BOTTEGA BYOB's daily changing menu is based on the Tuscan philosophy of fresh, seasonal and simple cuisine. Two or three ingredients for each dish. All our flour based pasta such as tortelli and tagliatelle are hand made in house. We only use the best locally sourced meats and freshest fish.

  • "Delicious combinations of down to earth ingrediants, Tuscan style. The food was so good it tempted a vegetarian back into omnivory. "Rustic urban" ambience fits well in this "Arts" neighborhood near MICA. Great people watching from front window. Waiter was helpful with questions about the menu, attentive and personable. A great place to relax and enjoy very savory food in a pleasing environment."

  • "First courses were nice (sauteed greens overtop ricotta and a chestnut honey on crostini; pig trotters tossed with chickpeas and cornichon also over crostini). The pasta dish was handmade and al dente, but the sauce (ground boar meat in a light tomato) was excellent. Our mains were a tad heavy in salt. I love octopus and couldn't taste that oceanic flavor. Sausage was so heavy on spices and seasoning, pork was overwhelmed. Plus, it lacked fat. Everything is so lean nowadays, but sausage? That's a sin. Sides were perfectly done. The blood orange sauce overtop the panna cotta was noteworthy. The rest of it, mousse included, felt like they're just winging it. I'm hoping I just came on an off-night."

  • "Bottega is in a very unassuming location which is no indication of how wonderful the dining experience is once you taste the food. The menu is limited, but offers at least three choices for each course. The portions are a good size, not overly small or overly large. I cannot think of another place in Baltimore where you could eat food like this. The duck confit crostini was amazing. I would go there just for that. Given the difficulty of getting a reservation, I just went ahead an book another reservation after our first visit. That way we will have something to look forward to in a month or so."

  • "I have eaten at Bottega 3 times in the past month and have been impressed each time. The food is creative without being fussy, excellent and a very good value. I like the informal ambiance of the tiny space. Service has always been flawless. And I welcome the BYOB policy since most Baltimore restaurants (with only a few exceptions) have very uncreative and unexciting wine lists. I have lots of great wine at home, enjoy good food, but cannot cook. Bottega is perfect for me. And they are open until 11 on weekends - dont they know this is Baltimore? - good thing because you will be lucky to get a table before 10."

  • "This was a neat place to go because it's so small and tough to get into. It isn't in the best neighborhood which made it kind of scary but just go when it's light out and it'll be okay. The chalkboard menu which changes daily was fantastic -- it made me know I was eating fresh food and newly prepared dishes. The roasted duck breast with pureed celeriac and cherries confit was delicious, and BYOB was excellent esp. since there wasn't a corkage fee. Portions are small but are priced like larger portions elsewhere so be prepared for that. I recommend getting all 4 courses - crostini, salad, entrée, and dessert. Otherwise you might leave hungry like I did (we didn't get the crostini and I think it would have helped)."

  • "After hearing rave reviews and waiting weeks for our reservation, we were surprised at how bland the food was. No taste of rosemary in the rosemary lardo crostini; a large but flavorless portion of lamb shank; and homemade but uninspired pasta in tomato sauce. The best parts of the meal were the very fresh greens as a salad and side. Would love to see this place succeed, but it needs to step up the cooking and not simply rely on the novelty of its intimate size and unusual location."

  • "Getting a reservation at Botega does present a challenge but it is worth the wait. Location is somewhat odd but that fits with the corky appeal of this place. The restaurant is very small which make the reservation process even more challenging. Daily menu is listed on a chalkboard which is okay but I would suggest maybe adding a second board on another wall to make reading the choice less challenging. Overall we really enjoyed the food but we felt that the meat/fish was somewhat under seasoned even though it was perfectly cooked. Considering that the items they served with the meat/fish were flavorful, we found it odd that the meat/fish was lacking in flavor. Appetizer and dessert choices were also very good. We will return!"

  • "This gem is my new favorite place in town. It has delicious and creative rustic Italian food made from local produce. Menu is on a chalkboard. BYOB. Only 16 seats in the house. The owner is charming and understated. Live this place. My last meal was a melt on your mouth braised lamb shoulder with greens, mushroom crostini, expresso mouse and knock you socks off pasta dishes."

  • "Really wonderful gem, with very few tables - so reservations are mandatory. Menu changes every evening. Dishes are a little on the small side, so you'll want an appetizer and entree. If you're looking for vegetarian food, however, the options are limited. On the evening I was there, only pasta with marinara - it was good, but I was clearly at a disadvantage compared to my dining companion!"

  • "We have been trying to get to this hot new restaurant almost since it opened and finally succeeded in getting a post-theater reservation last night. All of the recommendations and reviews were right! The menu offers a creative, well-balanced mix of meat, vegetables and pasta dishes. The roasted beet salad was as pretty as the Italian flag and ample enough to share. A gnocchi-like pasta of spinach and ricotta was light and lovely. The flavors of each dish we had were subtle and extremely tasty and everything was wonderfully fresh. Finally, the salted chocolate caramel pie is one of the best chocolate desserts I've had since the late lamented Marconi's hot fudge. We'll be back!"

