We was more than pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. From the hostess seating us to the superb waiting staff we felt like we were being treated like one of the family. Courtesy and promptness abounded, and we were at ease the entire meal. We will highly recommend to my friends and coworkers. No, it does not have fast food restaurant pricing, but every penny spent was worth it in spades. We got the large sampler appetizer plate and everything on it was great. That could have been a meal for one person. The elk tacos were my husband's favorite. My husband had the buffalo tenderloin - which was cooked perfectly to his liking and I had one of the fish specials- also very good. Be sure and order some of their grits. I am not a person that likes grits but I tried them at Buttons and really liked them there. so gave these a shot. And these are actually better than Buttons. And the scones were good too. Tell them to keep up their fantastic work. It was a very enjoyable dining experience. The starters, main dishes and side dishes all had a big, Texan heart about them. The flavors were very present without being overwhelming. The service was just right -- everything was on time, but never rushed. The layout of the dining room afforded personal space while still making it feel like being out on the town. The location, on the other hand -- next to a highway -- ensures that you'll need to drive away to continue your night on the town.

I was away too long! Bonnell's is better than ever, and is one of few restaurants to offer the healthier game meats. I was quite impressed to see the all local area growers and sources for so many items on their menu as well.
Our server was knowledgeable, prompt without being intrusive. The dining room area was perfectly lit and not at all loud.
We started with the Oysters Texasfeller. They were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. My date had the mixed grill of Elk, with Quail and Andouille, which he share a bite with me - delicious!
I started with a tomato and jalapeno bisque. For entree I chose the Peppered Bison, which had a fabulous whiskey sauce. It is comfortable fine dining, not snooty or stuffy. I am not usually a fan of game meat, but the elk tacos were wonderful and the creme brûlée probably the best we've had.
