Diner Reviews
  • "We waited 50 minutes between appetizer and main courses. Our waiter was very apologetic but clearly something went wrong in the kitchen. Food was delicious however. We'll give them another try."

  • "Why go into Boston when you can have a wonderful meal in Concord? The fava beans with pappardelle and the striped bass were as good as any Beantown eatery. And the desserts were delicious. Now with 80 Thoreau in the same town, Concord has become a hot place to dine."

  • "Restaurant is wonderfully layed out and service impeccable. the only thing I was disappointed in was the portion size for the smaller serving. Too small and overloaded with inexpensive frills instead of more substance, left hungry. More like appetizer size not smaller portion for main course. On that note, I don't know if I will hurry back."

  • "Every menu item was available as a half portion which allowed the three of us to order a selection of 'halves' to share. The half portions might even be large enough for a light meal, if you are not too hungry. Wonderful having such an excellent option at our doorstep."

  • "I am fortunate to live two blocks away from this still-new restaurant in town. We just had our fourth trip to Bondir Concord, and it has been solid every time: excellent service, interesting food with lots of small tastes that add up to something extraordinary, and even good wine by the glass. The two dining rooms are equally pleasant--one more vibrant, the other a quieter feel with a mural along the top of the walls and decor to match Concord's heritage. This is an unqualified recommendation--and a warning to reserve well in advance."

  • "I've never tasted flavors like those in a salad before. The duck was amazing, as were several other dishes. (It's great to be able to order half-portions.) When a noisy group sat down next to us, our waiter offered to move us. The one glitch in service -- when we had to wait a while for our second round of half-portions -- was remedied by some free wine. When we asked for a recommendation for one dessert wine to share, our waiter asked if we were up for an adventure, then brought us six glasses of various sizes, and charged us for one. All in all, quite an experience."

  • "We went with another couple also celebrating an anniversary. The warm welcome from Monica and her staff was lovely and the beauty and warmth of the fireplace adds to the charm. Perfect atmosphere for a celebration. We have dined here often since it opened last Fall. Since our first meal there, Bondir in Concord has become our place for a delicious dinner and social evening out; whether on our own or with friends. Food always delicious and surprising!"

  • "In an area without a lot of good food options, this is a welcome addition. The menu is inventive and exciting, and the option to get half portions allows you to create a unique dining experience with whoever joins you. My husband and I shared 5 half portions which was a great way to try some delicious things, and our waiter was an excellent guide for us. Surprisingly, the wine list features many bottles under $50, which is rare these days. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. Street parking is easy in Concord at night (there isn't much else open), and it's a great location in the center of town."

  • "The menu is interesting and thoughtful. Almost all entrees are available in half portions which is very considerate of those who want to have a sort of de gustation and those who just don;t want to eat too much of one thing. The food is carefully and creatively prepared with many us usual ingredients and combinations. That said - fish dishes are poached - no variety here and not very appealing to some diners. The service is peculiar. Too much ineffective attention and not enought efficiency. You might get your wine with the course you ordered but you might get it just when you have finished and no longer want it - for example. Servers approach with dishes who seem to be confused with their purpose - serving food or leaving sacrifices ."

  • "superb food with almost all dishes available as half plates, allowing extra opportunity to taste more and flexibiklity to buy less if not all that hungry."

  • "Each time I dine there, the experience varies. The cuisine is very good, but does not warrant the prices. They are still working out the soups - they kill it with the spices - but the meats tend to be better than average. Nothing that was too disappointing, but nothing that left me saying, "never had THAT before." The main negative is the service. Not sure why it is often the case with Concord restaurants, but either the waitstaff are young and inexperienced, or in this case, just simply dripping with attitude. It unfortunately took away from the experience. They do have one waiter, however, who is a gem and is worth requesting. While I don't know his name, but he's the Frenchman."

