BoroughLoved it.Loved it! Our server new exactly how to order for a table of 5. And was spot on. The oysters had a smoked lemon ice that was to die for, and our foie gras was insane ! The pairings of the extras on all their plates added so much flavors to the main food , just done right! Yum! Ended up being quite pricy , however we didn't hold back on anything! Worth it. I can't wait to eat in the bar downstairs , we went down for an after dinner drink and loved it!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food and dining experienceFabulous food and dining experience. Looking forward to a return trip soon!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMQuestionable serviceThe service was good at first then we seemed to get ignored. We had to ask for our server a couple if times. Also, they open end the shades too early and it was too bright. A few people indicated that they didn't want them open but they did it anyway.
The food was very good. The description of the food was very good.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMImpressiveFinally got a chance to try Borough after the spring thaw and it exceeded expectations. The food was excellent, everything was very thoughtful and full of flavor, without being frivolous, overcomplicated or pretentious. The chicken main dish was a standout - yes, chicken. It was moist, tasty and had a perfect, crispy, seasoned skin.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely, lovely nightDon't miss the octopus if it is available. Seriously considered licking the plate. The skate was just a symphony of flavors. Our sun burned server was perfectly knowledgeable and personable. Can't wait to come back5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Great Borough Meal!Borough changed the menu again recently to add in Spring vegetables and a Summer vibe to the offering. Excellence! The favorites such as the strip steak and octopus (both are MUST try) are still there and new additions including halibut with shrimp sauce are nothing short of amazing. Also: Claire is a pro! The entire staff is outstanding, but Claire recently served a table with 6 of my business colleagues from out of town. She delivered world class service to these travel-weary associates. Great timing, great descriptions of the meals, and excellent upbeat attitude throughout.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommendI read that it's loud and you sit too close to those next to you, but I went on a Sunday night and it was maybe half-full, so it was easy to have a conversation and there was no one seated next to us. The service was impeccable. We had the octopus appetizer and a pork-belly appetizer. The octopus was outstanding, but the pork-belly was just OK. I had the skate, which was excellent. My friend and I split the tempura oreo dessert and a rhubarb dessert. Both were amazing and I would get the rhubarb dessert every time it's on the menu. We then went down to Parlour and the service, atmosphere and drinks were also excellent. The whole experience is similar to the Bachelor Farmer, which I also highly recommend.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but way too loudwe love our meal but the noise level given the concret was just too loud for me. I do not find that much noise enjoyable and it really detracted from the excellent meal and service.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNew favoriteWe went to Borough and while we were being seated in the lovely dining area, we changed our minds and decided to sit at the bar that faced the chefs working in the kitchen. It was quieter, more intimate, and more fun to sit there, (though we often like sitting at the chef bar in anu restaurant). Our server knew an amazing amount about the wines and the menu. Everything we had was incredible, from the chicken to the steak, and the mozzarella appetizer which was new that night. We topped off with tempura oreos for dessert! There are so many new and great restaurants in Mpls, so it takes a lot to really stand out. Borough is our new favorite.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great drinks! My husband appreciated the beer selection and the Rioja was good too. Octopus app was phenomenal, meaty in texture, not chewy, with a delicious glaze. I thought it was a little expensive for the portions but the quality was great.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food. My fianceWonderful food. My fiance and I go out to eat frequently and have a great appreciation for good food. The starters we ordered were the foi gras and the octopus--both are highly recommended! Our dinners were equally as delicious--the halibut and the strip. We didn't order any wine or drinks during dinner as we had a couple drinks in Parlour, on their basement level, before our reservations. We'll definitely be trying some wine next time. Our experience her exceeded our expectations. We are definitely planning on coming back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. Well sizedFood was excellent. Well sized portions despite what others may say. Oysters and octopus are a must. Can't really go wrong with anything. Food was filling but not overly filling. Well worth the trip and we'll be back. Excellent service.