  • "Went to Bonnell's for a special occasion. Every aspect of our visit was wonderful. Had samplers of all the food because it all looked so good that we wanted to try it all. And everything from the soup and elk tacos appetizer through the dessert sampler was excellent. And the service was first rate (Thanks Sheila). The entire staff called us by name and recognized our special occasion that I had noted on my Open Table reservation. Very classy move on the behalf of the Bonnell's staff. Made quite an impression. Would recommend this as a place to go with friends, clients or just a nice get-away dinner for two."

  • "I have lived in Fort Worth all my life and my family owns a restaurant here. Next to the family restaurant, Bonnells truly has the most exceptional food. The buffalo was amazing and the venison carpaccio was divine. Great wine list as well. I'm looking forward to going back!"

  • "I took my wife here for our anniversary and we really enjoyed our experience. Amazing food, a wonderful staff and the overall ambience will definitely merit more meals here in the future. I would definitely recomdnd Bonnell's to anyone looking to impress friends/family/customers with a great meal in a Fort Worth."

  • "A good experience was had by all, only gripe was that the Oysters were served lukewarm and the crab cakes actually came out cold"

  • "Food was great as was the service. I would visit again."

  • "Bonnell's specialty is expertly prepared exotic game food - elk, buffalo, quail, but 'ordinary' foods like fried calamari, and even the salad were very well done and a cut above a regular fine dining restaurant. Attentive but not intrusive service and a fine and quiet dining atmosphere complete the picture. The price range is a bit above average, but not excessive given the quality and exotic food. The one weak spot - the parking lot is a bit small."

  • "We went for my boyfriends birthday. We have eaten Chef Jon's food at various functions and have ways been very happy with the quality of the food. It was great at the actual restuarant too and the service was impeccable! We will definitely be back!!"

  • "Celebrated Fathers Day with our girls. They love the Venison Carpaccio. We missed seeing Jon there. The restaurant seemed a little bit more hectic when he isn't there. We were there for mothers day also and the mood was a little more calm. One entrée was not described accurately and therefore when it came out was not what we preferred, but the staff quickly rectified the situation, by offering another entrée which was to our liking."

  • "I have dined at Bonnell's several times though out the years. Every time I go I ask myself why I do not make it over more often. Great food, great people, great place!"

  • "From greeting to bar to tableside service, Bonnell's has it covered. We received excellent service our entire visit and the drinks and food were very good. Whether you are craving an adventurous new meal, or desiring a classic we would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a great dining experience."

  • "Everything about this restaurant is first rate. Decor is great, service is great, food is exceptional. Prices are reasonable considering what you get and clearly the attention to detail is laser focused. Would recommend the 4 sampler appetizers, buffalo and elk entrees and a local Texas wine. Can't go wrong with redfish, either. Worth every penny."

  • "The experience we had was nothing short of amazing. From the food to the service to the company we shared. Everything was perfect. We were able to order something that we would not ordinarily cook at home and we can't wait to go back."

  • "A very nice dinner and tasty restaurant. Service was excellent - very attentive but not intrusive. Well-timed and friendly. Overall price was a bit much (but we anticipated it and were not surprised). The food was delicious - our small group had the cocoa rubbed filet, quail and the chile relleno. Desserts were creme brule and the margarita key lime pie. Everything was excellent. Wine list was pricey but very expansive. "

  • "We treated friends to a celebration lunch at Bonnell's. It was very successful. The surroundings are lovely; the food --every morsel delicious; the service is courteously attentive, knowledgeable about all dishes, never hovering but always available. Some restaurants with exceptional food and lovely walls would think it warranted snobishness----not Bonnell's. The appetizers are so good it is hard to get to the entree. Bottom line: we will be there often."

  • "It's everything we expected: Good Southern hospitality & rich delicious foods. We are from Plano & it took us an hour to get there. Unfortunately, due to the distance we do not think we will be returning unless we are already in the neighborhood. "

  • "The service was very good. However, the food was mediocre for the price. This is a restaurant that my wife and I usually enjoy very much. My wife ordered the Ostrich and could not eat it. It was overcooked and tough. I ordered the Buffalo ribeye and honestly I have had a better steak at Saltgrass. I like my steak marbled but the fat content in this particular piece of meat was unbelieveable and it was also overcooked as well. I will say that the chipotle mashed potatoes were quite tasty so there were glimmers of hope with the meal but overall it was mediocre. We had the Elk tacos as an appetizer and they were relatively tasteless but the grits they were served on were quite tasty."

