Diner Reviews
  • "Unexpectedly, this place has a real focus on incredibly high quality, inventive food. It claims to be a New Orleans kitchen - it's more like a New York take on the cuisine. Fit for a foodie for sure, the blackened redfish with crabby sauce is so intricate and full of flavor that you simply cannot leave without ordering it. Service was reliably good, polite, always attentive and without attitude. That's all a man can ask! It's location isn't exactly vibrant, but there are others around it that are drawing an incredibly good business. I see no reason why this wouldn't be as busy as it's neighbor Hill Country, albeit for different reasons and attracting a less flannel-clad crowd. Not that there's anything wrong with flannel..."

  • "Menu was limited, execution of plates was mediocre. Description of meals is misleading. service could use some fine tuning."

  • "We stopped in at Bo's for a quick dinner and found plenty to tempt us on the menu. The crude was refreshing and the rice was tasty. Drinks were well-mixed and offered nice elaborations on standard and classic cocktails. Service was super-friendly and well-informed. Nice crowd."

  • "Fun Cajun food in New York City. The gator was yummy, as well as the crawfish. Its nice to have a change from the norm."

  • "i LOVE salt... I eat popcorn as a vehicle for salt, and put salt on my steak, mac & cheese, and anything else that'll take it - but this was not good salty. the bloody mary was so full of horseradish i couldn't drink it - it burned. my bo's breakfast sandwich was described as being served on grilled monkey bread, and it was undoubtedly delivered to me on texas toast - adding to the excessive saltiness of the meal as a whole. the decor was simple & beautiful. our waitress was okay - friendly, but not overly excited to have us dining for brunch. despite the not so glowing review of food, i'd try it again for another meal."

  • "Reasons why I won't return: 1. Why are you putting a bunch of ice in my $6 glass of orange juice? That is just weird. And for $6, my oj should have been fresh!! 2. A kale, roasted tomato and feta omelette sounds healthy, right? Mine was greasy. Like a lot of butter was used, and I mean a lot. Mystery grease oozed out of my omelette. I could only eat 2 bites. It was gross. i hate complaining / sending food back so i pushed food around my plate, dumped some onto my husbands plate and sat tight until the check. I immediately went to a cute cafe nearby to get something else for breakfast. 3. I asked for hot sauce(I.e. Tabasco) and got siracha. I was confused. Isn't hot sauce a big thing in NOLA? Overall, a strange and unenjoyable experience."

  • "Food was great, had steak and trout both beautifully cooked and great flavours. Resturant area was very loud though hence 4 stars not 5."

  • "It was a Friday night and the restaurant had severely emptied out by 10pm. Not much ambiance throughout our meal."

  • "The place is quite new which doesn't excuse the kind of shambly customer service. No one seemed in charge, just everybody. Drinks are interesting but too costly for what they provide (if also at the new standard level). Menu items are interesting - gumbo was alright and chicken livers, both appetizers, were tasty and revealed real chefish knack and perhaps aspirations. Sat at the bar which got too dark too early. No one mentioned specials of the day if there were any. Everyone was quite friendly,"

  • "Fantastic fried chicken as other southern flavors with a twist. Atmosphere is celebratory but not chaotic. Very attentive service."

  • "Very nice for a New Year's eve. I usually do not expect much with food or service on New Year Eve however they did a great job overall. This night they had a wonderful live jazz band with an outstanding vocalist too! Would like to revisit on a normal night."

  • "a great place to celebrate mardi gras - or anything else. food is inventive with enough comfort dishes to make even the pickiest eaters happy. stand out dishes are the market green salad, roasted oysters, fried chicken, curried goat, and the profiteroles. the monkey bread is so delicious."

  • "They just started serving brunch a week ago so the menu was not available online when we booked. The Bloody Mary was thin but had pickled okra and $17 for an omelet without any sides or bread seems overpriced to me. Hopefully they will improve in time, very cute place!"

  • "You must try the delicious fried buttermilk chicken. It was moist, perfectly seasoned and sooo good. The emperor's pancake (it's like a crepe dumped out of a pan in a wacky bundle) was surprisingly good, despite being rather unusual. And everyone's elses orders were good. They are undercooking their poached eggs across the board which is either for you...or will freak you out.Service wasn't busy and wasn't particularly attentive which was odd because the place was deserted. We paid the check and left 20% then sat there for another hour. You'd think someone would offer a coffee refill - since the place was empty. Nope. We were no longer really "there" I guess. I don't like that approach but whatever...it's manhattan."

  • "The food was good, more pan-Southern than Cajun or creole, but we enjoyed ourselves. The drinks were strong, the service was ok, and we had a good time."

  • "Wait staff was astoundingly polite and attentive. The ambiance was lovely although one complaint is that the music is way too loud--could not hear my husband over the din! The food--wow! Best fried chicken I have had--melt in your mouth juicy with a breading that was just right. Try the fried alligator!!!!! It's not fishy or gamey at all, I would compare the texture to octopus and the taste to just--nothing you have ever had. The smoked mashed potatoes taste like a campfire in the best way possible. Had the blueberry upside down cake with lemon ginger ice cream to round out a wonderful meal--and it was perfect. Really want to try the chocolate cake next time too! Thank you, Bo's!"

