A word from Bottega Napa Valley
Chef Michael Chiarello has returned to his culinary roots by creating seasonal farm-to-table Italian cuisine reflecting the bold flavors of Chiarello’s heritage in his signature style 1st made famous at Tra Vigne in the 90’s. An award winning chef/vintner & Food Network host, Chiarello celebrates his Italian roots and the Napa Valley with a menu echoing his long practice of using the finest locally/sustainably produced food. Located in Yountville, in the heart of the Napa Valley, Bottega’s extensive wine list represents hard-to-find favorites of the Valley and interesting Italian selections. Chiarello restored the integrity of an old 1800’s estate by uncovering beautiful hard wood floors, timber beams, old brick walls and windows. The inviting dining room is accented with reclaimed antiques, warm fabrics and eclectic light fixtures lending to the restaurant’s old world comfort.Continued

  • "The food was really good, especially the Tuna appetizer and the polenta. Overall, we had a great time. Not an Epic experience, but we would certainly return."

  • "We went there for lunch and couldn't have been more pleased. The food was simply amazing and our server was a tremendous help. Our food was cooked to perfection! We will definitely be back to visit!"

  • "Reputation is no substitute for bad food. We were 6 and ordered different plates, none of them noticeable. The service was bad. We were missing some ustencils and asked 3 times but we eventually had to steel from other tables. Water was a scare resource in this restaurant and we had to share 4 slices of bred among the 6 of us. The prices are high and not proportional to anything. I would recommend to avoid this restaurant."

  • "I have eaten here twice, the food is always spectacular. Service is really good. A very high recommendations!"

  • "On our final night in Napa celebrating our 25th ... Sat outdoors then the flies overtook us in plague-like fashion. Waiter was semi-apologetic. Asked for manager after our meal, finally giving up after nonstop onslaught. He reluctantly comped our meal. Never experienced this from flies ... Ever. Not sure Bottega has its act together on this issue."

  • "Made a reservation at Bottega 3 weeks in advance, because it is always crowded.....and when you go, you'll know why. The food is excellent, the service is tops and the whole restaurant hums with people. We left around 10 pm and the place was still full and more people being seated. We ordered 3 dishes to share..... a yummy salad, charcuterie plate and rack of lamb...all were superb. I noticed that all the tables around us were sharing orders.....definitely the most interesting way to dine. Recommend this wonderful restaurant!"

  • "Disappointed. Food was bland and waiter was distracted. Pricey for the quality we had. There is a lot of competition in the area and this did not win a recommendation from us."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The venue was EXTREMELY NOISY, TAKING AWAY FROM THE AMBIENCE SIGNIFICANTLY. THE PORTIONS WERE INSULTINGLY MINISCULE AND AUDATIOUSLY OVERPRICED! You have to already be aware of this yet you continue to exploit the customer nonetheless. Shame on you! We won't be back and we definitely WON'T recommend Bottega's!"

  • "The glowing reviews about the food here are spot on - it's nothing short of fantastic. However, the service was horrible, and unfortunately, I have several friends who have dined there that have said the same thing. The waiters were slow, unresponsive to multiple requests for things like additional cocktails and water, and were generally disinterested in ensuring a good dining experience. If you're okay with poor service, the food really is delicious. I suppose it's just a choice about what you're willing to put up with."

  • "We are Napa residents and we have been to Bottega on several occasions and have had great food and service every time. We sat outdoors where it was quiet and pleasant. The bar area was very noisy. We didn't venture into the main restaurant area. Our meals were very good and our waiter was very attentive and friendly."

  • "This restaurant came highly recommended and it lived up to its reputation. Everything about it was five star. We will definitely be back!"

  • "The ambience is good though there was no room in the sunny room so we had to settle for the inside room which too dark."

  • "First time at the restaurant, arrived early for 8:45 reservation, sat at outside bar with a cocktail until seated (15 minutes late). Very noisy, ambience not what I expected. Food average at best. Had to send the pasta course back as it was undercooked. They re-plated for us and didn't charge for that course which I thought was fair. All in all I was expecting a much higher end experience and was quite disappointed. Won't be returning. I am a fan of chef Chiarello and his Napa Style products of which I have purchased which is why the experience was so disappointing."

  • "We loved the restaurant for a mid week dinner. Although our apps did not come at the same time, which was odd since my husband only got the asparagus app. which would be fairly easy to prepare. It was also not wrapped in Prosciutto, only had a piece of bacon served with it. Maybe they were out of Prosciutto. Our entree though was spectacular. I got the Bronzino, he got the 1/2 duck....which was so good I wish we could stay another night so I could order that. It was crispy and confit, absolutely perfect! So all in all we loved the meal."

  • "We shared a pasta plate, had dinners and dessert. All was good and our server seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. The only thing wrong with our dinner stay was the air conditioning wasn't working correctly in the area of the restaurant were we were seated. We didn't notice the heat at first but during dinner we kept getting hotter. When we got up to leave we noticed just a few steps away from our table the room seemed at least 20 degrees cooler. Then outside the restaurant it also was much cooler than were our table was. We were seated in front of the Glass enclosed room."

  • "The good was delicious and the waiter was great. We had limited time because we were wine tasting and he made sure that we had a great experience in a very short time."

