A word from Bottega Napa Valley
Chef Michael Chiarello has returned to his culinary roots by creating seasonal farm-to-table Italian cuisine reflecting the bold flavors of Chiarello’s heritage in his signature style 1st made famous at Tra Vigne in the 90’s. An award winning chef/vintner & Food Network host, Chiarello celebrates his Italian roots and the Napa Valley with a menu echoing his long practice of using the finest locally/sustainably produced food. Located in Yountville, in the heart of the Napa Valley, Bottega’s extensive wine list represents hard-to-find favorites of the Valley and interesting Italian selections. Chiarello restored the integrity of an old 1800’s estate by uncovering beautiful hard wood floors, timber beams, old brick walls and windows. The inviting dining room is accented with reclaimed antiques, warm fabrics and eclectic light fixtures lending to the restaurant’s old world comfort.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Tables tight together beyond the comfort level.Undercooked pasta. Rough/ leathery pork shoulder. Chef agreed that it should not have been served. Dismissive waiter w/ poor teeth. The End"

  • "Great food. Knowledgeable and helpful waitstaff. Fantastic sommelier. Everything was perfect. I only regret that I did not try to stuff down some of the delicious looking desserts. The nice meal portions (not too big and not too small) left me happily sated. I had the Duck Confit, my wife had the Seafood Brodettto. Neither of us wanted to share. :) We did share the Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad as our starter which was both delicious and refreshing. The Sommelier recommended a reasonably price Italian wine that was quite tasty and I never would have found it on my own. I'll be back!"

  • "On our visit to San Francisco we spent a day driving to Napa. Bottega was recommended by my brother. It was the best restaurant experience during our entire trip to California. The ambiance, wine, service and food were excellent.. I will be back."

  • "Bottega has a big reputation to live up to; overall the service level was excellent, and our waitress very friendly and attentive. The food was certainly very good, though we were expecting a bit more creativity in the flavors with all the hype. It is also very noisy in the restaurant and the tables are somewhat awkwardly long for two which forces you to raise your voice when the dining really gets going. Overall, a positive experience."

  • "We went to Bottega expecting great food, wine, and ambience...I am happy to say we were NOT disappointed. We will return on our next trip to Yountville!"
    Dined on 4/2/2014
  • "Only complaint was that the food was a little under salted (and I barely use salt on anything). Otherwise we can't wait to return on our next trip to Frisco."

  • "My husband and I had been told Bottega was an amazing dinner restaurant so we had high expectations. We made reservations before hand, and were both looking forward to a nice romantic dinner. We were seated so close to two other couples that it was difficult to have a conversation. (The waitress had to pull the table out for me to even sit in the booth, and I'm a small person.) Unless you have a culinary background, the menu will be difficult to understand. So maybe look up what the items mean before you eat there. The service was great, and the food was alright- nothing too great. Maybe we had too high of expectations? But for an expensive meal, we were both disappointed."

  • "Service was good. Dinner was overpriced, ordered Lobster Cav....,,2 small pieces of lobster, with about 1 cup of pasta.., no soup, no salad. Price was $28, could have paid $10.00., get more for the money at Olive Garden. Dessert on the other hand was $10, chocolate donuts, small, but filled with hazelnut cream and honeysuckle dip., this was good. Asked for decaf coffee, got regular. Had a wonderful funny waiter."

  • "Delicious lunch on a fabulous spring day. Dined outside on the patio. The garden views, patio setting and atmosphere was lively yet, not too much. Very comfortable and classy. My guest hadn't been to the restaurant before and very much enjoyed our lunch."

  • "We had the best dining experience at Bottega. The food was the best we had during our entire stay in Napa. Will be returning!"

  • "For the past three years, my best friend and I have made an annual trip to spend a weekend in Napa and dine at Bottega. The food is amazing; there are always new dishes to try and old staples to revisit. I practically inhale the whole plate of truffle fries every time I'm there. Everything is incredibly fresh and the flavors are indescribable. The service is excellent as well; plates and debris are swept away swiftly, water glasses glasses never reach empty, and everyone is just so warm and friendly."

  • "Had a great dinner Monday night with my husband. I enjoyed a wonderful cocktail. Roman Kiss. It was like sticking my nose into my herb garden while sipping on the most sublime gin tonic with a fresh sprig of Rosemary. He had his regular Maker's Mark Old Fashioned which was made perfectly. Antipasti was a pate of pig trotter and Monterey calamari. Entrees were rack of lamb and I had whole Barzani fish. Very delicate. Dessert was a Meyer Lemon tort which was very decadent. Bottega never disappoints. One always feels feted and special. The wait staff were attentive and very knowledgeable."

  • "Having dined many times at BNP, while the food is still quite good, the service seems to me slipping quite a bit. Service staff on Saturday seemed unfamiliar with the preparation details, had to check on alcohol brand availability several times and overall did not engage our table of 6 like in the past. Really hope this was just an unusual off-night."

  • "I have been to Bottega several times and every time the inconsistency surprises me. Sometimes its way too salty, other times its so bland it has no flavor. For small groups the atmosphere is fine, for large, private groups not so much. I even had to send one item back as too salty to enjoy , surprising for a celebrity chef's restaurant. The service for our large group was completely impersonal. It was served family style and some dishes were served and we were never even told what they were. This last visit with a small group, we felt so rushed we had to even ask the staff to slow down when describing what they were offering. They even rushed our wine selection. Guys its Napa. $100 per person for lunch you shouldn't be rushed, EVER."

