I don't know how they managed to deep fry a soft boiled egg, which was served on a bed of asparagus and ham. It is their version of "Green eggs and ham". I have it every time I come to Bottega, which is every time I visit Napa, and never get tired of it. The grilled octopus was sumptuous, as was the pasta fritti, which we tried on this visit. Our visit was part of our honeymoon week in Napa Valley. The food was amazing from start to finish. The wine list was outstanding. The service was impeccable. Our only complaint was that it was loud, so the ambience wasn't as good as other Napa dinner establishments. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, but it was difficult to talk to each other. It was a great choice. The food was outstanding, as were the service and the ambience. The waitress was very knowledgeable and helped us with our choices. The price was reasonable for a gourmet experience. We plan to go back, even though it's 90 miles from our home.

We shared the polenta under glass appetizer, the bucatini e pepi pasta and the short ribs. Lots of lovely red wine to wash it down, and a molten chocolate cake to finish it off. We had tuna cured over pink Himalayan sea salt. It melted immediately when it hit your tongue. We shared green eggs and ham but this was no Dr. Seuss dish. Caramelized prosciutto wrapped asparagus with a crispy soft cooked egg had our mouths watering.
I had black garlic spaghetti with head-on prawns, mushrooms, tomatoes with a citrus flavor with bonito flakes to add a rustic flavor to the dish.
He had smoked, braised short ribs served with polenta and an espresso dolce glaze. They were cooked to perfection and fell apart when you touched them with your fork. Absolutely amazing! We finished our meal by splitting fresh meyer lemon zeppolis!

I have had a lot of difficulty in just getting into the restaurant. Often times, I am skeptical of hype, especially with so many great restaurants in the area. THIS PLACE is LEGIT. The food was excellent and the service was perfect. They even let me tie my dog up outside and gave me water for the pooch. Get the Polenta under glass, I know everyone says to get it, but its that good. Meatballs were wonderful too. Had 2 appetizers and 2 pasta dishes and was 100% full (I am usually always hungry leaving restaurants).
