A word from Boqueria
Named for Barcelona's renowned food market, El Mercado de la Boqueria, Boqueria Washington, D.C.

Located on the corner of 19th and M, Boqueria offers residents and visitors of Washington D.C.'s bustling Dupont Circle neighborhood a taste of Barcelona. The restaurant is designed as a contemporary vision of
Barcelona's famed tapas bars and replicates the same look, feel, and flavor as its counterparts in New York City's Flatiron and Soho neighborhoods. In addition to the main dining room, Boqueria offers a private dining room as well as two semi-private dining areas and a seasonal outdoor patio.

Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoy the relaxed feeling of this place, great environment to catch up with wonderful friends. I definitely would return to try more of the variety of Spanish Tapas dishes. The notable wine list made it a challenge to chose one, the R-OH from Spain was a great pick thanks from the help of the server. Service was well-timed and friendly!!!"

  • "This was our second trip to Boqueria and once again we loved everything we ordered. Our first trip was in June, mid week. It was packed! Sunday evening..much quieter."

  • "The $40 unlimited brunch is definitely worth it. We ate everything on the menu and tried multiple kinds of sangria. Definitely recommend it. Not a place for vegetarians though as almost everything is meat based. They would have few options."

  • "Went to Boqueria for the first time for the unlimited brunch. Food was great, the server just went ahead and ordered the food for us and kept the plates coming. Chocolate covered churros hit the spot at the end of the meal!"

  • "What a nice surprise! This was a delightful Tapas restaurant and the plates were spot on. Everything was excellent. My personal favorite was the shrimp with garlic, the bacalao and the tortilla. The wine list could be extended. The Cava by the glass was not my favorite. Service was attentive and pleasant. Dishes come out super fast so you may want to regulate your time with your server. Compared to Jaleo, which I've been to on numerous occasions, the food here is exponentially superior. José Andrés may have over-extended himself in the number of restaurants he's opened and quality control is apparently not his forte. Check out Boqueria for some quality Tapas."

  • "The lunch special where you sit at the bar and order three dishes or drinks off a nice menu is a lot of fun, especially to do with someone else. It was plenty of food and fresh and tasty, as always. Loved our bartender/waitress too. I'm a big fan of Boqueria."

  • "I've been there for dinner and lunch last week and I will be back! The food is excellent. Try the Potatas Brava, the lamb meatballs, the garlic shrimp and the corn. Come to think of it...it's all good. Just eat there!"

  • "Came for brunch - the food was excellent and it didn't take long to get more. Sangria was flowing too. The patatas bravas were the best."

  • "Unlimited tapas and drinks were fantastic. Completely worth the money if you come with a big appetite. Very nice service from the staff as they took the time to answer any questions and go through the menu with you. Will definitely go back again."

  • "terrific service and lovely food -- little bits of yummy. The bread and the shrimp and garlic -- gasp! the roasted peppers -- salty and spicy -- I get them every time. I went to Boqueria for the first time two weeks ago, and I have been back twice since -- with another reservation in two weeks!"

  • "And faaaaaaaarrrr too noisy. If you like small plates/tapas, the food is pretty good, but they're too busy being a trendy bar to really get it right."

  • "My friend was visiting from Hoboken so I took her here for a bottomless brunch. She was blown away. She even asked about the New York locations and already has reservations for when she returns home. We had a great time catching up, and the food and atmosphere of Boqueria definitely contributed to the entire experience."

  • "Boqeria has an awesome brunch. $39 all you can eat/drink with a wide variety of foods and beverages. The waiter just kept bringing us plates and plates and plates of delicious food while our large group enjoyed ourselves. I'd definately come back."

  • "The all you can eat/ drink brunch was wonderful. Our waitress was attentive and explained the courses to us- we left it all in her hands and she brought out all the items on the menu. We had one vegetarian, and she was nice enough to make some of the options specially without meat on one portion. We arrived at 11 and it wasn't too busy, though by the time we left the inside and outside were both packed. Careful if you sit in the shade in the morning, by the afternoon it will be full-on sun."

  • "good food, portion sizes were perfect for trying several and sharing with a friend. service was fantastic, the place was very busy but never felt neglected, server was young blonde woman who was perfectly pleasant and attentive. the white, bourbon peach sangria needed more alcohol - two of us had a pitcher plus another drink....lots of calories but no fuzzy feelings at all:) Only disappointment was the patatas bravas which is a favorite of mine, these were way over fried (pieces of potato were too small for the fryer) and not much sauce (should have been spicier)."

  • "Boqueria has a great list of sandwiches for lunch options during the week. I've now been twice within a week and loved my lunch options."

