Diner Reviews
  • "The dishes are attractive and taste amazing, the room is attractive and our server was amazing. He was attentive without being intrusive, was humorous and helpful. We happen to live above this restaurant and will definitely be back. "

  • "For a special occasion. Expensive but worth it. Fantastic service which is rare. Good sized portions and all in all I would be back."

  • "Always cautiously optimistic about highly rated restaurants, we discovered Bosk exceeded our expectations. From the moment we sat down to the time we left, the service was attentive, respectful of conversations and not overpowering or rushing. The food was perfect and the Duck was the best I have had....Ever! After dinner it was nice to retire to the lounge for after dinner drinks, good music and lively atmosphere. Well done Bosk!!"

  • "It's a nice restaurant in a beautiful hotel. The service was great. I accidentally ordered a $30 glass of wine which was a shock when I saw the bill but, I have to say, it was very good wine. I wasn't that hungry so I didn't order an appetizer but the others in my group were happy with their appetizers. The main course was okay. I ordered the lamb and lentils. It really needed to be paired with some vegetables. Based on the description I thought it would be served with eggplant as well but it was actually a sauce. The desert was alright. I can't remember being wowed but I don't remember being disappointed either. All in all, I felt it was very expensive for food that's just okay."

  • "Food was good, service was excellent, wine list was surprisingly affordable, but it had the ultra high end stuff if you wanted it...we found a great Pinot Noir for $60 that was great even for a business dinner. The scene at the bar has picked up nicely...good vibe, we stuck around after dinner to sit at the bar...had a good crowd right up til 1am. Portions are small though so you need a appetizer. The lamb isn't What I like for a lamb dish...small square pieces of lamb rather than chops or rack. The long stemmed water decanters gotta go. They are ridiculous and distract the table conversation when being refilled. Other than that I suggest Bosk for business dinners, or romantic dates..not for the hip crowd looking for a scene."

  • "We expected the food to be good as BOSK is in Shangri La; this was better than expected both w/ plating & taste. The chef did a great job of balancing flavors with textures and cooking the food perfectly. The little things made this place great - amuse bouches; the butter accompanying the bread. I preferred BOSK over Daisho (which was mediocre). Marinated fluke w/ citrus creme fraiche snow - amazing play of flavors. Lobster gnocchi was to die for. We all wanted more & were ready to lick our plates. The caviar donut was unique but lacked sweetness you would expect from a donut, which would have helped to bring out the taste of the caviar. Service was good not great. Definitely recommend the tasting menu, well worth it!"

  • "Not your typical 5 star restaurant in a 5 star hotel - it was even better! First off, our server, Stephen, was one of the best waiters I have ever had. He really made the evening special (50th birthday dinner celebration for 7 of us). First, they wheel out a champagne cart to offer a glass of champagne. I opted for a cosmopolitan instead and it was amazing--they even squeeze their own cranberries for the juice. The menu was short and amazing. I loved the lobster gnocchi! Everything on the menu, from duck to beef tenderloin was fabulous according to our table guests. We were too full for dessert. The decor is understated warm asian. The bar at the entrance was packed with people enjoying themselves, as was the lobby bar. Wonderful!"

  • "Service and food are always top notch. Our daughter is a picky eater and the chef is always willing to accommodate her wishes. the Shangri La is getting to be a pretty happening place."

  • "My husband and I recently dined here, expecting it to be a "wow" dining experience. I have to say, we were a little disappointed. We started with the Ontario Green salad as well as the Scallops. The scallops were only slightly warm, and very underwhelming. We moved on to our main courses (Prime rib tenderloin & the chicken breast). The chicken was very mediocre, and lacked flavour. The cheese croquettes were tasty, but that was the highlight of that main course. We moved on to dessert, and the only thing to really keep us hooked. The dessert was phenomenal. Both the chocolate banana dessert & the panacotta. Simply irresistable. We would consider going back to this place for cocktails and desserts, however would probably not for main meals."

  • "Made for foodies, i had lobster gnocchi followed by beef tenderloin. Delicious large pieces of lobster and unusual micro gnocchi. Beef temp was rarer than i like for medium but delicious with crispy potatoes, mushrooms and a delicious and subtle horseradish foam. and generous food portion unlike many gourmet haunts. My husband had a smoked trout appetizer followed by a duck entree. Both of us enjoyed our meals and the service was great. $300 for the meal including 2glasses of wine each so its not for the faint of heart. The restaurant was not very full and lacked the 'buzz' quotient but otherwise it was great and we would go back again. Presentation was nice and bread was to die for!"

  • "This was the second time we have eaten at BOSK and each time was wonderful and relaxing. The food was superb and the staff friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the glass of ice-cold champagne as soon as we sat down! No wonder that the late Queen Mother had a half-bottle of champagne with lunch!! BOSK IS A SPECIAL PLACE AND WE INTEND TO BE REGULARS THERE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! Thank you BOSK!"

  • "This was not my first time at BOSK... I continue to return for Business lunches as the setting is fabulous, food is fantastic, and conversation can be private! Try the Steelhead Salmon... if you want something wonderful, but the Lobster Gnocchi takes the prize!!! Make sure to order your own... you won't want to share this with anyone!!!"

  • "BOSK is definitely a neighborhood gem. Their service is unsurpassed for a white glove restaurant. All servers are knowledge, warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about their food, wine and spirits. The food is fresh, creative and always delicious. Don't be prepared for a serving to feed four - it's a high end restaurant that serves normal sized portions. Wonderful for a special occasions or to impress a business associate/date/friend/wife/husband. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and their desserts are wonderful. Their wine list is also equally fabulous. All around A+."