  • "From the first to the last bite dinner was a sensory experience. Started with the Ahi appetizer, which was served 2 ways, and it was fresh, smooth, and flavorful. The main courses were cooked to order and presented stunningly. My husband ordered the Forno Roasted Whole Fish and it was flaky, delicate, and cooked to perfection. I ordered the Seafood Brodetto and the flavors just kept coming with every bite. The forgo-confit was spicy but not overpowering. The wine list was just the right size and my husband found a new gem. We were seated in a private cellar room overlooking the main dining room which allowed us to feel special and enjoy the company of our good friends. The service was impeccable and no detail left unturned."

  • "I'll admit that my expectations for dinner were really, really high and I was slightly disappointed for a little while. But thinking back on the night, I have come to the conclusion that I had a solid dinner, yummy drinks, and amazing company and what more can a person ask for. We had the calamari and grilled octopus for appetizers, prawns (pasta dish) and lamb for dinner, and a pear tart and donuts to finish the night out. Could it have been better? Of course, things can always be better. But it was solid and, if I'm ever back in Napa, I'd visit Bottega again without a problem."

  • "Bottega is a very good restaurant, with good food and very good service. The staff is very attentive and we were very rarely made to wait. The restaurant could get a bit noisy, however, it did not seem to be to bad when we were there. Bottega is recommended."

  • "This restaurant is an affordable gem in the best foodie town in the nation. Forget The French Laundry where you can never get a reservation, it's outrageously priced and you leave feeling like a stuffed pig. Bottega is the anti-laundry where the food is fresh, innovative, and priced right. You can order as little or as much as you like and everything is excellent. The bar is wonderful and the location divine. I especially love the grilled octopus salad. Michael Chiarello really knows his stuff."

  • "All the food was great. Yes, it's pricey, but the portions are generous so you won't leave hungry. Loved the polenta under glass, risotto, tiramisu, and panna cotta the best! The outdoor seating area would've been great if not for the numerous flies."

  • "The food was fantastic. My wife was upset she shared the polenta under the glass with me. The meal was equally as good."

  • "We had previously been to Bottega and loved it. We had horrible service this last visit and probably won't return :-( Our waiter was so disrespectful and just had NO time for us… My friend asked a question about a menu item and he said I'll get to that in a minute. I'm going to get your wine first??? Then when time came to order, she hesitated for a moment and he rudely stated to the table. She's obviously not ready - what do you want? Once ordered, our pasta arrived within minutes. Which means it must all be ready to go in large pots in the kitchen…and not prepared per table. We were a bit stunned by that. Seriously SO fast, it was like we were at a drive thru."

  • " As soon as we sat down and were given water and bread two flys set in on our bread and buzzed us all thru dinner. We ordered 2 "signature" dishes and an appetizer...the potato dough ravioli and the red wheat tagliarini bolognese. The ravioli was a big thick piece of dough with the yolk of a soft boiled egg and a very small dollop of ricotta. It was very dry. My husband got the red wheat tagliarini which amounted to a twisted chunk of spaghetti plopped in the middle of his plate. So while we tried to enjoy the ambience instead if the food we were constantly being dive bombed by flys landing on our drinks and food. I will concede that the service was very good."

  • "This was our first meal at Bottega. We had expected something special. It was fine, but not special. In contrast, we (the same group of 4) had lunch the following day at Archetype, which was *spectacular* in every respect. No comparison between Bottega and Archetype - our experiences were in different leagues in terms of food, service, ambiance, overall enjoyment."

  • "My wife & I just returned from vacation traveling the west coast. Much of our trip was planned around food and wine. We had a number of great meals but Bottega stood out. I am somewhat skeptical of "celebrity chef" restaurants as many that I have tried do not live up to the hype. There is no doubt that Chef Chiarello has his imprint on this restaurant. Every course we had was excellent. I ordered the duck and it was one of the best preparations I have ever had. My wife ordered the chicken. We never order chicken out but saw a number of diners eating it & our waiter recommended it. I never thought I would see the day that my wife raved about chicken; the most moist flavorful chicken she ever had. Fantastic dining!"

  • "After a day of wineries we wanted a few cocktails and beer. The vodka pomegranate ice and spanked basil with lime was out of this world delicious! My boyfriend and I split the asparagus salad which was Rich and great dipping for the crunchy bread on the table. For entrees I devoured the duck which with the strawberry rhubarb sauce made my tastebuds sing. And my boyfriend had the bolognese which was perfectly sauced and cheese already tossed inside. Overall a fabulous meal in a very nice setting that was welcoming, unpretentious, and very reasonable for the quality food. Definitely try this place if you're visiting from out of town like we were."

  • "We were really excited to try Bottega after reading all the reviews and articles! I wouldn't say we were disappointed, but we were a little underwhelmed. The bread for the table was great- but the salad we ordered, Micheal's "Moms" salad, was just not good. The salad was wilted and really bitter. We didn't have a whole lots of options as vegetarians, but the potato dough ravioli and the zucchini lasagna we ordered was good- I just wasn't blown away but maybe that was my high expectations going into the dinner. The tiramisu on the other hand was delicious! Overall- great ambiance and service and it was a nice dinner."
