BoqueriaLoved the daily special menu.Great sweetbread and grilled asparagus. Enjoyed the dining experience.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodThe food here is great - we went in expecting to compare it to Jaleo and we did throughout the meal and several things came out on top (surprisingly). We were impressed. The Pimientos de Padrón (peppers in salt) and the Patatas Bravas were particular standouts. All in all, the food was surprisingly fresh and light.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time diner, great time.Food was really fantastic. Service was very good. Great restaurant, will definitely be back.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood brunch with good serviceI haven't found a place off of 14th for brunch with a good all you can eat all you can drink menu until now. This place also has a great outdoor dining space which is always a plus! And our server never let our drinks stay empty for long.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful EveningThe sangria is absolutely delightful- best to buy by the pitcher, don't bother with a single glass, and cocktails were well-mixed and well-balanced. The tapas menu holds something for everyone and makes it easy to work around dietary restrictions because of the number of selections- don't miss the cojonudos [quail egg and chorizo on toast] or the txipirones [seared squid]. The paella was especially good, as were the potato-and-beef 'bombas' [croquettes].5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMYummmThis place was great. Excellent food and good service. The only dissapointment was the sangria. We ordered the red and were not impressed. It seemed like there was no alcohol in it, after an entire pitcher we felt nothing (we are lightweights). Other than that everything was great.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFixing a mistake is good practiceBoqueria did what I wish other restaurants would do - they made things better after making a mistake. Our appetizer salad was brought out at the same time as our main courses and it could all barely fit on the table. They knew they had screwed up, so they gave us a free dessert. It was a small but meaningful gesture, and will ensure that I eat there again.
One other point - I think it is time to change the menu up a bit. The food is still good, for sure, but I'm starting to get a little bored.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAll inclusive brunch a must-tryWonderful brunch, from the Nutella-filled churros, to the buttermilk pancakes, to the lamb meatballs, it was an excellent Sunday brunch venue, and the all-inclusive deal meant we got to try everything on the menu!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat tapas and sangriaBoqueria has a wide variety of Spanish tapas, ranging from shishito peppers to cod. Our group of 4 tried 10 or 12. Nothing was unusual, for those familiar with Spanish food, but they were are all excellent, including the desert. We also had two pitchers of sangria, and both were just right. Most of the restaurant is very noisy. We were placed in an upstairs room, however, that was quiet enough for normal conversation. Whew!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMamazing foodthe food is absolutely fantastic. they make several wonderful house sangrias that are great as well. My only qualm is pricing- the portions are very small for what you pay for them. Don't plan on gorging yourself and feeling stuffed here- it's definitely a nibbler-portioned establishment. If you are willing to pay for great food, I haven't had anything better in a long time.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMbursting morsels of deliciousnessOutstanding contemporary tapas leveraging the freshest ingredients5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBoqueria was a great placeBoqueria was a great place for a group of people. The food was terrific and each dish was well explained by a fantastic waitress. The lamb kabobs and the ham and cheese croquettes were probably our favorites, but everything was very good. We had 10 different tapas. The red wine sangria was A+. We all agreed we would definitely go back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding serviceI've been here a few times for brunch, always pleased, but this time they went over the top - we kept having to change our reservation, people came late, food allergies, but the staff was so accomodating, constantly on top of our drink and food orders, bringing out more dishes on their own. Such a great afternoon, can't wait to return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty and ConvienantI came to celebrate Mother's Day at Boqueria because it has an all inclusive tapas / drinks combination. It turned out to be just what we needed and everyone left satisfied. The waitress could have maybe been a bit more friendly but she did her job pretty well, we always had our drinks and she placed our tapas orders very quickly despite there being alot of parties she was dealing with.
