A word from Boqueria
Named for Barcelona's renowned food market, El Mercado de la Boqueria, Boqueria Washington, D.C.
features a seasonal ingredient-driven menu of expertly prepared tapas and regional Spanish cuisine under the direction of Barcelona native, chef Marc Vidal. Located on the corner of 19th and M, Boqueria offers residents and visitors of Washington D.C.'s bustling Dupont Circle neighborhood a taste of Barcelona. The restaurant is designed as a contemporary vision of
Barcelona's famed tapas bars and replicates the same look, feel, and flavor as its counterparts in New York City's Flatiron and Soho neighborhoods. In addition to the main dining room, Boqueria offers a private dining room as well as two semi-private dining areas and a seasonal outdoor patio.

I went to Boqueria with my sister for dinner. It was a Wednesday and it was packed! Wasn't anticipating such a crowd on a weekday and it was cold as well. Parking was a challenge so consider metro if it's an option (it's located near Farragut North and Dupont metro stops). We ended up at a bar table since we didn't want to wait for a table. The bar tables are quite cosy as they were very close to each other but luckily we didn't overhear the conversations near us (and hopefully we weren't too loud!) Anyway the food was delicious! Reminded us of the tapas tours we experience during our trip to Barcelona. Flavorful and well seasoned. Drinks were tasty (especially the white sangria) and not strong. The restaurant had a great vibe in a fun part of DC. I would definitely recommend it as a hot spot to check out late night and could see myself returning.

We ordered the fixed price brunch - unlimited drinks and tapas. It was very generous and we were able to sample a broad range of dishes. The food was outstanding and the service was equally great. We will go again.

My boyfriend and I got the bottomless brunch (and drinks) for 39$. While the price is high, it's well worth it. The food was amazing and the drinks (even though they were premixed) were delicious. I highly recommend this spot!

My wife and I love Toro Bravo in Portland, OR. We thought Boqueria was good by comparison but the dishes lacked TB's high caliber of care. Even the serving dishes themselves were rather small as if I were eating my bacon-wrapped dates off of an ashtray. We enjoyed the service we received and were pleased that it wasn't too noisy even when packed.

Good selection of tapas, including dairy, meat, veggies and fish. All were a bit greasy, including the meat paella, but tasty. Sangria was refreshing. Tapas were somewhat overpriced for the serving amount, especially the paella and brussel sprouts. Service was outstanding. I made reservations on line but did not get a confirmation until AFTER arrival time. Luckily, I had printed out my confirmation number and took it with me. Had requested a quieter area, which we did not get, but eventually got accustomed to the high noise level. We would go back and try other dishes.

Food is consistently good, although tapas occasionally feel overpriced. Sandwiches are a good choice off the lunch menu for a weekday lunch, but service can sometimes be slow even during lunch. Prix fixe brunch menu is fantastic, as are all three sangria choices. Churros con chocolate are a solid dessert choice. They have heatlamps for outdoor seating in the colder months - tables inside usually feel cramped with tapas-style food.

Tried the bottomless food/drink brunch on a Sunday. Very solid brunch. Was able to try everything on the menu, and few things twice. The food was really good, although we didn't like everything. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and will be back. Would have liked to see some of the a la carte brunch items on the unlimited tapas, however.

The food was excellent, everything had the interesting and strong flavors you want with tapas. I had the lamb skewers, the mixed croquettes, cheese plate, squid, sauteed mushrooms, and the serrano ham. The skewers, croquettes, squid and mushrooms were all incredibly tasty. The cheese plate was not too interesting, though the cheeses were good examples of the cheese types, i.e. a good manchego. The serrano ham was good, but not really anything different than what you could buy at an upmarket grocer.

Boqueria was really rocking on a Friday evening. The tapas are excellent and the atmosphere is lively, but be forewarned that the prices can run up with the small plates (the per-glass wine prices are also steep) and the piped-in music is loud, especially near the bar. If you feed on people energy and plate after plate of great food, this is a terrific place.

I really like boqueria, always came with friends even visiting for the weekend, love the chicken with garlic mayo, the beat salad is very tasty, the patatas bravas as well, the servers always been on point, as well the kitchen staff, and the bar, but, this time was little rush, we seat at the table at 11am by 11:20 all my table was full of food, I was felling little rush, witch never happened before, little disappointed, I was having friends visiting from west Virginia, and I have to tell my server to slow down with the food, because everything came out on ones, she was very polite and attentive, my beer always was refill, overall I have a good time but no a great experience like always, I will back :-)

The food was good, but disorganized service definitely put a damper on the meal. The food runners were apparently delivering our plates to other tables, so we'd sit around waiting for dishes we'd ordered to come, when the kitchen had already sent stuff out and nothing was on its way. At one point, we sat there for a half hour without any food being delivered to our table, and without a visit from our waiter. When I finally got his attention and he figured out there was a problem, he didn't get much more attentive, and half of the reorder STILL never showed. We sat there for over 2 hours, and never did get to try dishes we'd ordered. Disappointed.

I was pleasantly surprised by Boqueria, my friends and I did the prix fixe bottomless brunch and our server suggested we just order everything, so we did. Everything that came out was wonderful, there was only one dish I didn't like, the mussels, and that's just because I don't like mussels. The drinks were very good as well, I tried two of the three sangrias and my friends had the mimosas and we were very satisfied. I'd definitely go again

I usually go to Boqueria to have dinner with friends after work. I am never disappointed with the food or the service. We had two amazing specials: razor clams and lamb confit with piquillo peppers. Old standards like gambas al ajillo and xipirones (spelling?) were also particularly tasty. It is so nice to see this restaurant so consistently good.

I returned to Boqueria with a good friend from Spain. We had several small plates (tapas) of authentically cooked Spanish (not Mexican) cuisine. The smashed eggs (huevos estrellados, with serrano ham over potato crisps topped with a lightly fried egg) were delicious. The gambas al ajillos (garlic shrimp) was also nice. The star was the paella ($19 per person, minimum two) was nicely cooked and topped with calamari, clams and shrimp. My Spanish friend noted that it was nice, although there were a few liberties with the authenticity, but we both enjoyed the meal. It was sparcely populated on a Sunday evening, low-key and the noise level made conversation easy. Nice waitress who gave us space but kep items coming as they were ready. Good wine.

There's nothing like tapas to remind me of all of my wonderful trips to Spain and Boqueria delivers some positives and some negatives. The food is good--the (vegetarian) tortilla espanola, the cauliflower, the pan con tomate, and the peach and bourbon sangria are memorable, the gambas good. We sat inside but the music on Saturday night was great outside! The service was definitely negative. We ordered, food was brought (by non-waiters), and we barely ever saw the guy again. It's so much more fun when your in a group to have the opportunity to order more, to give your opinion on food, to have your food come in a timely manner. Maybe we just got unlikely with the service that night...guess I would try them again. Nice to see tapas in window!

There were 5 of us and each of us ordered 2-3 tapas (we were quite hungry). Half of the dishes were great - steak, paella, croquetas - but half of them were not, and clearly not the spanish tapas they were supposed to be e.g. patatas bravas are not patatas bravas. If I go not expecting spanish tapas, then I would be all right overall.