  • "Made reservations on open table for my girlfriends birthday. Quiet and quaint. It really felt like we were doing something special. The menu is simple and amazing. Northern Italian style comfort food. I wanted to try everything, and it is priced to enable you to do so. Do not skip an appetizer or dessert. BYOB is nice. It allowed me to slurge and bring a bottle of wine that would have cost 3X as much elsewhere. We mentioned we were celebrating during conversation with our server and she made a point to put a candle on our dessert. Definitely made me want to return....Rabbit stew over polenta and the lamb with lentils highly recommended."

  • "We have been waiting to try Bottega and so I booked well in advance for my birthday. Everything was very good. This is excellent rustic food. The service was wonderful, it's BYOB... which is great. I ate the rutabaga cakes, my boyfriend had the veal. We also had the spinach/ricotta malfati, cheese & honey crostini and some kind of trout appetizer. The only downfall is the dessert. It was WAY too sugary and sweet (both of our choices)... I regretted having ordered dessert because that was my last taste... I would have preferred it to have been my dinner. We have already booked our future reservations!"

  • "Incredible! I have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite a while and it was well worth the wait. Every bite was delicious, with the highlight being the lamb shank- fall off the bone tender, perfectly seasoned, with savory white beans and bright, acidic kale. The price was a steal considering the quality of the meal. Our server was super sweet and attentive, and its BYOB. Already have another reservation for next week."

  • "Loved our dinner at Bottega! Only downside was getting stuck at a table near the door with a cold draft anytime it was opened. But they were kind enough to turn the heat up for us. Our server was so personable & perfectly attentive. The simple chalkboard menu was fun, as was the opportunity to BYOB. Started with their take on a caesar salad - marinated anchovies were delicious! We shared the pappardelle pasta with tomato sauce - which was very good but didn't quite wow me like I was hoping. I had the roasted vegetables with cous cous and my husband had the rabbit stew with polenta - both were GREAT. So flavorful and perfect for a snowy winter night. Can't wait to come back here in the spring to see what they can do with spring produce!"

  • "We've been trying to get a reservation at this tiny (15 seat) restaurant since it opened. I finally had the foresight to reserve a few days ahead and I'm so glad we went! The food was wonderful! and the service friendly and timely. It's not a fancy place but every important element of the meal - the bread, olive oil, even the sea salt - was carefully chosen and delicious. The menu changes daily, and is small. But the tiny kitchen with one chef does everything well!"

  • "Bottega has charm through and through. Our welcome was warm when we came in the door. The surroundings are warm and rustic. The menu is printed daily on the chalkboard and only has a few appetizers, pastas, entrees and desserts. Even with the limited selection, the dishes sounded so wonderful and we found it difficult to choose. We had smoked trout on a crostini and an Italian soft cheese with roasted grapes on top for starters. I had a rabbit stew over potenta which was hearty and perfect for the cold night. My husband has light "meatballs" made from ricotta and spinach -- so light and delicious. To finish we had the caramel chocolate pie which was unique although a bit too sweet for my taste. All in all a great experience."

  • "Go for the food! A good deal of imagination and planning went into the development of the menu items. And the kitchen is quite capable of delivering on the menu. I liked the structure of the menu--in four courses. My dining partner and I split items in the first and pasta courses, then ordered individual items from the main course and dessert sections. This gave us a good flavor for the breadth of the food. We found the staff personable and attentive despite being quite busy with a full house. The noise level was a little high since we were seated next to a boisterous table of eight. But I guess that's to be expected when you have to squeeze 28 seats into a narrow rowhouse type setting. I will definitely go back!"

  • "The first thing you notice is the "Old Baltimore Architecture" of the dining room from the wooden floors to the wonderful overhead lighting. It reminds me of an old Baltimore "rowhouse". You walk in and see the complete length of the place from entrance to kitchen. A cool thing for old Baltimore guys like me. Bottega is not a "white tablecloth" dining experience but rather a rustic feast for the eyes. Lots of cool stuff to see inside. Our wait staff (she) was personable, menu and restaurant knowledgeable and refreshingly genuine. The food was nicely prepared, delicious and served immediately. My dining partner and I were both pleased with our choices and I will certainly be returning. This is a BYOB location so plan accordingly."

  • "We enjoyed our Bottega experience very much, from the small, warm dining area with tiny open kitchen (how does the chef turn out such meals from such a small place?), to the friendly service and tasty food. The rotating menu is posted on Facebook, but it doesn't matter, because you can never get a reservation the day you want to go (we make ours a month out.). The prices are set and the portions are such that you can easily order 4 courses and not be grotesquely full. Unfortunately, we did not order a main course (a mistake we will rectify next time). We remedied that by ordering another piece of salted caramel chocolate pie after we finished the first. The fact that it is BYOB means you can really splurge on a good bottle of wine."