I also like that it's flexible, there is as nice of an inside area as there is an outside area which unfortunately we weren't able to take advantage of because of the rain. I would definitely recommend this to a friend and have already. Great food and vibe.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect place to repeat and repeat.Great place, have everything you are looking for a great Restaurant... ambiance, excellent food, superb service and more!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific TapasThe Washingtonian rated this as a new "in" restaurant taking the Tapas scene to new heights. Their review was on the mark! The food was delicious and the menu diverse. They had over a half dozen daily specials and we tried every one. This was a high energy spot and i can't wait to return.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthday brunch in the sunThe patio seating was great, and the unlimited brunch deal (food & booze for $40/person) was a good choice, especially considering that the waitress consistently came by to fill up our drinks and take additional food orders. We didn't feel rushed out of the table. They also delivered complimentary birthday churros at the end of the meal--just ask beforehand. Overall a great way to kick off Sunday Funday!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMEnthusiastic service, great foodWe had 4 small plates all were delicious: lamb meatballs, garlicky shrimp, spinach and a special ahi tuna with avocado. Our server was knowledgeable and guided us through the menu with great enthusiasm.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat tapasOur waiter was exceptionally helpful in picking a nice variety of tapas for a special occasion lunch. I didn't like the high table/high stool seating. Noise (which I'm particularly sensitive to because of a hearing problem) was ok where we were sitting but might have been too loud a few feet to either side.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDivine food and nectarThe service is timed perfectly. The choice pleases vegetarians, fish, and meat eaters. Ample choice, all delicious. The wine selection is excellent, ranging from moderate to expensive, your choice. Wonderful service throughout the entire evening. Three hours of fine, unrushed dining. The noise level is the only issue. You really have to talk loudly to carry on a conversation. It's rare to find an acoustically soothing restaurant these days. Have been to Boqueria three times now and each time was magical. Allie is superb -- she has excellent suggestions without being intrusive. Her expertise is phenomenal.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great Spanish place!...What a great Spanish place!... very authentic and tasty Spanish dishes... the waitress was very nice and helpful. And we loved the outdoor terrace, perfect spot for brunch.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat work lunchGreat fun dependable lunch place ... Great for sharing . Got me to love Kale with fabulous kale salad but shrimp in garlic leaves you wanting more bread to soak up oil.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Time! The food was awesome as well as the service. Would definitely go back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Brian Murphy is a beastChef Brian Murphy is a beast in the kitchen. Everything we had was fantastic!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGenerally great spot for aGenerally great spot for a drink and lite bites. Had 6 tapas - 3 I would say were outstanding and 3 good but not overwhelmingly rememberable.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Boqueria threeI've been to Boqueria three times, all for an early brunch. Each time I was there, everyone I brought said how great the food was, and how surprised they were that it was still not too crowded -- this place is a hidden gem! I suggest you get the Churros con Chocolate (to start - yum!), and all of the brunch items are so good. My favorites are the Tortilla Espanola (which comes with great pan con tomate) or the Torrija ("Spanish" French toast). Seriously, everything is SO GOOD!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't say enough great things. Can't say enough great things. The bar staff is super friendly and helpful. The cava sangria is cant miss. Our group of 4 got 5 tapas per couple and we struggled to finish, but couldn't let any go to waste. The portions are large for tapas and that's a pleasant surprise. The salt cod balls were great and so were the cheeses for the cheese plate.
I'd definitely go back!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSome of the best Spanish TapasSome of the best Spanish Tapas you'll find in DC. Highly recommend this spot!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic brunch and bloody marysGreat bloody marys (really the main reason why our group came for brunch!), though very unfortunately they're not on the prix fixe menu. The skewers are great and you have your choice of chorizo, anchovy, and others. One of the best in the city! The staff here always takes great care of their tables. Will be coming here over and over again.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a wonderful time and enjoyedHad a wonderful time and enjoyed many interesting dishes several of which were suggested by our very knowledgeable server.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas Treasure!it was our first time in DC and our first meal in DC - it was delicious - we had a lot of different items - sausage, cheese, bread with melted cheese and mushrooms, shrimp, and the most amazing fried potatoes. there was also an unusual 'sangria' made with vodka and dried cherries - a huge pitcher wasn't very pricey. we sat outside under the heat lamps and it's on a busy corner with street muscians playing nearby. the waitress was helpful with ordering and the food came nicely paced. we recommend this place heartily!