  • "My favorite thing about Bondir was thier small plate options. It allowed us to sample many dishes off thier menu. I was thrilled by thier coffee but disappointed I could not order a Cabernet by the glass"

  • "Maybe we hit it on a bad night but we tried 5 out of the 11 items on the menu from soup to the recommended agnolotti and none of them jumped out as flavorful or memorable. Presentation was excellent as was the atmosphere. The dish with the most flavor was the soup (celeriac and apple) but it was a little too spicy - the table next to us actually passed that same comment back to the chef. Perhaps the fish dishes, none of which we ordered, are the way to go but based on our experience, I wouldn't go back. The food isn't bad but with all the hype and difficulty getting a reservation, I don't get it."

  • "Tries to be unique with an eclectic menu but misses the mark. Food very average for the price. Definitely would not go back. There are better alternatives."

  • "We've been there twice now. Thorghtful and sometimes challenging flavor/texture combinations, front of the house is professionally run, excellent/attentive and knowledgeable wait staff, as well. Concord now has two plus/plus restaurants to supuport. Hope they do so."

  • "My husband and I had a very good dinner here. We were a bit concerned by the pretentiousness of the menu but the staff were very welcoming and the service was very good. Our dinners (I had two appetizer sized dishes and my husband had a main, we shared the calvados chocolate mousse) were delicious. I'm planning a return visit soon. Warning: If you like big platefuls of food, Bondir Concord is not for you!"

  • "We sat by the fire, right in the middle of all the activity! The food was out of this world. The chef came out and said hello. He was so gracious, and obviously a great talent. Cannot say enough about our wonderful experience. I cannot wait to go back."

  • "Worth heading west from Belmont! Having eaten at Bondir in Cambridge, we actually enjoyed our meal in Concord a bit more. Food was fantastic. Two couples ordered multiple sharing plates (about 2.5 per person). We were all totally satisfied, plus we were able to sample everything on the menu we wanted by sharing. Great meal."

  • "Portion sizes were either whole(6 oz. protein or half (3 oz). Right away, I felt the Presentation of a measurement was strange. The salad (one size- $14.00) skimped so much on the lettuce, that it was laughable, even though the tastes were good. Likewise, the full portion of duck, described as having many extras, turned out to be "dustings". The vegetable was a 2 inch piece - indeterminate. Could there not have been a scoop of a grain? Dessert- the cake was about 1 1/2 inches square. Ice creams were interesting flavors, and one of the few generous dishes on the menu. All in all- the flavors were extraordinarily good, but the portions gave an impression of skimpiness and left us unsatisfied, and wondering whether we would return."

  • "Portions tiny, you'll leave hungry or with hefty hefty check; flavors seemed forced about half the time. Plates were beautiful but then the food amounted to little underneath the impressive stacking of little. Service was good. Ingredients were trying to be so avant garde (to warrant the price? to be the new new?) that nothing was really that good and didn't really go. Sauce and accompaniments were negligent. Sure, try it for yourselves -- that's why we finally went. But really, just not worth the price tag. The best part was the the decor -- lovely."

  • "Love Bondir Concord and am very grateful for a true Boston/Cambridge restaurant in the burbs! Love everything! Server kept sniffing through out his serving- very impolite and gross, frankly. Every other time we have been we have had excellent service. Even this guy was knowledgable but his personal habits should have indicated to him that he stay home for that evening."

  • "An amazing new addition to the greater Concord area. And well worth a drive from Brookline, which we have now done twice."

  • "Concord is a trek, but a worthwhile one for foodies. Bondir is outstanding, at least as good as its Cambridge counterpart, and better than almost anything out in the burbs that's for sure! The service is exemplary. They bend over backwards to help. The food is very very good, and the small/large portions of each dish makes it possible to create a multi-course meal of your choosing. The quality of the food is superlative, and Jason Bond oversees every plate that leaves the kitchen. The wine list leaves something to be desired, but Jason told me that that's being addressed. We'll be back. Often. Wowzer!"

  • "So great to have a wonderful restaurant like Bondir join the ranks of 80 Thoreau in Concord. Very artistic and amazing food, service and ambiance. Our waiter, Will, had unparalleled knowledge of the menu and a great passion for Jason's culinary vision!"

