A word from Bottega Napa Valley
Chef Michael Chiarello has returned to his culinary roots by creating seasonal farm-to-table Italian cuisine reflecting the bold flavors of Chiarello’s heritage in his signature style 1st made famous at Tra Vigne in the 90’s. An award winning chef/vintner & Food Network host, Chiarello celebrates his Italian roots and the Napa Valley with a menu echoing his long practice of using the finest locally/sustainably produced food. Located in Yountville, in the heart of the Napa Valley, Bottega’s extensive wine list represents hard-to-find favorites of the Valley and interesting Italian selections. Chiarello restored the integrity of an old 1800’s estate by uncovering beautiful hard wood floors, timber beams, old brick walls and windows. The inviting dining room is accented with reclaimed antiques, warm fabrics and eclectic light fixtures lending to the restaurant’s old world comfort.Continued

  • "Great food and vibe. Beautiful restaurant, and unique menue"

  • "All the food was great. Yes, it's pricey, but the portions are generous so you won't leave hungry. Loved the polenta under glass, risotto, tiramisu, and panna cotta the best! The outdoor seating area would've been great if not for the numerous flies."

  • "Best Iberico Pork ever eaten in my life and I had eaten a lot of them. The pork is so tender, juicy and melt in your mouth. The pig was fed acorn in highland of Spain their whole life! This is the best entree I have eaten in a very long time!"

  • "We had previously been to Bottega and loved it. We had horrible service this last visit and probably won't return :-( Our waiter was so disrespectful and just had NO time for us… My friend asked a question about a menu item and he said I'll get to that in a minute. I'm going to get your wine first??? Then when time came to order, she hesitated for a moment and he rudely stated to the table. She's obviously not ready - what do you want? Once ordered, our pasta arrived within minutes. Which means it must all be ready to go in large pots in the kitchen…and not prepared per table. We were a bit stunned by that. Seriously SO fast, it was like we were at a drive thru."

  • " As soon as we sat down and were given water and bread two flys set in on our bread and buzzed us all thru dinner. We ordered 2 "signature" dishes and an appetizer...the potato dough ravioli and the red wheat tagliarini bolognese. The ravioli was a big thick piece of dough with the yolk of a soft boiled egg and a very small dollop of ricotta. It was very dry. My husband got the red wheat tagliarini which amounted to a twisted chunk of spaghetti plopped in the middle of his plate. So while we tried to enjoy the ambience instead if the food we were constantly being dive bombed by flys landing on our drinks and food. I will concede that the service was very good."

  • "Bottega was featured on an episode of unique eats on the cooking channel. I had to check it out. The food was has expected, delicious and the ambiance was warm and inviting. I am already planning my trip back.."

  • "Seriosly, if you are going to be the best, you have to hire the best. Our waiter was about 70 years old and couldn't be bothered (said as much to us, actually) to really work. Took 20 mins before we could flag him down to give our orders, after which he disappeared. He recommended the gnocchi to our 10-year old, and said that iff she didn't like them, it's on the house. Well, guess what? She hated them and had to order a different pasta dish. Of course, charged for both, surprise, surprise! Took another 20 or 30 mins for him to get us 2 cups of tea. WTH? Seriously, Michael, you need better staff."

  • "This was our first meal at Bottega. We had expected something special. It was fine, but not special. In contrast, we (the same group of 4) had lunch the following day at Archetype, which was *spectacular* in every respect. No comparison between Bottega and Archetype - our experiences were in different leagues in terms of food, service, ambiance, overall enjoyment."

  • "One of the top restaurants in the entire Napa Valley"

  • "We were really excited to try Bottega after reading all the reviews and articles! I wouldn't say we were disappointed, but we were a little underwhelmed. The bread for the table was great- but the salad we ordered, Micheal's "Moms" salad, was just not good. The salad was wilted and really bitter. We didn't have a whole lots of options as vegetarians, but the potato dough ravioli and the zucchini lasagna we ordered was good- I just wasn't blown away but maybe that was my high expectations going into the dinner. The tiramisu on the other hand was delicious! Overall- great ambiance and service and it was a nice dinner."

  • "After a day of wineries we wanted a few cocktails and beer. The vodka pomegranate ice and spanked basil with lime was out of this world delicious! My boyfriend and I split the asparagus salad which was Rich and great dipping for the crunchy bread on the table. For entrees I devoured the duck which with the strawberry rhubarb sauce made my tastebuds sing. And my boyfriend had the bolognese which was perfectly sauced and cheese already tossed inside. Overall a fabulous meal in a very nice setting that was welcoming, unpretentious, and very reasonable for the quality food. Definitely try this place if you're visiting from out of town like we were."

  • "We had planned our first trip to Napa Valley months in advance and Bottega was on our list. After reading the reviews we were excited to try Bottega. Being big fans of Michael Chiarello our expectations were high and Bottega delivered. The polenta under a glass was absolutely delicious, my wife and I shared one and then I didn't want to share it after I took my first bite. Creamy smooth polenta topped with sauteed wild mushrooms, a game gravy to add as you pleased and a parmesan wafer. A taste of umami fully describes it. The ambiance of the restaurant was very soothing and romantic. We had the whole fish and seafood stew for dinner, both amazing. The restaurant was spotless and the landscaping was impeccable, as is all of Yountville."