  • "We ate at bottega our last evening and it was simply impeccable. From the host who seated us to the waiter who's enthusiasm was contagious. The food was amazing. Right down to the Parmesan relish served with the bread. From appetizers to the Parmesan fries. Wow!!!! The hazelnut donuts were amazing."

  • "...frankly, the food was so good we immediately booked a second night in a row and brought the whole family along. Our AirBNB hot recommended the place - incredible!"

  • "Heard a lot about this restaurant and it did not disappoint! Amazing service, great looking restaurant, and the food was truly incredible. Everything was so creative and delicious. Made our first evening in Napa unforgettable."

  • "It was our first trip to Napa from NYC so we asked some foodie friends for recommendations. So glad they recommended Bottega Napa Valley. The interior is very well done and although this is a large restaurant, it still feels very personal. Best of all, the noise level is reasonable given its size. The food is both creative and delicious and we both truly enjoyed our dinner. Our next trip to Napa will include another dinner here."

  • "Quality food seasoned well. Nice wine selection. Service was good. Just can't give it a 10 as it wasn't as great as we had hoped or if you watch Chef Michael's shows, it sets a high bar that the restaurant didn't meet. I would eat there again tho."

  • "Service was very slow and unremarkable even though we went early and there were not many people there. The Polenta under Glass was truly outstanding. The lamb chops were good, but not OMGs, I have died and gone to Valhalla. My wife had the short ribs, which were very tender, but not very flavorful. Pricing was within expectations given the overall experience. I would not go back."

  • "I was in Napa Valley for four days and had dinner at four different highly-rated Yountville establishments. The food and service at Bottega was by far the best! If you only have an opportunity to eat at one place in Yountville, make it Bottega."

  • "We are here the last night of our anniversary trip. It was a fantastic way to end our vacation. Everything from the bread to dessert was on point. Our server was the sweetest and took great care of us. We had the calamari - served with an squid ink sauce. We also had the brussel sprout salad- the marcona almonds and Meyer lemon vinaigrette make it! The entrees were superb. Dessert: my mouth was so happy! I'm so glad the waitress told us about it. The portion sizes were perfect. All around a beautiful night. The only complaint I have was the bottom of the tables. They are so big there isn't a good place to put your feet in high heels...all I wanted to do was cross my legs AND sit close to the table. haha"

  • "We love Bottega. Everything that comes out of that kitchen is delicious. The only thing I can comment negatively on is that our server appeared to hate his life. But he still did his job. Just not with any personality at all."

  • "Had a chance to visit wine country with three teens in tow but since they are foodies they were fine with letting Mom and Dad taste as long as there was some great food involved. Bottega filled that billed and beyond. This was a key part of a perfect day in wine country."

  • "I choosed Bottega for an special celebration and I loved the ambience, service and specially the food, that was delicious. When I return to Napa Valley, for sure I will back to Bottega to experience a new gastronomic delight."

  • "As always the food is consistent and the service great. I love waiting at the fireplace and starting the night out with a glass of wine before going to my table."

  • "We had a very special lunch experience at Bottega. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, and all the staff were friendly & welcoming. I had the polenta in a jar and braised short ribs. Both were very tasty and wonderfully prepared. My friend had the brussels sprout salad and the asparagus risotto, and she also loved them both. We shared a refreshing, frozen ricotta desert with our cappuccinos. After lunch we shopped & walked around the lovely Yountville area. We would definitely recommend Bottega for a great dining experience., in beautiful Napa Valley."

  • "noodle with carbanara (sp) is too much for the dish"
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "We were a little disappointed after reading the great reviews. Braised short ribs were very good. The octopus was average at best and there weren't more than a few bites. Ambiance was just okay. Overall it was fine, but there are better choices in the area."

  • "I'm a big fan of Michael Chiarello and his show, Easy Entertaining. So when I'm organizing for my friend's birthday at napa, it's a no brainer to go to Bottega for lunch. The polenta in a jar was good. Grilled octopus was fair. The truffle fries was excellent and I can eat a whole order myself. My entree, which is the lobster with sea urchin pasta was quite disappointing. The lobster was cooked perfectly, but I didn't taste the sea urchin at all. The overall dish was very bland. One of my friend ordered the duck confit and it very dry. The other dishes my friends got were fine. The pork special they had was the best."

  • "The place is so hyped up that the food was disappointing. It did not live up to expectations. It was very noisy inside, and we could barely hear each other."

  • "The bar is set very high for food taste, presentation, and service here."

  • "I have been to this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed it. This time, however, we were seated inside the dining room near the kitchen for our lunch. It was a beautiful day outside, but the inside was dark and did not feel very warm. I ordered the risotto which was so hot it burned my tongue. I mentioned this to the server who cared not a bit. I suspect it had been sitting for quite some time. I will return to this restaurant again, but only if I can obtain a table outside or in the adjacent dining room, not the inner dining room."

  • "I love the ambiance of this restaurant and the outdoor seating is wonderful on a warm day. The bartenders here are very helpful and they have a great wine/cocktail list. We ordered some fun dishes (not too many are vegetarian) and the heirloom carrot salad was surprisingly well done! However, my main dish arrived with a huge black hair in it, the short scary kind. This happens, no doubt, but when i alerted the waiter, he immediately got quiet, took the dish away and never came back! it was almost like he was upset with us! The food is pretty good, the ambiance very good and the service meh."
