I feel so fortunate to have a wonderful part of Parma, Italia within the heart of Old Oakland.
Thank you!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything I read about thisEverything I read about this restaurant came true on the first visit.
The food is absolutely authentic and fabulous. The hospitality offered by Fabbio was generous and genuine.
The lasagna, gnocchi and eggplant were melt-in-your mouth amazing.
Everything and our server, Bob, made it a delightful experience! Can't wait to go back.
Grazie mille per una cena fantastica!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMYummm! The food was very good, unique menu. Our waiter was outstanding, he was helpful by explaining the dishes and let us sample different types of wine.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOld Oakland GemIt's great to have a wonderful Italian restaurant in Oakland. It's located in an area now referred to as "Old Oakland", where the Victorian buildings have been rejuvenated, which adds to the "neighborhood trattoria" feeling you get when you go inside. The food is fantastic (you must try the Torta Fritta Emiliana", the wine list offers a very nice Valpolicella, and the decor is as put together and comfortable as it gets. Finally, Fabio Dalle Vacche, one of the restaurant's principals, is a charming, attentive presence, who is assisted by an excellent wait staff.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the feel of this place;I love the feel of this place; filled with aromas of home cooking, a warm welcome and great Italian wine list. I definitely would return to try more dishes! The fennel salad was wonderful and Torta Fritta Emiliana (puffy fried dough with salumi) was outstanding. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the food.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBruschetta was so deliciousBruschetta was so delicious - my mouth is watering just writing about it. My son loved the gnocchi and I the spaghetti. Wonderful creamy pudding- type dessert served in a jar. Outstanding Italian wines - we both thought the Valpolicella was terrific!. Top-notch dinner and a lovely evening!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is my second time for lunch. It is my second time for lunch. It is very nice to have a place with authentic food in Oakland. I am honestly tired of sandwiches. Double espresso was excellent, the best outside of Rome!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMModerately priced wines, smallModerately priced wines, small but nice selection, one Chianti was a little drier than first dry red Italian import; oversized, nicely dressed salads; tomato soup was sauce in bowl with flavor galore; pastas were served hot and tasty; fried polenta perfect; sausage a bit less favor than anticipated; and server made extra effort to concoct a cheese tray, while panacotta was creamy and delightful. We really enjoy Borgo, which adjusted at the last minute our reservation from two to three.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!Loved this place, when we walked in we were greeted right away with a friendly, smiling face. There were four of us and we each ordered something different - everyone loved what they ordered. The service was great, our waitress was attentive and answered any questions we had. I had read some older reviews which said it took forever to get service and some of the staff was rude.... did NOT have that experience at all! Nice little place in downtown Oakland, will be back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered the lasagna becauseWe ordered the lasagna because it was delicious the Friday before but this time the lasagna was dry and didn't have enough bechamel sauce. Our waiter was great tho.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest yet in this location! We're been to this location, which has housed at least 4-5 different restaurants over the past 20+ years, many times, and this is the best we've experienced! Great, authentic food, the owner's mother's restaurant's furniture from Parma, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Best tomato/bread soup ever, and the panna cotta was to die for. We'r going back in a few eeks with friends.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service here was quiteThe service here was quite simply amazing. We were given some fantastic wine choices, too, since my partner is a picky wine drinker. But the wine chosen for her she loved. We had risotto and gnocchi dishes that were fresh, and full of delicious flavors. I highly recommend this cool restaurant!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis lovely restaurant spaceThis lovely restaurant space has housed many excellent restaurants. Borgo Italia carries on this tradition. My companion and I split a salad and a chopped chicken entree with a delicious tomato sauce. Service was good and not overbearing. Wine selection by the glass was limited. They have added booths along the wall which we sat in. The only problem was they were elevated, which I forgot about and nearly fell getting up. The wait staff should probably warn people about that.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous as always!! VeryFabulous as always!! Very authentic Italian menu.
Unique dishes, warm welcoming atmosphere.
Can't wait to go back!!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRun, don't walk to this newRun, don't walk to this new addition to Old Oakland. From the insulate di aranci which paired a glaze of balsamic vinegar over a slice of orange to the perfectly coated spaghetti alla amatriciana, I felt like I was in Italy again. The spezzatino di Vitello was melt in your mouth delicious and the zabaione the perfect finish to a wonderful meal.
It was very busy and service got off to a slow start, but our waitress not only apologized but insisted on comping us an appetizer. She was so pleasant we forgave all.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLike a evening in Lucca---aLike a evening in Lucca---a Lovely Italian Resturant-True Italy in a safe Oakland Neighborhood-wonderful food, service-a pleasant surprise-we will return!