  • "I thought this would have more of a Napa Ca farm to table flare. The menu was from March and not updated. for the summer. It was 103 degrees the day we went so it was very hot. My pomegranate basil drink was a great signature drink. ....the wood smoked octopus appetizer was great also."

  • "It was about our third visit to Bottega but our first outdoor experience . The patio has an orange fabric overhang that created a "tented " feel with soft muted light. Really comfortable!"

  • "We were seated promptly on arrival for our reservation. We were greeted immediately for drink orders. We have calamari for an appetizer, it was crispy and tender! My husband had the duck breast, which was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the veal bologanese immensely. Perfect portions and flavor! We will definitely return again."

  • "Definitely a place to stop in and experience. Try the Polenta under glass as an appetizer and Tiramisu Fantasia for dessert. Everything in between will be just a mouth-watering. Perfect from start to finish!"

  • "The kitchen seemed to have an off night. While the appetizers were very good, such as the excellent calamari and brussel sprout salad .the main dishes especially the farfalle with granchio(pasta with crab) came totally dry without any sauce and fell flat.At our request our waiter brought us a cup of the sauce which improved it.We are fans of Mr Chiarello but he may need to keep an eye on Bottega because based on previous visits it has slipped a bit ."

  • "We "dined" at Bottega on 6/30/14. The food was terribly disappointing. I had the farfalle with crab and it lacked any taste...it was like paste. the bolognese sauce was good but the pasta was 3 min shy of Al Dente. I ordered a glass of wine with my meal and it never arrived. Had this food been presented to Chef Michael Chiarello on the food network, he would have crucified the chef."

  • "Biiiiiig disappointment! Waaaay too hot in the restaurant and really pricey for just ok food. The wine and cocktail were the highlight."

  • "We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary!! We were treated so special by everyone! The food, the wine, the complementary champagne, the staff, and especially Chef Richard Phelps, were all first boat! 5 out of 5 stars! A night that truly will not be forgotten! Thank You All!"

  • "Bottega remains our favorite Napa restaurant for many reasons. Whether for lunch or dinner, the dishes are always delicious, perfectly prepared, and served with elegant efficiency. This visit was for lunch, and I started with my perennial favorite of Polenta Under Glass - very similar to a dish my grandmother from Italy used to make. My Insalata di Tonno was divine and my husband's skirt steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. I usually have wine here, but tried an interesting cocktail that had a ball of pomegranate ice in it. Quite refreshing! Every trip to Bottega has been delightful. Great food, reasonable prices, great service, lovely ambiance."

  • "We were here for our 10 year anniversary dinner. Everything was wonderful! Let them know in advance we were celebrating, and they had a special "Happy Anniversary" card on the table when we arrived. Food was wonderful, and our dessert plate had a special anniversary message on it as well! Would definitely return here!"

  • "We don't disagree. This resturant has a great reputation in the valley. However, the food was agverage and the waiter was odd."

  • "After a disappointing experience at Morimoto, we were not sure what to expect from Bottega. Surprisingly, we really liked the food. Ordered prosciutto, salami and cheese appetizer, risotto with prawns special and grilled skirt steak. Risotto was slightly too salty. My partner, who does not understand why people like cheese, really liked it. Service was slow/OK at best. Another party came 30 minutes later, claimed to be in a hurry, and got their food at lightning speed. They finished appetizers and entree and paid their check before we got our entrees. Another party got extra food they didn't order. Server was about to take it back, but a head server told him not to touch it after he set it down. Great service for those parties."

  • "We have been to this restaurant 3 or 4 times once or twice a year and it seems that as Micheal Chiarello moves on to new endeavors the signature dishes which made this place so great to come to have disappeared and the new dishes, while good, are not good enough to return over and over to have. They need to update the menu on the website so it reflects the dishes they actually serve. That being said the service is excellent and the atmosphere is the best. There is no place I would rather dine in Napa, on there patio, on a warm summer evening."

  • "we have had many meals at different times and never been disappointed. the wait staff is professional and listens closely to the customer We enjoy the food very much."

  • "Food ranged from subpar to very good. Service was lovely, and ambience was good but more appropriate for older generations."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Having visited Napa for the past 20 years, I have at some great places like Bouchon, French Laundry and many more. The food at Bottega was nothing more than average. The outside patio was just okay and the service was horrible with attitude! I will never go back and hope Management pays a little more attention to a party who spend $700 and receives bad food and service."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "The service was excellent. It was a birthday celebration, which my partner didn't want revealed. He was anticipating the wonderful chocolate souffle for dessert, which wasn't on the menu. I asked our server about it, and he said it was reserved for birthdays or larger groups. We got it and it paired deliciously with our wine! I ordered a lasagnette which wasn't quite what I expected based upon the menu description. It was tasty, but consisted of less pasta and was richer than I expected."

  • "Bottega is not just a place to get an amazing meal, but it is a whole dining experience. The waitstaff are some of the most knowledgeable and attentive I have ever experienced. And the food? Indescribable. The ricotta gnocchi are little pillows of heaven."
