Border Grill - Las Vegasalways a wonderful mealI eat here every tinme I am at Mandalay.... love the restaurant and susan always says hello when our paths cross.. has done so since the 90's at border grill in santa monica!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceTerrific twist on southwestern food. Compounding flavors just burst in your mouth. My party of 3 enjoyed great service and outstanding margaritas. I had the skirt steak and was done medium rare exactly to my liking. The beef brisket toquitos were also an excellent choice. We will be back!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchLove the concept of unlimited small plates for brunch. We ate our hearts out. More food was brought before we even asked so there was no need to feel intimidated by ordering too much. The unlimited minmosa deal was also amazing. We got new drinks before our last was finished. Every single dish was delicious - our favories were steak and eggs, breakfast fries and sweet potato pancakes. We were eat there ever day if possible. Good thing it is not since we would weigh a hundred pounds. Must stop while in town.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mexican small platesHad mother's day brunch here, the small plates are all wonderful, especially the planteen pasteries and came first. Unlimited mimmosa also tasted good after a long night!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchHad a great Mother's Day brunch here. So many delicious dishes and all you could eat!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI wish there were less eggs...I came here for brunch on Mother's Day. I had my kids with me, ages 11 and 1. We were sat in a back corner downstairs with tons of other kids! I thought that was really cool to have the majority of the kids in the same section because kids will cry, scream, maybe even throw food and those actions bother other diners. Being grouped together with so many others was an excellent idea. The service was excellent, it was crowded, but my bottomless mimosa was never bottomless and I tried most of the flavors. Watermelon was the best, it was fresh and not bottled syrup flavor. Food came out fast, as did our check, but my only complaint was too many dishes had eggs in them! Some would've been great without eggs. Hash & skirt steak were best!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ServiceMe and my husband went to Border Grill for our one year wedding anniversary and it was great. We'd actually married at the Mandalay Bay the year before and held our reception at the Border Grill. The food at our wedding was amazing, everyone loved it, and the food this time was just as great. We're planning to come back to Border Grill every year for our anniversary for as long as its open and probably many more times in between that.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, odd serviceThe food at this place is always great, the patio is excellent for outdoor dining, and the service usually -- usually -- is excellent. Our server on this visit wasn't fantastic, but overall, this is a great spot for celebrating an occasion.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is delicious! For those of you looking to have a taste of Southwest with a flair of Nuevo continental blend, this restaurant offers a good blend of flavors to your taste! If you are just looking for a typical Mexican restaurant, this is not the place for you. The food is smart and creative and the best is the Brunch menu where you can choose a wide variety of their flavors with 1 set price. Try their Pork Belly Waffle!
I have been there for dinner as well and with their lively scene next to the Mandalay Pool, good drinks and good food, I will be back for more good experience!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery tasty Vegas Mexican fareThe food and service at the Border Grill were superb!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest brunch in VegasThis was our 4th time going to the Border Grill Brunch. This is definitely the best weekend brunch on the strip. We most recently took some family visiting from out of town and they loved it. There are so many restaurants in Las Vegas, but we will continue to go to the Border Grill on the weekends for their tapas brunch. 22 items on the menu+ unlimited mimosas = one awesome meal.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Vegetarian Mexican OptionsMy husband & I dined here last Friday. I'm vegetarian and my hubby isn't. I got the Veggie Enchiladas (they're really stacked tortillas) and a side of black beans and my hubby had the carnitas (the "old" way) and a side of ranchero beans. We both very much enjoyed our meals. Hubby loved that his tortillas were house-made on the premises! We also had guacamole and a flan for dessert, Needless to say we both needed a stomach pump by the time we were done. Just kidding, but we were stuffed to say the least. We ate outside, on a balcony overlooking the wave pool at Mandalay Bay. Very nice ambiance. The servers were attentive and pleasant. We would go there again, when we come to Vegas.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeBorder Grill is always a sure stop for us on our regular trips to Vegas. Always great food and service. Wish we had one close to our home. never disappoints and at this point my husband and I have probably tasted everything on the menu. Would highly recommend.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBorder GrillFood and service was outstanding! Only complaint, $75 for a pitcher of margaritas is a bit much.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious menu and nice staff! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. We were craving Mexican food and this place was an awesome choice! You definitely have to try the guac and the chicken enchilladas had some of the best green sauce I've ever had!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe small plate brunch wasThe small plate brunch was delicious- every thing tried was better then the one before it!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful time atWe had a wonderful time at Border Grill. Their buffet concept is progressive in that you pay once and order as much as you want off the menu of their small plates. The quality of the food was great! We enjoyed trying new stuff like the PBJ with Bacon and Jalapeno as well as traditional brunch favorites.