the menu is huge and there were also several specials - no matter what you are in the mood for, you will probably find the tapas version of it on this menu! we ate and drank a lot for about $120 - great deal!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBoqueria feels like a crowdedBoqueria feels like a crowded bar, loud, noisy, very energetic. Everyone is crowded into a small area so service is a bit frenetic. This isn't a quiet, intimate place, where you can hold a conversation. But it is an excellent upscale bar/tapas environment where every disk is great. Prices are reasonable. The waitress made some great recommendations but honestly I don't doubt that I would enjoy everything on the menu.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good, authentic SpanishVery good, authentic Spanish food. After 6 months in Spain I couldn't have asked for a more typical Catalonian tapas menu. Just wish they had Sevillan tapas.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional -From start to finish this was a prefect experience. I was entertaining a client and originally had a count of 8, then moved to 11 people and then showed up with 13 - then two more arrived to make it 15. The staff did not blink an eye and made every effort to accommodate us with smiles and grace. They rightly suggested the chefs menu and the food just kept coming and coming. The food was extraordinary and the service perfect. Will definitely be back with a smaller group in the near future.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas were fantastic and theTapas were fantastic and the unlimited sangria's is a great deal. Went with a group for Easter brunch. Good energy and staff was very attentive and courteous.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was delicious and serviceBrunch was delicious and service was good! Made Easter Sunday reservations at 2 pm but we got there earlier and they were able to seat us. Before 2 pm, we were able to avail of the unlimited brunch available - can order as much from a yummy brunch menu, including some drinks like very good sangria and mimosa. After 2 pm till 4 I think, one can still have regular brunch.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved Boqueria! We decidedLoved Boqueria! We decided on tapas for dinner and made a reservation based on good reviews. The reviews were right. We ordered 6 plates for two of us and everything from the lamb to the mushroom flatbread special to the carmelized custard dessert were outstanding. The service was warm, knowledgeable and the servers were well organized (especially when it came to running food and clearing plates). We are seated in a romantic corner high-top table with an intimate feel. We will definitely go back next time we are in DC.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm a big fan of tapas andI'm a big fan of tapas and this restaurant did not disappoint. The service and food were both excellent in comparison to other restaurants I've visited in other cities. Amada in Philadelphia is still my favorite, but if I was in DC I would gladly eat here as a replacement. Some can't miss items are the Huevo Estrelado, Tortilla Espanola and the Bacon Wrapped Dates.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing authentic SpanishAmazing authentic Spanish cuisine.
One of the best restaurants in DC3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious every time!Great atmosphere, really delicious food and sangria! It's a fun place to go with friends or on a date - the only thing to note is that on a busy night it's very loud. Make a reservation!!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here and we willFirst time here and we will be back! Good tapas size, friendly staff, everything was delish. we had the gambas, brussel sprouts, mushrooms and cruquettes. sangria was a nice addition to the meal.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorites! A groupOne of my favorites! A group of friends and I went shortly after they opened and it was as if the stars aligned. The ambiance was terrific, food delicious, cadence with which the food arrived perfect, service outstanding, waitress hilarious, wine impeccable, etc. We thought, surely this is a fluke! But it's been the same every time I've been since. Love it!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMUnlimited tapas brunch wasUnlimited tapas brunch was a great deal after a few glasses of their amazing sangria. Service and food were excellent. We will be back very soon and will save room for more churros!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing foodWe went for the bottomless brunch, and we could not have been happier. There was a nice selection of both drinks and tapas. The food was amazing, and there wasn't a single tapa that we didn't like. I'll definitely be visiting this restaurant again.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Boqueria was excellentThe food at Boqueria was excellent and for the size of our group and the ridiculous amount of food that we ordered it wasn't that expensive. I think this place is great for groups especially if you really want to try out the whole menu without breaking the bank. And because it's tapas a lot of the food comes out very quickly so you don't have to wait very long at all. This was even more impressive given that we were a group of 9 and we went on a Friday night at 9 PM - a time that I imagine is extremely busy for this restaurant. I will definitely make this a go-to place and cannot recommend it enough.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent, butThe food was excellent, but both the food and the cocktails are overpriced.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered 4 tapas for 2 (withWe ordered 4 tapas for 2 (with bread that was more than enough)- shrimp, (saute) spinach salad, lamb skewers and wild mushroom salad, all very good. The dishes arrived quickly. The restaurant is pretty noisy at the lunch time but we got table in a small niche so it was fine. We would definitely return.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGo for the unlimited $35 brunchWe are glad we found this neighborhood restaurant. We had the unlimited $35 tapas-style brunch on saturday and everything was great (some of the items that stood out were the lamb meatballs, beet salad, pancakes, spanish omelette to name just a few).
It can get Extremely noisy in there at brunch and the service can be challenging. But not for our server, Stefania..she was on top of everything at all times; checked on our drinks (delicious unlimited mimosas) constantly and made sure we had plenty of tapas selections on your table. You can always opt to sit outside on a nice day.
Highly recommend this place and will be going back.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFun and TastyAlways enjoy Boqueria - creative - fun and great assortment of tapas!2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'll certainly be back! After a handful of visits we were seated for the first time in the small area behind the hostess. This is much quieter than the rest of the open area and quite pleasant. We shared 6 tapas between the two us plus desert so we definitely left more than satisfied. Our go-to dishes (Crispy Potatoes, Grilled Squid) were a hit, but the specials were hit or miss. The special cauliflower flat bread was great, but the veggie torta was bland. My wife got the churros and chocolate for desert, which she enjoyed, but not as much as she enjoyed Marcona almond ice-cream that came with my chocolate torte. Start it all off with their spicy margarita. It's definitely a good set up for what's to follow. We'll certainly be back!2/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
