  • "We love the ambiance here, and the food is delicious, but the last 2 times the decibel level was so loud as to be painful. We couldn't carry on any sort of conversation with the friends we invited to dine with us. We don't mind energetic levels, in fact most of the places we most love are loud because of their decor, which doesn't allow for the absorption of noise. However, when you can't visit with your fellow diners, it's just too much. We won't be back. Such a shame."

  • "I used to travel to Lafayette and Acadiana and was hoping to find similar Cajun cuisine. I had the crawfish étoufée. I could barely taste the crawfish or the roux based sauce. Instead of on rice it was on top of a type of semi hard grain, and a large indistinguishable disk in the center of the plate. No gumbos of any kind. I had a side of mashed potatoes, tasty, but extremely greasy. My guests ordered the black spaghetti and Cajun red fish. They enjoyed their meals, but I don´t think they were looking for Cajun cuisine."

  • "Hard to screw up Mac & Cheese, but Bo's managed to. Dry, hard & salty w/ no real flavor. That said, the Crawfish Etouffe was rich & fabulous, though unlike any Etouffe I've eaten on my many excursions to New Orleans. Crispy Alligator was bland & could have been breaded "anything." Grilled Romaine Salad w/ Asparagus & Heirloom Tomatoes had its moments, though I needed help trying to find the tomatoes. Service was polite, but a bit chilly. A biscuit, which came with the Fried Chicken, was suprisingly sweet and creamy, so I asked the waiter what it might be. He replied, "A biscuit." Thanks, Pal. Bar scene is as expected for the hood, stuffy, tight and expensive. I guess this is sadly New York's version of New Orleans. Will give it one more go."

  • "On Friday night I decided I needed a nice meal with my new friend. SO I dressed to impress and was pleasantly surprised when we were seated at a cushy, romantic corner banquette. The service was attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. Our house cocktails were generous and delicious. I smelled the fried chicken at the table next to us and we had to have it. To begin we shared the roasted oysters and the Andouille Gumbo. We shared everything and the chicken and Louisiana Red Fish were out of this world. Mac N Cheese is one of my all time faves and this didn't disappoint. To close we had the Beignets and they took me straight back to New Orleans. The experience was so great I think Im going to throw a party in the downstairs room. "

  • "We stumbled into Bo's after being turned away from Eataly and found it on Open Table. What a surprise. It was one of the those lucky times when you find a treasure.Well it turned out we had a great meal. The pork chop was the best chop I have ever eaten. The menu is different, but a welcome break from the typical menu selection.The place looks and acts like its been here for a while, very professional and sharp. The bar is cool. They have a french red by the glass that is very nice.The dining room has a cool vibe, not too bright, not too dark, and you can have a decent conversation with a group without yelling-what a pleasure. I was also surprised to find out it is owned by the same people of South Edison resto in Montauk,, which is cool."

  • "Our server was friendly and attentive but didn't know the dishes as well as I'd expect. Got the fried gator, fried soft-shell crab, and redfish. The fried gator was good, but 50% of the pieces were fried sweet peppers, so the dish was really 1/2 the size that it appears. (Rip-off?) The crab was like anyone else's — very yummy but not original. The redfish was good but not delicious; I didn't finish it. Bo's has a relatively weak wine list and meh cocktails. I'd go back to try the etouffée and gumbo."

  • "Like other reviewers we found Bo's way too noisy and the restaurant wasn't even full! Clearly this is a construction and design problem. And it may be a factor in the surliness of the staff. I'd be miserable working in the environment too. Only go if you really want to try the food which is fine."

  • "The noise level was unbearable, could not hear my companions to enjoy. The service was poor, the busboys were fantastic, too bad the other staff was not the same. Did not like how they priced their drinks, charged extra for martini straight up and contrary to what menu says, they charge for garnished in your martini. The food was too salty and undistinguished. The crayfish etouffee was lacking crayfish, no whole crayfiish in entire dish. The fried chicken and buttermilk biscuit were the only highlight. We will ever go back to Bo's."