  • "The drinks were weak but that's what you expect when doing bottomless. No time-limit & didn't really feel rushed to leave. The server kept forgetting to place our tapas. They prefer you order all at once/at the beginning which is inconvenient. Recommendations: -Sit on patio -Make a reservation -Order: Red sangria, lamb meatballs, tomato toast and home fries/potatoes. -Don't order: Mimosas (too much OJ) or churros (bland)"

  • "The food and drinks were terrific; a bit pricy but well prepared and presented. Great service staff, knew menu well and attentive without being over bearing. We had a great time and will return. Good place to bring a group with diverse food preferences. Only downside - the place is VERY LOUD and conversation can be a challenge."

  • "There were six of us in our party and we were seated in the bar area, against the window. The air conditioning was on full-blast and was blowing directly on to our table. It was uncomfortably cold! Service was excellent and the food was good - but to spend a meal trying to stay warm it a bit ridiculous."

  • "I came to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen for a while at 7:30 on a Wednesday, and it was so ridiculously loud that we couldn't talk at all beyond "pass the salt." The food was ok. Granted my friend is from Mallorca, so we had high expectations, but the croquettes and the patatas bravas tasted like fryer oil. Blech. The torta was good..."

  • "I've been to Boqueria a few times and it's one of my favorites! I am never disappointed with the food. My one complaint on this particular visit was that I went with a colleague with the intention of enjoying their happy hour, which was advertised on the website as lasting until 7:00 pm. We arrived at 6:00 and my colleague was dead set on sitting outside to enjoy the great weather. However there was a sign that said that the happy hour had ended at 5:00 pm. It only continued until 7:00 pm if you sat inside. I felt cheated that we were paying higher prices depending on where we were seated (neither inside nor outside was full). Also, who can get to a happy hour before 5:00 pm on a Tuesday workday??"

  • "So, we do ladies brunch quite often and maybe have high expectations. It was ok, but would definitely not make a point to go back. We constantly had to ask for refills on drinks, service was slow, it took about 35 minutes to even begin to see food come out of the kitchen. I wanted to love it, but will be headed back to Zengo or Masa 14 in the future. Food was ok, eggs Benedict was the best."

  • "Highly recommended for brunch. Great combination of tapas and breakfast fare. Still savoring the datiles con beicon! Will come back"

  • "Great tapas restaurant, with good wine select and nice atmosphere outdoor. Good tapas menu, not unlike Jaleo's."

  • "Everything about boqueria's unlimited brunch was great. It was nice that afternoon so we sat outside. They allowed us to move the table into some shade when we needed. The food was absolutely amazing, and our waitress was great. Our table had sangria, and they weren't nearly as quick about filling up your glass as some other places. Not necessarily a complaint but worth knowing. My only real criticism is that the food took a long time to come out, and as such, we wanted to try more than the timing would allow! I'll book an earlier reservation next time."

  • "Gret spot - fun to share tapas with a group. All seating is in barstool height chairs...which somehow adds to the casual feel. Fun place with great, shareable place. Peach sangria was meh...but overall good experience."

  • "I only had lunch, which was good, but pricy. The space is very attractive, but the high tables are uncomfortable. It is not a place to which I would return regularly."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "One can construct a very good meal at Boqueria, but it was not clear after our visit exactly how. The food was highly inconsistent; a potato dish was quite good but spinach was lackluster. Similarly, an octopus special shined, but shrimp -- usually much simpler to prepare -- did not taste fresh. Opening salami was quite good; the closing churro a bit tough. Boqueria does an excellent happy hour business, but most of the din from the bar was audible in the dining room and conversation was quite difficult. The service staff treated our party extremely well."

  • "Boqueria is amazing and it is the best place for Brunch! The price fixe menu is a crazy deal (just make sure you are hungy)!"

  • "I took my girlfriend here on a date, and was definitely not disappointed. We both love tapas, so we ordered a variety of things and they all came out in a timely manner, and our waitress was extremely nice. Everything we had was delicious. I'd definitely recommend sitting outside if you're there n a summer afternoon. I'll definitely be coming back here more often."

  • "Love the lamb meatball sandwich for lunch. Well balanced flavors with the patatas bravas & salad."

  • "Tapas prepared with ingenuity. At least 2 plates per person to create a meal. Few "entrees" except paella. Ours arrived in the small pan in which it was cooked with rice stuck to the bottom. Not what we were expecting for $18. Bread must be purchased. Cool water arrives in a milk jug for the table, though a glass of ice water will be made available upon request. My general feeling with this and other tapas restaurants -- expensive uniquely prepared plates with small tasting quantities. Bring back the entree!"

  • "Luv Tapas tried Bombas de la Barceloneta, Patatas Bravas, Buñuelos de Bacalao, Pintxos Morunos and Nutella Churros. All were good."

  • "Having been to three different tapas style restaurants in the past two weeks, Boqueria beats them all hands down. The outdoor seating with street music provided a great ambiance and reminded me a lot like Europe. There are so many good dishes, but the octopus was hands down the best, followed by the ricotto cheese desert. The wild mushrooms and lamb skewers were also delicious. The shrimp dish was ok, but was a little too oily for me."