What made our experience at the Border Grill exemplary was the outstanding service we got by our wait staff Crystal and Alex Lopez. Crystal was fun with a great sense of humor. She steered in the right direction in terms of what to order each round. Her sense of timing was spot on. We never had a moment where there was no food on our table and our glasses empty.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA must eatAlways a stop when I am in Vegas. The late night service is very convenient, with no sacrifices on food quality or service.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI've only ever eaten at BorderI've only ever eaten at Border Grill Las Vegas for their weekend brunch. At the time of this review they have just released new brunch menu items, many of which are EXCELLENT! We loved the Green Egg and Ham (which is one egg served over diced ham, green peas, and black beans). The brisket omelette is also very good. The Lobster Pancake was interesting, but it was difficult to taste the lobster (it's one egg with lobster meat on it, served over a pancake with maple syrup).
New items aside, the best thing on the brunch menu is still the Machaca Chilequiles. With no exaggeration, it is easily one of the most amazingly delicious dishes I've ever had in my life. It makes me so happy. The Steak and Egg is also top notch.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAs advertised. Nice lookingAs advertised. Nice looking restaurant with creative and tasty Mexican food. Worth a try.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLas Vegas has lots going forLas Vegas has lots going for it, food-wise, but a really great brunch is hard to find. The Border Grill does a great brunch on weekends that is worth the trip to Mandalay Bay. Choose from a list of small plates to try over a dozen different dishes (all you care to taste). So, next time you're in Vegas, skip room service and head to the Border Grill.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGo there!!!Imaginative food and excellent service. Wonderful brunch! Worth every penny.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOutside EatsHad family in town. Weather was perfect so remembered we ate outside here before. Decided to try their new brunch but everyone ended eating off the regular menu. Food was great as always. Will be back..4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWife had the Kobe Tacos, andWife had the Kobe Tacos, and I had the Pork - "Tecate Carnitas"
I had talked her into getting the tacos as we had both not kobe beef before.
Both dishes were good, and the beef was well cooked (a bit sweet for my taste as I would prefer a little more spice)
We both actually ending up liking the Carnitas better because it was cooked perfectly and tasted very good.
It is vegas, so of course margaritas were expensive a limited on the Tequilla - but thats to be expected.
Over all, I recommend it over the other MB restaurants and priced much better than the some of the other places.