  • "We were excited to try Bo's as we have been curious about it. Unfortunately the consistency in service and quality of food was lacking. We were seated right away and drink orders were taken. From there it went down hill. Appetizers arrived quickly and were OK, not great. Wine was ordered and the pourer served an entire bottle of wine in one pour to a table of four -- not how I usually like my wine to be served. We then waited an inordinately long time for main courses despite the room not being full. When they arrived the components of each dish were variably tepid, cold, or warm and the quality was fair at best. Great conceptual menu but a big miss on quality."

  • "Unexpectedly, this place has a real focus on incredibly high quality, inventive food. It claims to be a New Orleans kitchen - it's more like a New York take on the cuisine. Fit for a foodie for sure, the blackened redfish with crabby sauce is so intricate and full of flavor that you simply cannot leave without ordering it. Service was reliably good, polite, always attentive and without attitude. That's all a man can ask! It's location isn't exactly vibrant, but there are others around it that are drawing an incredibly good business. I see no reason why this wouldn't be as busy as it's neighbor Hill Country, albeit for different reasons and attracting a less flannel-clad crowd. Not that there's anything wrong with flannel..."

  • "i LOVE salt... I eat popcorn as a vehicle for salt, and put salt on my steak, mac & cheese, and anything else that'll take it - but this was not good salty. the bloody mary was so full of horseradish i couldn't drink it - it burned. my bo's breakfast sandwich was described as being served on grilled monkey bread, and it was undoubtedly delivered to me on texas toast - adding to the excessive saltiness of the meal as a whole. the decor was simple & beautiful. our waitress was okay - friendly, but not overly excited to have us dining for brunch. despite the not so glowing review of food, i'd try it again for another meal."

  • "Reasons why I won't return: 1. Why are you putting a bunch of ice in my $6 glass of orange juice? That is just weird. And for $6, my oj should have been fresh!! 2. A kale, roasted tomato and feta omelette sounds healthy, right? Mine was greasy. Like a lot of butter was used, and I mean a lot. Mystery grease oozed out of my omelette. I could only eat 2 bites. It was gross. i hate complaining / sending food back so i pushed food around my plate, dumped some onto my husbands plate and sat tight until the check. I immediately went to a cute cafe nearby to get something else for breakfast. 3. I asked for hot sauce(I.e. Tabasco) and got siracha. I was confused. Isn't hot sauce a big thing in NOLA? Overall, a strange and unenjoyable experience."

  • "The place is quite new which doesn't excuse the kind of shambly customer service. No one seemed in charge, just everybody. Drinks are interesting but too costly for what they provide (if also at the new standard level). Menu items are interesting - gumbo was alright and chicken livers, both appetizers, were tasty and revealed real chefish knack and perhaps aspirations. Sat at the bar which got too dark too early. No one mentioned specials of the day if there were any. Everyone was quite friendly,"

  • "You must try the delicious fried buttermilk chicken. It was moist, perfectly seasoned and sooo good. The emperor's pancake (it's like a crepe dumped out of a pan in a wacky bundle) was surprisingly good, despite being rather unusual. And everyone's elses orders were good. They are undercooking their poached eggs across the board which is either for you...or will freak you out.Service wasn't busy and wasn't particularly attentive which was odd because the place was deserted. We paid the check and left 20% then sat there for another hour. You'd think someone would offer a coffee refill - since the place was empty. Nope. We were no longer really "there" I guess. I don't like that approach but whatever...it's manhattan."

Best fried chicken winter salad and biscuits. Mashed potatoes w crisp bacon. Can go light w seafood if you want. Friendly owner good pricing. All in all great find with a new twist in the big apple."

  • "Wait staff was astoundingly polite and attentive. The ambiance was lovely although one complaint is that the music is way too loud--could not hear my husband over the din! The food--wow! Best fried chicken I have had--melt in your mouth juicy with a breading that was just right. Try the fried alligator!!!!! It's not fishy or gamey at all, I would compare the texture to octopus and the taste to just--nothing you have ever had. The smoked mashed potatoes taste like a campfire in the best way possible. Had the blueberry upside down cake with lemon ginger ice cream to round out a wonderful meal--and it was perfect. Really want to try the chocolate cake next time too! Thank you, Bo's!"