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHip, energetic, cool.Borough is a very cool, hip and energetic place starting with the bar right when you walk in. The bartender is very knowledgeable and engaging and very talented. The bar menu is great and his off the menu drinks are awesome as well. He made me a fantastic citrus jin fizz. The menu at Borough is small making ordering a little easier. We went with a large group and had most of the items on the menu.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! The food at this new hot spot was outstanding. We had a few small plates - the soup, the Octopus, Yellowtail, and finished it off with the Donuts. The highlights were the Octopus - brined, slow roasted and then grilled and absolutely outstanding - and the Donuts which were sweet and salty and hot. The bacon covered chocolate was a wonderful bonus. There were no low points. the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. A definite one to visit again.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AM5 Star all AroundWe are foodie junkies for sure and had been looking forward to trying this effort by two former Travail chefs. It was the perfect mixture of complex and complimentary ingredients and flavors, with dinner size portions while still holding on to the that tasting menu fun flair. We had the cauliflower and beef tongue appetizers, the chicken and skate for entrees, and carrot cake and doughnuts for desserts and it was all EXCELLENT. The service was also literally perfect, great demeanor, excellent food knowledge and descriptions and perfectly timed courses. Claire was her name, she was great. The restaurant itself was beautiful and MUCH larger than we were expecting. As two chefs, one current and one retired, we can't wait to go back.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTook a long time to get food.Took a long time to get food. Conversation difficult, including hearing the server.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe foie gras was superb asThe foie gras was superb as was the cold smoked lemon ice for the oysters. Enjoyed the skate with its rich flavor over the squid-inked starch. Thanks for a fun evening out with friends!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBorough is a great restaurantBorough is a great restaurant! The food isn't only taste good but also with an artistic presentation. Our waiter was very attentive and very knowledgable with the menu.
Fantastic food + great service. very impressive. Can't wait to go back!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat overall experience -Great overall experience - food was very good, certainly one of the best "special occasion" restaurants in Minneapolis.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Restaurant in MinneapolisBest restaurant, management and staff in the city!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food: creative,Fantastic food: creative, scrumptious, beautifully plated , uniquely paired. Tables are very close together but the amazing food gives everyone a conversation starter.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AM1st visit; Great Food; Service GapThe delicately fried cauliflower with an oyster and pickled peppers nestled in was terrific. If fois gras is your thing, this is a fine place to enjoy it with huckleberry and small brioche. The champagne potato soup, veal and strip were also worth note. Service teams were very attentive overall, but our first plate was delivered before our bottle of wine was even opened. This is a horrible service gaff and lousy way to start dinner. The first plate was cold by the time the wine was poured. It was also very noisy. We'll give it another try.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVery lovely place. the foodVery lovely place. the food is usually quite interesting and tasty. But during my last visit the execution was really lacking on the food couple of my dishes where cold and very salty.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding addition to theOutstanding addition to the Twin Cities food scene!! A must for the incredible menu - 5 stars on creativity!! AND the service was also incredible - winning combination!! Very accommodating to gluten free diners as well - thank you, thank you, thank you!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great serviceGreat food and great service but you pay for it. The only drawback was the tables were too close together for a romantic experience.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA new foodie gem!We took my sister-in-law there Sunday, April 7 - They had valet which was great fo my husband - they opened in January and the restaurant was quite trendy and cool looking - loved it. The food was excellent as was the service. Would definitely recommend to others.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my first experience. It was my first experience. It was OVER THE TOP!!!!! The food is fresh, innovative, and delicious.
They have the best preparation of octopus. Don't miss on that dish.
