Diner Reviews
  • "The food was very good and worth the price. One thing that bugged me was the waitress tried to up sell us on every drink/dish we ordered. Pretty tacky given the reputation of the restaurant."

  • "Service outweighs everything, dining area and ambiance is just okay. Food is just okay as well, wine list limiting. Wouldn't go back or get a craving for anything here. Very non-descript. "

  • "Ive been there before and it has great food, we went just for sushi and i think their main courses might be more special. The waiter definitely was rushing us and wasn't very kind."

  • "The small sharing plates were delicious....lobster roll, chicken dumplings, crispy shrimp were absolutely delicious! My husband asked for a whiskey and he was told to order a $32 glass. That was crazy. I would definitely oh back but do not need to order entrees as we were full after all of the yummy appetizers!"

  • "Bigeye tuna tart blew my tongue outta my face it was so good. Everything else high quality. You're certainly paying for it."

  • "Everything was great at BondSt but the only thing I asked for in advance was to have the dessert (which we never normally order) be brought out with a candle as a surprise for the special occasion. The team forgot and it was a big disappointment to an otherwise good experience that could have been phenomenal."

  • "I like Asian food so for me it was a great pleasure. I have discovered the some new plates and everything was very tasty. The service was also perfect, quick and very gentle, so no complaining at all."

  • "Overall the service was very good, but sometimes the servers would remove the food before we were even done. We felt rushed and also it wasn't appreciated that they didn't ask before they removed our items. Perhaps many people waste food at an establishment like this, but not us. The food and drinks do not disappoint. And it's filled with beautiful people."

  • "As usual the food and service was great. I hadn't been to Bond Street in a while. I forgot how loud the place is. I was there on business and we could barely hear each other."

  • "A co-worker was leaving my group and i wanted to take her to a special place. I knew she would love the food and the atmosphere and we were not disappointed. Our table was ready when we arrived and the the rest of the evening was just wonderful."

  • "I never, & I mean never write reviews. This is honestly my first. I have been going to BONDST for years, & it used to be "go-to" for me. Whether it would be for a client dinner, a good meal with friends, a light dinner and drinks - whatever the occasion, I knew, I would get a good meal out of BONDST. I recently went back (after about a 6 month hiatus), on 3/20, for a client dinner. After many good apps, we were served our Omakase entree. This is where the meal went south.. The fish was so fishy, it was stringy, and just terrible to eat. When we told the server, we were given a non-apologetic apology, and were asked if we wanted to order something different. We did, and we were still charged. I will never return to BONDST."

  • "I have been coming to Bond Street for 15 years and I was very disappointed by the experience in had on Friday. I doubt i would ever consider BondStreet a reliable establishment ever again. It was the first time i had booked the reservation through Open Table - i'm not sure if that had anything to do with it - but we were given highly slow and inattentive service. We were on the second floor and it seems they do not have their kitchen service running properly. As usual, i ordered appetizers separately to sushis/entrees - but everything arrived staggered 1-2 dishes but we waited 20 mins between dishes- a two course meal took 3 hours! I am not usually someone to leave a negative review but the service simply ruined my affection for BondSt."

  • "This is a cool restaurant with really great service. The food is beautifully prepared, but not much better than you would find at any Japanese restaurant of a certain quality. Great for a date. A little expensive, but definitely not ridiculously so."

  • "I was very excited to go to BondSt, but was ultimately disappointed with my experience. The staff was snooty and rushed us from the moment we walked in. The pricey drinks were weak and the rolls were fairly average. One roll we actually had to send back because the tempura was burnt. Crispy is one thing, charred is another."

  • "The food is consistently amazing. But the service ruined my birthday dinner. First of all, it took us 15 minutes to get our drinks after ordering them every time. We ordered several appetizers and 3 sushi rolls. The first app came out in a timely manner. The next two apps came out as soon as we were done -perfect timing. Then we waited a solid 20 - 30 minutes for the next items. We asked the waitress to check on our food but it still took another 10 minutes. The MOST surprising part was that after the rice, it took another 20+ minutes to get the sushi. Its raw - why so long? We were about to ask for a check and cancel the sushi when it showed up at 10 to 11pm (our reservation was at 8). This long experience changed my opinion of BONDST."

  • "We've been to Bond Street every time we visit NYC. This time we finished with a bill for $650 for 6 of us but we all felt it really wasn't worth the money or as good as previous visits. Less specials were offered which made it very basic in terms of Sushi. We also didn't appreciate the 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill for mediocre service."

  • "Every dish was clean, fresh, intriguing and exceptionally flavorful. From the nightly special of blowfish sashimi to the red snapper tacos, each dish was a feast for the eye and palate. Well complimented by garnish and sides. Highly recommend the spicy crispy shrimp and the big eye tuna tart. While the fish/ seafood was stellar, there were also entrées for meat lovers."