  • "A very nice dining experience! This was our first time to the restaurant, and we brought family to enjoy a celebratory meal of a birthday. The service was very nice, the environment was friendly and accommodating, and the food was wonderful. The tables are set far enough apart from each other that it is easy to have a conversation and not be bothered by other tables. The meal was well prepared and very tasty. The flow of service was appropriate and nothing felt rushed."

  • "We used our Open Table points to visit Bonnell's. We were glad we did. An imaginative menu geared toward the carnivore, with interesting locally-sourced entrees. The bison was excellent, although it could have used either fewer or even no frites... too much. All the other sides were appropriate and well-presented. The special, a nilgai antelope from Texas, was outstanding. And Bonnell's knows how to prepare brussels sprouts, just the perfect seasoning and texture. Wine list, while a tad sparse, is very well-priced by the glass. Perhaps a few more Texas or New Mexico wines would be in order. Our server brought the wrong wine at first for one of use, so we ended up with an extra glass at no charge. Great ambiance as well."

  • "There were some misunderstandings regarding the wine at first, and the table was close to a large party. The arrival therefore was disappointing, but the great service and food made this evening very good."

  • "Always a great evening, we look forward to hearing the specials. I had the buffalo and my wife had the elk, both were excellent."

  • "My wife & I went here for our anniversary after finding out about it by accident. We weren't sure what to expect but we both were very pleased. As we were driving home afterward, she was already planning on returning. Will definitely be back. The food & service were exceptional."

  • "I used to think I didn't like venison, but I do... at this place. Even the venison carpaccio simply melts in your mouth. Every piece of meat I tasted around the table was delicious. The sides all have a Texas touch to them and are all so good. Great place. I don't know why we don't go more often!"

  • "Clearly Chef Bonnell is a hands-on person. He was in the restaurant off-and-on during our meal and checked with us TWICE to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The food is wonderful and the wine list has some outstanding choices without the usual high markup on price. This will be a regular place for us in the future."

  • "It may be the best restaurant in all of TX! Amazing food, unique entrees, and Creme Brûlée that is incredible. "

  • "From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional. Extraordinary teamwork between hostess, server, food runners and manager. All teamed together to make this a remarkable experience. All food was excellent (elk tacos, market fish [pompano], buffalo tenderloin and sides) with the exception of the one vegan meal - very plain, dry mixed greens salad and ubiquitous large squash and zucchini, although grilled, were still very disappointing at $32. My guests were thrilled with their meals. I absolutely still rate this restaurant experience a "5." It is my choice to eat the way I do. All my guests loved their meals and the service was exceptional. Next time I'll pick one of the sides and I am sure I will love my meal as well. "

  • "I normally don't dine here on the weekend, but it was nice to see the place very busy on a Saturday night. The food was excellent, as it always is, but my mom just might have out-ordered me this evening. I typically order fish, so I had the Barramundi, which was quite good. My mom ordered the wild boar, and let me sample a few bites, but I'm thinking that might have been the best way to go. Both meals were beyond excellent, and the Bonnell's wines were also fabulous. As for the service, Sheila waited on our table that evening, and she might be the best around!"

  • "We had Open table reservations for two for 7:30 and arrived at 7:15. The hostess gave us a very warm greeting and indicated that they had a table ready, and she seated us in a section that was attended by Cindy. Cindy made the night a perfect event with her incredible attention to service. I ordered a special cocktail - no problem - arrived moments later. Shrimp and grits and Calamari appetizers were perfect as well as the main course of a beef filet and a buffalo filet. We both had an apple crisp - outstanding! A terrific night. Thank you Cindy. "

  • "I had heard about Bonnell's for years, finally went Saturday night. Each of us had something different (fish, elk, lamb, pasta) and everyone was extremely pleased with the food. The creme brulee was excellent!! Service was attentive. Prices reasonable. "

  • "Service was a bit slow and the food was good.... I had a venison carpaccio - this restaurant is know for its wide variety of meat - and it was excellent. But the main course I had was a chile releno which was just average. Wine selection was ok and dessert was good. Not sure if I would go back next time I'm in town."

  • "We made our first visit to Bonnell's and we cannot wait for our next! Every aspect was outstanding and we are trying to find an excuse for our next visit."

  • "I ordered the mixed grill with lamb cooked medium as the optional meat. The meats (quail, elk, and lamb) were all average in flavor with the lamb being tough and chewy. The cheese grits served in a crispy shell were outstanding with an interesting texture and a rich cheesy flavor, but I didn't go to Bonnells for grits. We also got the dessert sampler and they were all better than average. If you are going to Bonnells for the wild game selection it is my personal opinion that you will be disappointed."