  • "Fancy appearances are no substitute for flavor. Bondir fails to deliver on the principal ingredient of a great restaurant: food that delivers wonderful flavors to your mouth, and leaves you wanting for more. It's also extremely expensive. If you want a wonderful dining experience in the Concord area, go to 80 Thoreau instead."

  • "I have been blown away by the Cambridge restaurant - creative and exciting food, unlike any other restaurant in the Boston area. Where else will you get seaweed bread that totally perks up your senses? The Concord restaurant feels a bit like the standards were lowered (or just made blander) because it was the suburbs. Nothing exciting or different about the food and the service was mediocre (brought our food over before we were finished with cocktails - a pet peeve of mine since hard liquor does not pair with food). The space is absolutely lovely - warm, inviting and not too loud."

  • "Dined there just after it opened. Great space, wonderful service, intriguing menu. Some offerings more successful than others but I am confident that will shake out. We look forward to returning and expect, hope, to find all dishes to be as good as some were this time."

  • "This was our first visit to Bondir and we were very pleased with our experience. We had a reservation and we were greeted very warmly. The restaurant has a warm and cozy feel. The lighting was subdued and the blazing fire in the middle of the restaurant is a wonderful atmosphere enhancer. We were seated at a table in a room at the rear of the restaurant. It was very close to the next table and not very private. We asked to be moved and the host was very accommodating. She gave us a couple of options and we decided to sit in the lounge area at a high top table. Our waiter (Tom) was also the bartender and he was very attentive and funny. Our dinners were delicious and fresh. I love the local and organic beliefs of the chef. Highly recommended"

  • "I was looking for something new in the Concord area and came across Bondir. It was outstanding - great food, service, wine selection and a warm ambiance. It was the perfect destination for a romantic evening - only surpassed by the truly amazing woman I was with. Thank you Bondir!"

  • "I dined with my family at Bondir for a belated birthday dinner. My primary complaint is that the service was extremely slow; we ordered a small plate, 3 large plates, and dessert and were at the restaurant for over 2.5 hours. When 2 of the 3 entrees arrived, it took another 5 minutes for the 3rd to arrive. Our waiter never came back to ask how our entrees were and we had to ask another waiter twice for our check. The menu is pretentious and the portions are small. The scallops were tasty, but overly salted. The dining room was not full, but the acoustics were loud."

  • "Really enjoyed our dinner. It was a foodie's delight with very interesting dishes with wonderful flavors. Loved the half portions which allow you to try several main dishes. It is an attractive restaurant with a great fireplace and a comfortable bar."

  • "Fantastically renovated, warm brick walls, perfect fireplace, lovely old workbench/ workstation beautiful flower arrangement (Winston Flowers.). Lovely house manager, friendly, caring, some good food: apple 'normandie salade' with mixed greens and Jaspar Hill cheddar, great crusty bread. Sadly, our waiter was snobby and slow. He appeared uninterested in our dinner. Our drinks took ten minutes to arrive, (the restaurant was only half full, the bar had 4 guests), our waiter did not apologize, nor seem to notice. We asked the hostess who seated us if we could sit in a more private location, she rolled her eyes and made a fine-be-that-way gesture. Snobby is not Concord. Concord is vibrant and alive. The pretension was a bit deadly."

  • "We went to Bondir after an acquaintance recommended it. He had dined in the Cambridge location and is also a foodie. Hearing about where the food came from, how they grind their own flour from heritage wheat was interesting. The bread was delicious as were the salads and entrees. I believe all the ingredients in our meals were sourced in the stated of Massachusetts. Impressive that they take local sourcing so seriously. We would not have been surprised that they churned their own butter. We split two half servings of dishes as our appetizers and then had our main courses. The desserts were rich in flavor as well. We would recommend Bondir to those who enjoy a well-prepared meal and for especially 'foodies'."

  • "This new restaurant specializes in sustainable, natural food. Preparation is intense. Taste is mostly natural, but a bit over emphasized. Portions were modest but prices were high. Quality of food was very high. Not the type of place I would go to weekly. It's the kind of place I would take friends for a different kind of eating experience."