The hears of palm is heaven for avocado lovers!!!!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it. Great food, especiallyLoved it. Great food, especially the octopus (who knew we'd love octopus!). Lovely atmosphere. Friendly service.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I tried BoroughMy wife and I tried Borough for the first time after having read about it in a local newspaper. The server did an outstanding job in explaining the menu to us and offering suggestions as to the house specialties. We thoroughly enjoyed our selections of the soup and carpaccio for our first serving, marveling at the amazing flavors of these deconstructed dishes. The Foie Gras was great and our entries and deserts didn't disappoint either. We definitely will come back and look forward to trying more of the unique menu.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI want to move to the neighborhoodHIghly recommended by friends and I understand why. Wife and i started with Hearts of Palm salad (OK) and oysters (Very Good). Then tried Scallops (Good) and Octopus (WORLD CLASS!!). Octopus presentation was unique and one of tastiest things we've experienced in MN. A must order. We finished splitting Skate main course (OK). Waiter Seth was terrific and recommended some outstanding wines by the glass. Next time we will both order Octopus and trust Seth's judgement on everything else. We were very satisfied splitting an entree after we both ordered first and second courses. Chocolate Dessert was small but outstanding. Great addition to the Warehouse District. Makes me want to move there.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely excellent food andExtremely excellent food and service. Best in the Twin Cities at this time. Creative, small menu, but each item was a gem. All of the staff were excellent and explained each item very well - even the food runners.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWas very impressed with theWas very impressed with the food. We dined with a group of seven and everyone raved about their food selection. It was a pure food experience! Will go there again.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved everything about BoroughI loved everything about Borough except for the noise. By the midpoint of the meal, my companion and I had our heads together trying to be heard above the roar.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMChampagne soup, scallops,Champagne soup, scallops, sturgeon, veal, oh so good!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the extreme privilegeI had the extreme privilege of sampling nearly the entire menu due to the fact that I was a childhood friend of one of the chefs. Everything we had was amazing, but the Octopus was possibly the best dish I have ever had in my life. The beef tongue was also excellent and the Skate was really, really good as well. Great service, friendly and knowledgable, and a great atmosphere. If I could make the perfect meal from all of what we had it would be the cauliflower, beef tongue, octopus, skate, and the donuts for dessert. It seemed that everyone in the restaurant was enjoying the experience. Thanks Nick!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food! The room is bright and airy due to a bank of floor-to-ceiling windows. The chairs were very comfortable--an important feature when you like to spend a couple hours dining. The service was very good, although the waiter seemed a bit harried and his evening was just getting started. The food was excellent. We had a variety of things.....champagne soup with potatoes and truffles, oysters with a unique and outstanding smoked lemon ice, foie gras torchon with marshmallow and ice cream, scallops with crispy pancetta and maitake mushrooms, chicken two ways with mashed potatoes and soft egg, skate with baby artichokes, and finally, donuts for dessert. Some of the dishes we should have shared, as the portions were ample.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great nigt outWe had an excellent server, Claire, who guided us through the menu and gave great recommendations. Started with a great bar recommendation of the Side Car and Old Fashion. Both which were delicious. For the first course, the presentation of the champagne truffle soup was excellent and tasted wonderful. A must try is the Octopus and Scallops under the Seconds menu items.
We also had the opportunity to stop downstairs at the Parlour where they have a full list of great cocktails to try. I enjoyed the Trojan horse which was light and refreshing. Great way to end the evening along with their fabulous donuts.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food. We had theWonderful food. We had the Scallops, Octopus, and Foie Gras and they were amazing!! Our party of four tried four different dishes and were pleased with each one. The veal dish was terrific. All in all a wonderful night.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal. Love the restaurantExcellent meal. Love the restaurant. Only complaint is that it was a little too loud. It was difficult to hear people talking who were sitting right next to me. Otherwise, love it and will highly recommend!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants we have been to in years!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food with great serviceGreat food with great service from Seth. Would recommend to any one that looking for a great date place.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was adventurous,The food was adventurous, delicious, and a work of art. The noise level was a bit too high for conversation.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing addition to the MinneapolisAmazing addition to the Minneapolis restaurant scene and a great new spot in NoLo. The entire staff was knowledgable, fun and speedy. Our server created a special off-menu cocktail that suited my taste. She acted as a consultant and helped create a menu based on my likes, taste, etc. You'll enjoy the experience!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat addition to our foodGreat addition to our food scene.
Creative, clever, visually exciting , deliscious,
Can't wait to return.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded our expectations!Exceeded our expectations! We started with a cocktail downstairs at Parlour and was blown away by the creativity and style of our drink. We moved upstairs for dinner at Borough and it got even better. Our server was fantastic (we'd actually request to sit in Anthony's section again) and offered great suggestions and a wonderful explanation of the menu. I highly recommend the octopus, brussels and chicken. We will definitely be back for our next special occasion.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely loved Borough -Absolutely loved Borough - already looking forward to going back.