  • "Come here for the drinks and the atmosphere, especially at the bar downstairs. The cocktails are not very strong but absolutely delicious (possibly due to them not being very strong) and there's a great crowd and vibe. We came with a party of 6 after work on a Friday night with a Gilt City voucher and had a really fun night! The food is overpriced and pretty middle-of-the-road when it comes to sushi so I wouldn't recommend eating too much, but there are decent snacks you can order along with your cocktails."

  • "The food was incredible. I've eaten at Blue Ribbon Sushi plenty of times, but the sushi here is WAY better. I will definitely be back."

  • "Quite possibly the best sushi dinner I have ever had. reservation on time as requested. second floor table - space is a bit tight but not too bad- waiter and staff very attentive and very knowledgeable --excellent service unrushed and easy quiet atmosphere--setting and lighting conducive to the dinner and now to the food... simply wonderful - selection of sushi and specials extensive not a big drinker so can't comment on cocktails however a good selection of Japanese's beers which was nice --must try Bond St when in NYC"

  • "Came on a date with this guy I've been seeing. It was amazing. Aside from not being able to get a reservation until 1030pm even when I booked four weeks in advance, the atmosphere was great and the food was incredible. Had the octopus appetizer which was absolutely incredible. The sushi was great; the jalapeño scallop roll was excellent. And so was the lobster tempura roll. Yum-o!"

  • "I could not have had a better experience at Bond St. Truly. The staff is too wonderful for words. Finley took great care of me at the bar while I waited for my date to arrive, a beautiful hostess courteously took my coat with a smile. And sweet Christine (manager, I believe), indulged my chatty self in several minutes of conversation. Once my date arrived, we took the elevator up to the second floor, the delightfully dim (sexy and fancy) dining room. I sat on a perfectly plump, plush couch, almost as decadent as the meal we feasted on. The taste of that succulent duck confit is still dancing on my tongue. DIVINE. I really can't wait to visit Bond St. again. I can't say enough good things!! GO, GO, GO. And take me with you, please."

  • "recommend the tuna tart, crispy spicy shrimp and toro tartar over warm sticky rice. service was excellent, all tables full and not too noisy as we could hear each other easily. Only disappointing dish was the squid ink pasta with seafood. They allow wine for a fee."

  • "This was the second time I've been to BONDST. I had the Omakase both times ($80 option), and can't imagine going there without getting it. It includes an oyster with a great salsa, one of the most amazing things I've put in my mouth - which is some sort of tuna on a thin tostada with truffle oil, short rib entree, sea bass entree, assorted sushi, duck soup, and two desserts. A few things are blow your socks off, and a couple others are just very good....but no misses. If I had any complaints it's that it seems a little rushed, but it's probably because they are trying to get you through so many courses. Also the desserts are very similar. Would like a little diversity in taste. But the food food,....just amazing. Would recommend to anyone."

  • "this is where i wanted to be dining on my 65th birthday. all i can say is that EVERYTHING WAS FABULOUS! can't wait to go again. i would & i have been recommending bondst to all."

  • "I don't know who invented the paper thin tart with paper thin tuna and creamy ponzu sauce but it is the best appetizer ever and this is the best version. If you find vegetable sushi curiously dull, the worst of two worlds, you must try the arugula maki smothered with hair-thin French fries! We also love the bay scallops, combined with slivers of jalapeno in maki with white soy wrappers, subtle meets amazing. The freshness and variety of the fish, the intriguingly inventive (but not zany) dishes and the stylish surroundings make this our favorite seafood restaurant in NYC."

  • "Food portions and drinks were very small but expensive, however the quality was good.. Was a bit dark and I placed drink over that black stone chopsticks resting thing, got it all over my nice light dress pants and was wet throughout did not have a good evening after that"

  • "My "must do" on every visit to NYC. Simply outstanding. We didn't even consider looking at the menu. Rather, we let the waiter take us on a culinary adventure. BondSt never disappoints!"

  • "I have been to Bond St many years ago and remember it being a happening spot and having great food. It was empty at 6:45pm on a Sautrday (not surprising) but didn't have many more people when we left. The tuna on sticky rice-tuna was just mushed salt; Szechuan yellowtail was just fish floating in soy sauce and the edamame was covered in sea salt. I ordered the omakase sushi because I love to see what interesting creations the sushi chef come up with when given Carte Blanche. The fish was fresh but not creative at all. My husband had 2 rolls that were very pretty but not particularly tasty. It's a beautiful restaurant and fish is high quality but chef uses too much salt! Maybe he was just dehydrated that night?"