  • "The menu is not huge but the choices are tough to make with everything sounding mouth watering. My shrimp and grits was amazing. The drinks look fun too although we stuck to wine. The staff is very pleasant and accommodating as a few friends squeezed into our table/space for birthday drinks post dinner."

  • "Referred y friends who love Bo's....I was disappointed. Just not special. I passed on crispy alligator, had the fried chicken. It was yummy albeit really salty. Pork chop was well cooked..so big we took it home for lunch.. Kale said was bland. Profiteroles were too salty also. Nice room, mellow when mostly empty. I will check out the downstairs lounge on the weekends."

  • "Altogether amazing, great drinks (including a traditional sazerac), great staff, and great food. The place is fairly new and although it was a rainy evening, with an early reservation, there may not have been a crowd yet formed, however, you could tell the place is popular already as people started to roll in just before and as we were leaving early for a show. Would love to visit again, and soon!"

  • "I found this place by just doing a simple serach on google and I was blown away. If you are looking for good New Orleans style , cusine in the city, this is the place to go. Every bite I took was better than the last one. My compliments to the chef, he nailed it."

  • "I really wanted to like this place. I was excited to try a new Louisiana Cajun style spot. It was not Cajun and it definitely wasn't Louisiana style. Cocktails are great! And the Smoked mash potatoes are fantastic. That's about it. My wife had the Louisiana Spiced redfish (supposedly the best thing on the menu hands down.) It was just grilled fish... Nothing special at all. I had the pork chip. Just ok. I won't be back... Just not that good."

  • "We went to Bo's for the third time the night of the snow storm. Service was not as attentive but it may have been an odd night . The food is great, one exception was the winter salad which was described by my friend as "odd and strange". The goat curry and the roasted oysters were fabulous . Bo's has great ambience! We are locals so its nice to have Bo's in the neighborhood!"

  • "We were running a few minutes late, but our reservation was still honored. We were sat promptly and greeted by a very enthusiastic James (our server) We had the alligator, oysters, shrimp n' grits, catfish and hazelnut dessert. Plus we indulged in the pickled martini cocktail choices. Everything was good and the timing of all dishes were adequate. I would recommend for friends. A solid meal,"

  • "Cool, hip ambiance. Group really liked the feel of the bar and restaurant! All of the food was delicious. Definitely get the crispy alligator! Only downfall was the pasta rags pork ragu which was over cooked & mushy pasta but everything else form appies to dessert was very good. Fun place!"

  • "When we arrived it was still kind of early so the noise level was quite low and the service attentive. As we dined, the restaurant filled up and the noise level was so loud we were shouting at each other to be heard. The food was just OK. The ravioli appetizer was quite small but the crispy alligator was generous and good. The entree's were OK but not as special as I had hoped. As the restaurant got more crowded, the service suffered. It seemed the wait staff as spread too thin though the bus boys cleaned up quickly. Anyway, we might try it again if we are in the area but would not make a special trip."

  • "What a fun new place! The atmosphere is so vibrant, the decor is perfect and unique, and the wait staff is incredibly attentive without being interfering. Fun choices on the menu, great cocktails, and perfect music made us so happy we chose to visit on a Saturday night. Would definitely go back - would e especially fun with groups."

  • "Amazing food, amazing ambience, and amazing service. Great space -- cool bar, which is also ideal for those who like their meals barside, but dining room is equally cool (although a bit on the noisy side), but it's easy to look past it. Agnolotti and pork chops were insane. Haven't had food or drinks downstairs, but the room is very swank."

  • "I came to experience the alligator. The crispy alligator was amazing. The pasta rags with pork cheek ragu was uneventful The pasta was over cooked, the sauce was a little dried out and the ragu was not flavorful. But our waitress was wonderful."

  • "The place itself looks fantastic - the decor is a charmingly eclectic and the whole place has a warm, inviting atmosphere. Great for romance. Sadly the food was only average - good on paper but on the bland side in actuality. Hiccups like a salad being wet and only dressed on the bottom seemed like rookie errors so this may just be a teething thing. The same could be said for the friendly, helpful staff who were a little over eager - particularly the guy who took my glass away before I'd finished and then took my plate away the second the second the last forkful went in my mouth. It's a great place to just pop in to and the cocktails were great, just not as good as we had been expecting."

  • "Went for NYE with another couple. Knew the fixed price for tasting menu was hefty but assumed the best. Food was delicious--very eclectic, unique, professionally prepped and dressed, and unfortunately miniscule in portion, even for a tasting. On NYE, one would expect a little more bulk in at least one serving to assist the alcohol.... A little disappointed.... Coats went missing at coat check, some shady diners all around.....but otherwise a lively place for the foodie."
