number of pasta dishes that were outstanding. The service was very friendly. Definitely a great place, in a town with lots of solid choices."

  • "Bottega did not live up to the expectations that we had for it. Our server was very busy, in fact she may have been the only server on the patio. The patio was very nice as was the ambiance. Our appetizers were very good, much better than our entree. The polenta under glass was superb and the calamari was very tender. Our entrees were forgettable. We did not have dessert. The food was not bad but it was not special like we had hoped. There are many other memorable restaurants nearby and Bottega was simply a disappointment."

  • "This restaurant is very popular, hard to get reservation & then inflexible (since reservations dept is NOT onsite, so they can't view the restaurant Waiting/dining back up, they can't offer you much time change once confirmed. Ambiance is great, food is good, but over priced. The wine is ESPECIALLY over priced. The LEAST expensive glass of Cabernet is $26.00...really??? We love you Michael, but you need to have some Napa Cabs in the $15 range for repeat customers...Chardonnay too...You are in Napa, not Italy, so please feature the local wines at AN AFFORDABLE PRICE."

  • "Setting aside the fact that my perky-toe crab pasta entree was a little dry, I thoroughly enjoyed my brussel sprout starter and my companion enjoyed his salad and chicken. This was my second visit to the restaurant and I have to say it is a favorite. Of course, what's not to love about Yountville? Also, the indoor-outdoor setting at Bottega is charming. The service is outstanding. The sommelier recommended an amazing white which I thoroughly enjoyed and will effort to acquire! Bottega, in my opinion, is well worth the hour+ drive it takes me to get there."

The room was rather loud, the tables so close conversations were not private, and the hustle and bustle of the wait-staff electrified the room negatively. No doubt, this is a busy, busy, busy place---we would prefer a more quiet, thoughtful, and attentive environment and staff."

  • "We visited Bottega for lunch and had an amazing meal. We sat outside in the large patio area. It was quite hot out that day, but they had fans going and it kept a comfortable breeze. I thought it was a bit odd that they don't sell wine by the glass, just the larger portion "quartino", which I was told was about a glass and a half. The Zinfindel that I selected was from the Chiarello winery and was quite pricey at $22 but was very good and I enjoyed it. The shaved brussel sprout salad was wonderful, as was the ravioli my husband ordered and the pasta with crab and peas that I enjoyed. We ended with a tiramisu that was creative and tasty. If you're in Napa, I would highly recommend dining at Bottega!"

  • "Loved this place. Service was excellent, food amazing, ambience gorgeous. Started with a fabulous cocktail with vodka and lime and pomengrante with some kind of chili kick. Delicious and refreshing. I had appetizer of brussel sprout salad which was very good. My friend, however, had the wood grilled octopus salad and it was to die for...kept fork fighting over his! I had lamb chops with polenta and it was amazing....lamb was melt in mouth tender...polenta was the creamiest I've ever had. Delicious. My friend had the risotto special which was wrapped in prosciutto..I'm not a big risotto fan but it was amazing. Overall, I would come back in a heartbeat!!!"

  • "Loved our leisurely lunch at Bottega! The high points of the meal were a salumi y fromagio appetizer, a dish of seafood in "crazy water", and a pork shoulder with plums. Lots of surprising elements that enhanced the dishes: raisins that were sun-dried on the vine, a delicate seafood broth with tiny tomatoes the size of plump blueberries a hint of tarragon and subtle spice, a rich, smokey sauce with the pork, etc. From the looks and aromas of others dishes being carried to other tables, there was a lot more to enjoy from the menu. A weekday, late lunch, is ideal. We were told that weekend days and nights can be very hectic."

Our waiter was very busy, as a matter of fact so busy that we felt a bit abandoned. Wine list was great, food was very good but we poured our own wine and almost went to the kitchen to get our food!"

  • "As indicated on the reservation, my husbands has a severe onion allergy. The waiter seemed to have only just learned this and had not prepared ahead of time. We then went through the long, embarrassing process of being told, very slowly, as each entrée, etc. was selected that he would have to check with the kitchen, after a long wait only to say "no" to this one and then that one, etc. After many trips back and forth, my husband ordered a fish which was going to be "modified preparation". What finally arrived was a dry, grilled fish with not even a lemon wedge and no effort at all to make it a nice meal. We know that allergies are a problem, which is why it is noted before arrival. Disappointing for a big name chef and it's foodie diner."

  • "My friend and I had eaten here last year and had come back to Napa earlier this week with two friends. We were so excited to take them to Bottega ans kept raving about the restaurant and the food. Unfortunately we were very, very disappointed. Our waiter was subpar to say the least: very unattentive. He got part of our order wrong and it took him 15 minutes to come apologize about it, our drinks took forever to come to the table (in fact our side of fries came before the drinks and appetizers), and when we were divvying up the check (some were paying with cards, others cash he asked that's not my tip is it? When I responded no he said okay good. After we gave him our cards and signed it he came to pick them up before we left."

  • "Reputation is no substitute for bad food. We were 6 and ordered different plates, none of them noticeable. The service was bad. We were missing some ustencils and asked 3 times but we eventually had to steel from other tables. Water was a scare resource in this restaurant and we had to share 4 slices of bred among the 6 of us. The prices are high and not proportional to anything. I would recommend to avoid this restaurant."

  • "On our final night in Napa celebrating our 25th ... Sat outdoors then the flies overtook us in plague-like fashion. Waiter was semi-apologetic. Asked for manager after our meal, finally giving up after nonstop onslaught. He reluctantly comped our meal. Never experienced this from flies ... Ever. Not sure Bottega has its act together on this issue."

  • "Made a reservation at Bottega 3 weeks in advance, because it is always crowded.....and when you go, you'll know why. The food is excellent, the service is tops and the whole restaurant hums with people. We left around 10 pm and the place was still full and more people being seated. We ordered 3 dishes to share..... a yummy salad, charcuterie plate and rack of lamb...all were superb. I noticed that all the tables around us were sharing orders.....definitely the most interesting way to dine. Recommend this wonderful restaurant!"

  • "The glowing reviews about the food here are spot on - it's nothing short of fantastic. However, the service was horrible, and unfortunately, I have several friends who have dined there that have said the same thing. The waiters were slow, unresponsive to multiple requests for things like additional cocktails and water, and were generally disinterested in ensuring a good dining experience. If you're okay with poor service, the food really is delicious. I suppose it's just a choice about what you're willing to put up with."

The bar area was very noisy. We didn't venture into the main restaurant area. Our meals were very good and our waiter was very attentive and friendly."