Sit on the Up stairs balcony if you can.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMCarnitas were excellent.Carnitas were excellent. Outdoor dining patio was very nice.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chicken mole was the bestThe chicken mole was the best chicken dish I've ever had, period. Seriously, if you're going for dinner, don't waste your time with anything else; it's that good. Yes, others at our table ordered different things that were interesting and tasty, but none of it held a candle to the chicken mole. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars for the Overall rating is because we went back for lunch the next day and the chicken mole wasn't on the lunch menu.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTo Pricey!TO PRICEY! I am a Las Vegas local and decided to treat a friend out for a birthday brunch. I googled the best places in Las Vegas for brunch and found the Border Grill as one of the top places for $25.00 per person. I should have done my homework as the price has gone up to $35 and even a cup of coffee to go with it was an additional $8.00 per person. A little to pricey for two ladies that are not big eaters. Personally, I would not return, or recommend this restaurant, unless the bill was $25 per person and included a drink. The food was excellent, except for the biscuits, they were like rocks. The gravy on top is excellent, and so are the churro tots!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the most unusual, tasty,One of the most unusual, tasty, excellent champagne brunches that we have had in years.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBest brunch ever! It's tapasBest brunch ever! It's tapas style so there's not a massive buffet of food just sitting out. The menu is amazing.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. Will go there again and again. Best, most unique Mexican food anywhere..4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was amazing! WeOur server was amazing! We dined with a picky eater and her suggestions and the kitchens willingness to adjust the menu made this the best dining experience of the year. Loved how the waitstaff communicated with each other. I have dined at Border Grill before, but for the rest of my party, it was a first. They enjoyed it so much, I know we'll be back again! Thank you for a great night!!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Border GrillParis was a great waitress, and every thing that we ate during the all you can eat brunch small plates was excellent...My favorite was thier take on Pork belly and waffles and the steak and eggs, the Guava empanadas were excellent as well. I cant wait to go back..and the bottomless Mimosas were some of the best in town.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost amazingIt would have had an even higher rating if our waitress hadn't gone major MIA toward the latter half of our visit. But overall, would definitely go back. Enjoyed the brunch a lot and it was nice to meet and chat with the Executive Chef, who was visiting tables.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThese tapas were amazing. These tapas were amazing. Wonderful flavors. Diane3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was fantastic.Everything was fantastic. Everytime we come to Vegas this is our first stop.
Wish you would open one on the East Coast!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMTaco's were wonderful andTaco's were wonderful and very creative. We were visiting Vegas and came here twice once for lunch and once for dinner. I had a Mahi Mahi special like I've never had before. The sides and sauce are something that you would typically find on a duck dish. I would never think to do that, it was extremely tasty. Staff was very friendly and felt very comfortable.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very nice lunch outsideWe had a very nice lunch outside in Vegas. Service was very attentive and the food was excellent. Highly recommended.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNice SurpriseNice surprise tucked away near the rear of Mandalay Bay. We sat outside (it was March) and the setting was excellent. I had the chili relleno and my wife had the fish tacos. Both were very good. The best part was the appetizers. We had the best guacamole we've ever had (we live in Texas). The sweet corn tamales were succulent. They give you chips and three types of salsa -- the green chili was the best -- very tart and lime-y.
During our four days in Vegas this, by far, the best value we had for dinner -- $72 for appetizers and entrees, no alcohol or dessert. If you know Vegas, this was a nice surprise for a "celebrity chef" restaurant.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mexican food overlookingGreat Mexican food overlooking the Mandalay pool with inside or outside dining. Service can be slow when it gets really busy, but the food is always fantastic.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic brunch! EverythingFantastic brunch! Everything was woderful. The fruit with passion fruit puree and the guava enpanada are the perfect way to start.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMade what I thought was aMade what I thought was a Brunch reservation when I went online. It said Sunday Brunch and gave the starting hours, but no ending hours. Since our flight was coming in at 4pm I made reservations for Brunch at 5PM. Of course when we arrived to eat, there was no Brunch. So we had dinner. Of course we were disappointed. Can you please tell them to include the ending hours of their Sunday Brunch.
P.S. The hostess was physically there but her mind was out to lunch and not at Border Grill.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and Service were amazing!Food and Service were amazing! Loved sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time visiting whileSecond time visiting while in vegas. The food is oustanding. Eat a light breakfast and save rest of the day for dinner here. If u can ask for patio seating. Its nice covered with a view of Mandalay Bays pools.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBorder Grill was reasonablyBorder Grill was reasonably priced. The food was very good and service was above par. If you are in Las Vegas, and looking for something away from the crowds and glitz, the 2 Hot Tamales Border Grille is the place.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food!A great casual mexican place with superb food. Highly recommend!!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Brunch in VegasBest Sunday Brunch in town! Great food and a relaxed atmosphere. I have eaten here on many occasions and the food quality is spot on. Chef Michael is now doing a special food item every Sunday that he creates that morning. I love that I will get to try something new every time I go back. Words cannot describe how good the food is, they say actions speak louder than words and we keep going back so that should tell you how much we love the Border Grill!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Sunday brunch was fabulousThe Sunday brunch was fabulous and well worth the price.