  • "Great food and service. Our main course were delayed due to a mistake they made, but we didn't really feel we were waited a very long time since we were enjoying the ambience and music from the lounge outside the restaurant. But our server came over to apologize and buy us dessert instead. Definitely something out of our expectation. Their drinks were good!!! The only suggestion is that if they can have a little more varieties on the menu, then it would be perfect. :)"

  • "First time dining at Bosk - food was "okay", seated at a table right in front of the kitchen door - NEVER accept this seat if offered - constant movement of staff in this area - too bad as there were other empty tables they should have put us at. Way overpriced due to Vanentine's day - we may try the restaurant again when we can order off the menu but will not be rushing back - very expensive, nothing "extra" included in the price (i.e. no champagne etc). Extremely loud as well - could hear everything from the bar area so not the place to go for a romantic dinner."

  • "Enjoyed the entire dining experience. first rate service, quiet ambience, tasty food. We had the pre-theatre menu, which is a great deal. We saw the menu on the website, but it was not offered at the table. You have to ask for this menu. To start - The rolls and butter were perfect. The salad appetizer had a varied selection of crisp greens and interesting garnishes. The chicken breast main course was tasty, but not exceptional. The chocolate/ caramel dessert concoction was to die for. We chose from the extensive wine by the glass list- much better than the usual 3 or 4 pedestrian wines most restaurants have by the glass. The BC Blue Mountain Pinot Noir was excellent."

  • "Our server is one of the worst I have ever met. I know what good services are. I have been to numerous five-star hotel's restaurants and prestige cruises like Regent. Sadly It happened in one of the most prestigious hotel restaurants in Toronto. I don't know her name, because she never mentioned to us. She is very cold with absolutely no smile all the way. She is young and fast but not nice or warm. She does ask how was the food but her tone says she doesn't care. It's not what you say but how you say it which discloses your attitude towards customers and your job. She has no interest in serving tables or assisting people to have good time there. We are Asian, so is she. I wish she could just be half nice and warm as the hostess Kim."

  • "I went here for winterlicious. The food selection and wine list was great, foods were delicious, and the staff/service was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was not so much for a date night--I find it too loud because the restaurant is (almost) an open concept to the bar and the hotel lounge. Our reservation was around 9pm so the bar/lounge was already busy and there was a live band performing. I guess this is the new hot spot in town. I would recommend this to a group of friends who wants to have dinner, drinks, enjoy the music and mingle with some mature and classy crowd of Toronto."

  • "It was my first time dining at Bosk and my experience could not have been better. I brought my boyfriend out for our anniversary and the staff made our experience one to remember. Every staff member that walked by our table acknowledged our presence, the manager was kind enough to check how we liked our courses and was super fun, the food runner was on point with his descriptions and our server (unfortunately cannot remember his name) was outstanding. He never missed a single thing, paid strong attention without being overwhelming and his etiquette was flawless. The quality of the food was amazing! I will definitely be back again amd recommend Bosk to a lot of people!"

  • "I think that the server was probably too attentive because there was only 1 other table filled when we were there. The mushroom appetizer was very good. My friend had the salmon and said that it was delicious. I had the duck -- usually my favourite -- the presentation on the plate was offputting to me. To say I was disppointed is going too far -- it just wasn't the greatest and did not, for me, live up to the rave reviews I had heard from others."

  • "Despite a couple of dishes that tasted good , overall it was a major disappointment! The chef tasting menu left us hungry. For those who didn't have the tasting menu the portions were too small. I came out hungry and unsatisfied after having ordered appetizer, main dessert coffee and eating all the bread on the table. This chef needs to understand that the primary objective is to feed the client not with pretentious arty presentations! Will never return!"

  • "Our waiter Stephen made our special dinner even more special. Great attititude, very well versed with the menu, generally someone who obviously loves his job and it shows. The food was absolutely perfectly prepared, and the use of different flavours in the dishes made every bite a surprise. Absolutely delish. Presentation was beautiful as well. We'll go back!"

  • "i was so looking forward to my lunch at BOSK. the restaurant was very modern and spacious. windows to University were bright and the service was personable. we had the lobster "gnocchi" was more like Lobster Orzo. not gnocchi as most would see it. even so, the lobster chunks were done perfectly. the mains, Steak and Frites and the Burger were very average. not the most adventurous meals to choose but still, could have been much better. friday lunch was sparse as far as patrons. 4 tables total filled. been there, done that."

  • "Food was very well-prepared and the ingredients seemed to be of very high quality. The menu was traditional, with a bit of creativity. The flavors were a bit more subtle/refined than I'm used to, but I think that is because I tend to eat more ethnic cuisine. Overall, an excellent dining experience."

  • "We visited as a group of four for the Christmas Price Fixe Brunch Special. The selection was excellent and the food well presented and prepared. My only complaint is on the bacon style on my eggs Benedict. In Canada I do expect to see a nice crispy peameal bacon as opposed to the American style back bacon (I do consider myself a eggs Benedict connoisseur). The potato soup and Caesar salad were delightful, and the desserts were a wow all around. I got to try a bit of the Bittersweet Chcoolate and Poached Seckel Pear. With that being said, I haven't even gotten to the best part of our visit.. our server - he was fabulous and made the experience what it was. The experience was personalized and exceptional - brunch and a show!"
