Bosk, the signature restaurant at Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto, brings to life ingredients harvested a la minute from a network of respected local suppliers. Diners can expect old-world cooking styles combined with contemporary ingredients, and served with genuine, caring service.

Bosk seats 80 diners, including private dining for up to 30 and a seasonal, outdoor terrace which wraps around the southeast corner of the building. In the summer months, the terrace offers table service for 40.

  • "eventhough I went there for summerlicious just by myself...yep, just by myself, but the staff treat me just like the other dining ppl. I had the tuna, steak and mango pudding. All the dishes are wonderful, when I was having the mango pudding, the perfect balance brought me into heaven! it just the steak I was asking should be a medium rare but it taste and looks like a medium...which is a little bit disappointment, but the taste is great and thank you very much I will definitely come back!"

  • "Attended Bosk with a colleague for lunch suring Summerlicious. Neither my colleague or I drink so we knew our tab would be much less than the average table at this restaurant; despite this, we experienced exceptional service from the hostess, server, and their team. I didn't feel the least bit of 'shame' for not being a big spender (that day) in a high end restaurant. The food was outstanding including a tuna appetizer, a flank steak main and a citrus cake dessert. Bosk did a great job and as we work in the area we will certainly be back after summerlicious to continue to enjoy their offerings."

  • "We had a very positive experience at Summerlicious lunch. The food was delicious, and the service was flawless. Our only complaint pertains to a call we received from the restaurant the day before our lunch date to confirm our reservation. The caller told us that we "will have the table for 1 hour". We thought that this was unreasonable, and considered cancelling our reservation! We were glad we did not do so. As it happened, we had a delicious, relaxing lunch. We were at the table for 90 minutes, and nobody rushed us. We understand that the restaurant would be busy during Summerliciious days. But we wonder why they told us that we would have the table for only 1 hour!"

As for the appetizer, I got the tuna and it was good. The food was fresh, but the desert made me a bit disappointed. I like the woody wall, which makes me feel warm."

  • "Waiter didnt mention grapefruit in cocktail. Lemon cake was VERY dense(can't even rmb how it tastes anymore as the texture was just not up to standard). Told the waiter and responded: o the desert tastes bad? Let's see how much will be left? Was offer another and manager make a comment to defend that nasty lemon cake which made us think that it's us that was the problem and not the lemon cake. Honestly, it was a simple lemon cake, I am sure an average person can tell if a lemon cake is good or not. In the end she added: if you don't like the mango pudding, we don't know who can help u! What an attitude from the manager, never again will I come to this Bosk and I will not recommend it to my friends."

  • "We booked here to celebrate a special occasion. Location of the table was great, the service pleasant, yet professional. We all ordered from the "Summerlicious" menu and had the cucumber salad and seared tuna as appetizers, halibut and flat iron steak as mains. Presentation was great, not a heapful of food on the plate, amazing taste. The carafes to pour water are quite special. Our only "negative" comment: because the restaurant has two seatings, you get the feeling that everything is "slightly" rushed."

We had the tasting menu which was very nice...favorite was the lobster gnocchi. We decided to splurge and order the premium wine pairing which i would not recommend at all...the wines were just ok and definitely not worth the money. However, everything else was wonderful and would definitely go back."

  • "When my friend and I arrived for dinner, we told our hostess and waiter that we were going to the ballet for 7:30pm. We looked through the menu, which had lots of great choices, but I got the sense that there must be a pre-event menu, as the pricing on the main menu was quite high... Upon request, the pre-event menu was produced, which was more aligned with our expectations re: pricing and portion size. Glad we asked! The food amazing/totally fit for foodies, and by ordering from the smaller-portion menu, we were able to experience more dishes from their very creative and inventive chef. Fabulous food!! And beautifully presented! But ask for the pre-event menu if you're going to the ballet or theatre."

  • "A great value pre-theater 3 course dinner all executed to near perfection. A salad of alternative greens & edible flowers filled with flavors and richness that were beyond expectation. The arctic char with a wonderful scallion glaze was delicious, slightly overcooked but easily overlooked with the rest of the plate presentation with fresh local vegetables prepared to perfection. Wine list was complete & great reco to match the meal. Wine prices are premium but expected for this type of setting. Also, loved the Champagne cart service at the start. 6-8 selections. Beautiful french champagnes by the glass along with excellent Canadian and Italian options. Each thoughtfully selected and priced according to their origin "

The portions were modest enough as often the choice is not to sit for three hours or more with an over-stuffed stomach. The bar prices are steep, but the food was delicious. Friendly staff.   • "Prior to the mother's day celebration, the restaurant did NOT mention that the mother's day high tea was being offered in the hotel lobby rather than inside the restaurant. Despite my call to them when I got an email about a package for high tea with manicure and pedicure they indicate they were not being organized as part of the hotel so they were independent, but at least they mentioned it would be in the lobby. Despite me calling BOSK more than 3 times for this special occasion they failed to tell me that it was in the lobby. I don't believe they were being truthful to me, and I feel that was not right."

  • "Requested a table conducive for quiet conversation with friends and celebrating a birthday (low-key) before attending the opera. Bosk gave us a wonderful table away from the hustle of the crowd, tucked away from the main dining area so noise level was acceptable for us to carry a conversation without shouting which is a rarity these days. The food was exceptional and tasty. Presentation was also great. The service was attentive but not hovering. It was a great way to start the evening. This was our third time to Bosk....would recommend those who love good food, service and ambience."

Our waiter was very attentive and even overheard us talking about the fact that both couples were celebrating our mutual anniversary and took the initiative to bring us a complimentary dessert with a candle. Everyone enjoyed their meals tremendously except my husband. He ordered the scallops as a starter and was disappointed that for over $20 there were only 2 scallops. He felt it was tasty but insufficient. He also ordered the steak which was even more disappointing. The meat was tough and the seasoning was plain and uninteresting. In comparison, I had the ontario greens as a starter and the sablefish as a main, both were sufficient portions and delicious. "

  • "Pre-concert dinner for my wife and another couple at BOSK. I'd never been to the Shangri-La but was pleasantly surprised. Great ambience set up with the live band in the lobby, the great bar at the front of the restaurant and the room itself. Our server Rachel was excellent and professional throughout. All staff was courteous, helpful and friendly. The menu was smallish but interesting. Wine list expansive with with multiple well priced value options. All the food was excellent with wonderful descriptions delivered from the kitchen. Fantastic touch from Rachel as we had to leave 1/2 a bottle of wine to get to the show. We returned later with a table reserved by the bar and the wine waiting. Fantastic experience. We'll be back."
